I couldn't be happier. I had to be out of town when the job started and Luc assured me that they could start the project without me. They kept me informed of all phases and when I got back in town, the kitchen was well underway. At all times were they respectful of cleaning up at the end of the day and keeping product that was delivered orderly and out of the way. The workmanship was superb and I never felt that they were cutting corners or installing things improperly. They always took the time to make sure the installation was done right! I live in a condominium and my neighbors were never bothered by noise, the hallways were never dirtied or damaged. Everyone was surprised I was having work done because they were never disrupted during the workday. I worked with Abbey picking out product and she was incredibly helpful. I could not have gone through this without her guidance and helpfulness. The work in both the kitchen and bath was done so well, that 7 weeks after completion of the project, I have only 1 minor thing on my punch list. The staff in the office was pleasant to work with and they were helpful with any questions I had. I highly recommend this company, will recommend them to friends and family, and will use them again in the future.

Our 1937 Cape Cod had a breakfast nook that was mostly wasted space so we decided to transform it into a powder room. Sebastian, the project lead, was very easy to work with and very dedicated to getting everything just right. We needed to run new electrical, plumbing (including re-running some existing pipe), build out a new wall, insulate, drywall, trim, paint and tile. We decided to re-tile the kitchen at the same time to visually unite the spaces. Sebastian was sure to ask questions as he went along, offer options, and provide detailed pros and cons. The work space was kept clean and the rest of the house was protected from airborne debris as the work progressed. Mike, the project manager, picked up and delivered the flooring, fixtures, and kept the project on schedule. In the end, the powder room looks like it was original to the house and the work exceeds our expectations. What I've always liked about Neighborhood Remodelers is how easy they are to work with and how concerned they are to make sure everything is done right... they're just good people.
Description of Work: This is the fourth project we've completed with Neighborhood Remodelers. We've now done a room addition (a tear down of a sun room that was replaced with a vaulted ceiling family room), a complete Hardiboard siding, gutters, and upstairs Marvin windows replacement project, a complete gut of the main bathroom, and now, converting a seldom used kitchen breakfast nook into a powder room. Clearly, we're pleased with their work and highly recommend them.
Neighborhood Remodelers were competitive price-wise with the other three quotes we received. They came across as more professional in their presentation; leaving us will a binder full of references, some local, many with similar projects. They turned around a quote on the same day. Not only were they able to promise the job would be completed before Christmas but they were the only contractor that didn't give us the impression that they would be doing us a favor to take on such a small job when they are so flush with work. We were left with the impression that they truly wanted our business. Accuracy: Everything they estimated was spot on: they showed up when they said they'd be there, took exactly the amount of time estimated, and the final invoice was not full of surprises. Quality: My wife and I are detail freaks and we both agree the work is top-notch, the tile work is fantastic. Employees: Mario and his helper were easy to work with and would call any time they had a question. They listened to what we wanted and had some excellent suggestions about changes and details we hadn't thought of. We highly recommend this company and look forward to working with them in the future.
Description of Work: Small full bathroom remodel. Walled in a window, Installed ceramic tile on floor, removed bathtub and installed a custom shower base with river rock floor tile and subway tile to the ceiling in new shower, installed new shower head and controls, updated plumbing where necessary, replaced toilet and sink, installed a new mirror and lights, moved outlet and rezoned light switches with dimmers.

Everyone involved with the project was professional, detail oriented, and friendly. I could not be happier with the results of the project.
Description of Work: Remodeled a small bathroom and tiled a kitchen backsplash.
Couldn't have gone better. Everything promised was delivered. They promised job completed in 6-8 weeks, finished in 7. They promised they would have someone on-site daily until the job was complete and that was truly the case - no delays. Their bid was a detailed 72 point itemized list with the understanding that there could be savings anywhere. For example, the bid included pendent lighting at $100/light and if we wanted cheaper, the bid would be adjusted. The bid for cabinetry was a little high so they worked with us on the price at a nice savings for us. Other contractors gave us very generic bids that were cheaper but after comparing apples to apples, Neighborhood Remodelers was the obvious choice. Questions with regards to change orders were literally addressed within an hour. During the middle of the renovation, we wanted the new plumbing to extend to our second floor and within an hour, we received a new proposal via email with the extra cost. Their communication was incredible and my wife and I felt they were looking out for our best interest, not what was easy or convenient for them. We lived in the home during the renovation and they went above board to make us comfortable. Their staff, from their initial visit to our home, to the selection of our cabinetry at their showroom, to the on-site construction were truly professionals.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of first floor including kitchen, living room, and dining room. They demo'd everything to the bare brick including ripping out old hardwood floors. New walls, bamboo flooring, electric, gas, plumbing, appliances, kitchen island, cabinetry, crown molding, garden window, etc. They removed a load bearing wall and installed a support beam creating an open concept. They also remodeled stairwell going to the second floor.

