We decided to put this project on hold but were impressed with the professionalism of the team and the portfolio of projects. Plan to use in the future.
Description of Work: Came to site to provide estimate for bathroom renovation, provided line by line estimate and revised estimate timely based on additional requests.
We were very pleased with all the work that was done. Luke, the project salesman, came to our house in mid-March to evaluate what we wanted to be done, and he emailed us a detailed proposal that same day. He said that they'd be able to start the project in May, and estimated the work would take 2 weeks. He also left a binder of information including licenses, insurance, suggested stores to buy materials from, and lots of references. The quoted price was very competitive, and we accepted. A couple weeks later, the team that we'd be working with came to our house to review the project: Luke, project manager Bill, and project foreman Mario. We then bought most of the materials ourselves from 2 of their recommended stores, and those stores were very helpful and gave us nice Neighborhood Remodelers discounts. The project started in late May. Mario and his assistant Adrian arrived at 8:00 each morning, and usually worked until late afternoon. They were very nice, and their work was terrific. They even did a couple of other things for us, including installing an exhaust fan in another bathroom, and installing a new railing. The project was completed on time in the promised 2 weeks, on budget, and with little disruption to our lives. And they didn't leave a big mess for us to clean up. The bathroom looks fantastic, and everything is functioning well. We have nothing but positive things to say about Neighborhood Remodelers, and we'd definitely use them again for any future remodeling projects.
Description of Work: Completely remodeled our guest bathroom, including installing a new bathtub, wall and floor tile, vanity, toilet, plumbing, lighting, exhaust fan, and painting.
The project started March 11 and finished on April 24. They finish before the time they had promised. They were easy to work with. Were they perfect? No. But I had no expectations that it would be. Would I work with them again? Definitely. The project didn't go as I imagined as I watch way too many home renovation shows, so I went into this project expecting what I see on TV. One thing I learned is that you have to be on top of the project at all times. So that was hard for me. Example: one of the change orders called for new trim on door and window of the bathroom. Since we were installing a new door I wanted trim of window to match the one for the door. As I went to check on the bathroom I saw he was painting existing trim instead of installing a new one. I brought to his attention and it was fixed with no issues. This was just a small example. I would have rather someone to check on the work as well. So I don?t look like the complainer all the time. Things I was not happy with: The tiles were grouted but not cleaned until after a week and that bothered me because I spent a lot of money on those marble tiles. And i didn't want them to have dry grout on them for too long in fear it would not come out. I was told that it was going to be cleaned and that they had to wait for the inside grout to dry so that it could be cleaned and sealed. Yet on the last day of the project, it was a rush to finish grout on areas that were missing grout, cleaned and sealed on the same day. So I guess that day, it was not required for the grout to dry? I still have cracked grout lines which I was told it is normal until things settle. There was a tile on the shower that was not cut well and that cause the grout line to be 3 X bigger then the rest, something you cannot miss if you look at the shower. Kind of ugly, but I try not to look at it. The electrician surprised me a couple of times, but not in a good way. I work from home so i asked him to let me know if he would need to shut the power off, so i could shut down my computer. Well, he didn?t and i lost work and my computer was shutdown abruptly. He also managed to turn off the switch on the electric panel to my hot tub so it was not running for a couple of days, when i asked him, he said it was probably an accident and that the hot tub just needs to be on during winter time anyway. Well, if you own a hot tub it has to be on at all times because it has a filtering system that runs every few hours. Enough of complaining. As the plumbing, both of my bathroom sinks had a slow leak and the plumber had to come a couple of times to remedy. Mike always would send him back to fix the issue, there was never a long wait. During the project there were 3 change orders, 2 were because i pulled a permit for the work so the city wanted these things fixed and the other was because i decided to install a new door. Never, did I feel they over charged me on these change orders. Very reasonable. They have a list of vendors you can purchase materials from and get a discount. You can go shopping and they will pick up the materials for you, so that was a huge convenience. I had a few things that i order online or even from the regular store like Home Depot and Lowes. And I would give them the information and they would pick up for me. The bathroom looks amazing and it is my favorite room of the house. Hopefully i can figure it out how to upload some pictures. I can?t wait to do the same on another bathroom. Mike and Art were great people to work with, very professional. The plumber was good too. They worked from early in the morning until late afternoon and got all the plumbing done in one day so Art could start on the bathroom remodel the next day. The entire project was about $26K, but that is because i picked some expensive tiles and installed a beautiful custom shower door. The approximate cost of service included the work they did and things like drywall. You can see picture here: https://www.pinterest.com/celpower/bathroom-renovation/ I got 3 quotes for this remodel and Neighborhood Remodelers came out with the better price, better time available for my renovation, GREAT reviews on Angie?s List, so it was a no brainer for me.
