It was an overall great experience. Luke was great to deal with and was always very responsive (quick and honest) to any questions we had. Damien and his team were very professional and while we stayed in the house throughout the renovation we hardly knew they were there.
We had several companies come out to bid on the project and though Neighborhood was not the cheapest (but not too much more expensive than most others) we felt the most comfortable with them. When spending this much money on a full kitchen remodel, you want someone you can trust who has the experience to do the job right.
I couldn't be happier. I had to be out of town when the job started and Luc assured me that they could start the project without me. They kept me informed of all phases and when I got back in town, the kitchen was well underway. At all times were they respectful of cleaning up at the end of the day and keeping product that was delivered orderly and out of the way. The workmanship was superb and I never felt that they were cutting corners or installing things improperly. They always took the time to make sure the installation was done right!
I live in a condominium and my neighbors were never bothered by noise, the hallways were never dirtied or damaged. Everyone was surprised I was having work done because they were never disrupted during the workday.
I worked with Abbey picking out product and she was incredibly helpful. I could not have gone through this without her guidance and helpfulness.
The work in both the kitchen and bath was done so well, that 7 weeks after completion of the project, I have only 1 minor thing on my punch list.
The staff in the office was pleasant to work with and they were helpful with any questions I had.
I highly recommend this company, will recommend them to friends and family, and will use them again in the future.
In the end, the powder room looks like it was original to the house and the work exceeds our expectations. What I've always liked about Neighborhood Remodelers is how easy they are to work with and how concerned they are to make sure everything is done right... they're just good people.
Accuracy: Everything they estimated was spot on: they showed up when they said they'd be there, took exactly the amount of time estimated, and the final invoice was not full of surprises.
Quality: My wife and I are detail freaks and we both agree the work is top-notch, the tile work is fantastic.
Employees: Mario and his helper were easy to work with and would call any time they had a question. They listened to what we wanted and had some excellent suggestions about changes and details we hadn't thought of.
We highly recommend this company and look forward to working with them in the future.
the scope of the project and quickly gave us a very competitive quote (within 3 days). We met with the designer, project manager, and foreman to kick off the project who were all professional and competent. The project entailed major kitchen and 2 big
bathrooms rehab work. The kitchen designer helped designed a great kitchen layout and provided good insights on
cabinet choices. The project manager recommended good vendors for bathroom & kitchen fixtures and tiles (the contacts
he had were so helpful in helping us out with tile choices). We ended up choosing our own countertop
company for better pricing. Overall, my experience with NR was excellent. i was impressed by their professionalism and responsiveness, I wouldn?t hesitate to hire them on another project.
It was practically a complete rehab - the only parts kept are the bathtub and radiator. To give an impression of the condition it was in, there was water damage from never having an exhaust fan and behind the walls we found a scrap of newspaper from 1956.
Neighborhood Remodelers updated the electricity and plumbing, put up new walls, and installed the new tiling and fixtures. What's more, the room is small (maybe 6 feet by 8 feet) and they consulted on the best sink, cabinets, toilet, and fixtures to make the most of the space. This included relocating outlets and placing new lighting fixtures - not the easiest solution, but the best one for the room. We are very happy with the work done and love the personal attention that they gave the project. It felt to us that it wasn't just work to them; they seemed excited about it.
We have more modernization projects that we're looking to do on the house and will certainly look to Neighborhood Remodelers.
And we are now having problems with aluminum 'under roofing' (not sure what it is called) blowing away because it wasn't tacked down. We had prior aluminum roofing by a different company (unfortunately retired) and never had this problem for over 15 years. It is a larger surface area than before, however, so to be fair, so this may be one reason for the problem.
I am grateful that they did at least finish the job despite the horrible winter conditions they were working through. I am sure they have been fine for many jobs, but I probably would prefer to try someone different.
We were fortunate in being able to schedule the various phases of the work without much delay-time intervening. For example, we were able to schedule the demolition phase just as the cabinets were about to be delivered, and the countertops were constructed (by DTK Stone Works of Wheeling, IL, quite expeditiously I might add) as soon as the cabinet installation was completed. The result? There was minimal down-time when nothing was happening and during which we had to contend with the logistical inconveniences of the project.
Overall, I was impressed by the work ethic, communication skills, and business tactics of this family-operated company. My wife and I give them our highest rating and unqualified recommendation. We would certainly hire them in the future for any additional remodeling work that we might need.
I would recommend them again. Only issue we had was a PM that started on our job wasn't that responsive, but it turned out that NR didn't think so either, because he no longer works for the company.. if you are interested in finding out more, please don't hesitate to ask Luke for my email for a reference.
Best,
Bill
