Went well. Seems like the previous owners did the cheapest possible set up they could with cruddy pipes and valves. These guys knew what they were doing and removed old pipes leading to nowhere. They also installed the new water heater in a way that was much easier to access in our home. Highly recommended.

The Customer Service Rep/Zack was rude and unresponsive to hearing my needs. He made my experience with DRF extremely unpleasant. The installer, a licensed plummer, Kevin was very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all my questions without hesitation. He made adjustments in the installation because of the tight area available in my condo. I would gladly request/refer him for any plumbing issues!

As a follow up to the tankless water heater installation by DRF the previous year, the annual water heater flush needed to be performed to eliminate/reduce any scaling that might have built up in the pipes and water heater tank for optimal performance. The first flush is included with the original install purchase and no payment was made for this service. Andy G and Noe P were prompt and got to work immediately after arriving. They were professional and courteous. They explained what steps they were going to take and even showed me how I could perform the same flush myself. Work was done cleanly and efficiently. Great work!

The installation was fine but their quoted packages were deceptive . I was quoted ,over the phone, an all inclusive package price of $2900.00 that included all needed upgrades to install my system to the latest codes. The woman on the phone assured me that there would not be any additional charges if I took their premium Safety Assurance Package for $2900 . When they came to the house that price became $3300. When I told them that I was quoted the all inclusive premium package with no additional charges , the best they would do was $3100. I was stuck because I had been without my water heaters for two days-- so I signed on the line. I thought that $2900 was outrageous but now they stuck me for an additional $200 ! I thought that I was dealing directly with Home Depot but HD only supplies the water heaters and subs out the installation with DRF Installations. I am surprised that Home Depot would pick such a company to partner with. Next time I will do my homework and pick a reputable company through Angie's List. My problem was that I waited until the water heaters started leaking instead of shopping ahead of time.

Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], Thank you for posting a review about your service experience. We value and appreciate your feedback. We apologize for the confusion about the municipal requirement for expansion tanks on each of your two water heaters. Our safety package includes the most common safety improvements but not every variable can be determined prior to inspection by one of our licensed plumbers. In your home, expansion tanks were required for each of your two water heaters to keep your family and home safe as required by your municipality. Our licensed plumber quoted for the additional products required in your home and you agreed to the quoted price before any work began. DRF's policy that all work be quoted before beginning installation was followed. Customers are given the opportunity to accept or decline the services as quoted. If the customer decides to decline service, DRF will cancel the service with no charge to the customer. DRF offers the best response time, service and value possible every day and to affirm this with our customers we also offer a 30-day best price guarantee on all of our work. We are sorry that you accepted the services agreement before we began any work and then were disappointed after we provided the agreed upon products and services. We are now aware that despite DRF having taken many steps to insure your satisfaction before any service was provided, you are disappointed about paying for the additional products and services provided. As a goodwill accommodation, we will write off the costs to DRF and provide a refund to you for the difference in price from the phone quote before inspection and the quote provided by the licensed plumber upon arrival at your home. We thank you for the opportunity to serve you and trust this resolution exceeds your expectations. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season. Sincerely, DRF Trusted Property Solutions | Customer Care Team

Proactive sales team, but hidden fees. Each time I spoke with a rep, including the confirmation call day-of scheduled service, there was a new fee to add to my quote that the person I'd previously spoken with "must have forgot" to tell me - despite asking multiple times about any other possible fees that could be incurred. If you work with them, ask about things such as: removal fee (for 75 gal tanks, an extra man), multi-unit dwelling fee, permits and fees, etc. Their plumbers also "won't touch water shutoffs," require 24 hours notice for buildings and told me we needed to move an A/C line for removal/install of tanks - which we didn't. (I didn't learn anything but the extra man until day of service. I cancelled service.) When I asked for a refund (because I paid up front to secure a July discount), I was told I'd receive a confirmation email and/or receipt. I didn't, and had to follow up to request one to be sent while I was on the phone with their billing team. I ultimately went with another company that provided more up-front pricing and more knowledgeable techs who could complete the service at a lower cost without needing to mess with any other systems (A/C lines, etc.)