Description of Work: They removed old tub/shower combination, sink and cabinets, toilets, everything from the bathroom. The shower area had drywall removed and new moisture resistant drywall installed. A new shower tile from floor to ceiling was built in place of the tub. We put in a custom glass shower door, which is not included on the approximate cost of service, new plumbing was installed from single sink to become a two sink as well as more plumbing done in the shower to accommodate new shower fixtures.

We had a lot of work that needed to be done, such as take down a wall to open up the kitchen/dining room, update all the bathrooms, the whole works. The job was done well. Luke the salesman was very helpful and energetic when coming to see the house for the quote. Mike the project manager was very responsive and answered all my qeustions. Abbey the designer was very helpful and patient with us as we picked out thing and we had no clue at all. I was more of the hands on type of person and would research things online ahead of time so that I know what to expect and I was particular picky but they handled it well. There were a couple of incidents where the workers didn't respect our property that they but was quickly taken care of by Mike once he was informed. Overall we were happy with the work they did and would recommend them to anyone.

From the get go, I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism of Neighborood Remodelers. From the first meeting with Luke, to every contact with the office staff, to working directly with Bill (my project manager) and his team (Wesley and Derek); I came to expect consistent communication, punctuality, quality work, and honesty. The initial estimate was very close to the final price and Bill clearly communicated when the project or the fixures I chose deviated from that. The guys were incredibly careful when mvoing through the house, doing the most thorough floor and stair papering job I'd ever seen. A friend of mine who is a painter was amazed at their cleanliness and the way in which they took care of the space! Additionally, the bathroom itself is gorgeous, and better than I could have hoped. The work is incredibly high quality, and the labor warranty Neighborhood Remodelers offers reassures me that if anything were to pop up, they'd guarantee their work. This was my first major renovation project, and while there were typical delays in ordering parts and small frustrations, I experienced none of the hair-greying issues friends and family described, and I attribute the smooth process largely to Neghborhood Remodelers--especially Bill.
Description of Work: Complete master bathroom remodel, with installation of new fixtures, tiling, granite, and custom cabinets.
Neighborhood Remodelers did a spectacular job renovating our master bathroom. From our initial call to the end of the project, NR was professional, detail-oriented and easy to work with. We obtained the usual 3-4 estimates and NR came in at a competitive price point compared to our other bids ($15,000 for labor only). Ultimately, we selected them because of price and their ability to provide the total service package that we were looking for. They dealt with our village's permit requirements, provided a designer, assigned a project manager to keep things moving, and provided the services for items that we didn't want to search for on our own (cabinets, glass shower enclosure, and countertops). And they are uber-friendly. Everyone we communicated with and worked directly with at NR have been really nice, which is equally as important as the above mentioned items. The details make the review, so here goes: Luke came out to complete the estimate. Upon arrival, I made him aware that my 1 year old son was napping in a nearby room. He entered and spoke quietly so as to not wake up my son. Not every service provider has the cognizance to do this. In another situation, on a Sunday, we were supposed to meet Abbey, the designer at the office to go over cabinetry selection. She fell ill unexpectedly, was unable to reach us, so Luke showed up (roughly 10-15 minutes later, not a big deal at all) and attempted to walk us through the available choices. He contacted Jill, another NR designer to ask a question, and she elected to come to the office and provide her expertise. Luke stayed the entire time we were there even after Jill showed up; and Jill gave us good, sound advice after learning our preferences. Abbey was our designer. We utilized her to the extent of having a professional point of view on the design layout we had in mind and helping finalize our choices. We were keeping the same footprint and already had a design in mind (colors, tile choices, etc), so Abbey put together a 3D rendering of our look. She was (and is) a good sounding board, providing thorough advice and food for thought. She came by regularly while we finalized our tile and paint selection, took me to view our countertop selection, and helped me comb through websites looking for a bathroom mirror. She even searched for a company who could miter tile to a 45 degree angle so we could have clean edges for the tub surround. She was readily available and didn't mind communicating in the evening