Neighborhood Remodelers have been wonderful from day one of our engagement. Luke came by and evaluated the scope of the project and quickly gave us a very competitive quote (within 3 days). We met with the designer, project manager, and foreman to kick off the project who were all professional and competent. The project entailed major kitchen and 2 big bathrooms rehab work. The kitchen designer helped designed a great kitchen layout and provided good insights on cabinet choices. The project manager recommended good vendors for bathroom & kitchen fixtures and tiles (the contacts he had were so helpful in helping us out with tile choices). We ended up choosing our own countertop company for better pricing. Overall, my experience with NR was excellent. i was impressed by their professionalism and responsiveness, I wouldn?t hesitate to hire them on another project.

They were good about being on time. They sent me the same two people everyday to finish the job. We called them about the hearth/flooring issue but nothing has been resolved on this.
Description of Work: They took off paneling on our lower level and they put up drywall, painted it. They put in a stone fireplace from floor to ceiling. Put in a pocket door. And put in wood steps to go downstairs (changed from carpet). They also put in LED lights in the ceiling. They installed a bamboo flooring up to the hearth (but there is no place for it to expand or contract - it buckles)

We have a 100+ year-old bungalow that we have owned for a little more than three years. It's in good condition, but is in need of modernization. The first project we have undertaken is the main bathroom, for which we contracted Neighborhood Remodelers. Now it is the best room in the house. It was practically a complete rehab - the only parts kept are the bathtub and radiator. To give an impression of the condition it was in, there was water damage from never having an exhaust fan and behind the walls we found a scrap of newspaper from 1956. Neighborhood Remodelers updated the electricity and plumbing, put up new walls, and installed the new tiling and fixtures. What's more, the room is small (maybe 6 feet by 8 feet) and they consulted on the best sink, cabinets, toilet, and fixtures to make the most of the space. This included relocating outlets and placing new lighting fixtures - not the easiest solution, but the best one for the room. We are very happy with the work done and love the personal attention that they gave the project. It felt to us that it wasn't just work to them; they seemed excited about it. We have more modernization projects that we're looking to do on the house and will certainly look to Neighborhood Remodelers.

