The start to finish time of the job was about 7 weeks. My wife and I were completely satisfied with every aspect of quality work that was done. Any concerns along the way were always addressed immediately and never ignored. Our project manager would pick his phone up even on a late weekend afternoons. Sam was always pleasant and professional when we would call the office. It was nice dealing with the same people and never worring about not being on the same page. I really cant find anything bad to say about company, they truelly backed up everything they said they would do in the contract. They finished all the work in a timely manner were clean and respectful to me and my wife, along with my neighbors. We plan to finish our basement in fall and are currently working out the details and price with them.
Description of Work: We bought our first home out of foreclosure and had our kitchen and master bathroom completely gutted and fully remodeled. New hardwood floors and cabinets in the kitchen along with granite counter tops with a drop in sink with under cabinet lighting to show their brilliance. Also some track lighting was added and viking exhaust fan above the cooking/stove area. Our master bathroom was gutted as well. We had duel vanity custom glass bowl sinks put in with granite counter tops. We also had a triangle shaped whirlpool tub added, and floor to ceiling glass shower with a rain shower head and body sprayers. We had the floors done in a non slip stone with timer heated coils underneath. We had the shower tiled in marble, and the marble also was added to the deck and walls of the whirlpool. The color we used is Blue pearl(very sharp). Our project manager arranged a one on one apointment at Dahl tile with a tile and granite specialist. Dahl was helpful in grout and color options. We also had a super quiet ceiling exhaust fan added. Last but not least we had a flat screen tv put over the whilrpool. We also had all new trim and paint done throughout the kitchen and master bath.

My experience with NR was not very good. I hired NR to remodel a kitchen, powder room and master bath. When I first met with Luke, I liked that he had many references and he said I would have project management. I called many of their references and everyone I talked to had only good things to say abut NR. Since they were recommended and I thought I'd be getting project management, I hired them to do the work. NR subcontracted the project to workers that were disorganized, made mistakes, and did things that showed they didn?t care, didn?t understand instructions and had no pride in their work. The work site was consistently dirty. They said they could, but ended up not being able to completely follow detailed drawings I gave them for laying tile patters, placement of outlets, etc. When they had a doubt or a question about what to do, they didn?t call me to talk about it, they just made their own call about how to handle. I didn?t get project management. In fact, the ?project manager? Mike Cooper added no value to the process. He came to the site once a week to check on things, and there was a foreman for the day to day supervision of the work. Despite all this management I was supposed to be getting, I was the one that had to point out to them that the wrong tile was laid in the bathroom, that the tile pattern in the master bathroom was not according to the drawings, that they didn?t put insulation behind the bathroom walls. I ended up being the project manager. Mike Cooper never proactively reached out to me to talk about any progress or issues with my project - I was the one calling him. There was very poor communication, no project management, and Luke and Mike were not helpful when I brought issues to their attention - they were just annoyed with me, defensive and rude.

Luke came out and we went over what we wanted to do. We had an architect draw up plans and went over them with Luke and he came back with a bid within a week. The bid was in between the other two bids that we got but we felt more comfortable with NR given the size of the project. We moved out in May and they started demo right on time. The project went pretty smooth for the most part. We had some problems with the framing. We were able to live next door, so we were able to keep an eye on everything every day. That would be my only complaint. The foreman were not around the project as much as I expected. Bill and Mike were very knowledgeable but had I not been there everyday checking up on things some things may have been looked over. When I did bring things up to them they were very responsive and accommodating. Timing was very important to us and they started and finished on time. It took about 4 months from start to finish so we were very pleased. The craftsmanship was very good and professional. We've lived in the house for 5 months and have been very pleased with everything. We had a defective door (Home Depots fault not NR) which had to be replaced twice and both times they came right out and replaced it. They have been very responsive even after the project has long been done. We did go over the original budget but that was no fault of NR there were just unforseen things that come up when u totally gut a 104 year old house. We were very pleased that we choose NR and would do it all over again in a heart beat.
Description of Work: Totally gutted and remodeled our 104 year old two flat to a single family home. Went down to the studs. Redid the kitchen, two bathrooms, four bedrooms and living area, including all new plumbing, electrical, insulation and floors.

