Excellent - Tony and Vito gave us a complete estimate. Tony promptly answered all of our questions via email. They had to remove the old flooring - then determine what additional work needed to be done. They worked with my husband and provided a very fair additional cost. The workmanship is excellent on the installation. We are very pleased with the service and the quality of their work.
Description of Work: Removal of wood laminate floor and installation of travertine stone flooring in entire room. This was a difficult job -- installation of 18 x 18 stone on the 5th floor of a walk up building.with furniture that had to first be moved to the 4th floor for access and then returned.

Overall it went well. There was about a 5 to 6 week delay in getting a bid in good form, but once it was received and our Board selected it for the marble work at our condo association, the work was scheduled and completed on a timely basis. The work was very well done, at a very reasonable price. It would have been nice if they had attempted to clean up the marble dust that covered our three hallways when they finished, but they did not, so that dust was present until our regular cleaning crew made its next appearance.
Description of Work: Replaced two marble steps and risers in one of our three entranceways. Diamond honed, polished and sealed the marble in the three entrance ways. Replaced the silicone on the marble walls. Cleaned the walls.

I picked Nino's Tile based on their reports on Angie's List, which were excellent. I first approached them via e-mail and Tony came out to look at my job. It was a very small job (as noted, short tile backsplash in a small kitchen) but Tony treated it with the greatest respect and gave me a fair price. (I know this because I had contacted one other outfit which, while equivalent in price, could not bother with my job for several months!!) Tony set up a very near-in date for me. I REALLY wanted this to happen fast as I had company coming and 'though I did not press him, he knew my ideal outcome and made it happen by working in his time before, and following, a larger job not far from my address. As we first discussed the job and I showed him my materials (I had selected the tile beforehand), he gave me some expert recommendations on open issues such as grout color, caulk and the orientation of the trim piece I had chosen. It was so reassuring and I know my decisions were much better ones as a result. The nature of tile installation involves multiple steps and time between steps. He made 3 trips to my address for this small job! At the end I felt a WEE bit guilty for applying his Angie's List discount of 5%, and said so, but in that it had motivated me to zero in on him, I did anyway! In the end, I >could not have been happier< with the final result. It turned out better than I could have imagined and did I ever congratulate myself for not doing it myself (which HAD BEEN my very first impulse weeks prior)! Their work's professionalism and quality proved to be excellent and Tony and his brother could not be more cordial to work with. Definitely, they are my tile guys for anything I need in the future. Having a great resource is a good feeling.
Description of Work: My job was installation of tile as a short backsplash in my small kitchen, which I had just had re-modeled. I wanted the tile to be my kitchen's "jewelry". How it turned out mattered a lot. Nino's prepped the wall surface and installed a 4" height of mosaic tile and a somerset trim piece over about 22' of linear distance, as well as a higher area behind the stove. This involved surface prep, thinset (adhesive for the tile), grouting, cleaning, sealing, and, caulking at the joint with the granite countertop.

The job took about a week. The tile looks excellent and the workmanship is fantastic. Nino obviously has significant experience: no one else suggested the membrane nor did they suggest using tile instead of baseboards (in case of moisture in the basement. Very smart!) There was some awkwardness over honoring an Angie's List coupon and seeking of payment in advance but those issues were resolved.
Description of Work: Installed a membrane (to cover cement floor cracks) and ceramic tile in a basement. Approx. 1000 square feet of tile. Price did not include the tile, I purchased that separately.

Nino was able to come over very quickly and completed the work that same day. He was very knowledgeable about the limestone and how best to care for it. His repair of the edge cannot even be seen because it blends in so well with the rest of the surface. Very good to work with their company.

Nino's team, led by Tony, was very professional in every aspect of the transaction. They showed up for the estimate right on time and they were careful to ask very detailed questions about what I wanted. I had chosen a multi-material, multi-color tile and Tony was great about helping select the appropriate grout color. Tony and his brother installed the tile very efficiently with little waste or mess. They cleaned up thoroughly after themselves every day. The install for approximately 30 sq ft of space took 1.5 days. The initial estimate provided was exactly what I was charged. The ONLY issue I had, hence the A-/B on quality is that they left behind quite a bit of grout on the stamped (uneven surface) tiles in the pattern. It was hard to see when the tile was still wet, but was clear when it dried. Not sure it could have been avoided given the way the grout is applied, but I did have to do significant post-install cleaning to try and remove it. When I emailed Tony on suggestions, he responded immediately and also offered to help resolve the problem. All in all an excellent experiece.

I started to install marble tile in my shower myself and quickly found myself in over my head, marble is much more difficult to tile than normal tile I found out. I laid most of the full tiles myself but when it came to the cuts with the wet saw it didn't go so well. The wet saw was great and easy to use but to get the cuts even and the right size was extremely challenging. Nino came in and finished the job I started, cleaning all the excess thin set I left behind (I didn't realize what a bad job I did), fixing many of the tiles I messed up on, and cutting and laying the remainder of the shower and finishing the job. Nino did an excellent job, I just had a baby and had family coming to town and he started the job within two days to finish it for me as soon as possible. He worked extremely hard and the shower turned out phenomenal. He was also extremely professional and gave me all kinds of advice to make sure my shower would last and be protected. He even gave me tips on my bathroom sink and floor, as well as my faucets. I would absolutely use Nino again and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Finished tiling my marble shower after I found myself in over my head. Fixed my poorly laid tiles, laid the remainder of the tiles with complicated cuts, and grouted.

