We love the service Neighborhood Remodelers gave. There were no complaints with clean up or the work. It did take longer to finish the job, but it was during a holiday season and delayed decision making, so no one was really at fault. They were amazing. I would use them again in the future.

This was our second consecutive bathroom gut job in as many months with NR. We had the same sub working at our house. It was Sebastian, his partner and Mick. Luke again, was very helpful with the process and Sebastian again was very good, professional and very accommodating. I wont bore you with details like in my first review, a few pictures are worth a thousand words! Please check out the pics I uploaded, and judge for yourself. There were probs and issues along the way like any other project but they were always taken care of, even if they weren't even related to the project itself. Keep in mind quality takes time, and projects will always take a little longer than estimated. Also, you being the homeowner become the ultimate project manager. You are responsible for doing your due diligence about the materials, placement of fixtures, ordering and receiving , payments and results. You cant assume anything if you want to be completely sure you have things the way YOU want them. Speak up, voice your opinions, ask alot of questions, and let them do the rest! Once again, awesome job!

Neighborhood remodelers remodeled our kitchen and turned a laundry closet off of our family room into a bar. We had been thinking about remodeling our kitchen since we moved into our house more than 2 years ago, so my husband and I thought we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. Luckily for us, Jill worked with us on the design and it turned out so, so much better than what we had envisioned! Mike and Kamil were always responsive to our questions and concerns. The crew worked diligently to finish the project before Christmas, which was amazing! And they were always polite and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day, which was a huge plus for me living through a major remodel with 2 small kids! We were very happy with our experience and plan on using them again when it comes time to remodel our bathrooms!!

Overall very happy with finished product. Took longer (about double the estimate) and had numerous issues but they lived up to their promise to make things right but forgot various things in the bid so had added costs. Mostly good subs but as always needed to watch everything daily and speak up when things were not right.

Neighborhood Remodelers did a fantastic job from the start of discussions till the last day of the remodel. They listened & saw our vision of what we wanted for our kitchen remodel and executed the plan giving us a remarkable remodel. What started out as a kitchen remodel & installing/refinishing hardwood floors throughout the 1st floor led to painting the family room & remodeling the kitchen powder room. The rooms now seem like they've always belonged in the house Everyone associated to the project were very professional, knowledgeable, timely and honest. Luke worked with us upfront ensuring we would get what we expected. Jill did an amazing job designing our dream kitchen and providing us her expertise in even the smallest details (ie cabinet pull sizes, tile, paint color). Mike handled all of our requests very quickly, Damian was very professional & detail orientated and Robert was always on time & worked 6 days a week making sure the entire project was done right and on time.

Working with Neighborhood Remodelers was a great experience. We own an older home and have worked with many different companies over the years and none can compare to Neighborhood Remoldelers. Their price was fair ( the lowest of all the quotes we obtained) and their estimate was detailed and organized. Wesley and Derrick worked on our project. They were very professional and knowledgeable. It was obvious that they took pride in their work. The Project Manager, Mike, was always available for questions or updates on the project. The project was even finished ahead of schedule. We could not be happier with the final product.

After receiving 4 other quotes over a 3 month period, I decided to go with Neighborhood Remodelers. NR was actually the first company I called. I called Luke back because he was very personable and made me feel confident and comfortable, and assured me the job would be done perfect. And it was! Some of the other companies were pushy and left me feeling like they didn't care if they got the job or not. A few made me feel as if my project was too small or that my house was not good enough. One company gave me the impression that they only do remodels of houses that he compared to as "mercedes" and my house was like a "ford", and they would be too expensive for me! I never even received a courtesy quote. That was my deciding factor to call NR. This was my first experience hiring anyone to do a remodel, and I didn't really know what to expect. Luke Rosseland met with us and went over every detail of the remodeling process. Luke then arranged for us to meet with his "TEAM" . This included himself, the Project Forman Damian, and the Project Manager Mick. Again, Luke walked us through every step of the remodel, explaining the process, as well as the length of the job. About 10 days. The following Wednesday was the start of the job. The Project Forman Damian, told me Robert would be working from 8-5 each day and would arrive at 8 am on Wednesday, I arrived at about 11:30am. The bathroom was already half way through the demolition! By Saturday the new tub was in, the plumbing re-plumbed (this is a 1920 bungalow) new electric wiring done for the wall lighting, and Robert was installing the drywall! I was so impressed things were moving so fast. Damien met with me almost every other day to review the progress. If I had a question, I would text Damian or call him and I would hear right back from him. I checked on the process every other day to see how how things were going. When I arrived I would say hello to Robert and he always had a smile on his face to see me. He was very polite and kind, and would answer any questions I had, and continued working. He never skipped a beat! I believe he worked 9 straight days without a day off to complete my bathroom. Robert was one of the hardest workers I have ever met! Thank you, Robert! During each step of the process, Robert would remove all the debris, and clean the area for the next step. My bathroom re-model went like clockwork. from the beginning to end. No-non sense, no sitting around chatting with the owner either! No supervision was needed. They did exactly what they promised. They are honest, professional and courteous. I absolutely had NO stress, other than what color tile and fixtures I had to pick out! And once I did that, all I had to do was call Mick. Mick picked it up and delivered it to the house. Luke's team exceeded my expectations from the beginning to the end. The quality of NR's work is outstanding! I couldn't have asked for better customer service either. Even through the stages of payments the girls in the office (Samantha and Kerin) were so easy to work with. Thank you girls! The bathroom looks so great that now I am anxious to remodel my kitchen! I will definitely hire Neighborhood Remodelers again. I only hope they can fit me in when I am ready. Luke, and his staff are gems! A 5 diamond rating from me! Thank you so much, NR!

