Very unpleasant salesperson. After looking at the granite slabs in the yard we stood and waited for the salesperson. After 20 minutes she never even acknowledged us. An "I'll be with you shortly" would have sufficed. When she finally spoke to us, she seemed annoyed. I even asked her if everything was okay. She clearly wasn't interested in my business and I would not spend a dime there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either.
Description of Work: Ignored, then treated rudely by the salesperson

Response from Midwest Stone Sales Inc
Customer originally came in on 04/15/2012 for a quote. Customer came back on a very busy Saturday November 3, 2012 and must have not wanted to wait until a salesperson was available. We install thousands of jobs a year and weekends are very busy because it is convenient for people to come Saturday's and Sunday's to view our large granite selection. We would hope customers would understand when they can visually see how busy we are.

There are no hidden costs and their work is very professional and accurate. The seams were so well glued that I hardly recognized them. I had the opportunity also to selection which portions of the slab would go where in my kitchen. I really appreciated this and the cuts to slab and resulting pieces (3 plus an island) all compliemented each other and looked fantastic - a far cry from ordering at a big box store and choosing from a 3 inch sample. A follow up call and card were made by the company to insure I was satisfied.
Description of Work: The selection in the outdoor yard is incredible. Prices escalate from a few choices starting at $35/square foot. We estimated the square footage needed and put a 50% deposit down. A measure appt was set and utilized a laser system which was amazingly accurate. Installation was scheduled and took about 2 hours for 55 sq ft. Completed project took about 3 weeks from ordering. Great experience and we are very satisfied with a beautiful kitchen.

I love my countertops. What a big difference from the old laminate. I made 4 trips to Midwest Stone Sales to narrow down my choices. I made sure and took a cabinet door, that helps alot. With the slabs being outside, the color can differ based upon the weather. The staff was very helpful during my search for "the one". Especially my last visit. it was determined I needed two slabs for the job but, could only find 1. As you might know, the slabs can vary alot and the one I picked had a very distinct marking in the corner. Tammy took her time and helped me locate a second slab that was on the opposite side of the building. I made the decision that day and put down 50%. At that time, we also scheduled the on-site measurement, layout and finally installation. The technician arrived within the 4 hour window for the on-site measurements. Due to some custom painting the back splash needed to be a little higher than than the old since I did not have any paint samples. He also made a recommendation to add a back splash to an existing wall and it was an excellent idea. The next step was the layout. The purpose of the layout is to do the measurements on the actual slabs so, the customer can see what it will look like. The goal is to keep the uniformity. I arrived for the layout and found the office worker to be busy and the slabs were not together. Actually, they didn't even know where they were. Needless to say, the slabs were found but, only 1 was available for viewing. Since intially the slabs were not together, this caused me concern. I have a lengthly commute so, coming back the next day was not an option. I phoned Tammy and asked what I should have expected and then told her what I experienced. She apologized and explained what I experienced is not the norm. We worked it out to have both slabs together and I had a friend go look the next day. My friend had been there before so, she knew what it was to look like. I really appreciate Tammy making it right and that is the reason I gave an overall rating of "A". The installation date was on a Friday and between the times of 9-1. The installers showed up at 10:00am and definitely know what they are doing. The existing counters were gone within 30 minutes and the whole installation was completed within 4 hours. They did an excellent job cleaning up and were very professional. One thing to point out, they do not call to confirm appointment times. It's up to you to remember. I believe this is an area they could improve their customer relations. I also recommend they provide the customer with a list of cleaning products that can be used on granite. Perhaps even have product to purchase.
Description of Work: I shopped at various granite company and visited Midwest Stone Sales various times to pick out the granite for my kitchen countertops. They have a very large selection. I had 56 sq. ft of counter replaced including a 4" back splash. They also took care of the tear out and disposal of the old counters, including the sink.

I apologize. I put all the detail into the box above.
Description of Work: We had a complete kitchen remodel - tear out, rebuild walls, install new cabinets, flooring, appliances and counters. We bought our GRANITE KITCHEN COUNTERS from, and had them installed by, MIDWEST STONE INC. Services preformed start with the selection opportunity at Midwest Stone's outdoor site that we visited (several times) at 23736 W. 119th St., Plainfield, IL 60544 (815-254-6600). On our first visit, their Sales Rep, Dale Barr, gave us a clip board with a sheet to list the names & group numbers of our "likes" as we walked thru the site. We were able to browse on our own without any sales pressure. Their Sales people were nearby if we had any questions. We came back a couple more times trying to make our selection. During another visit we spoke with Sales Rep. Kasia Nawrocka. > Keep your own notes with dates & names and any info discussed. > Bring cabinet & flooring samples with you to help in selection. We met with the Sales person, Debbie Dobbs, inside regarding all the different group levels and what they each entailed and the price levels for each. We discussed basic layout and appliances positions, supports and plumbing & electrical positions. We provided our measurements (we had a measurement drawing from our contractor). She advised us of the payment policy (pay-in-full or deposit in advance and when final payment is due). She also told us about the process steps and timing/scheduling (measure, fabricate, install). Each project is unique, so I'm not mentioning our specifics. > You should have approximate measurements of what you want or at least an overall room measurement. > Appliance(s) sizes and placement(s). > Don't forget the sink type & size. Faucet type; how many holes will be needed. > Get a basic written Estimate. Once we decided on and selected our slabs, we worked with Sales Rep. Debbie Dobbs to give our Deposit (50%) and to get the written Estimate and Receipt. Then we set the tentative schedule dates for the Measure, Fabrication & Installation. > Request a copy of their "General Conditions of Sale" and the "What to Expect at Your Measure and Installation". You will get that once you agree to the purchase and either pay-in-full or put down a deposit. Having it beforehand will help greatly in understanding the details that you need to prepare and have done. Sales Rep. Debbie Dobbs came to our house to get their measurements. Each section needed was specifically measured & rechecked. I had to be present to confirm all the measurements & the layout and sign off on their "Shop Ticket". This was in addition to our contractor's measurements & drawing. We had one delay due to our vacation timing (July) that pushed back the measure date. They had one delay during fabrication due to excessive heat in their layout warehouse (July) that pushed back the install date. Both delays were discussed & acceptable and neither party had any complaints. MWS employees/Technicians installed the counter tops & back splashes very efficiently and carefully. They were equipped to finish the edges & corners as needed to insure a perfect fit. They cleaned and polished every surface. > Look over all the surfaces carefully and show them anything that is not as it should be. You can always phone your Sales Rep. with any concerns or questions while the Technician is still there. We are COMPLETELY SATISFIED with MIDWEST STONE, their employess who we interacted with and their product. We LOVE our kitchen!! These courter tops are the "finishing touches" to our dream kitchen. I enjoy them everyday.

We selected our granite slab at Midwest Stone's outdoor location. Sales personnel were very helpful and supplied immediate estimate based on our measurements. We put half down, and installation was scheduled for two weeks later. In between a workman visited our house to confirm the measurements as well as the special corner cut we wanted. He suggested that we add a side backsplash section to the vanity counters for an extra $40. We took this advice and were glad that we did. Two workers showed up promptly at the scheduled time and did a very professional installation. The price we paid included the granite slab, removal of the two existing countertops, and two sinks that we purchased from Midwest. Overall we were very pleased with the quality of work and the professionalism. We compared prices at two "big box" stores and Midwest was significantly lower. The dimensions of our bathroom countertops were 22" x 71", and 22" x 89". Both countertops were fabricated from the same slab and they look fantastic.
Description of Work: Measured and installed two granite countertops in our master bathroom.
