Being my first condo purchased and my inability to pick paint colors on my own I did a lot of research on yelp and angies list trying to identify not just a painter that will do a good job but one who knows how to pick colors . The reason I selected Creative Walls was because of the reviews on how the colors were picked and I'm glad I listened, Diana brought ideas of what colors to choose that I never thought of and on faith I went with her recommendations and I couldn't be happier. The painters also labeled the leftover paint for future use. I'm really happy with the service that was provided. I would say if your looking for someone who can provide great ideas for color, and service look no further.

I had them come out and patch some significant cracks in the walls. I was talked into buying two deals; 4 hours for $99. I then purchased drywall and had the employee put up drywall in two cubbies so that I could use them for storage. Though I had some problems with the initial employee that came out, the company bent over backwards and fixed the problems as well as added some additional time to make up for the issues that I had. I want people to know that I did have issues, but what I feel is the most important part is that they fixed them and went above and beyond. This to me is very important in a company!!!
Description of Work: Work that was to be preformed is drywall patching and two small cubbies (spaces in the walls with doors on the house that were just studs) drywalled.

I am so so sorry to read all of this! I am the owner of the company and this is the first time that I am hearing about your dissatisfaction! Why didn't you call me to let me know about this? This particular painter has since moved to Arizona and is not longer working for us. He had been with us for 4 years and had been an excellant employee. However, you are not the first complaint the we have received about his work prior to him moving. I totally apologize and we will be happy to come spend an additional 4 hours doing any of the work that was not completed or any other work that can be done in that amount of time. I am so sorry that this happened and we will do what we can to make this right. I will call you to schedule a time for additional work.

I was very dissatisfied. It took several attempts to contact the company to schedule the work i.e,. plaster ceilings. The 2 workers arrived without ladders and minimal material supply, i.e. joint compound. Luckily I had ladders, and I drove to Menards to purchase the additional material. It took them a while just to get "organized" and to get started. Essentially, I was expecting professional plasterers; the workers were painters, by trade. This is to the provider response: 10/6/11 I paid for the additional 2 hours at the full rate I was quoted (I gave the check to the worker before he left). I only saw 1/4 of a bag of the patching material brought in by the painter. I purchased 2 bags myself, because I was paying for them to plaster and not to shop! I thought this to be more efficient - I did not mean to imply that I expected them to pay for the material. Finally, being physically present on a a site does not equate to working. I asked for a quote to finish the work, i.e. sand, smooth, and finish and was quoted an hourly rate, without any estimate of the time required to complete the work they started. This was unacceptable...I need a concrete estimate so I can inform my employer. Creative Walls & Spaces is mistaken...I was not disappointed because I was not going to get labor at $20/hr. I am not sure where that came from???!!

She is right, there was miscommunication between our plasterers on which one was supposed to bring ladders! I have let them know that this is unacceptable. The rest of this report is inaccurate and unfair. She contracted for 8 hours of plaster repair. We spent over 10 hours and did not charge for the additional time in order to make up for the ladder oversight. We had 2 - 5 lb bags of Durabond (that is a lot of plaster!) and went through every bit of it. One of our plasterers said that he would go to the store to get more and the customer insisted on going herself. She was so pleased with the quality of our work that she asked what we would charge to do the remaining work. I think that she was disappointed that she was not going to get 10 additional hours of work for $200.00. Our men worked very hard and did an excellant job and this rating is very unfair.

Based upon Angieslist reviews, we called Creative Wall and Spaces, Dianna, for a Proposal for interior paint in our highrise condo. Dianna was very-professional and -polite and her Proposal price very-fair. We wanted to hire Creative Walls and Spaces but company did not which our Condo Building Association requires and we prefer. We would consider Creative Wall and Spaces for future work and/or in different circumstances. :0)

My 85 year old father needed his condominium repainted, but did not know how to go about hiring the painters. In addition, he knew he wanted the wall colors changed, but couldn't make a decision, he was very nervous about having his privacy invaded, but did not want to leave the condo while the work was being done, and felt overwhelmed about needing everything moved away from the walls. After looking through the list of painters in his area on Angie's List, I contacted Diana at Creative Walls & Spaces because her site states that she will help with the color selection and also works with wallpaper (there was wallpaper that needed to be taken down). She arrived right on time, and just as she promised, she made the color selection very easy. My father is very pleased with the new colors. She was also able to accomodate him by doing faux painting in the kitchen, and promised to get the living room, where he spends most of his time, painted first. The other painters, who include her husband, are very personable and made my father feel comfortable while they were working around him. I could not be there on the last day of the job, but when I returned, I noticed that there were spots in the bathroom that needed to be redone. I called Diana and, without hesitation, she scheduled a date for her husband to return to make the corrections. I would definitely hire Creative Walls & Spaces again.
Description of Work: Every room in the condo was painted, either with a single color or with a faux paint finish. Several rooms had wallpaper that were starting to peel. Diana suggested that the entryway wallpaper should be reglued since it is still in good condition. The other wallpaper in the condo was removed, the walls were prepared, and then painted.

