Have used them before a few times in past years have never been satisfied with the job ( price quoted never matches price you pay!) and we were not satisfied with the job they did last time at all, messy and did not do a complete job . We referred them to friends several times in recent years none of which would ever use them again , seems like they have gone down hill in the last few years. Be careful not to hire this company would be my advise!

Avalon found ways to add hidden fees onto their price. What I paid was not what was quoted. Even got dinged for ash in the fireplace. I vacuumed the fireplace out the night before but the chimney sweeper found the least little bit in a corner. I got rid of what he found in literally under a minute. He dinged me for a "start up delay" fee of $35.00. $35.00 / minute - nice pay if you can get it! He also tried to get me to sign off on other services that were not needed.

On October 30 I got an estimate from a Ron Ellison for masonry work. He commented on previous patchwork and quoted what I thought was a high price for total tuckpointing on brick facing. On November 2 I got an estimate from Rick Derucki of Avalon. He quoted a total tuckpointing price substantially lower than the first estimate. More to the point, he checked the chimney and with phone video showed me the need for a new liner and cap. This was more important and more affordable. On November 12 Rick and Jerry did the contracted work. They worked steadily for three hours and cleaned up, even taking debris from the old flue and making sure the cap was on straight. I'm thankful they solved a problem I wasn't aware of and which could have resulted in other serious problems.

After my husband and I purchased our 1st home, we knew from our home inspection that our chimney was filthy and needed to be cleaned asap prior to starting a fire this coming winter. I did some research online and found Avalon, saw some good reviews on their website so decided to call them up, even though I was hesitant calling a company I had never worked with or heard about from a friend/family before. Richard (company owner) was here promptly, very thorough in explaining the whole process to me, and despite my concerns of our chimney NEVER being cleaned in it's 10 years of existance, he only charged a little bit extra for a 'deep cleaning' He also explained how far away furniture needs to be away from a chimney, how often you should get a cleaning along with much more pertinent information. He also got on our roof and looked at the top of the chimney to make sure all was in working order up there, which thankfully it was. I will definitely call Richard again next time when we need our chimney cleaned. Thanks!! It's nice to still see honest and respectful service-men in this world!