They are very responsive. We had a couple of issues (wrong tub was accidentally delivered and installed while we were out of town), tile done wrong, but they returned within a couple of days from learning of the problems and completely re-did the work that was necessary. From sales to office manager to project manager to the ones doing the work, everyone was extremely professional, punctual, responsive, and very easy to work with.
Description of Work: They completely gutted our bathroom and replaced all the fixtures, walls, floors, tile, lighting--everything. We made most of the selections, but their team provided valuable input and helped with the actual purchasing when it was easier for them to do so. They also replaced all the pipes in the house with copper pipes, and converted an old fuse box to a breaker box.

The men came out exactly when they said they would, reported every day at 8am and worked the whole day every day until work was done. They cleaned up every night, even hand washing the floor to remove dust. Both of us were so impressed by their professionalism and efficient work. Project took 4 wks as estimated. Both bathrooms look beautiful! We are both completely satisfied. Work is guaranteed for 1 year. Worker had to come out to reconfigure a shelf over sink that was not secure. Came out promptly and fixed it. I recommend this Co. to everyone. It was exactly how a remodeling project SHOULD work but hardly ever does.
Description of Work: I submitted this report last winter 08 but it is not there for some reason. The estimate requested was prompt and very reasonable. We had a new bathroom put in on first and second floors of our 6 flat condo bldg. One above the other. They had to gut a hall closet, small hall to other bathrm, reconfigure 2 walls of room off small hall, and build in a new, small 2nd bath in each condo, and bring up a new toilet stack and water pipes from basement. Bathrm on each floor included toilet, sink and shower stall.

The RFP was e-mailed with a request to immediately acknowledge receipt and to express intent to respond within 3 days. Other vendors expressed intent to respond the day the RFP was received. But Neighborhood did not even acknowledge receipt of the e-mail. I called to inquire whether they had received the RFP. Samantha, who handles initial inquiries, said she had received the e-mail but didn't respond and didn't open the file, because they receive hundreds of e-mails with viruses in them everyday (ridiculous). She agreed to open the file if I resent the RFP. She then declined the opportunity to propose within minutes of receiving the file. Clearly, she did not take more than a few minutes to look at the detailed, 17-page document (I have the e-mail time stamps to prove this). I would say that this business is either backward, or fearful of disciplined, competitive evaluation. Why would anyone want to spend tens of thousands of dollars with them?
Description of Work: I would be suspicious of this remodeler's pricing, because they flee from competitive evaluations. I issued a professional, detailed, 17-page Request-For-Proposal for a complete internal remodel of a 1700sf condo, including floors, kitchen and baths. While several other remodelers embraced the opportunity to compete for the job, Neighborhood Remodelers declined without considered review of the RFP. Further, the office staff lacks polish, professionalism and (I think) common sense.

Overall experience was very good. Start to finish was six weeks, and some delay was due to cabinets not being all in. Quality of work is excellent. We had *some* fairly minor communication issues and a few days of guys not showing up to work, but the project managers and office personnel are very responsive, return phone calls/emails, and usually got the issue resolved quickly. I was also most pleased at how professionally the billing/invoicing/lien waivers were done. I will definitely call them again for my next major project.
Description of Work: Full kitchen remodel. Nearly gutted. Also a cosmetic remodel of an adjacent powder room and an upstairs shower. Floors, ceilings, drywall, tile, installed appliances, cabinetry, ran new electric and plumbing, installed mouldings, fixtures, painted, etc, etc....

Very professional and organized firm-they are more structured and reputable than other remodelers-but you will pay for that. I called 5 remodelers to come out and bid on my project. They were the highest, we are talking about $6,000 more on a $9K project. I gave each remodeler a list of what I wanted done and told them to estimate based that list-so I am 100% confident each bid was based on the same level of work. Each remodeler was licensed and insured.
Description of Work: They came in to bid on my remodeling project. Below is a summary of what they bid on: Rip out and replace 9 doors(including door jams), re-trim baseboards(1000 sq feet of space), paint, patch, sand floors and re-stain floors.

The work went wonderfully. The team was here on time each day, they cleared the garbage out of our yard, they were respectful to our time and our home. In particular, because they knew we were on a tight timeline, they made every effort to not only finish the project on time, but also helped us move and organize the furniture in our office! One hard part came when our plexiglass arrived and it wasn't what we envisioned. They were creative in coming up with a solution which allowed us to install the plexiglass and it look better than I expected!
Description of Work: We had a side porch that wasn't being utilized. Luke and his team of Mike Cooper and Paul came could see what we were trying to do and were able to design and make recommendations to using the space as an office throughout the year without disturbing the exterior of our heritage home.

