IKE HATCHETT FLOOR FINISHING

Overall, the process was terrible. Dan was terrible to communicate with. Dan will only respond in a timely manner to communications from my husband, not from me. That’s insulting on many fronts, but primarily it’s insulting because I am the one paying for this project and the one who owns the home. In the process of sanding our floors, the protective strip of wood between the wood floor and tile floor was removed. Our tiles have been noticeably cracked and damaged. So now we need to redo the floor in the kitchen. A photo was taken from upstairs of our home of the floors. While this photo was taken, the photographer did not realize that they had wood stain on their shoes. There are lovely wood stain foot prints going up the stairs and to the landing. So the carpeting throughout the entire second floor now needs to be replaced. In short, all of the remaining flooring in our home needs to be replaced despite the fact that we bought a home a year ago that needed no new flooring. Dan also experienced multiple delays which kept us out of our home for an additional week. When we were told the home would finally be ready, I showed up and no doors were hung, outlet covers were not on, and vents were not replaced. Dan made it seem like some of these things were items I could manage. Truthfully, I could, but I paid for a service and he should deliver. Also, he handed me the parts of our light switch in our hallway and said, “For some reason this kept falling apart.” Our light switch was not broken when we left, and it is now in multiple parts. Logic would dictate that you broke it. It’s a $2 part, I do not care that it got broken in this process. I do care that he tried to act like he had no clue what happened. Lastly, our steel front door was damaged while he was working here. I would not recommend him due to the fact that he took no ownership in any of his sloppy craftsmanship. I also forgot to mention this, we have to replace all of our baseboards due to damage from his work.

The floors are absolutely beautiful! They look better than I ever imagined they would. I highly recommend Ike. His work is phenomenal, his prices are great, and he is very personable.

I would recommend them 200%. It was the most reasonable quote that I had. He is just super and I have recommended him to many people.

Ike refinished floors in a small Peoria Heights house. He even told us we could save some money by doing some of the work ourselves, but we let him do it all. Great job!

I previously posted about the incredible work Ike did on our downstairs and hallway. Since then, he also did a wonderful job refinishing floors for my grandmother. Unfortunately, our last experience was really disheartening. We initially spoke with Ike a month before the work was actually completed. His partner had jury duty the week they were scheduled to come, and so the work had to be put off (which we understood). I am not sure if what ensued was due to the long stretch of time in between the initial discussion and the work being done, but know we were left feeling not only let down by the work, but also put off by the way in which we were treated. I should preface this by saying that Ike said he thought we would be better off having new floors put in. After looking into this, we still wanted to go with refinished (albeit imperfect) floors. We agreed that we knew the floors would not be perfect but Ike would do his best. My disappointment is not in how the floors that Ike did turned out, but rather that he did not do the work that was agreed upon. Before work started, we called Ike to ask about moving the refrigerator in the kitchen and about a few tiles left on the floor by the stove and dishwasher. In response to the fridge, Ike said to leave it there. While this surprised us, he said that he had a system in which he would move the fridge to a different part of the kitchen and then move it back. In regards to the tile, my husband called and said we were having trouble removing a few a tiles and Ike said to not worry, he "had a guy for that." Neither of these were taken care of. The fridge was never moved and the tiles were left untouched. Both of these could have been done by us in advance, but we are both teachers and have a 1 year old and 3 year old, so we were happy to pay someone else to save ourselves the time. We stopped by the house on the second day of work and saw that the fridge had been sanded around and the tiles were still on the floor and so called Ike right away. His response was "I don't move fridges and I don't do tiles. If you want us to stop the job, we can just keep the deposit and consider it finished." It was as though our earlier conversations had never taken place. In addition, there was no effort to offer solutions or remedy the situation. We had neither the time nor expertise to finish the floors on our own and Ike had made it clear that the matter was not open for discussion. We have a check in the mail for the remainder of the balance but feel crummy about the whole experience.