Dear [Member Name Removed], Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience with us. We can understand your frustration regarding added fees. All the proper questions should have been asked upfront to avoid any confusion or additional fees added on. This is not a typical experience and we apologize that you had to that we were not able fulfill your pricing expectations right off the bat. With regards to some of the fees, in goodwill we waived the multi-family fee which is a fee that allots the proper time/efforts for our plumbers to properly service a unit that is multiple stories up and an extra helper to do so. Unfortunately, permits are a necessary fee. As licensed professional plumbers, we take the utmost care when it comes to our customers and the regard for their safety. The A/C line removal was to avoid a safety concern. We thank you for your feedback and bringing to light this information so we may better serve our customers. Because this is not a typical experience, we hope that in the future you consider DRF for your plumbing and hot water needs. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

Everyone I spoke to at DRF was very professional and knowledgeable. Matt was able to send the pictures that I took of my place to the team and they were able to give me honest advice over the phone. The route I was considering taking would not be powerful enough to heat my whole house. They told me this up front and they did not waste my time or money with a solution that would not have helped. I appreciate their honesty. I would call them again.

I called DRF this morning at 7:45 AM to ask about the next steps for a hot water heater repair. Without knowing anything but the model of my tank and the year it was installed (8 years ago) I was told that I would need to replace it. I proceed to move forward with that suggestion and was told that a technician would be at my house sometime today to complete the service. I took the day off of work to be there for the service. No one came or contacted me until 9:45 when they said that it would take longer than they thought, but that someone would be here in the afternoon and that he would be coming from Lombard (I live in Downers Grove), either way, I would be notified when the technician was on his way. I wait at home all day until 3:40 when I have to leave to pick my child up from school. At 3:48, I get the call saying the technician is on his way. I let the caller know that I'm en route to pick up my child and should be home in 20 minutes or so - which would be a reasonable meeting time for someone driving from Lombard to Downers Grove. Unfortunately, I receive another phone call 3 minutes later (3:51) saying that the technician is at my house and will only wait 20 minutes for me to get back. I rush to pick up my small child and get home, only to have missed him by 2 minutes. When I call, I am told that he cannot turn back. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this service. Not only were they incredibly expensive, the service was terrible and I cannot believe what they put me through today. I do NOT recommend DRF.

We apologize for your poor experience with our services. There is no doubt that we didn't deliver our normally high service standard in this instance, our plumber left after only waiting 20 minutes for you to return and we should have had him wait until you returned to serve your hot water needs that day. Thank you for explaining how this situation impacted you and your family. We have shared the details with our entire team through additional training to prevent a situation like this in the future. If we could go back and change the situation, we would. Our president has attempted to reach out to you a number of times by phone and email to offer his personal apology and try to make things right for you; unfortunately, you haven't responded. Since we cannot change the past to correct the anger and frustration you experienced, we are sending you a gift card in hopes that you and your family will use it to enjoy a relaxing dinner out on us. Once again, we humbly apologize for your experience and hope for the opportunity to properly serve you in the future

ount The hot water heater works fine. However, the installers damaged my home without saying anything and just left. I discovered they took two large chunks out of the stone lintel under my front doorway to my home by letting the two wheel dolly (when loaded with the hw heater) drop down too hard. They left the two chunks of stone sitting on my front stoop as an obvious indicator the damage just occurred and the damage was exactly the width of the metal portion of the two wheel dolly. I called the office immediately and they were not very responsive, however they eventually spoke to their manager who relayed an insulting $100 credit. The manager would not speak to me directly and would not consider an offer closer to the amount to fix the damage even after I received two estimates. Without any further communication with me an unlicensed contractor shows up at 5 pm one day stating he was there to fix the lintel when only my father was at home. I am not sure who does this but the company did not call me at all to say they were going to fix the damage, did not make an appointment with me and just showed up not knowing if anyone would even be home. The unlicensed individual spoke to me on my cellphone at my father's insistence, where I informed him that he would have to return by appointment only (so that I could be home) and provide me with credentials. Now DRF has gone silent on me with no returned calls and that is why I am finally writing a bad review. Even if DRF had made an appt with me, sending an inexperienced contractor could have resulted in further damage and was simply an irresponsible solution. In any case this situation should have warranted a call from the manager and a more professional solution. Mistakes happen. However, it speaks volumes for how a company handles them. DRF was not only insulting when on the phone, but unresponsive and just simply unprofessional in the entire situation. I would never use them again.