after my kids were asleep. Personally, I think she went above and beyond what we had contracted with her. While we didn't use the extent of her expertise, I wouldn't hesitate to utilize her to design a room from scratch if needed. Bill was our project manager. He was the first person to arrive at the start of our project and the last to leave at the end of the project. He checked in with me regularly to make sure everything was going smoothly. Our project ran smoothly until the very end when a glass tile cracked during the shower door installation and the countertop didn't fit properly (all on the same day) and had a chip in it. We spoke immediately about the situation, he hung up the phone with me to figure out a solution and called me back almost immediately to inform me of the action plan. Within 48 hours, the glass tile was being replaced and the counter was being remeasured for a new top. He communicated very well via phone, text and email. He explained what was going to happen and when and provided a timeline as things were being completed. Wesley (foreman) and Derrick were our guys completing the carpentry. If we ever do another remodel, I would request them. They were always on time. If they told me 7:30am, they were there on time, if not a little early. They made every attempt to keep things tidy and picked up at the end of each work day. Though we had determined our tile design, their spacing calculations (based on our tile choice of both 3x9 glass and 12x24 porcelain tile) cemented the final look and made it look uniform and sleek. Their carpentry was spot on - the tub fit like a glove and they made two built-in niches when the niche forms could not be used. They moved swiftly but carefully and were mindful of details. They always asked me questions when needed and were very pleasant to work with. The other subcontractors were really good in their craft as well, though we didn't interact with them as much since they were only around a day or two. Sam and Kerin in the office were also great to work with. They were efficient and professional in their communication. Overall, our project took 8 weeks to complete. It probably would have taken 6 weeks were it not for the countertop issue and having to re-fabricate a new one. We highly recommend Neighborhood Remodelers and could not be more pleased with the work they did and the final result.

It would be impossible to do any remodeling without running into some glitches. (The shower drain in the upstairs unit was leaking into our master bathroom and that had to be inspected by the building and fixed by the other owners before we could proceed.. We couldn't take part of a wall down because telephone wires were located in the area. The large mirror in the master bathroom had to be cut down because we expanded the shower. The drain in the new tub in the master bathroom wouldn't work correctly...and some other stuff along those same kind of lines.) But no matter what the issue or the problem, the project foreman (Mick) and the carpenters/tile guys/jacks-of-all trades (Artur and Marek) were cheerful, patient, and respectful. The Neighborhood Remodelers office staff (Kerin and Samantha) was also friendly and helpful. Their project estimates were reasonable and very close to actual costs (except for the granite in the kitchen which we knew we were way over budget on.) If we have any suggestion it would to improve the way in which they structure their bills, which we found very confusing -- but usually accurate. Ultimately they were able to reformat the bills so we were able to match up changes, credits, and progress payments. And again, they were very patient with questions and frustrations. Overall, we were very pleased with the communication, the professionalism, the competency, and the price! You can?t ask for more than that.
Description of Work: We purchased a 20-year old condominium which was in great need of refurbishing. Neighborhood Remodelers designed a new kitchen lay out (Jill) that turned a U-shaped work area into an L with an island. They installed new cabinets for the island, and tiled the backsplash wall. They supervised the purchase and fabrication of new granite counters. They installed new light fixtures, and all the new appliances. The condo had a walled-off eating area; they removed the wall, and reconfigured/and replaced lighting in both that area and in the kitchen. The hardwood floors in the living room, dining area, kitchen, and a "den" were replaced, refinished, and expanded by their subcontractor. (Beautiful by the way.). A large master bathroom and a smaller guest bathroom were entirely redone, except for the cabinets, which were painted. (See Dynamic Colors review) The cabinets were raised to the level of the existing mirrors, all floor and shower tile was replaced, and new glass doors/sides were installed in both showers. An older Jacuzzi was removed from the master bathroom and it was replaced with a modern, free standing tub. New granite countertops and shower benches, and new hardware was installed. Both bathrooms got new light fixtures, additional can lighting, and new exhaust fans. We also extended the air conditioning into the master bathroom where there previously was no vent.