It was great working with Neighborhood Remodelers. They were quick to come out and give me an estimate and were very professional. They were not the most expensive nor were they the cheapest of the companies I looked at, but they were the most impressive and seemed the most dependable. They did a complete gut of my bathroom. It turned out that there was more to demo than expected because the previous family tiled over the original tile instead of removing the old tile, but that didn't affect the price. They also took care of picking up all of the products I picked out so that I wouldn't need to do the running around. The finished product is great. My only complaints are that the project took a week longer than estimated and I only have one bathroom, so I had to go to the gym every morning to shower. And they did not move or cover things in the basement before doing the demo, so it will probably take years to get all of the drywall dust and remnants out of my Christmas tree and other items I had stored in the basement.

We emailed NR over the weekend and received a response first thing Monday morning. Two other contractors never responded. Luke made an appointment for Saturday morning and was right on time. Past contractors had to be reminded to show up at all. The estimate was quite good. It covered important detail we had not thought about and increased our basic budget considerably. We are on hold until we can move forward financially due to recent market issues.

According to the contract, the shower was due to be out of use no more than 5 days. Marek (the guy that did all the work) did the whole job in three days by starting around 6:30 am and finishing well into the evening, despite the fact that the tile floor and painting were both added to the original scope. We met with the foreman and salesman on Monday to scope the job. They were knowledgeable and accommodating. Then, instead of being weeks before they could start, they started demo at 6:30 am Wednesday, since that's when the faucet was scheduled to arrive. This guy, Marek, is the hardest working guy I've ever seen. He carried a 300+ lb cast iron bathtub up the stairs by himself. The results were completely satisfactory.

The finished product is fabulous. The professionalism & response time of the Neighborhood guys is great - but this was a 6 week project that took 12 weeks. We had some major issues (initial bathroom framing incorrect, size of a custom vanity ordered incorrectly) that were a surprise, we didn't expect to have to watch every detail every day with Neighborhood. The other disappointment was the workers, while doing a good job at their task) had little appreciation for our property. We had an open can of paint thinner left on the new hardwood floors, wood furniture piled on wood furniture with no protection between the two, etc. There was also a lot of cleanup on our part-some expected, but Neighborhood bragged that there would not be. I might use them again because the final product is wonderful, but would have to think long and hard.

I can honestly say I don't have any complaints about NeighRem at all. Considering the scope of our project and the fact that it took place in the dead of winter, it could have been a nightmare, but our entire crew of staff and workers was fantastic. We started meeting with Luke in the summer and as our budget and ideas started to gel, he was really great about resubmitting bids and working with us to ensure our project worked financially and functionally suited our needs. The office staff was really attentive and persistent (in a good way) during our decision making process, making sure we didn't have any questions or concerns. Once we decided to move forward we worked with Dean the architect. He was really great about incorporating our ideas and was quick with redesigns, city permit requests etc. Our project started the Monday of Thanksgiving week. Peter our foreman and his crew were great. Despite the weather and the holidays, someone came to work almost every day and significant progress was made. They were very respectful and considerate of our limited living space and cleaned up nicely when they had to invade our first floor or basement, which was very helpful considering we have two kids under the age of five being confined to 3 rooms! Peter always called in advance to alert us to scheduling changes and to ok a new contractor's scheduled appearance. When our electrical was being upgraded, the power and the heat had to be off for several hours on a Saturday morning. Peter called to okay it with me and informed the electricians that they should try to work fast because we had small kids and the heat had to be on. They also called to check on us then came over the next day (a Sunday) to shovel our second floor after we got an unexpected 8 inch snowfall the day after they took our entire roof off....Such nice treatment. The quality of the work was great. We breezed through the inspection process. The framing inspector even told us that we had the best framing he'd seen all day. All of the subcontractors did great work, some were not as nice and respectful as "our" crew, but all were efficient. The office staff Sam and Kerin were good about providing status reports and making sure that our phone calls got returned. Sometimes there was miscommunication on what was due, when, so stay on top of that. Ultimately the project ended earlier than estimated (mid-February), but over budget because of structural deficiencies in our old house - code violation electrical, rotten roof boards and sagging floor boards, etc. and change orders that we came up with during the project, nothing that could have really been for seen before demo. All in all a great experience, we have already spent another $18k with them to replace windows and siding this May 08.