I was referred to DRF via Home Depot. Originally was going to go with another regular tank model, but the plumber (Tom) talked to me about the advances in tankless technology and how they could manage a home my size. After considering the pros/cons I decided to go with the tankless model that the plumber recommended (Navien NPE-240A). The installation went very smoothly and Tom and his apprentice (James) were both very professional. After completing the install, Tom even took the time to change the safety settings on my shower faucets to account for the difference in water temp. I would highly recommend DRF and in particular, Tom, to anybody needing a new water heater installed or other plumbing work done.

I contracted DRF via Home Depot to replace my water heater which I thought was the cause for some (unfinished) basement water leakage. They came out to replace it but upon further inspection Jesse/Tyler suggested the w/h was not the problem. The w/h we currently have was installed back in 2003 so it is definitely functioning longer than normal (6-10 years). I really appreciate the honesty of these guys especially since I slept through my "handyman" skills growing up. Also my dealing with Maria over the phone was exceptional. I definitely would use or suggest these guys in the future.

My family recently moved into a new home and knew that the existing water heater was quite old and was running on borrowed time. I had to be proactive and thwart any impending disaster. However, I wasn't sure if a tankless water heater was the right solution for us considering the substantial upfront costs versus a traditional tank water heater. After discussing the pros and cons with Sal from DRF, I understood that going with a tankless would potentially save me the hassle of installing another tank water heater in another 10-12 years since the tankless could last me 20+ years. Also, after doing some number crunching I realized that in the long run I would be paying for a tankless no matter which option I decided on. It was a no brainer. The two key benefits of going with a tankless for me is the energy savings from not constantly boiling water (whether I used it or not) and the potential of a disastrous flood in my basement. Andrea R. from DRF was also extremely helpful in answering any questions I had. At no point did I feel any pressure from them. So after weighing my options, I decided to go with the Rheem ECO200. Mike P. and Donovan arrived and assessed the basement space and quickly figured out a plan of attack to install the tankless. After opening the box that the tankless unit came in it was quickly discovered that there were dents and dings on the cover for some reason. DRF quickly procured a new cover and sent it over the same day. Before the installation, they clearly explained everything that needed to be done and got to work immediately. The installation was quite involved with water pipes, gas lines, venting, etc. so it took all day basically...but Mike and Donovan were awesome. You can tell they take extreme pride in their work. Plus they cleaned up any mess that was made during the installation afterwards. At the time of writing this review, it had been a few weeks of using the new water heater and it has worked flawlessly since. It was obvious that Mike and Donovan installed the unit correctly the first time. DRF is a great company to work with and would use them for future projects. I was treated professionally and courteously and it's apparent that customer service and quality is very important to them. They even took care of the village permit to do the work. Great service! Thank you for giving me one less thing to worry about with the house.

I called them and the operator kindly and efficiently guided me through the process of selecting the adequate water heater to replaced my old one. She scheduled the installation for the same day (the old one broke the previous night, leaving us without hot water). Two plumbers showed up, on time, with the heater I purchased through Home Depot. They removed the old one and installed the new one. A couple of valves were replaced (old ones were rusted out). The whole process was quick and clean. I would recommend this company to friends and family.

The provider after contacting via Home Depot came to our house an installed a 75 gallon water heater in our house. Later on we find out that they overcharged us and added a bunch of additional things that were not required. When we turn the water on now we waste at least 1 gallon of water per tap every time we turn on the faucet or shower before the water turns hot. Now after the installation they tell us we also need a recirculating pump which the plumber did not quote us for which is another $400. WE never had a recirculating pump before so there should have never been any need to have one. (as per another plumber). We informed DRF that this tactic was unethical that we agreed to the costs upfront and not added costs after the install. I will never use them again! They were definitely unethical. We even contact Home Depot and they were of no help. I have never had such an awful experience in my life with any Angie member. This is the worst ever. PLEASE beware

Contact was made with DRF thru Home Depot when my water heater failed just before Labor Day. A 50 gallon, 9 year warranty, Rheem water heater was installed on Labor Day for a cost of $1253.68 plus a holiday surcharge of $190.00, both charges being reasonable. The plumber, Mike Pryor, was professional, neat, and quick. He answered all my questions directly and candidly. I could not have been more pleased with the work and the plumber.