Overall the experience with NR was great. Luke has come out to the house several times to give us free estimates on various rehab ideas we've had and he's a really nice guy. Very down to earth. Their estimates are very thorough as well, detailing each item so you can make your own call on what things you want to do yourself to save money and what stuff you want the pros to do. The roof looks great and our leaky issues are gone. The crew did a great job with communication, and cleaned up very well. My only critique would be a more thorough inspection during the estimate phase. It was not discovered until after the crew was already tearing the roof off that our house did not have any underlayment (it's 105yrs old). The estimate went up by 40% in a heartbeat but obviously it needed to be done. I just would have liked to not be surprised by that but I'm a new homeowner so I'm not sure if that's unrealistic ;)

This was not our first rodeo in remodeling -- in the course of ten years, we have gutted and rehabbed many spaces (sometimes not by choice). We were fortunate not to have too many horror stories in construction, but we weren't always left with the feeling that we made the best choice. I am pleased to say that we have absolutely no doubt that Neighborhood Remodelers was the perfect choice for this job. The whole project moved quickly from start to finish, despite a few hiccups (as should always be expected in any remodeling project). Luke was friendly and prompt with our initial bids, Bill was an amazing lead for the overall project. He was patient and responsive. More importantly, with myself (a woman) as the primary point person, I never felt talked down to by any of the crew nor were my suggestions belittled. I loved working with Jill the designer -- she designed a layout for the bedroom that was faced with the challenges of severely sloping walls and no closet storage for two preteen girls. Now the room functions like a dream. We also had issues with heating and cooling -- the room is located above a garage -- and Bill, Marek (the site leader) and Luke came up with a fantastic way to fix the poor heat flow with a simple, inexpensive solution. I loved how the crew would problem solve in a cost efficient manner. My few complaints are very minor -- (1) we did receive bids for the project that were cheaper, but Neighborhood Remodelers was worth the extra money (2) occasionally the guys would say they'd be at the house by 8 to start working...then arrive around 10. This wouldn't bother me except I had to get 3 kids up early and ready so they wouldn't be in the way, and it was a little frustrating to realize they didn't need to rush and (3) we added on extra work at the end and I felt a little of the attention to detail slipped, but very minor. And I will also admit to being very much a perfectionist with regard to small details, so I certainly didn't want to nitpick about an otherwise stellar job.
Description of Work: We gutted our daughters' bedroom - updated electrical, insulation, new floors, drywall and new design to room. We also added on electrical work in another bedroom and refinished/added wood floors to the hallway.
I contacted Neighborhood Remodelers and spoke with Luke. I advised him that I wanted to finish my basement and Luke came out the next day to look things over and start working on a quote. I told Luke what I was looking for, like a wet bar and a possible fireplace, Luke went over a bunch of different options with me and gave me some great ideas for the basement. I then got a quote from him two days later ( He came on a Friday so I wouldnt expect a quote on Saturday). Within two weeks a team of people including Bill the site manager and the primary carpenter Robert came over and went over plans with me and details of the construction and began. Every step of the way I was kept informed of what was going on by Bill and Robert. I honestly felt like the guys working on the basement were working on their own basement. Robert, the main carpenter would get here early and leave late. The construction that was supposed to take 6 weeks took only 4 weeks. We now have a beautiful basement that we use for company and relaxation and greatly expanded our living space. Cant say enough good things about Neighborhood Remodelers. An overview of the work performed, added a wet bar with a butcher block bar top and slats down the front of the bar to give it the wooden bar look, the bar was stained to match the laminate floor, added two large closets, 13 can lights with dimmer switches, a new fuse box, multiple outlets, walls painted, flooring installed, trim installed, gas line moved, replaced all windows in house, added storm doors. After the construction was complete we had one minor issue with a piece of the flooring. Robert was sent back the next day and fixed the issue.