We were very impressed with their estimate. They allowed us an allowance on each item and gave us a list of vendors and a list of recommendations. It took them one full week to demolish the old bathroom - ceramic tile embedded in almost 2 inches of concrete, all done in the heat of the summer. Each day they arrived on time and worked the entire day. The rebuilding process went well - the two men who did the work were amazing and best of all, cleaned up every day. The foreman and one of the owners, Mike, came by often to check on things. The last step, sealing the tile, went wrong - they applied too much sealer, but within 24 hours they came back and removed most of it without grumbling. When it was all done, Mike came by to make sure we were happy. These were the nicest most accommodating people we've ever worked with. We did go over budget, but knew ahead of time because of their thorough estimate. A great company and we'd use them again in a minute.

I should not have scheduled the work until all my fixtures were in - there were some delays because my medicine cabinet and doors were not ready in time. (Not the fault of the contractor.) The company was extremely good about returning my phone calls and answering my questions. I only have the one bathroom and there was no time I was without a toilet, but the shower was not available for 3 weeks. The salesman had suggested a niche in the wall for shampoo, etc which I agreed would be ideal. When the tiling around the tub was done there was no niche. On the phone I was told they would give me a credit, but then about 2 days later the niche was added! I had to do some clean up at the end of the day in order to still use my tub. The actual number of work days was just what I was told it would be at the beginning (not counting the delays in getting the medicine cabinet and doors). There was one follow up visit to caulk around the base of the toilet; and a different company re-glazed my tub and a scratch had to be touched up later. I am very happy with the results!
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel: Replaced toilet, medicine cabinet and shower system. Added a light over the tub and moved the old electric outlet and made it GFI. Removed cultured marble panels around the tub/shower and tiled the area to the ceiling and the rest of the room 1/2 way up the walls. Painted. Also, replaced 5 interior doors and painted; reinstalled the glass doorknobs.

NR is very prompt. They worked every day that they could, including Saturdays. We broke through a wall from the kitchen to the dining room and they sealed everything off. Only a minimal amount of dust showed up in the rest of the house (and I have plaster and lathe). They added multiple suggestions to the design and their attention to detail was exceptional. There were a couple of "bumps" in the road, but they were handled professionally and above my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Gut kitchen down to studs. New design, new cabinets, new appliances & electrical updating. Finish basement stairs and move a door to bottom of stairs.

Well, it got off on a bad foot because after showing and repeatedly telling them that the walls were hard to break through, they blew me off and then had to call in a big man to do the work which took five days, not two. Time was again wasted on a pipe they discussed in Polish about for three days when I finally said to rod it. The rodding machine broke within 10-15 seconds of running so they went ahead and replaced the iron pipe with plastic and wanted to charge me extra for the very small piece of piping. I refused to pay it. When mixing the grout some of the water was spilled near two of my big trees and they are dying. All in all the guys were very nice and did good work. They also accommodated me when I designed something for the tub. A small ceiling light fixture doesn't sit perfectly and a small wall tack isn't in deep enough but other than that the bathroom (not a big bathroom but any means) is gorgeous and we are all very happy with it.
Description of Work: We had them gut our bathroom and totally remodel it to our specifications.

Neighborhood and Luke and Mike Cooper and Marek and Sam were wonderful. They worked off of several different ideas for maximizing our bathroom space and making both spaces look incredible. They did it all in 7 weeks between the closing and our move-in date and despite an order of fixtures gone missing, finished it in the nick of time. Every other dealer/business they recommended was great. They warranty their workmanship for 1 year and I had them recently come back for some tub re-caulking. Two weeks after the master bath was beautifully completed, we suffered a terrible roof leak, and they came in the next day to cut holes in the dry to prevent mold and once the roof was fixed the wall for a very good price. They were the most professional of the 7 re-modelers that came and gave me estimates. They were competitively priced in their estimate and had me sign off on every order change with the new cost/credit. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Description of Work: Powder room renovated, new fixtures. Master bathroom expanded, shower added, all new fixtures (double sink, tub, tiles) and good amount of tile work.