Our project turned out great and we couldn't be happier with our kitchen! We had interviewed Normandy, DesignFirst, Forest Glen and Neighborhood and chose to go with NR because we felt we getting the best value for a fair cost. We didn't have time to be entirely hands on so it was important to have design capabilities and Jill and her team were outstanding. The NR team included Luke (sales/estimating), Jill (floor plan / cabinet design), Abbey (decorating/material selection), Mike (project manager), Damian (foreman) and Robert (lead worker). Everyone was pleasant, responsive and easy to work with. The quality of the construction was top notch and the workers paid close attention to detail. Everyone from Mike to Robert was on the same page to get the job done as soon as possible and our incentives were aligned. I would highly recommend NR. Issues come up and they did, but the key is having a firm take ownership and provide solutions to those problems. We look forward to using NR in the future!

Extremely professional group of people. At every point during the remodel, I felt completely confident that I would be happy with the end product, and I am. Back in September, Luke came out to give me a quote. When I decided on his group, he brought a team of people out to meet me and do measurements in October. By November, I had met with the kitchen designer (who designed an awesome kitchen for me) and ordered cabinets. Everything was ready to go when they started on January 6, and it was to be an eight-week project. The guys who came in to do the work every day were always here when they said they would be, worked incredibly hard while they were here, and did meticulous, careful work. This is the second big project I have ever had done, and the first was in another house, in another state, and it was a nightmare. Not this time. Neighborhood Remodelers were very clear about the price going in, there were no surprises along the way because they were very communicative. The work itself was very professional, and the people doing it were polite, thoughtful, and professional. And fast! They completed a gut of the old kitchen, plus the install of wood flooring and tile flooring throughout the first floor, in 6.5 weeks, 1.5 weeks ahead of schedule. Yes, I will use NR again, and I will be singing their praises to anyone I know doing remodeling.

My project was a gut rehab of my bathroom and it took about 3 weeks. Everything went very smoothly from obtaining the estimate through the completion of the project. Luke provided my estimate, Mick was my project manager, and Arthur, Marek, and Tony did the work on the bathroom. Everyone was a pleasure to work with. They were punctual, reliable, hard-working, and skilled, not to mention really nice guys. I would definitely work with them again.

Punctual, professional and courteous. Luke was prompt and delivered the estimate in a timely manner. Their team came out, introduced themselves and we were immediately given a list of "Go-to" people. Always felt comfortable having their workers in our home and they came and left 5 days a week with little to no disruption to our family dynamic. I cannot speak highly enough about Marek (Doc Evil) and his crew. So easy to work with especially with changes in design right down to the minor details. The whole team, including Bill, who over saw the project were very responsive to our every question/ request. They turned a stressful event into a great experience. I will definitely contact them again in the future.

