This was a very large project over several weeks. Owner John Gallagher is direct, honest, responsive and committed to quality. While the price was not the lowest we selected John based on work he had done for others we talked to, his involvement in the local community and his commitment to quality. All work was completed to our satisfaction in a timely manner. The roof was completed over two days. The project was challenging due to the mature landscaping that surrounds the house. Roofing is noisy and messy by nature but the project was finished efficiently with only minor impact on the landscaping. We had several areas of concern (e.g., flashing around chimney) that were addressed appropriately as per the proposal discussions. The siding was completed by one installer. While this elongated the project he was very meticulous and clearly took a great deal of pride in his work. The quality of his work in particular exceeded our expectations. There were some add-on costs which were discussed at the time of proposal and/or during the project so there were no significant surprises. John kept in touch with us (both by phone and site visits) throughout the project to answer any questions and to address any concerns. We had one minor issue (around the inside window trim which occurred when the siding nailed in) which we noticed after the project was finished. John's crew addressed timely and resolved to our complete satisfaction. Overall we are very pleased with the project and love the new look.

The owner of this business sent us a very skilled workman from Poland to install new siding on our garage. He removed the old rusting metal siding and installed beautiful red vinyl siding that matches the bricks of our house and cleaned up all debris.

Our roof was replaced last year in late November, it was one of the last jobs John had to do before weather gets too cold to install. I am writing this review 10 months after the job completion. We have been enjoying the beautiful look of the new roof, and also tremendous energy savings and comfort it had brought as a result of the installation of the ridge vent! In the past 10 years living in the house, in most summer days, the 2nd floor gets really hot even with A/C, sometimes unbearable, now we know it's because air in attic was not vented out efficiently with traditional vents. At the first meeting with John, he gave me an in-depth 'seminar' on roofing materials and suggested ridge vent, which is very popular in the south. This year through out summer, we have been having cool 2nd level temperature with min use of A/C, never a day uncomfortable like before, even if it's super hot out. What a different it made! John only uses one of the top ranked shingles on the market, it has proven to be worth the investment, the quality and the nice upscale curb appeal. John was honest, sincere, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend them to anyone needs a new roof. I am so glad I found EDI, instead of like everyone else on my street, who were not well informed, ended up using storm chasers for their roof jobs, all used the cheapest/poorest quality shingles (Tico), and ignored cold temperature restriction on roofing jobs, I literally saw my neighbors had their roof replaced in the snow when temperature was in the low 30s. When it comes to big job, you have to choose a reputable, local company that you can trust, and EDI is a hidden gem in Naperville. Their price is on par with other well-established companies.

John, the owner, was very good to deal with and accommodated our wishes. Witek, the installer, was a perfectionist and did a great job.

They were fabulous. The company and owner were great. They were professional, on time, and things were taken care of the way it should be. Even though this was a small job the owner came, gave us a quote, had his guys fix it, and everything was clean.

They did the repair of the facia in 20 minutes. It was quick and easy. He looked around to make sure there weren't any other areas that needed to be repaired.

John gave us a detailed estimate and explained all materials used. Very accurate. The work was done in a professional manner. Everything went well. We would highly recommend Exterior Designers Inc. John Gallagher was very professional.Remove and haul existing siding. Install 2 light blocks, one dryer vent & spigot block. Cap 7 windows. Flash to deck and reside home with. 046 reinforced solid vinyl premium color siding. Cut large holes in soffit for max air flow install clapboard on sides. Cap all fascia and soffits. Replaced rear storm door. Replaced all gutters with oversized downspouts. Clean all debris.

John was kind, professional and attentive. He was very clear with the price and the job looks wonderful. The men who did the installations were professional and courteous and did an exceptional job cleaning up.

Skylight started leaking. Received estimate on 11/9/2015. Worked completed 11/14/2015. Very professional!

They're not cheap. The price was a bit much. They showed up on time.

John and his crew did a great job. He explained everything so we knew up front what to expect. Very professional.

Edi's price was at the middle of the 10 estimates I got for the projects. All the projects were done quickly, but well. The owner is very knowledgeable about the products he installs. I would not hesitate to hire edi again.

Mr.Gallagher was prompt in returning my call,He is very detailed and knowledgeable about his work . It took a couple weeks to schedule the job. However, everything is good so far. I would definitely recommend Exterior Designers and will use them in the future .

