DRF Water Heating Solutions

Yesterday I wrote a review as I thought they were professional. This morning however the experience changed. They called and said they cannot replace it. It was like a bait and switch. They offered 200 dollars for a damaged unit. Very upset. Do not work with them.

DRF was very responsive. They walked me through my options on the phone, showed up on time, answered my questions completely, and completed the installation without any problems. They also do not charge if for any reason you decide not to proceed with the installation, unlike many other outfits that charge for a "diagnosis" and then "credit" you for purchasing. I was vey pleased with the service, and installation by DRF. The installation price seems high, but I was also paying for same day service, bringing up the plumbing to code, removal of old unit and they completed all in about 2 hours!

This is an update on an earlier review. In the earlier review I complained that I could not get information from DRF Trusted Property Solutions as to the minimum venting space I needed above the water heater to the point where it entered the wall to go up the chimney. I wanted to buy the correct water heater at Home Depot so that I wouldn't have to return an initial purchase (which is what happened after the DRF installers showed up to my house and advised me that my water heater was too tall to be vented properly). I paid $149 for that plumber call, which was not folded into a second visit to install the replacement water heater I got at Home Depot. In response to my negative on-line review, DRF called me and agreed to refund my extra $149 payment. I still wish DRF had given me the needed information over the phone initially so that I didn't have to lug the first water heater into my basement and then out again to be replaced by a shorter water heater that I lugged down to the basement (to save on plumber delivery for an extra charge). But I was pleasantly surprised by DRF's offer to refund the $149 I paid for the first service call (that ended up with no installation -- only information on how much room I needed above my water heater to vent it properly, which is what I sought on the phone). So I have upgraded my rating on DRF. Once DRF actually installed the shorter water heater, they did a fine job. Andrew and Scott, the plumbers (plumber and apprentice) who did the installation were timely in their arrival. They did a good job. They cleaned up afterward. I had no complaints. I didn't really have any complaints about Jesse either, the first plumber who arrived. He just had to give me some bad news (the water heater I had was too tall to be vented properly) that wasn't his fault. I just wish the DRF phone-answering crew (mostly pretty good in the several calls I had with them) had connected me to an actual plumber who could have told me that I needed X inches of clearance at the top of my water heater. I'm still waiting for the county inspector to approve the installation done by DRF's Andrew, but I'm sure it will be approved. As far as I can tell, Andrew and Scott did a quality job. Once I get my refund of the $149, the price will also be reasonable. I called some other places, and no one is inexpensive. Water heater installation is more expensive than the water heater itself. And that is more true if you have to change the height of your water heater (fairly common, since modern water heaters are taller and wider than those of many years ago, because of improvements in insulation, etc.). The extra piping of the water lines and the gas line to a different profile water heater adds to the cost. So, overall, I highly recommend DRF. They are Home Depot's recommended installers. If you hire them to bring your water heater to your house (an extra charge) or if you are sure you have a water heater that has enough room above to be vented properly, then you should have a satisfactory experience with DRF as your installer. They will even install on the same day you call if you call in the morning. That's pretty fast service.

The technicians were punctual and professional. They explained what and why they were doing certain steps in the process. I will call them again for other plumbing jobs.

The copper work was unanticipated, but understandable. They do great work, although they are a little pricey. Happy with their service.

Gave them a 7 hour window where I would be home. Took a half day off of work to make myself more available. Was assured it would be done because I live in the same town the headquarters are located. No call, I had to call them and ask where they were. Can’t make it! I requested a 7 hour time slot in advance, no hot water, you’re telling me you can make a 11-6 time slot and charge $600+?!? Big waste of time, money, and personal day. Unless you’re available the entire day....

From initial phone call to installation was less than four hours. The team did a quality installation. This was our second hot water tank install by DRF. The price was initially quoted over the phone. I experienced about $200 in additional charges for retooling some of the gas and water piping. The team explained the charges and asked for approval before proceeding. The additional work was needed. Overall we were pleased.

We went through Home Depot for the water heater and installation. They contracted through DRF. The work and estimate were agreed upon and we were given an approximate time with a 30 minute "heads up" notification. DRF's Kevin and his assistant showed up on time and hit the ground running. They assessed the job, had the old heater isolated and removed and the new one installed and commissioned in very little time. Any water spilled was cleaned up, the area cleaned, the old heater removed and then operation of the unit was explained. The two worked great as a team and performed a lot of the tasks in parallel, using the most efficient means to save time. The entire operation was done in the projected time or less. I was totally pleased with the job and the two technicians who performed it. I definitely recommend DRF and especially the two men they sent out.

Andy and Clayton arrived promptly at the time dispatch indicated. They thoroughly explained the work needed, completed that work with care and efficiency, then checked and reviewed the details of the service with me. Very happy with the installation and associated maintenance work done and would definitely hire DRF again. (Note: DRF was engaged via Home Depot contracted installation.)

Brian and Kevin did a great job installing our new toilet. Needed a new shutoff valve and tubing going into the toilet due to age and they fixed that for us as well. Had the supplies needed. They also let us know about some things that might need to get fixed in the future with our copper pipes. They were friendly professional and completed the job quickly. Would recommend to others and will be using them again for future home improvements.
