Buff & Coat Hardwood Floor Renewal

Roy is apparently very busy as he needed several days to come by and then didn't follow up as promised. When I called he told me his opinion of my floor and gave me a quote. He made it clear that the damaged areas would not go away completely but that he could make them look better. I hired him to do the whole house. The undamaged floors look great and gleam, but they didn't really need it. The water damaged and the worn areas frankly didn't look any better to me or my family members or my painter when they saw the floor. I'm not upset, I knew the areas weren't going to improve a lot, but I am disappointed. I do not think I would use again except to make undamaged floors look great when I go to sell a property. I will say I failed to bring the check over that day and they were super nice about letting me mail it the next day. Also they were very clean, and left good instructions on how to maintain the floors.

It was dustless and we could walk on it in socks by evening. Looks great!

The technician arrived at exactly the time promised. The work was completed within the 6 hour time I was told. The finished job was beautiful. I would recommend them for anyone needing to have their floors refinished.

His crew came in and did a great job completing the work at the agreed upon date and time. We had just finished painting our home and were concerned about our newly painted baseboard trim getting stain on them. Ray was extremely polite and professional. Ray came over and explained exactly what I could expect from a buff and coat or refinish. I opted for refinish as the floors were pretty worn. The hard wood looks like new, it's gorgeous!

Ray was able to come over and provide an estimate within 24 hours of my request and we arranged for the work to be completed the following day. Ray was very clear as to what could and could not be done with the floor with their "buff and coat" process. While most of the nicks and scratches could be improved the deeper "gouges" could not be removed. Bryan arrived right on time the next day and went to work right away. I pointed out some problem areas to him and he noted some himself which he thought could use a little extra TLC. The whole process went very smoothly, took about 3 hrs to complete and I was told not to walk on it at all for about another 3-4 hours while the finish coat dried. After that I could walk on the floor (in socks only) until the next day. Furniture went back into the kitchen after 36 hours. I am happy with the work they did - I now have the next best thing to a new floor.

The owner, Ray, came to my home and thoroughly explained the entire process. He was able to measure and give me an estimate during his visit. We were able to schedule the work to be done within a short period of time. The gentleman who did the actual work came promptly and was able to finish his work in the predicted amount of time (8:30-1:30). I really did not have any dust residue left on my furniture. I was able to walk on the floor with stocking feet by 5:00 PM that afternoon. It is not completely odorless, but by the next morning I no longer noticed it. It would be comparable to the smell of a fresh coat of latex paint. I appreciated that Ray followed up to make sure everything met my expectations. I had researched this type of service on Angie's List and was very happy to find one that provided what I needed at a very good price. I knew I did not need a complete "take down," so I was very happy with the "buff & coat" option. Ray is very honest and direct, so I would recommend this service to anyone who would be looking for a good assessment of what currently exists and what is hoped for.

I called Ray at Buff & Coat. Told him that I had a blemish about the size of a basketball in my powder room floor that needed repair. Ray informed me that they had a technician working in my neighborhood and that he would have him stop by to take a look. Ray said that if the tech thought that B&C could handle it they would repair it right away. The tech came by repaired the hardwood in about 2 hours. Very responsive and professional firm. Highly recommend B&C and would definitely use them again.

My experience with this company proved to be one of the best I have ever had with a contractor. I called Ray and left a message describing the work to be done. Because we had just completed having the rooms drywall repaired and painted, most of the furnishings were out of the room and I thought that we should have the floors done while the rooms were empty which I mentioned to Ray in my voice mail. Ray contacted me quickly and we agreed on an estimate visit for the next day. Imagine my surprise when Ray called that day and mentioned that his technician, Israel had finished another job and could be at the house at around 12:30 pm to do the job. Israel arrived about 12:15 and began working immediately. The job was completed an hour earlier than expected (it took a total time of 3.5 hours. Ray came out to inspect as the work was being done and he went over all of the details including what would and would not be done with this process. The floors came out beautiful at a fraction of what it would have cost to refinish them and with no mess at all! The honesty and efficiency of this company is beyond any other contractor with whom I have worked in the past. I have been telling my story to everybody I come in contact with. The friendliness of both Ray and Israel was refreshing and appreciated.