We had 3 estimates with Angie's list contractors and one non Angie's list contractor. From Neighborhood Remodelers, Luke the owner / estimator made us feel comfortable with the process he described and the price was reasonable. First major impression was when he came with a team of five people, did introductions with our future project manger, designer, and contractors. The time frame given for this job was three months, but was mostly done in two months. During this project our family of four, with two small kids lived in the basement and bedrooms, so having it done quickly was a major plus. All the workers on the scene were extremely courteous to our family and we felt comfortable with them entering and exiting. There were workers on scene six days a week and prior to leaving each day they would clean up the area (this was a huge impression made on us and did not create hazards if we chose to walk around and check out the progress). The workers on the scene all communicated well with one another and would help one another out if necessary. For example, the plumber would verify work with the carpenter who would double check with the electrician. We had a cabinet that was delivered damaged, and the designer had called the cabinet company and another one was shipped immediately and nothing was delayed. It was a relief to have a project manager that had a good working relationship with village inspectors, counter top installers, window installers, shower glass installers, fireplace installers and all the trades personnel that worked on the project. Our project manager, Mike, was a phone call away if we had a question, but was mostly not necessary because he came by frequently to check on the progress and see how we were doing. When it came to billing, email statements and updates on our allowances made tracking extremely efficient. The office staff was an email away with any questions, and answered promptly. The finished project is better than we expected and we will have decades of enjoyment. We thank the staff at Neighborhood Remodelers. Mike and Nickie C

NR basically reworked the flow of our first floor. We had an odd layout in our new house that really limited our ability to use the space in the way that best suited us. Luke (owner), Bill (project manager), and Kamil (lead contractor) worked with us on a design to turn one long odd room into 2 separate and very useful spaces: a mudroom and an office/sitting room. We also had a bottleneck where our front door, garage access, and stairs came together. NR moved the garage access so that you enter the house directly into the mudroom. Brilliant! The mudroom is amazing. And worth every penny, especially after the insanely messy and snowy winter we've had. We worked with Jill (cabinet designer), who gave us several options for laying out the cabinets to best make use of the space. With her input, we ended up with a storage bench with drawers, upper cabinets, and hooks; a hanging bar; and a huge open cabinet that we use as a pantry. And its all closed off with a pocket door. It is perfect! They also removed the existing coat closet and replaced our old double wide door with a gorgeous new door with sidelites. It opens the house up and adds such beautiful light. It's like a new house! During that part of the project, Bill and Kamil discovered that we would need to reinforce a header. Bill called out an architect or engineer to evaluate how extensive the repair would have to be. He gave me several well-prepared options and priced each one out, which allowed us to make an informed choice about the repair. Kamil and Lukas also beautifully updated the decor, which was stuck in the '80s. Bill called in a flooring sub to refinish all of the wood floors and add wood where where there was carpet. They also removed the carpet from the stairs and refinished the stairs and banister to match the new darker floor stain throughout. Kamil and Lukas installed new tile and a new vanity in our powder room. New paint, including baseboards and door casings, in every room. Installed recessed lighting in several rooms. Everyone was also extremely professional and easy to work with. They weren't the cheapest bid we got, but we feel we got our money's worth. We found that having a dedicated project manager like Bill was an added value and worth the additional cost. This was our first major remodel and we didn't know what to expect. It was very helpful having someone to coordinate the timing of each part of the project, provide me with progress updates, and field my comments if something wasn't as I expected it to be. Bill was very responsive and accessible by phone and email, which was very helpful for me. The project lasted about 6 weeks in earnest, which is a long time, but not unreasonable considering how much work they did. I am very pleased with the work. I feel like it's finally *our* home. I am also very pleased with NR as an organization and would not hesitate to hire them again.

We had previously used this co. in our other hm. After recently moving to a new larger home we were in need of repairs and a new wet bar installed. We contacted the co. and Luke once again came out for the estimate. We were able to schedule within a week or two and the work began. All of the work was done in a timely fashion w/professional staff. They were careful in the home, putting down drop cloths everywhere so as not to damage the slate and hardwood flooring (because of the massive amounts of snow that kept appearing). They arrived on time and were very friendly. They cleaned up after themselves each day and did a great job. They encountered some slight problems with the placement of the wet bar cabinets but were able to come up with solutions. All in all the work was completely in about 3 1/2 wks or so and we are very pleased with the outcome. We would hire this co. again in a minute. The office and staff of contractors are very professional and it is a pleasure doing business with them. .

Sam returned my call promptly and very nicely let me know their company no longer serviced my area. This information was not initially noted in Anglie's List but when I checked it again it now shows a comment that they don't service my area. I thanked Sam for calling back to let me know. Sadly I can't hire them to do the work but I was impressed with their quick response and consideration in taking the time to call me back even though they knew they would not be taking the job.

