Description of Work: Our sewer was backing up in the basement, they came out and tried to clear the line but something was blocking it. So they ended up having to dig out in the street and found that the neighbors sewer line had broken and had caused ours to back up. It took about 8 or 9 hours to complete everything, but the guys were so friendly and explained everything to us. The equipment they use does amazing work and they were also very safety conscious. I would definitely call them again, but hopefully I will never have too!!! (Thankfully the City had to pick up the bill on this one!)

Nothing has been done to correct the situation and it is still unfinished. Her yard is trashed and looks horrid. If this page would allow, I would show pictures and really give an accurate description of the damage done to her yard. It's amazing that no one takes pride in their work anymore!
Description of Work: Neighbors of my mother's had to have their water lines dug up. John's Service and Sales of Oglesby was contracted to do the job. They sub-contracted the work to Illinois Valley Excavating. I.V.E. performed the work on the neighbor's property, but proceeded to dump all of their "dirt" into my mother's yard and not on the street burm. When questioned about this, they replied "We didn't want to get the rocks dirty". So, my mother was left with an 8 foot by 8 foot by 5 inch thick SLAB of clay in her yard. When complaints were made to John's Service and Sales (because they were the contractor of record) they came out and looked at it and sent I.V.E. back out. They used a backhoe to break up the clay and a man tossed it in a bucket from his hands and knees. They still left about 2 to 3 inches thick of clay left in the yard. Complaints were made, once again, but no one came to look at it or had any answers. So, now that it is spring, the clay is still in the yard along with an 8 foot by 8 foot section of my mother's yard that is still all clay. Calls were placed to John's Sales and Service and the first answer that was given was, "Just plant grass seed on it. It will stick better that way". Grass will not grow in clay! So, another call was placed and STILL nothing has been done to correct the situation. First of all, my mother wasn't even the one getting work done to her yard! Why should an innocent by-stander have to be inconvenienced AND have their property destroyed?! To date, nothing further has been done to correct this situation. We are caught in the middle because it wasn't her yard receiving the work AND the original contractor of the job sub-contracted the job.... In our eyes, BOTH of these parties are at fault! Neither has really done anything to correct the situation. I wouldn't do business with either one of them. A post will also be made on John's Service and Sales.