Ray was very courteous and gave us a competitive price to buff and coat our floors in two rooms. His technician, Israel, arrived on time, and was very courteous and professional as well. He worked h****** our floors, and avoided spreading dust because his buffer was hooked up to a vacuum he wore on his back. The first solvent that was applied did have a strong odor, and we had to open the windows even though it was cold outside. The technician was able to repair some major scratches in our floors, and the resulting finish looked great. He was done in a matter of hours. He even helped to move some furniture with us before he started the job. They're good at what they do.

I thought they would have to replace the floor but they were able to refinish them. They were prompt and clean. They moved the furniture. They completed the work in one day. Their perfection is what stands out the most. I recommend them to everybody. There is no dust or dabrie when they are doing the floors.

They did a good job. It was beautiful after they were done with everything they said they were going to do. They were there on time. They checked back in with us. They were incredibly professional group. I thought the cost was more. It was 700 sq ft for $939. The worker was very professional and had all his materials. He provided good information for us to make a decision. It was information that was hard to sell. Actually, they were going to do the second floor if we have some more money.

They deep clean the wood, then they rough up the existing finish and add a new coat. It costs 35% less than having the floors redone entirely.

Ray is extremely helpful, punctual, and very good at what he does. The work was performed in a timely manner. They left absolutely no mess and the floor looks amazing. Ray followed up the next day to make sure we were completely satisfied! No reason to look any further!

I was very happy with this service. I would definitely use them again. They did a great job. There was follow up call to make sure I was happy and when I mentioned a small spot they missed, they immediately booked a time for a tech to come out and take care of it. They were friendly and professional. My floors look great and I felt it was a fair price for the work performed.

Ray Horan (owner) came out to provide an estimate and walk through the buff & coat process. Ray was very good at explaining what buff & coat would and would not do for us to set our expectations correctly. His partner came out the night before to make look for imperfections and "gotchas" and nailed down a few of the boards that had misaligned after 17 years of use. The nails were almost invisible. One of Ray's crew came over about 8:15am as promised and immediately began working to vacuum and then tape off any abutting carpets or fixtures (fridge, toilet, etc) that would be splashed by the sealer. He also puttied some of the gaps in the wood that would be more obvious and also began the buffing process. Reassurance is one thing, so we trusted (but verified) that in fact his process was dustless! Because buff & coat does not get down to the bare wood (albeit just about at that layer), there is no dust. But that's also the reason it's called buff & coat because the "dings" in the floor don't get sanded out nor does any gray areas or deep fades. That a process that would take several days and not one provided by buff & coat. We got exactly what we wanted a floor that was clean and consistently polished end to end that looks great. The process took about 8 hours start to finish with the application of the sealer and we had to stay off of it for 4 hours. So, backing into the garage and catching a longer evening dinner was a good reward. Note: there is no dust, but there is a little odor - although no more or less than you would get if you applied your own floor polish / cleaner. We've now tried to stay off the floor for 48 hours as much as possible and just socks / no shoes to make sure the sealer is cured as best possible. So tonight (3 days later) we'll move the furniture back. We also did this over a weekend when we knew outdoor activities, work and leaving our dogs with Grandma would help the process and keep traffic down. Ray has a solid team and we'd recommend them to anyone.

Ray was honest about the work that he could do and delivered on that promise. He had a tech call in sick the day of our appointment and tried to push out the schedule another month which we weren't happy about but he resolved the issue and came out within a few days after our initial appointment and finished the job. We had about 500 square feet of oak flooring. The tech was polite and efficient and restored our floors which had heavy wear marks to a near new look. They told us that because we had worn through to the wood that it may not be perfect but it exceeded our expectations and the floor looks great. It was also a fraction of the price and mess of a complete re-sand and stain. Overall satisfaction with the result and the process.
