We purchased our 1st home (a one story bungalow in Chicago) in August of 2012. The house was a fixer upper and we needed more room, so we decided to build a 2 story addition & a full 1st floor gut/remodel that included a gourmet kitchen and bathroom. We contacted a few companies and received 3 quotes that all came in close in price. We decided to go with Neighborhood Remodelers based on the fact that they are a family run company and able to offer us a complete package that included an architect, interior designer & cabinet designer & project management. Once we decided to move forward, Luke (salesman) came back out to the house along with the architect (Dean) kitchen designer (Jill) and project manager (Bill ). Dean provided us with three different design concepts to choose from & Jill provided us with cabinet drawings that we absolutely loved. After a few design sessions, we finalized the addition that we wanted built. From the beginning, Bill and the entire team were available anytime we had any questions or concerns. Once plans were finalized, they were submitted to the city for permit. Since a variance was needed, the permit processed took about 6 months. This was the most frustrating part of the whole project. When we received the permit, the guys started immediately, Once they did, the job went smoother than anticipated. While the project went great, there were a few bumps. The countertop island overhang was cut incorrectly. When I pointed this out to Bill, he told us not to worry and had a new one built and installed free of charge within a week. We were really impressed with their honesty and willingness to stand behind their work. I think what we appreciated the most while working with them is their willingness to work with us. Not everything will go as planned but having someone that is willing to work with you and give you options is key especially during a stressful time. Overall, the entire project took about 8 months and we really couldn?t be happier. We really enjoyed working with NR and will definitely be using them again in the future. We would definitely recommend NR to any of our friends and family. We really enjoyed working with Luke, Bill, and Jill.

We looked up companies on Angie's List that had an A rating and were in reasonable proximity to your house. When we called, we were able to talk to somebody right away and Luke was very quick in responding to our request for an estimate. The estimate was thorough and the pricing was within our ballpark so we decided to go with them. They saved us money by suggesting that we use a remnant for the vanity top. We took advantage of their in-house designer, Abby, who was very helpful in minimizing our time to decide on the design and the details of the bathroom. Wesley and Derek were very courteous and professional in their workmanship. We appreciated that they were always on time and very good with clean-up so we could sleep in our own beds during the project. Mike, the project manager, stopped by almost every day to make sure the work was progressing on time. He was also very prompt to respond to any questions we had. We are thoroughly enjoying our new bathroom and are asking ourselves why we did not do the project sooner. We would use them again for a similar project.

The company has a good "front man" and make many promises, which is why we went with them. We gave them a maximun amount to spend and of course they went over that amount. Their estimates of granite and sink especially were under anything we could find. Which means the price was more than they quoted. They also promised a schedule of what would happen when, that never appeared and we were never really clear about who was going to show up when. On the positive side, Paul's workmanship is outstanding and the kitchen turned out great and on time! They were quick to come out and fix problems that occurred after the project was completed. I'm not sure I would hire them again.

I emailed Neighborhood Remodelers so they could come out for an estimate. Luke came out and gave me a great idea on the best fit for my basement. I wound up taking his advise and the remodeling started right after the holidays. I'm not going to say I liked the dust, but they did try to keep it to a minimum. Bill and I were always in contact with each other and Art and Casey were very professional on the daily worksite. I was told the remodel would take 4-5 weeks. They were done in 3 1/2 weeks.......amazing! I was very happy will all the work they did.....not only were they efficient, but the quality was fantastic.

Project not started, but we were very impressed by their presentation of their skills and ideas.

A very good friend had his kitchen remodeled by Neighborhood Remodelers, and his kitchen was beautiful. We then decided to use Neighborhood Remodelers for the remodeling of our kitchen. The job was completed within original budget estimates, completed ahead of schedule, and my new kitchen is beautiful. The workers were always on-time, very professional, and courteous. The sales staff and kitchen designer gave us some excellent ideas, and the project manager was very helpful in the expedition of the project. My new kitchen is the envy of the neighborhood. We would definitely use this company for any future remodeling jobs and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is considering a home remodeling project.