I have nothing but good things to say about Neighborhood. When we first decided to remodel our master bathroom, we met with a few area contractors. I was very impressed with Neighborhood during the initial consultation, and when their estimate came in lower than the others, that really sealed the deal. We had not previously done any extensive remodeling jobs and Neighborhood helped us through every step of the process. They also have good working relationships with many of the local supply places, so our experiences selecting bathroom fixtures and tile were relatively painless. Neighborhood also gave us complete freedom in product selection, so we were able to mix higher-end and lower-end materials in a way that fit within our style and budget. Once it came time to start the actual remodel, Neighborhood organized two initial project meetings where we met all of the individuals who would be working on our bathroom (project manager, main contractor, plumber and electrician). We greatly appreciated the fact that Neighborhood organized these meetings at a time that was conducive to our schedule (i.e., very first thing in the morning). After these initial meetings, they started work immediately. Both Bill (Project Manager) and Peter (Primary Contractor) checked in regularly regarding progress and were extremely quick to resolve any open issues. Peter was great about checking in on any and all design decisions. Neighborhood also took care of the entire permit process (which included multiple inspections). Once we actually started the work, Neighborhood finished the entire job in about eight weeks. We are extremely pleased with our new bathroom, especially the custom shower and custom shelving units
Description of Work: Extensive remodel of master bathroom, including a custom shower with significant tile and glass work.
Luke Rosseland provided clear and detailed information and recommendations about the best and most efficient approach to the repairs that were needed, options for replacing tile, fixtures and shower enclosure, and clear and fair pricing. During the quoting phase Luke provided an extensive list of local referrals and recommended suppliers of various materials and fixtures. Luke was also very helpful and responsive in working with our insurance company about the work that was needed and how it was done for the repair and replacement portion of the job. Mike Cooper who managed the project on site did a great job of keeping everything on track, personally inspecting and ensuring the best quality of work at each stage. All questions and concerns with Mike were addressed completely and immediately. The team picked up and delivered the products ordered from various suppliers, and returned unused products for us for credit. Kamil, who was the on-site lead installer, is highly skilled and did fantastic work in every respect; very responsive, with attention to the details and quality, and he provided great on-site advice on a number of decisions we needed to make as the job went along - about materials to use, colors, design configuration, etc. Bart and Ozzie who were also on the team handling painting, tile installation and other tasks did meticulous work and were very considerate about noise, dust and worksite cleanliness. At one point we had a quality issue with a new vanity delivered for installation, and Mike and Kamil thoroughly assessed the problem, re-ordered it from the supplier, returned the original product, and basically took care of everything - and the final installation was perfect. Bottom line: this company was great to work with, they did high quality work, they kept their commitments, they were fairly priced, and they are very nice people. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Removed & repaired damaged drywall in 3 rooms; in master bathroom repaired subfloor, wall and bathtub framing; installed all new tile throughout bathroom; installed new fixtures, faucets, custom shower glass, etc.; paint and finish. As an add-on to the original job, we had the team install a new toilet and sink to another bathroom and install a new laundry sink. Very responsive and fairly priced on the original pricing and for the additional work we needed.

This organization is tremendously organized, prompt and professional...from providing the quote, to managing the project, to being on time each and every day, to communicating with us throughout the entire process. Mike Rosseland was our project manager and he visited a couple of times a week and worked hard behind the scenes to make sure things ran smoothly,, etc. Mike was very good about communicating with us about what was going on and keeping the project on track. Paul was our job foreman and he is amazing. His skill and work ethic are unbelievable. Paul offered ideas, suggestions and guidance to us that was invaluable and really made a difference in the outcome. His experience is so extensive and he willingly shared his thoughts with us. Paul's crew, Martin and Emilio, were exceptional. They were prompt every single day, worked diligently for long hours, and did high quality work. I can't say enough complimentary things about Paul and crew. We also used Abbey Henning's design services to help us with some of the choices we made (tile, countertops, light fixtures, paint color, etc.) and we are so pleased with her suggestions and help. Abbey worked hard with us to know what we liked and offered spot-on suggestions. This was a huge project (for us) and we couldn't be happier with the outcome and having chosen Neighborhood Remodelers!
Description of Work: Neighborhood Remodelers gutted the bathroom in our master bedroom down to the studs and transformed our 1985 bathroom into a beautiful, classic, bathroom and exceeded all of our expectations. A Jacuzzi tub was removed and replaced with a stand-alone soaker tub, the shower ceiling was raised, new vanities installed, electrical, plumbing, tiling, etc. Our outdated bathroom is now absolutely beautiful.