Very very good. John is quite personable and willing to work against his competition on pricing. We struck a deal and had the windows measured. Last summer, Marvin was quite a bit behind on deliveries and so were not installed until September. His crew was thoughtful and neat insuring no damage to the home or rugs. Only issue was that two windows were ordered with incorrect openings direction [which were later rectified without de-installing the windows and the bathroom window was the incorrect size. John readily admitted the mistake and reordered. We got the replacement this spring [no one wants a window open during the dead of winter] and we love the windows. Wood staining matches the existing woodwork very well. And these are simply the best windows. Immediately could lower our thermostat 2 degrees and the house is noticably quieter, a nice side benefit. You can trust John as I believe his business ethics to be second to none and I believe that is a rare commodity in home improvement companies. He may not be the lowest [mostly because he only sells top drawer products] but he is one of the finest.

The project went well from the beginning. John (owner) sat down with us, provided background about himself and the business as well as product details and options. The roof was completed in one day, gutters another. The site was cleaned up very well. We're happy with the work and would recommend EDI to others.

The job was very professinal, the workers took two days to complete the roof and when they left the job site was cleaned with only a minimal amount of materials (some clear plastic from the shingle tabs) visible. Those were carried away from the job site by the wind during installation. I was very impressed by the work and very satisfied.

They were good. They did a nice job. It was extremely hot, and we gave them water, and they were polite and did a nice job. It's gone to winter, and I noticed one of my gutters was leaking. They had installed a leak-guard system on my gutters. I'm going to call the owner in the springtime to come and fix my gutter, so I'm hoping that will be fine. Other than that, I have no complaints.

After talking to 4-5 contractors I selected EDI as I liked John Galagher's approach to business and his price was right in the middle. I talked to him in July and had to wait until September for him to get started. Only one man worked on my siding but Vitek was awesome. He put in 12 hour days and is such a perfectionist that he did the work of a whole crew. There was a lot of rotten wood under the wrap that had been done on my windows a few years previously by another company and that all had to be replaced, which was an extra expense. When he got to my sun porch the wood was so rotten that the windows needed to be removed so the wood could be replaced. The cost for that by a window company was very high and I decided to have new energy efficient windows installed by EDI instead. That caused a 6 week delay while the windows were custom made. The windows were finally installed on a Saturday by a 2 man crew in about 4 hours and Vitek came the following week to finish the siding. The house looks amazing. I have already recommended EDI to a neighbor.

Would definitely use EDI again. Our great impression of this company started from the very first when John promptly returned our call, all the way to the finish of the job. Everyone was very friendly, courteous, and professional. They were very knowledgeable and took the time to explain all our material and product options and what was going to be done to our home and when. When issues came up, they took the time to explain and walk us through ways to correct the problems. For instance, we previously had new windows installed (by a different contractor). As the siding came down, Vitek (the siding installer) showed us the rotting wood that the window installer had just covered up with tape rather than repaired. The window installer had also left all kinds of holes and gaps around our windows so Vitek walked us through what needed to be done to make it right and made sure we were okay with it before he continued. We highly recommend EDI! We are very happy with the way everything turned out. Our home is beautiful and just like new and we are very proud of it again. Thank you John and all!

They did everything to in one day. They did this on the hottest day of the year. They took the old windows out and put the new windows in. This also included a 12 foot sliding glass door. I did have a problem with the patio door but they came and fix it right away. It wasn't because it was not installed incorrectly it was because there was a spring lock needed to be replaced nothing on there end. They were great. They have a great product and excellent follow up service.

That’s the one that I would use. They were very prompt. My husband actually built the house down the street and that’s the one that he redid. When I saw their house I thought that it was real nice and I asked who they used so that's who they used; they go by EDII, I think. My husband was assisting me with cedar siding and he wanted specific cedar which was horizontal and not the sheets but individual planks and stain it. When I was online and researching about painters online, I just searched and they were on that too but I did not get them through Angie’s List. He came out and spent quite a bit of time, looked around and measured and under a week we had a bid. They were very professional and I had seen their job so. My neighbors had used them for all their stuff. I was real happy with them and I know my neighbors were real happy with them.

We were very pleased with the excellent workmanship and the professionalism shown by the workman. He arrived on time and stayed longer than the normal 8 hour work day. He cleaned up every night and stowed all tools and equipment. We absolutely would hire this company again for any exterior work needed.

Their thoroughness and the technical expertise made me go back to them. The owners ability to help me understand in a very simple and non salesman manner was great, I learned a little bit about roofs.

They had to rip off the roof and replace with some plywood. It was a bigger job than one may have expected. They were exceptionally understanding. We were wanting it to be done before the winter. Thankfully, the weather held off and made sure it was completed. He was very thorough and would let us know what is going on and what needed to be done. The end result was that everything went swimmingly. There was one thing about nails that were showing. He came out and corrected this, while telling my son what he was doing. He was patient and understanding. He didn't talk down to me or my son, which was appreciated.