The electrician went out of town on a long trip prior to completing the installation. NR completed the installation but had to get up to speed on the work done and the work the electrician and I had discussed. The quality of work done by the tile setter was not ideal and some had to be redone, including having to replace one of the drains. However, in each case, NR stepped up and work with me to address issues. In all, I am very pleased with the work done. In hindsight, I could have improved the overall experience if I had provided detailed drawings to NR prior to beginning the project. I have learned over the years that no project is without issues. It is how those issues are handled that make or break a project. They worked with me on all issues that arose, including finding water in the crawl space and having to modify plans due to unexpected issues in walls, ceilings, etc. The finished project is beautiful.
Description of Work: Remodeled master bedroom suite including his/hers baths. I tend to do my own design work. Often I can work with contractors just based on describing what I want. This was a more complex project and I should have had detailed drawings, including detailed drawings of the bathroom tile layout, closet door layouts, etc.

Like many of you, I went to Angie's list because we had no where else to turn to. We've worked with 3 different contractors/subcontractors and have had bad experiences with each at one point or another. We've spent, more like, wasted thousands of dollars on projects that were either done wrong or just done poorly or a combination of both. Embarrassingly, this is the 3rd time we've remodeled this bathroom in 10 years, and it was never up to par with the worse job being last year. Yes, that is correct, in just 1 year I have had to do a complete tear down of the tub enclosure and decided to do whatever I could to insure that this would be the last remodel of this bathroom I would need for a long time. We decided that we would redo the whole bathroom, instead of fixing parts of it. If you ever had a contractor make you feel; ripped off, cheated, less than satisfied, taken advantage of, angry, or told that you were wrong, told that delays are your fault when they were not, told you they were coming but didn't show up, told you obvious mistakes were actually right, given you a hard time for making changes during the job, and doing things without consulting you first, and just wanted them to leave not because they were done, but you had it with them. You know exactly where we are coming from. I had a year to think about how to do this right. I planned every detail from the tile placement, fixtures, materials, time schedule, paint color, and most everything I could think of to the smallest detail . Wrote them down, and made a list of questions in a remodeling journal. When this was done I signed up with angie's list and sought out to get at least 6 different quotes from all top rated contractors in my area (NW side of chicago Norwood Park) and called them all. I ended up calling 10 contractors. 5 out of 10 came out and gave me a quote. The 5 were all top rated search wise for the NW side on Angielist and 2 were from the Park Ridge area including Neighborhood Remodelers. I did not like the other one at all and felt like I could not work with them. In the end I went with Neighborhood and glad I did. Initially I met with Luke, he will go through the estimate with you, and hand you a folder containing information including references, licenses, suppliers, and other general company info. He is friendly, professional and enthusiastically confident about Neighborhood Remodelers (NR) being able to do your job satisfactorily and in my case, have no repeats of the terrible work that was done in my home. Luke will listen to you, make notes, and give you idea whenever possible. What he wont tell you is "no" or "we can't" or bash other contractors. I kept in mind this is an estimate but also a sales presentation to a certain extent, and you too, might have that feeling as well. Thats fine considering other estimates I felt that they don't even want to talk too long or listen to you, and they just want to give you an estimate and thats it. Truthfully, NR was my favorite from the very beginning. I had other estimates too, some higher some lower. They all fell within a 1000 to 1500 from each other, so I knew NR estimate was right on track. After accepting the bid, you will be scheduled with a team that will ultimately work at your house, and a walk through with that team. What I like about NR is the hierarchy. You are assigned a project manager and an onsite contractor. The project manager, Mick, will take care of ordering materials, pickup of materials, cabinets, etc etc and will consult the contractor onsite if needed. He is extremely pleasant to work with and will stop in from time to time to check on the project progress. Not working with NR before, I felt like I could complain up the command chain if I was not happy with something, want to change something, or ask about anything. In my case, I didn't need to do that. I was extremely happy with Sebastian (the onsite contractor) and I never had an issue with him, his partner, or their work. If I had issues I discussed it with Sebastian directly and he took care of it. I never ever felt uncomfortable in dealing with him and he was nice enough to allow me to contact him even after hours if an issue arose after he left. He was easy to get a hold of even if I was at work through calls, text or emails. Occasionally, I would contact Luke for general project questions and/or advice and he always made every effort to get back to me asap. Coming off of bad remodel jobs, I was extremely skeptical and I inspected the work daily. I would voice my concerns immediately, but in a polite way and I was assured it will be taken care of. As the job progressed I was more and more convinced that I made the right choice and in the end the bathroom was done the way I always wanted. The work was done well and as close to perfect as you can get. It took around 12 business days to complete. Needlessly to say, me and my wife were extremely happy with the finished product so much so we had them come back within a couple weeks of completing one bathroom to getting another estimate for complete gut of another bathroom. With that said the next project proved to be even more work, more challenging, and in the end turning out just as perfect as the first project! That review will be posted soon. In short, I would recommend NR and Team Sebastian to anyone, you really can't go wrong. With that said you still need a plan, a budget, and do your homework. This is a huge investment, take your time and plan every detail, after that let NR do the rest!