Very professional and high quality service. Owner himself made initial visit and spent time consulting with me. The foreman did a walk through with the workmen and provided good consulting on the tilework and ideas that made a big difference. The workmen were friendly, reliable, punctual and skilled. They put down floor protection and cleaned up every night. They gave me plenty of time to inspect the work in process, and touched up anything I noticed. Found a small problem after they were done, and they came right back and fixed it. Very satisfied, and would use them again, hands down. Great job.
They were wonderful! They were great about laying down plastic sheeting on all of the areas they would be walking on from the front door on. They were punctual every day. They worked all day long - no lunch breaks!! They were very precise in their measurements. Our bathroom (it turns out) was not totally squared and true, so they made the needed adjustments to keep the new shower square and true which was necessary for the new shower door. The total job took a little longer than predicted, but that was partially due to additional needed tile was back-ordered. They were careful and meticulous and did not rush through the job. I was in contact often with the project manager who always returned my emails promptly. I look forward to be able to use them again for another bathroom.
Description of Work: NR remodeled our master bathroom - removed soaker tub and installed a shower, tile, shower door, toilet, ceiling fan, floor tile and painted. They also installed a new double sink and faucets.

A long overdue review. The project was completed several months ago, but I had a long trip soon after, followed by the busy holiday season. Here it goes... I accepted bids from 4 different companies. On the low end was a contractor who came with a brochure of cabinets to choose from. On the high end was one of those you hear on radio and TV commercials. Neighborhood Remodelers and another company were in the mid-range category. I awarded the project to NR because I like their team concept. You know who you'll be dealing with day in and day out. I also like the flexibility of buying the materials myself if I wanted to. They pass on their discounts to you. You walk into a Studio 41, Crawford Supplies, Abt Electronics (of which I happen to be a loyal customer), or a tile shop. You tell them you?re working with NR and the discounts automatically apply. I know because one time, I forgot to mention that NR sent me there. When I did, the price dropped 32%. How the team concept work is, you first meet with the salesman/owner (Luke). He emails you a ?Scope of Work? proposal with the Angie?s List discount, which I was able to negotiate a little bit more. Once a contract is signed, a team is assigned to you and they all come to meet you. I'm sure they do a lot more, but from my point of view, my team consisted of the designer (Jill) who basically configured my cabinets and drew the blueprint, a project manager (Mike) who manages the timeline and was my go-to person for questions and issues, and a foreman (Peter) who was the all-around carpenter, plumber, electrician, tile installer, painter, appliance installer because mine is a small kitchen. I like every single person in my team from the moment I they were introduced to me. They were all very responsive even after the project is done. I like that I could communicate with them via email because if I remembered something late at night, I did not have to wait to call during office hours. Jill was superb to work with, very knowledgeable and helpful throughout my selection process. She even replied to my late night and weekend emails, not that I expected her to! The project only ran into 2 unexpected issues. For the first one, I emailed Mike and he was on-site within 45 minutes to assess the situation, make a call, and provide a solution (for a price of course). The other issue was resolved over email and the countertop folks were scheduled to provide the solution right away. I also appreciate the way they handle billing. You know what to expect and you?re dealing with efficient people. No surprises. Lastly, I cannot say enough about Peter the foreman. He comes in with a smile every day. Did everything by himself, from demolition, haul-away, to completion and cleanup. I counted that he only actually worked 12 days. The other days were delivery days, floor install, etc. Sure, not everything is perfect. (My friends keep pointing out imperfections to me!) One cannot be a jack of all trades after all, but overall, he did a great job. Kitchen remodeling is hard enough on the homeowner, but Neighborhood Remodelers made the experience as pleasant as possible. They completed the project within 5 weeks as promised, meeting my hard deadline. There were no surprises with the cost and in fact, I even went under the estimate. How often can you say that about a kitchen remodeling project?
Description of Work: Complete tear down of a small 21 year old galley kitchen. Basic oak cabinets, laminate countertops, white appliances, builders stock lighting, linoleum floor, you get the picture. It was replaced with up-to-the-ceiling white cabinets (maple), quartz countertop, stainless steel appliances, recessed and under-cabinet lighting, glass tile backsplash, and conversion of a bar counter to a peninsula. Hardwood floor for the entire first floor was installed by a different company but the 2 companies coordinated well together.