We had such a great experience with these people I'm a little embarrassed it's taken me this long to write a review. We bought a house and wanted to have major remodeling work done in the kitchen. They were not the cheapest bid, but Luke clearly understood our vision and helped us understand how it could be done. We worked with his designer on the basic layout, and then Mick and Peter took over the project. They were helpful, organized, clean, thorough, and the craftsmanship in everything Peter and his crew did was exceptional. A few minor things came up that we hadn't anticipated, but they helped us with practical and affordable solutions. The project was completed on time and within budget. In fact, we were so happy with the results we had them start on a project in the bathroom before the kitchen was even finished (replacing a tub with a walk-in shower and reconfiguring two closets to make it fit) and we're delighted with the results of that job as well. We would recommend them highly.

For the most part, we got the results we wanted. They did a really nice job on most of the work but there were a few things that weren't finished. We have a radiator in the bathroom that they didn't take into consideration when they installed the floor. They didn't come up with a good solution with the radiator. They are really nice and I feel like you can trust them, but I wasn’t 100% happy with the result.

The workmanship was awesome. However, I felt the management of the project took longer than expected. The project started in August and did not finish until October. My advice to others would be to not start their project until you have all of your products and materials.

It was excellent. I would recommend them to anyone. They had a project manager who kept up on everything; he visited several times throughout the job.

It is a wonderful business. They were prompt and had good communication. They get the job done quickly and their price was competitive.

Luke and his staff were very easy to work with. The staff started and completed the projects in the planned time frame. They followed the architect's designs, dealt with any problems that arose, and were always willing to answer our questions and make changes, as needed. Their work was precise and exacting. They cleaned up after themselves each day, keeping the dust and disarray to a minimum. We are extremely pleased with the finished project and plan to use their services again.

This was my first major remodel project and the first thing I have to say is Luke, Mike and Walter were fantastic! While there was only a snag or two overall it went so much better then I thought it would. I have heard many people have horror stories about remodeling projects and things going very wrong. With N.R. This project went so smooth, I could not be happier with how the process went and the end result! Walter worked like lightning and knocked it out with perfection and speed! Mike was always there and helpful when I had questions and Jill was a great help with picking out just the right cabinets. I can't say enough about the work Walter did, the tile work is absolutely beautiful! He really takes pride in what he does and it shows. I also came in under budget with the help of mike who was always willing to work with me and the whole team are just fantastic to work with. I would and have recommend N.R to friends and family and when I redo my kitchen they will be the first company I call. Everyone should already do this if you are taking on a large project but I will stress it, do your own homework and research on the appliances or products you want and be realist in what can and cannot be done. Luke was very personable and prompt with appointments and estimates. Karin sent the package of references and copies of licenses immediately after my initial call of inquiry about NR. The work crew showed up on time and worked full days with only a short lunch break. Wojtek the crew lead was the best; he would discuss all the decisions that needed to be made and offer advise but not insist if I wanted something different--nothing was impossible. I was closely involved in making the purchase and design decisions and purchased most of the visible materials (stove, sink, faucet, pendant lights) on the internet and chose the backsplash and flagstone flooring from local retailers. I used a retailer that NR recommended for the dishwasher and was pleased with the purchase. As with all projects you should review the work daily so a minor problem or needed change doesn't become a major alternation later. No problems occurred that weren't resolved. This was my third experience with a major remodeling job and the experience was so much better then previous that I have already referred them to two of my friends and will definitely use them again.

Overall it went really well. They actually finished a few days before estimated. I liked that they gave their phone number so we could get in touch with them whenever!

Neighborhood Remodelers did an outstanding job from start to finish. Everyone we dealt with was professional and communicated effectively. Problems were solved to our complete satisfaction. The workmanship is outstanding. We love our new kitchen. We definitely recommend you use this company!

They are a good value and very responsive and trustworthy. Was a detailed project when it came to the bathroom with steam shower, custom tile work, and they did excellent work. Only minor complaint would be communication could be better but any miscommunication or misunderstandings were corrected quickly. I would use these guys again. In fact we had the sump pump go out about 1 year later and had a bit of a mess and they came out right away and replaced it even taking the pump back to Home Depot under warranty and came on short notice even though this had nothing to do with the work they did. They try really hard to make sure you are happy.

The Neighborhood team was incredibly professional. They contacted me quickly with an estimate, provided different design options, and took time to answer all of my questions at all of the different stages of the process. The project was completed on budget and on schedule. I love my new kitchen! I was pleased with the quality of the work, the professionalism of the team, and the competitive price for the project.

NR did an excellent job, linking us with an excellent architect for design of the addition and associated remodeling and coordinating the work over the months so that we could remain in the house and following up on issues. Remodeling can feel like a big gamble, but NR worked with us throughout the project to make sure everything was done correctly. The house is now not only twice as large, but has gone from a non-descript pseudo-Colonial to a very attractive farmhouse look that has excellent curb appeal and accommodates all our families' needs.