My initial contact with Neighborhood Remodelers through Angie's List was Aug 20, 2013. Luke (owner) visited and provided a proposal on Aug 28. The estimated time frame for the project was 2 weeks. The pre-construction walk through with Luke, the general contractor (Danny), project manager (Mike), and designer (Abbey) was on Sep 10. Abbie and I met several times to choose, order and purchase tile, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, etc. (Abbey was great throughout the entire project -- pushing me beyond the "blah" into areas I would not have gone on my own and being supportive during my times of frustration.) The receipt of the custom-built cabinets determined the start date of the remodeling project -- Nov 4. The project was mostly completed on Nov 29 ( 4 weeks) by a different general contractor (Marek) with repairs (6 valve cartridges on faucets needed replacement) and delivery of missing parts completed by Dec 11 ( 5.5 weeks). If I were to redo this project I would be a bit less trusting and require more accountability of the project from Day 1. I would request a written workplan with an estimated timeline of major milestones (expected date of counter measurement, expected date of counter installation, expected date of shower glass measurement, expected date of glass installation, etc.). I would meet on Day 1 with the project manager and the general contractor to discuss the plan and the work priorities to ensure the other contractors can arrive and complete their portions of the project in a timely fashion. The written plan would also provide me with some kind of leverage to ensure the project is moving forward in a timely fashion. Without this document I was unable to move the project forward. I also was unable to get original general contractor and project manager to actually listen to my concerns. (It is always stressful to have your home and your personal schedule controlled by contractors. To be provided a 2-week estimate but see no end in sight near the end of 3 weeks was especially frustrating.) After I took drastic action, Luke stepped in and provided satisfactory resolutions to get the project's major work finished as quickly as possible. The bathroom does look nice. I have some finishing tasks to complete (mirror framing and hanging, trim painting) but overall I'm happy with the new bathroom.

They did a great job. The crew showed up on time each day and got the work done on schedule. I liked that they were very professional and friendly throughout the experience. They were accommodating to any adjustments I wanted. They assisted with the layout and applied my ideas of what I wanted to the plans. It took the crew about 9 weeks to complete the work. We were very satisfied with their work. I spoke with a couple of different contractors, and I chose them because I liked the personnel they sent out during the initial consultation.
Description of Work: They finished our basement. They added 1,400-1,500 square feet of bedroom, play area, bathroom, tv room and closets.

We thought they did a good job but the problem was when they redid the bathroom, we found out afterwards that they didn't put the insulation back in so we had to redo it. We found that out when we had put a new roof on. They've always had good reviews and we thought it was great when they were doing it but I would hesitate to go back to them and I didn't even get an estimate from them when I did the kitchen. I was a little disappointed with that.

Neighborhood Remodelers saved my kitchen! We had been working with another contractor who decided to walk out on our job at about 80% completion. In a panic I called every contractor I knew with a good reputation as well as some of the more well reviewed on Angie's List. I ended up taking bids from 3 companies, NR being one of them. I spoke with Luke, one of the owners, and he came out to my house for a quote right away. He was so nice and could tell that I was angry and freaked out about sitting with an unfinished kitchen and nowhere to turn. I had been told by quite a few contractors that their guys didn't want to do this job because no one wants to finish someone else's work. Luke was slightly hesitant about this, but said he would do it none-the-less. He went through all the work that needed to be done and assured me that he had a guy that could finish the job to perfection. Price-wise NR fell right about the same or maybe a spec higher than the other bids but I could tell they were very professional and that they were really going to take this project out of my hands and get the job done right. In the end their price was pretty fair. 1 week later Bill (the project manager) and Marek (the man who did all the work) came to my house to take a look at the job and make sure the estimate was accurate. We all agreed that there was a little bit more to be done than we originally thought, so the price increased by $200. We both agreed to this number and nothing changed price-wise after this. Marek was such a nice guy and such a hard worker. He is very skilled and I had no question that he would be the guy to finish the job. He took 3 days to finish what had been a very very long kitchen renovation for us. He said he would come back to fix anything should I notice anything wrong. I was emailed by the company 2 days later to check to make sure that I was happy with the completion of the job and to have me send the remaining amount I owed. I just received a letter from them in the mail with confirmation that they received payment and also including a 1 yr warranty on their work. I would work with them again on any home project and am so glad they decided bid on this annoying and relatively small job.