On Friday 8/14 we learned that out brand new Rheem water heater was not working. This water heater was manufactured in 4/2015 and installed 6/2015. DRF is contracted via Home Depot keep in mind. Just to get our new water heater installed properly was a burden. The first install attempt did not go since the plumber only brought one water heater on his truck which was not the correct one. So, we had to wait until the following Monday to receive the correct heater. 3 days no hot water. So on 8/14 I contacted DRF for a plumber to come out again and fix the problem. The water heater could not be re-lit. On 8/15 a plumber arrived without any parts to fix the heater. The part needed to be ordered from Rheem direct and mailed to our home. The part arrived Tuesday 8/18, 3 more days without hot water, total time closer to one week no hot water. When this part arrived a Pro Tech Pilot Assembly, the plumber installed the part, still no hot water. The plumber tells me, "Oh we need to order an ignitor from Rheem will be here tomorrow." At this point I already had the Supervisors name, Laura. I immediately called here, fuming! After 15 minutes of phone tag I convinced her to have someone fix this heater today asap. An ignitor was located in the warehouse and later that day my heater was finally fixed. At this point parts are still being mailed to my home for unknown reasons with DRF calling me to pick up the parts. DRF says that Rheem will not mail parts directly to them, only to the customer. The customer then must call for an appointment. DRF does not stock parts to fix the Rheem water heaters they install and apparently neither does Home Depot. Warranty work on a 45 day heater installed cost me numerous hours of waiting and pure frustration not to mention no hot water for 7 days. This simple problem could have been fixed if only DRF had parts accessible and didnt make the consumer wait.

Response from DRF Water Heating Solutions
We understand how frustrating it can be to be without hot water – especially within just a few months of having a new water heater installed. Unfortunately, in this particular and un-common situation - most of the needs your situation required assistance by the company responsible for the warranty of the water heater. The Rheem water heaters we install are very reliable, but on occasion –as with any product - a part can fail. The good news in this case is that the needed repair was covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Under Rheem’s warranty procedure, replacement parts are only shipped to the customer’s home for installation, and are not stocked by service installers. In your particular case, the original diagnosis by Rheem’s technical support team to replace the thermopile was unfortunately not the sole fix, and after additional discussions with Rheem to help provide a solution, a second part needed to be dispatched. Since the second part needed was available in DRF’s warehouse, our supervisor authorized a same-day replacement of that part to restore your hot water supply while insuring no further delay. Your review mentions that you were without hot water for 7 days. From the time you reported the problem to us on Friday, 8/14/2015 until hot water was restored on Tuesday, 8/18/2015 is only a 4 day period. We assisted in every opportunity we could given this un-common situation was reliant upon the warranty company and its warranty procedure. It is our goal to satisfy every customer in the best way we can. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

DRF called when the plumber were to arrive, they arrived within minutes of time quoted. The two plumbers, Mike and Noe were very professional and courteous. They removed the old water and what seemed like minutes the new heater was in. they also removed the old heater from my property. The entire job was done in less than 1 hour. They even vacuumed up any mess from the old heater. The county inspector approved the unit and commented that these guys did a great job. So ask me if I would recommend this company and there employees, YOU BET.

Water heater went out on 7/20/15. We called Home Depot and they sent over DRF. Mike P. and Andrew were out the very next afternoon to replace it and saved the day! They were charismatic, professional and installed our water heater in a timely manner. Mike P. and Andrew sat down with me not only to explain my bill, but to go over the operation of my new water heater. I wish every home service was like this one. I would definitely call them again.

I would not recommend them for irrigation services. My system takes water from a pond and uses different size pipe than most yards. Every time I call for service, I explain this to them and every time the technician comes unprepared. Their pricing is extremely high compared to others. I just tried Salinas and Sons and they were awesome in all respects but as an example, their price for replacing a sprinkler head was 1/3 the cost of what DRF charges me!! Plus, DRF sells a contract for opening/closing your system and states they check all heads... .which they don't. I called and told them that and it didn't matter - nobody responded to me. Then I told them I didn't want their contract anymore and told them why and they still didn't do anything to keep my business. They blew out my system last fall but not well which led to my pipes cracking underground... that is when I called Salina's to come to the rescue. I would not use DRF again.
Description of Work: DRF installed my system and I have been using them for blowout services and maintenance throughout the years.