From the first contact with this company for an estimate it has been a great experience. I had heard horror stories about hiring contractors from many friends and was frankly going into this project a bit wary, but with corroding pipes and a broken shower valve, it was essential work. As what I thought was a minor problem became bigger and bigger I decided to try to find a good contractor. I certainly found them - they took the project off my shoulders and saved me so much time and anxiety. Frankly, going with Neighborhood Remodelers was the best decision I could have made. Sam in the office was genuine and responded to every question I had from scheduling to the mechanics of payment. Unlike with other companies I contacted, I didn't feel like my job was too minor or not worth their time. Luke came out to do the estimate and did a great job being patient and answering all of my questions as well as arriving exactly on time. He was very up front and honest about the work and the length of time he felt might be needed. We had a pretty firm budget in mind since this wasn't a planned renovation but he managed to explain why each item needed to be done. The estimate was very reasonable (and very close to our original budget) plus they were able to fit our job in earlier than we expected. Everything was set, and a suggestion from Luke saved us some money when we were trying to get a (reasonably priced) tile that somewhat matched our vintage 1920's subway tile from the other two walls. We were able to quickly schedule an overview with Bill (project manager) and Marek (project foreman) - both amazing. They also managed to save our vintage double-apron tub which would have been hard to replace on a budget. They had wonderful suggestions, including building a shower niche that I adore. I can't say enough about the work that was done - they were even able to work with me when my chosen tile didn't come in the right sized bull-nose and replicate the pattern on the other two walls. Everything was easily coordinated with the condo building manager when the water needed to be shut off for plumbing work. Marek and Bill came right on time the day work began and I had no problem leaving everything in Marek's hands. The project ran on time which was very important since, with only one bathroom in our condo and four of us, we had moved out during the work period. I might have even done a happy dance when I first saw the results - after years of living with old cracked tile and problematic, falling out soap dishes, it was such a great moment to see the completed work. I had no problems whatsoever and was happy to report to my amazed family and friends that the project ran on time, on budget, and with no negative experiences. That had everything to do with the people that make up this company. I highly recommend Neighborhood Remodelers to anyone and everyone - they will treat you right and the results will be wonderful.
Description of Work: 1920's vintage bathroom - demo two walls of tile, replace shower, bath, and sink plumbing that were corroding, install new bath and shower fixtures, rebuild and re-tile the walls around shower and behind sink and toilet, grout, caulking, fix drywall by shower head, etc.

My wife and I purchased her grandparents' house earlier this year with the intent of completely remodeling it and bringing it into the 21st century. We had around 6 contractors come out to bid on what we wanted to do. From our first meeting with Luke, we were sure we were making the right choice in Neighborhood Remodelers. He scheduled two walk-throughs with us to make sure he understood our vision - one to get a sense of scope and to put a proposal together and a second to have his design team get a look at the type of work we'd need to have done. He had a proposal back to us within 2 days. Some of the other proposals we received were really vague and open-ended, sometimes only including around half of what we wanted to remodel. NR?s proposal was definitely the most thorough (and the most reasonable) and it covered everything we wanted to do, including knocking down a load bearing wall and completely finishing the basement. This was a huge job but Luke, Mick (our project manager), Jill (our designer), and Erick (our foreman) were amazing from start to finish. Everyone at NR was so great at communicating with us and making sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. The planning phase with Jill was a ton of fun and everything that we designed with her came out exactly how we envisioned it. Mick was in constant contact with us throughout the demolition and remodeling process. We were actually out of the country at the beginning of the demolition but Mick sent us pictures so we could see the progress. It was always reassuring to get updates whenever something was happening, since we were not on site during most of this process. When the ?finishing? work was being done, Mick and Erick made sure that we saw everything in person so that we could make adjustments or approve of all of the work being completed. And, if anything ever needed to be changed, Erick and his team were always willing to do whatever we asked of them. Mick followed up even weeks after the job was ?done? to make sure that everything was up to our expectations and when something needed to be fixed they came back out to fix it. We had planned for the entire remodeling process to take about 3 months. It did end up being a few weeks longer than that and we had to move in before the house was completely ready, although most of the time at the start of the project was held up by a delay in the permit process with the city. We also had a lot of additional work that we needed to do mostly because the house was built in 1950s (such as electrical and plumbing upgrades). In hindsight, the one thing I wish we had done was plan for more of these contingencies at the outset. Since we worked with a construction loan, it would have been much easier on us to get that all in the loan budget instead of coming up with more money out-of-pocket. However, Kerin in the office was awesome in coordinating everything on the payment side and making sure the bank got everything they needed to fund all of the work being done. So despite a few minor hiccups along the way (getting delayed by the city?s water department, mostly), it was all worth it in the end. We have our dream house and it?s completely our design! We recommend Neighborhood Remodelers to all of our family and friends who are looking to update or renovate, and we will definitely call them first with any projects that come up in the future.