Nino did a great job - I would use him again for all my marble / tile needs.
Description of Work: Nino did a fantastic job cleaning the marble in our entryway. We recently moved into a townhouse and wanted to improve the look of the foyer, since it is original (~30 years old). Nino did a great job cleaning it and polishing it - the marble shines and looks like new. I would definitely recommend him for ANY marble / tile work - he is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to interact with.

I called on a Wednesday and was anxious to get the work done quickly. They came the next day and finished in 2 days. I had purchased the tile and caulk myself but didn't get enough. Tony and Vito actually went to the store to pick up more (they had to go to Deerfield and I live in Evanston!). They cleaned everything up before they left. Since I live in a condo, they were mindful of the building rules for contractors, which was most appreciated. I would definitely use Nino's Tile again.

I'm delighted with the job Nino and Tony did. My very old & ugly ceramic-tiled shower stall now looks brand new & beautiful. I called Nino's for an estimate; he & Tony came the same day because they had another job nearby. They listened carefully to my problem (I've been finding water now & then on the floor of the furnace room adjacent to the shower and the tenant advised that the shower stall's grout & caulk were crumbling, so we think the shower was probably leaking through.) They (Nino & Tony) inspected everything, gave their estimate, and did the job then & there and left no mess. They did a beautiful job, and I'm confident that the now gorgeous shower won't leak. Nevertheless, they said to call them if I have any problem whatsoever & they'd return. They're both professional, competent, & helpful. They even did some unrelated, additional cosmetic tile repair in the room at no cost. Since I don't know for certain that the shower stall was the culprit causing the water in the furnace room, we're not yet positive that problem's resolved; however, if we DO find water again, we're sure it won't be from the shower stall.

I called Nino and scheduled an appointment to get an estimate. Nino came at the scheduled time and we discussed the project and options. The next day, Nino called and gave me an estimate over the phone. After a few weeks while I had some other work done, I called Nino to accept his estimate and schedule the work. Nino was quite flexible and was able to start work within a week. Nino's sons came to the house and completed the work over the period of a week. I am quite happy with the quality and appearance of the work.
Description of Work: We had a bit of water in the basement this past fall, and we decided to replace the carpet with tile. We decided based on looks and the unevenness of the floor to install a small mosaic hexagon tile. In summary, Nino's sons prepared basement cement floor for tile installation, installed porcelain 1 inch hexagon tile with a border, grouted and sealed tile. Approximately 500 sq ft.

Nino called back within a day to schedule an appointment, I explained that we were looking at both tile and carpeting, but hadn't decided which way to go. We scheduled for the following week at 10am. No one showed up or called, even though I waited a couple of hours. In the afternoon, around 3pm, he called to say he had been detained by another job, but could come over within an hour to look. Once he arrived, we had an informative discussion about the options, and what choices we had with under-lays and the tile. I explained that in our recreation room, the tile already existed near door to garage, at the fireplace and in the hallway to the rest of the lower level, and we would want something that blended in with it. I, again, explained we hadn't decided whether to go with tile or with carpet and our reasoning. He seemed to understand, asked to take a couple of spare pieces of tile we had with him so he could give us a better estimate, by trying to see what he could match to the existing tile. He was pushing to go ahead, as he said he could start the next Monday if we wanted to move ahead. He called that night to give an estimate, but there was no detail to it. He gave us a number that included everything. After considering it and the fact that it would have been twice as much as carpeting to install and Nino was encouraging us to get floor rugs to put on top of the carpet in the rec room, I said we weren't going to proceed. He seemed upset, then called us back the next morning to say he would lower the price by $2000. At this point, we were uncomfortable with the sales approach and said no, we weren't interested and would appreciate him dropping off the tile samples when he was back in the area. The estimate we got from him was not very detailed compared to the estimate we got from another tiler, who had detailed out the square footage by room, had broken out the mortar cost, the underlay, the spacers, the tile and the labor cost. I wish we had something like that from Nino so we could have known what was driving the cost and made an adequate comparison to the other firm. Very disappointing was the way he reacted when I said no, that we had decided to go with carpet, especially after I had clearly stated up front that we hadn't decided which way to go. I never did get back the tile samples he took either.
Description of Work: Was evaluating whether to replace carpet damaged by flooding in basement, or to upgrade with ceramic tile. Tile would have been installed in guest bedroom, storage closet and recreation room which included a pool table.

The father (Nino) and both of his sons are knowledgeable and talented. They installed the tile quickly and accurately (as the tile was expensive, we didn't want to order too much excess). They worked through lunch to get the job done quickly, which was much appreciated. As the photos demonstrate, they did a beautiful job. We also had a problem with our previous contractor installing our fireplace tile incorrectly and a corner had broken off. We were somewhat apprehensive as to how to fix the problem so it would look nice. Nino and Tony were able to fix the broken tile and fixed the problem with the other tiles so that it looks great. Also, although our previous contractor had supposedly sealed our granite countertops, Nino showed us that they actually had not been sealed and did the sealing job for us, which was much appreciated.
Description of Work: We had already chosen a tile backsplash and design for our kitchen, so we were looking for someone to install it. It has different-sized tiles in a somewhat complex pattern, using both natural stone tiles and copper tiles, which required good planning and lots of cutting and fitting.

Nino was very prompt to return our call and arrived to give us an estimate within hours. He was very thorough in his review and took the time to look under the shower entry lip to see if the area had been correctly sealed. Furthermore, he pointed out that the wrong caulk had been used on the master bath tile. Within 24 hours we had an estimate and the work began three days later. The work lasted approximately 3 days. He and his sons worked very methodically and were extremely clean and professional. We feel much better having the work done since many builders do not seal the granite/marble in new construction, and we know this will protect our investment for years to come.