I wanted to give it a year or two before commenting. Overall, it is okay...and to their credit, they had done the work during one of our extremely rough winters. They weren't the cheapest quote or most expensive. Their office staff is nice. At several points they tried to use cheaper material and products which didn't conform to design and then had to redo ...had my husband not queried we would have been 'stuck'. To be fair, my husband wasn't convinced this was intentional on their part; however there was no attempt to contact us or discuss before proceeding, so then things had to be redone. The main problem though is that the outdoor stairs are not even and the slope isn't accurate and so water pools on some of them....We contacted them and they seem to be convinced the stairs were sloped correctly. But the stairs don't slope correctly and it would be very complicated to redo them. Water seeps through on some of the stairs so now we are having to figure out a fix. And we are now having problems with aluminum 'under roofing' (not sure what it is called) blowing away because it wasn't tacked down. We had prior aluminum roofing by a different company (unfortunately retired) and never had this problem for over 15 years. It is a larger surface area than before, however, so to be fair, so this may be one reason for the problem. I am grateful that they did at least finish the job despite the horrible winter conditions they were working through. I am sure they have been fine for many jobs, but I probably would prefer to try someone different.
Description of Work: Extension (mudroom and back stairs for a two flat)
This was the second major home remodeling project that we have attempted in the 30 years that we have lived in our house. Our first was a complete bathroom remodel, done in the summer of 2013 by Neighborhood Remodelers (NR), whom we obtained from Angie's List. We were so pleased by that experience that we went with this firm for our kitchen project, and we are quite happy that we did so. From start to finish, the people who are part of NR have done a superb job in all aspects of what is, to me at least, a very formidable task. The excellent architectural drawings of Jill Stumpf as well as her advice helped us immensely during the planning phase as well as in our shopping expeditions. They provided essential guidance to the craftsmen as they assembled the materials into the finished product. Our day-to-day progress was monitored by project manager Mike Cooper, who was completely responsive to our questions and concerns, making daily visits to our home to stay on top of the work and giving excellent suggestions when asked. Much praise must be given to Marek and his crew of highly skilled workers for dealing with the many challenging issues that arose during the course of the work. These included Chris, who was largely responsible for accomplishing most of the project, with some assistance from Robert and Jack (who was the craftsman mainly responsible for remodeling our bathroom two years ago). The field people had fine support by an efficient office staff, led by Luke, Kerin, and Samantha. All of the staff did their best to minimize the discomfort of the experience. We were fortunate in being able to schedule the various phases of the work without much delay-time intervening. For example, we were able to schedule the demolition phase just as the cabinets were about to be delivered, and the countertops were constructed (by DTK Stone Works of Wheeling, IL, quite expeditiously I might add) as soon as the cabinet installation was completed. The result? There was minimal down-time when nothing was happening and during which we had to contend with the logistical inconveniences of the project. Overall, I was impressed by the work ethic, communication skills, and business tactics of this family-operated company. My wife and I give them our highest rating and unqualified recommendation. We would certainly hire them in the future for any additional remodeling work that we might need.
Description of Work: 10/19/15 to 11/16/15: complete kitchen remodel, including demolition and removal of existing cabinets, sinks and faucets, countertop, flooring, lighting fixtures and wall trim, followed by installation of new porcelain tile floor, cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures, and wall tile.

We hired NR to redo a number of rooms in our house. We worked with their designer who was excellent.. She was very responsive and we loved her taste. The NR construction team was great too. they have a great crew and if your family is around while they work, they are very friendly.. My kids loved the guys that were over on a regular basis. Luke is great too.. Professional and will work with you on things... I would recommend them again. Only issue we had was a PM that started on our job wasn't that responsive, but it turned out that NR didn't think so either, because he no longer works for the company.. if you are interested in finding out more, please don't hesitate to ask Luke for my email for a reference. Best, Bill
Description of Work: Kitchen, Bathrooms, Bonus Room, Living Room, Steam Shower
Neighborhood Remodelers helped us remodel our 20 year old kitchen. Jill, the designer, did an excellent job with our project. She listened to our needs, was patient as we worked through the design process, and delivered a plan that resulted in a beautiful and functional space. The project team started the demo work on schedule, was very respectful and professional while in our home, and kept us informed of the progress throughout the project. We were very impressed by the work performed by Robert - he was meticulous in his detail work with drywall repairs and painting, setting the cabinetry, applying the trim - basically in all aspects of his work. There were additional charges that arose due to electrical and plumbing issues that surfaced after the old kitchen was removed but we had been made aware that this would happen in the initial contract phase and the project manager, Mike, made sure we were aware of what needed to be done and the associated costs. We felt that the project was completed in a timely manner given the size of the space and considering some of the issues that cropped up along the way. We were happy with all of the sub-contractors on the project with the exception of the flooring contractor. Overall we are very pleased with our new kitchen and believe that the team at NR delivered as promised. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to tackle a remodeling project in their own home.