This is actually the second time we've used Neighborhood Remodelers. The first was to gut the bathroom for a complete remodel along with updating the kitchen--new counters, island base, tile back splash, sinks, faucets, etc. Both turned out beautiful, which is why I called them again. This should be a testament to the quality of their work. 1. You receive a detailed contract, with a list of all tasks to be performed and who will be responsible for what. I always read it carefully and asked about any items that I may not understand. They are more than happy to discuss with you. 2. Both jobs started and finished on time. They are very prompt--if they say they will start at 8:30 each day, they do. If they stop to pick up some parts and will arrive later or need to change a schedule, you will get a call. 3. A project manager is assigned to each remodel, who you can call at any time with questions or concerns. There is continuity--for example, our project manager for both remodels was the same person. He was great to work with, especially since I was working full time during the first project, and with all of us on different schedules things can get complicated. I had everyone's phone number provided to me. 4. There is also a designer on staff who helped me with the bathroom--she helped with the entire layout and the custom vanity--it turned out perfect! 5.They also provide you with a list of suppliers in your area, when looking for fixtures, tile, etc., which I found helpful. 6. The gentlemen who did all the work (which is an art) were very professional and I enjoyed working with them. During the messy parts of the construction, they hung plastic tarps to keep dust at a minimum, and left the work areas very neat at the end of the day. .
Description of Work: Knocked out a wall to enlarge space between kitchen/dining area and a computer/office area, which will now be used as a family room. This was a support wall, which involved putting in a header, closing up a doorway, moving and installing an outlet, putting up new drywall, including patching, sanding and priming walls. A small amount of tile had to be replaced where wall came down.

Luke was our sales contact, Bill our Project Manager, Art the foreman and Abbey was our designer. The quote was not the cheapest we received but we really liked the way they NR themselves; came across as very professional, a standard they maintained well throughout the project. Abbey make a great difference before we got started; listening to our ideas and guiding us with some timely suggestions. The village threw us a few curve balls on length of time to get the permit and other petty requirements but Bill and Art had some resolutions pretty quickly, which allowed us to continue to move forward. If we had a complaint, and it is not major, it is sometimes we were not sure what was going to be happening day to day. That said Bill was always very quick to get back to us with accurate information. The work is completed to a very high standard across the board and our basement is now a really great living space.
Description of Work: Demo’d basement back to brick and concrete. Rebuilt basement incl: framing, windows, exterior door, flooring, drywall and moving A/C ducts, canned lights and outlets, a dry bar and a built in bench seat

Luke came out and did the initial bidding for the job. When we decided to go with Neighborhood Remodelers (NR), Luke, Marek, Bill, and Jill came out to talk about the job. I was given a notebook with contact information, suggested vendors to use for the various items needed, and the contract. The kitchen was gutted back to the studs, two non-load bearing walls were removed. The existing oak floor had new boards toothed in where the walls and old cabinetry had been, then was stained and sealed. Jill worked with us for the cabinets, and her layout was great. She helped make beautiful selections, and we are very pleased with the end results. For every question along the way, Bill (the project manager) was very responsive, and gently educated us where needed on what was possible. Marek (carpentry, drywall, tile, etc.) was amazing. His work is great, and he got an amazing amount of work done every day he was at our house. The plumber and electrician were contracted, and did a fine job. We had one issue where it was determined we needed to change from a chimney-style hood to an awning-style. This caused the pull-out spice rack next to it to not be usable. I talked to Jill, she ordered the appropriate replacement door and shelves, and Marek did the installation. All taken care of quickly and without fuss. We had two add-ons to the original contract, which were professionally handled. Workers came and went mostly without problems, and the few times that someone showed up unexpectedly, we were able to either reschedule with Bill, or let them do the work. But always with an apology. Everyone involved was professional and easy to work with. A great company to work with, and I would recommend them.