I had seen the rave reviews about Ike Hatchett Floor Finishing on Angie's list so I was pretty impressed with Ike even before meeting him. Impressed doesn't even begin to describe my feelings about Ike Hatchett and his assistants. I had purchased an old home on Moss Avenue which had smelly carpet saturated with pet odor. I pulled up the carpet in the bedrooms and the resulting hardwood floors were covered with paint, spackle, grime, and other assorted nastiness and stains. My initial reaction was that I was going to need new floors. I called Ike and he immediately came to my house to survey my situation and give me an estimate. I was shocked at the reasonableness of his estimate but wasn't sure anyone could save my floors. Ike made me a believer. The results were beyond phenomenal. Never in a million years could I have imagined the results of his work. I have seen Michelangelo's David, Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, and now I have seen floors done by Ike Hatchett. As a person, Ike is a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

This is one of the best companies I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We hired Ike to re-finish the original hardwood floors in our dining and living rooms. The floors had definitely seen better days. Ike was extremely informative about the type of wood, condition and quality. I have never met a more professional and courteous team than Ike and his son-in-law. The work was done quickly and of extremely high quality. It has been nearly 5 months and the floors look like new! No need to call anyone else, your price+quality+professionalism from this company has no competition.

It went great! I had heard many good things about Ike and see his vans in our neighborhood all the time (older area). He did a wonderful job and for a reasonable price. I have already recommended him to others and will definitely hire him again should we decide to have more of our floors refinished.

smoothly as usual with Ike

First I would like to say if your are considering Ike, then go ahead and choose him. I took bids from two contractors listed on Angies list. One contractor told me my oak floors were too far gone to refinish. Ike on the ohter hand assured me the job could be done and walked the floors with me showing me just how the job would be completed. Ike and his son in law Dan communicated well prior to the job and showed up on time. I even received photos via text on the progress of the job. The job is even better than I had hoped for. My 100 yr old oak floors look new! I am very proud of my new floors and as Ike promised they look like a million bucks. Ike is a true professional with a 28 years experience and it shows! Im sure the other floor finishers say..I want to be like Ike.

Absolutely wonderful. Ike and his son-in-law did all the work from the estimate to the final touches. The floors are beautiful. Ike repaired areas that had been cut up for air vents and they look better than we could have expected. We forgot to remove some carpet and tile that they kindly took care of it and were very nice about doing the extra work. Little touches like quarter-round and blending floors between rooms made a big difference. I would highly recommend Ike and plan to use him when we redo bedrooms upstairs.

I called Mr Hatchett regarding the job and he returned my call that very evening, set up a date ASAP to come and give me a quote. His quote was very reasonable and much lower than another prominent floor refinisher in town that I had previously worked with. I accepted his bid and we set up a date for him to do the work. Mr Hatchett, his son-in-law and nephew arrived the date we scheduled, right on time and were there for exactly 2 days to do the job - sanding the first day and finishing the second - the whole process was great - very little mess and FANTASTIC job of finishing. All 3 gentlemen were very professional and they did their job exactly as promised!!! I would and have recommended Ike Hatchett and his crew to everyone - we are fortunate to have this professional in our area!! Great Job Ike!!!! Thank you - love the floors!

Ike responded promptly to my request for an estimate, and his came in lower than the other we received. Since he seemed highly competent and professional, we went with him. We are very glad we did. The floors look great and Ike and his crew were very easy to work with. Moreover, Ike didn't nickel and dime us on the "little" things that came up during the job (e.g., there was subflooring beneath the carpet in one of the bedrooms; we decided we wanted quarter-around). His prices seem extremely reasonable. We recommend that you consider Ike Hatchett Flooring for your hardwood flooring work.

I thought he did a very good job. He was very respectful of the property and wanting to make it look nice and have a nice appearance. He charged per square foot depending on how dark the finish was going to be. He responded promptly. He loves wood and he loves his work. I did not compare his price with anyone else but it was the same or cheaper than putting carpeting down.

Ike and his sons did a BEAUTIFUL job on my floors. Their prices were very reasonable, they were exceptionally professional, friendly, fast workers. You will NOT believe the job that they did, amazing. I would 100% recommend them to ANYONE looking to have their floors professionally refinished.

UNBELIEVABLE JOB!! These guys know exactly what they are doing and will 100% WOW you!! We jumped around with several different flooring businesses, and no one stood out quite like Ike and the crew!! Ike was professional and prompt with answering our questions and offering a quote that was incredibly reasonable and satisfying to our needs. He was ON TIME every single time and would even call with updates, which I believe is unheard of with laborers nowadays.