It went great. The told us they'd start the first week of September and they did. They told us it would take 3-4 weeks and it did. They were here working everyday, including a couple of Saturday's. Any time I had a question it was very easy to reach Mike and hear back quickly. If there ever was any issue it was remedied quickly. Everyone in our home was friendly, professional and clean. They were not our cheapest quote, but we are so happy we went with NR. Seamless experience, excellent quality. Remodeling never seems like an easy thing to do...but they make it that way.
Description of Work: Gutted small full bath. gutted adjacent closet and incorporated it to make larger bath. added plumbing to move bath. moved hvac and electrical. Our experience with Neighborhood Remodelers was absolutely fantastic. We could not ask for a better experience. Luke came to our home to provide us with an estimate and he was prepared, professional, engaging and we really felt we could trust him. And that experience carried through with everyone on the team. Jill, their designer, is amazing. We sat down with her and came up witha design that was exactly what we were looking for, and then some. She took the time to understand and offer insights and suggestions that were very valuable. And I can't say enough good things about Mike (GC) and Sebastian, who did a fantastic job with making it all happen. Mike is everything you want in a GC - incredibly responsive, knowledgable and professional. He coordinated everything and everyone well, kept us informed, answered every question quickly and was great to work with. Sebastian did an amazing job- from the demo throughout the installation right down to the finishing touches. He is very professional, keeps everything as clean as is possible during a renovation and does beautiful work. We wanted a team that would take care of everything, who we could trust, who are easy to work with, who do quality work and who could create the kitchen we've always wanted. They delivered. I recommend them without hesitation and we will definitely be using them for future projects.

This is my second experience with Neighborhood Remodelers and both have been near perfect. Mike Cooper has been the lead on both my projects and he is exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and pragmatic about both time and money. This time it was my daughter's bathroom and he was able to provide tips to get the most out of our small space. The project started when it was supposed to and finished in a timely fashion, even with a couple change requests I threw in (such as adding can lights in a whole different part of the house). Every detail was finished perfectly -- for both my projects I had two different crews and both were detailed, high-quality and tidy at the end of the day. Their costs are competitive too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend NR, and to use them again.

Luke was prompt in giving us an estimate for our kitchen renovation, and we liked the fact that it was like ?one-stop shopping?, as they would create a design plan, order the cabinets, and had a project manager with a team of two workers doing the renovation. They were not our cheapest estimate, but in the middle. Our design person did an excellent job planning out our kitchen with a large island and plenty of storage. We are pleased with the way our new kitchen looks now, but felt that the renovation was much more stressful than it needed to be. The workers tried to take many shortcuts and didn?t complete certain parts of the work unless we questioned it. Then when we would contact the project manager, it would get done. The workers said they couldn?t install the stove hood we bought, but that we needed to choose a different one. The designer told us that the stove hood we bought could be installed, and then it was done. They didn?t put an outlet in our island until near completion of the kitchen and not until we asked why there was no outlet. The outlet fell out of the island the same day, and the worker had to come back to fix it. We would have liked them to change a few other outlets in the room to match the kitchen, but it was clear that they didn?t want to be bothered with that. We added a couple of extras, such as new baseboards, which needed to be stained and varnished. It appeared that they were in a hurry to get to the next job, as, for example, they actually stained and varnished over a sticker on the wood. (photo enclosed) After the flooring sub-contractor stained and refinished the floor, it was still very rough to the touch. He had to come back to buff it and put another coat of poly on it, which also meant that the furniture had to be moved out of the rooms again. The team was not neat, left their tools in our new drawers and created more dust than we felt necessary. The company was responsive to coming back to fix mistakes, but we felt it should have been done correctly the first time. Although we are enjoying the new kitchen, the remodeling project was much more stressful than it needed to be, and we would not hire them again. Due to some leaking by the toilet and the need to pull up floor tile, I decide to update the bathroom. it is the only bathroom on the second floor. Luke came out and he seemed great. I liked the work I saw on their website and the reviews on Angie's List were also very good. The price was the most expensive but by removing a couple of items and NR coming down a little, I decided to hire them. The project was supposed to take 2 weeks but lasted 2.5 months (on and off). The supplier they heavily recommended I use never placed the order for the bathroom vanity which pushed the timeline back (not NR's fault but they really pushed this company). Tile work is substandard, used 5 dot method on shower walls (which if you look up is not industry standard), shower pan had to be redone several time because they couldn't make it drain properly which added days of non-use for the shower, and the grout is cracking (at one point a small pebble size of grout came off and instead of filling in the hole created by the grout and redoing the grout, the installer attempted to just shove the pebble piece back and seal over it. Completely unacceptable and had to be redone). They installed shower doors without bothering to clean them, they installed metal trim only to scratch them and leave sealer all over the trim, somehow thinking I wouldn't be bothered by that. They succeeded in making a small bathroom feel even smaller. The installer blamed everything on the age of the house. There was absolutely no creative thinking to solve problems, maybe my project was to small for them to really care about it. To their credit, when I would raise issues on things that where not done or needed to be fixed, they did fix them (someone left a opened bottle of sealer laying on my hard wood which caused a decent sized stain, NR to fix the floor). NR also extended the warranty but that is little solace since any problems I have they will have created and I would have to think long and hard about having them come and fix anything under the warranty.