Our experience with Neighborhood Remodelers was excellent! Estimate - Luke was prompt, efficient and very easy to work with. Once he understood our style choices, it was easy for him to point us in the correct direction for materials to purchase. His estimate was spot on an free of hidden nonsense! (We didn't pay for the design fee; that left us the freedom to make our own choices with regard to materials.) Luke was very prompt in responding to questions, even those sent to him via email on Saturdays and Sundays. Demo and Construction - Our two man crew of Jim and Melvin were AMAZING! Their experience and professionalism was beyond our wildest expectations and far more than we could have possibly imagined. The work they did was exceptionally beautiful and thorough. We are thankful to them for all of their hard work and will request that they complete our next project. Project Completion - Jim and Melvin worked with such alacrity that our job was completed early; 8 business days start to finish! The original estimate called for 2 - 3 weeks to complete the job. Overall we were thrilled with Neighborhood Remodelers and will hire them again in the future!

WOW! This is one of the best experience I could have asked for with remolding. We Were remolding our kitchen and powder room along with wood flooring. I joined Aggie's list to research a name and somehow they came up first. From the second Luke came to our house I new this was the company I wanted to deal with. They are as professional as it gets . After receiving a quote the next day which was very reasonable, the wheels started turning. They gave me a date they would start and were there right on time. Everyday was the same. We were fortunate with our crew led by Mike Copper. The workers on site were Kamel, his brother and another man. With remolding things always come up. How they react to me is very important! They could not do enough to make you happy. Everything down to the last detail. This company goes above and beyond to make sure everything is right! And now that the work is done we could not be happier. Also, they make sure everything is clean up very well and do their best to keep things clean during the project. To be quite honest, if they were a couple thousand more than another company on a big project, I would use them just for the peace of mind knowing everything will be taken care when they say it will. I look forward to using their services again when we do our bathroom.

The whole process of getting quotes from contractors to do a variety of projects on our new house has been maddeningly slow. It's as if people don't want your business! Neighborhood Remodelers was the exception, and if it's any indication of their work, I hope we can use them in the future. At this point, we had to go with another contractor based on price. I hope we don't regret it!

Neighborhood Remodelers will come out for a free quote and leave information regarding many references classified by type of work performed; state laws about contractors and insurance information are also provided. I did call several references and all were pleased and offered some good advice, After signing the contract, the entire team will come out to list everything that will be done. There is a budget and we will be notified a week before the work start date. By doing this as a team, we all had the big picture idea of what needed to be done. Luke, the salesman and part owner, kept in contact with me and when we signed he set up appointments for me. Talk about service! He is great! I will say it is important to stay on top of the project and order as much as possible before the work begins. You will want to check everything and make sure all the items are in. During this time, before the work start date, we were able to work with their Interior designer, Jill. She gave us ideas and then Lisa and I went out to order from NR's approved list of vendors. Why use their recommended vendors? They pass the quantity savings onto their customers. THEY TAKE NO MARK UPS. This is wonderful for it is much easier to stay within budget. One concern: make sure you schedule at least a week before you need Jill. I wouldn't want to do this without her. The foreman, Mike was great and the work done on the job was professional and much attention was paid to details. Anything that we felt was not right, Kamil did his best to make it right. No questions asked and attitude was great. Communication was terrific and everyone could be reached by phone or text. We heard back from them within the hour or within the day. So important and a big source of customer confidence. A word about their vendors: the company that installs the glass doors for the showers is awesome. NR knows he does the job right and this is a critical factor: birds of a feather flock together. Get a great contractor and the rest of the workmanship will be highly skilled as well! They did a wonderful job, I highly recommend them. I purchased most of my materials online (approx. $3,200 total) but they did assist me with a few items when I couldn't find a good price and/or reasonable delivery. When we do the upstairs master bathroom, I will probably do most of my purchasing through them. They estimated four weeks but the job was done in a little over two weeks. They were punctual and professional and cleaned up after the end of each day. The same guys showed up, which I appreciated. We discovered the shower door was scratched up so they contacted the manufacturer for an exchange on my behalf, even though I purchased it on my own. Communication was never a problem. I liked that I could text, email or call the guys working on site, project manager or even owner. My messages were always returned promptly.