ou can count on Neighborhood Remodelers to do the job right and to your satisfaction. First we obtained a detailed quote from Luke breaking down the cost of everything. Surprising enough not many others places would do this. His price was best and he looked for ways to save us money. He brought a great booklet with him with a list of customers to call and Better Business Bureau and Angie's List Reviews. Also included was a list of suppliers for our project with a contractor discounted price. Always ask for this when shopping. Up to 33% 0ff. He explained the project would not start until all materials were on sight. Next we hooked up with their excellent designer Abbey. She made bathroom material selection way easier and gave us a final drawing. Present during the whole project. Great to work with. The Project Manager was Mick. He was pretty responsive with organizing the project. I would ask for him again. We had an electrician, carpenter and plumber for our project. The standout was Mario the carpenter who did most of the project. He is a quality driven perfectionist. Ask for him on your projects. The one problem with our Project was the electrician. It took him 7 visits to do a 2 visit project which monopolized our time. I would do another remodel with Neighborhood Remodelors.

We could not be more happy with the final product!!! Pricing We used Angie's List exclusively to identify several companies that appeared to be a good fit for our project. After receiving a quote from each, we spent a great deal of time making sure that we were evaluating everything on an apples-to-apples basis. Each of the three bids were in a significantly different format, but we used the Neighborhood Remodeler's format as the basis to compare the others. The reason for that was that it was the easiest to understand. It clearly stated what was included and what we needed to pay for, as well as what we could expect to pay for those items that we would be responsible for (tub, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, tile, etc.). All of it was itemized and clearly stated in the quote and final contract. FYI - we did make some changes along the way that added/subtracted from the original quote, but we came in exactly on that adjusted plan when it was said and done - no surprises. Schedule Our project was scheduled to begin late April and last for a total of about 6 weeks. The actual duration lasted a bit longer - into mid-July. While we were a little disappointed with the extended timeline, we were well informed along the way about reasons for, and changes to, the timeline. Most of our disappointment came from how anxious we were to start living in our beautiful new space - but there wasn't anything that should not have been expected on a project like this - or that wasn't addressed and communicated quickly. Project Management Our Project Manager was Sebastian. We cannot say enough about how happy we were with him and his work. Beyond being very good at what he does - he was also polite, respectful, and considerate. He was able to clearly understand and execute our vision, and was quick to point out any considerations we may not have thought of, but needed to be aware of. We were able to make decisions with confidence, and could not have been happier with him. Every aspect of what he did was excellent - especially his tile work! Fantastic! Design I need to put a quick plug in tor Abbey - thier designer. While we thought we had a good handle on things, we took advantage of Abbey's services to round out the details of our plan. Most of her time was spent on our tile selection - she met us on 3 occasions to select tile. She's very good at what she does, as she is a very good listener. Rather than push her preferences on you, she listens to what you like and in our case - two different thoughts. She was able to come up with a compromise that worked for both of us, or with just the right solution that brought everything together. The end product was so much better than we could have come up with on our own. She even designed a custom floor pattern for us since the tile we wanted had limited sizes available. If your start to get a headache in those places (like I do) - you have to give her a try! Neighborhood Remodelers This was the first project of this size for my wife and I. We had many reservations going into the process, and so many questions and fears as we began. When we met Luke Rosseland - the owner - our reservations immediately started to go away. He set very high expectations for his team, and they delivered in every aspect. Without hesitation - we will consider using them again. T

Neighborhood Remodelers was wonderful to work with during our kitchen remodel. Theirs was one of our low bids for our kitchen job, and everything was handled very professionally. All of the staff that I had contact with were superb. Their kitchen designer helped design a beautiful and effect kitchen layout. The project came in on time, on-budget, and we have a beautiful new space. The work is beautifully done and the quality of all materials is excellent. They are very thorough, knowledgeable and easy to work with. They communicated with all vendors (granite, etc.) and made it as easy as possible for me. The employees who were in my house on a daily basis were courteous and helpful. We are thrilled with our new space and would recommend this company without hesitation.
Description of Work: Neighborhood Remodelers completely gutted our old kitchen, opened up a wall, and built a new kitchen.

We were looking forward to the estimate and had pretty much decided that if it was competitive we would go with Neighborhood Remodelers for our project. As noted the estimate arrived promptly and we loved the detail it included. However, it was also the most costly estimate we received, by quite a bit (even with the Angie's List Discount of 10%). The price they quote and noted above is for labor only; the toilet, vanity, linen cabinet, tile, faucets, lights, etc (even the Kerdi system for the shower) was to be supplied/paid for by us. This is not a big bathroom (no bathtub) and we are not changing the location of the shower or the toilet. On the other hand we are moving the vanity and removing 2 pocket doors and closing off the walls in those locations. Note that we required a permit, licensed electricians and plumbers for all our estimates so that was not a differentiator. Anyway, in summary, we were impressed by the salesman Luke's professionalism, responsiveness and detail, but disappointed in the price. Perhaps they are so busy that they can afford to add a little extra profit margin in to the price.
Description of Work: Luke arrived on time for our preliminary meeting. He was professional and knowledgeable. He dropped off a folder with licenses, insurance and recommended suppliers. We reviewed our Master Bathroom project. He provided his estimate within 24 hours.

The project was completed on time and on budget. The craftsmanship was excellent. Management supervised the project diligently; craftsmen worked on the project daily, unless they advised us that for appropriate reasons they would not be in the house on a given day. They were accommodating on meeting an intermediate deadline (houseguests visited us at one point during construction and we needed a functional bathroom for them) and patient when some fixtures we ordered were delayed in arriving. At one point during the work, my wife and I came to the conclusion that a planned wine refrigerator to be located in a cabinet in the wet bar simply would not fit. Despite this concession, the Neighborhood craftsmen kept pursuing this and ultimately found a way to successfully fit the wine frig in the cabinet. Not only did Neighborhood Remodelers fulfill our visions for the two projects (bathroom and wet bar), the experience of having these folks necessarily all around our house was a pleasant one. From management to supervisors to craftsmen, all were friendly, respectful, and considerate of our needs. Problems were addressed without emotion, and Neighborhood took full responsibility for the quality of their work. Communication was good throughout the process and, most importantly, we encountered no surprises or hidden costs. We have previously executed at least three major renovation projects--finishing a four-room basement including a bathroom, as well separately gutting and rehabbing a kitchen and master bathroom--all of which were handled by other contractors. Frankly, I wish we had used Neighborhood for all of these extensive projects. This was the most most professional renovation experience we have had.

From our first meeting through the entire project these guys were GREAT! Their responsiveness to my concerns, the quality of their subs, their attention to detail and their pricing is UNMATCHED. Bill was our project manager and he kept everything on track. Additionally he was able to walk me off the ledge when unexpected things did occur, which of course they will when you are working on a 100 year old house. He also had some great ideas that substantially changed the overall quality of the project-i.e. different window placement, changed powder room flow, etc. I hired Neighborhood Remodelers after a positive referral from a friend who used them for her kitchen and like her I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

We had been thinking about redoing both of our bathrooms for awhile now. This spring after doing a bunch of contractor research we settled on Neighborhood Remodelers. We liked the fact that they were family owned and we loved their responsiveness. They walked us through the process and put us in contact with suppliers for parts. Overall we were pleased with their work and our bathrooms are looking great. Would recommend.