There isn't one single bit of constructive criticism I could add to the job. My wife and I were going on a two week vacation and left Diana a key so the job could be started and completed while we were out of town. When we returned, the place was finished, immaculate and looked even better than we had hoped for. My only piece of advice is: if you're going to use her, listen to her. She really does know what she's talking about.
Description of Work: We originally contacted three companies from Angies List, looking for an estimate for a complete interior painting of a six year old home. We already had our colors picked out and merely wanted a price and timeline. The first two companies that came out were just fine, and we would have been happy to hire either one of them. Once Diana came to our home, however, she looked at our home, our furniture, our tastes and our selected paint colors and quickly convinced us that we were going to end up with a beautiful BEIGE home. She then took us through our home, room by room, and made suggestions not only as to what would be nicer colors, but also how we could make the rooms much more dramatic by adding different color accent walls and trims. We ended up spending no more money than a traditional paint job would have cost. But Diana turned out to be as much an interior decorator as she is a painter. We couldn't be happier with the outcome.

It went very well. She is very professional, and she was very sincere and easy to talk to.
Description of Work: Diana was a genius with color. We had a complicated room and she recommended 3 shades of color. She also recommended colors for the rest of the house, and they blend beautifully throughout the house. She brings an excellent outside perspective and she really does understand color! I thought I had an idea of what I wanted, but Diana was an incredible help when it came to choosing colors. She had recommendations and suggestions, but was not the least bit pushy. She listened to what I wanted, and we went from there. She had some ideas that sounded great, but look AMAZING. The overall cost was about $400 more than the other company that gave me an estimate, but the thorough service that I got from Diana (THREE visits prior to paint on walls, plus she painted poster boards so we could hang the colors in the rooms to give me a visual) was a deal breaker. Not to mention that she was able to squeeze me in within a week and did the job while I was out of town-- not something I was comfortable doing with the other company. Can't wait to recommend Creative Walls and Spaces to my friends!

I hired Creative Walls and Spaces because Diana offered significant assistance with color selection, not to mention their many positive reviews. She made multiple trips out to the house and provided color boards which are a great idea and made the process very efficient. I am certain this helped ensure we liked the finished colors as opposed to looking at small paint chips that other painters proposed making decisions from. When we struck out on initial colors for the bedroom, she listened to what I was looking for and patiently started from square one and brought out new samples. I ended up adding one challenging (2 story high) wall of faux painting in the bedroom and love the end result. We had painters here for 2 weeks and they were a pleasure to work with. They had good attention to detail with the repair work that needed to be done and did their best to clean up at the end of each day so that we could work around the room they were currently working on. We are very happy with the end result and I would hire them again if I were in need of interior painting.
Description of Work: Creative Walls and Spaces painted the interior of our home. This included a fair amount of repair work to nail pops, peeling drywall tape, and a few cracks. We have two story high ceilings in the living room, foyer and master bedroom so this was a challenging project.

This was so fabulous that these are not just painters, they are friends now. I would invite them to work with me and for me and I would invite them to my dinner table. These are just the most wonderful people in the world. They helped with color selections. Their service, dedication, and professionalism was incomparable.
Description of Work: They did the interior painting and patching and trim. They did external trim on my windows. They did my basement floor and he put in a little bit of drywall in the furnace room. They sealed my back stairs. And they painted the furnace room, laundry area, and repaired my bedroom wall. Years ago, they did a fabulous faux finish in my attic stairwell and they painted my attic room.

I had a cracking, crumbling interior ceiling for over a year after roof repairs, always meant to get up there, clean up, seal, and repaint the damaged spot myself, but never got around to it. It is so challenging to find a contractor whose opinions, taste, demeanor and quality of work meet with our hopes and expectations. Look no further than Creative Walls and Spaces. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, professional and competent. It was a little tricky at first getting particulars on when to expect them to start, but when they did, they arrived promptly, worked reasonable hours, kept the area clean, and were responsive and respectful. It was very clear that they would not stop working until we were COMPLETELY satisfied. They did not have to redo anything because of unsatisfactory work, I just changed my mind about something, which they were happy to redo at no cost.
Description of Work: I responded to a Big Deal for plaster work, which was done to perfection. The ceilings and walls repaired look brand new--no small accomplishment on walls 90+ years old. Because I was pleased with the quality of the work and the person who did the work for us, I asked for a paint color recommendation to improve the appearance of a large room. They recommended a creative color solution for a problem room that turned out beautifully, and made additional recommendations that will further improve its appearance. Believe what Diana tells you! The painting went quickly and looks great. We wanted crown molding as well, which they selected and installed. The installation was problematic because of the age of the house (wall waviness and no right angles in sight), but it was done remarkably well. We are SO happy with the results.

Originally I bought the $99 special for 4 hours of plastering. Work needed to be done in some rooms and in the stairwell. I thought that the stairwell was more than 4 hours work. Contacted this company and explained this to them. We agreed that the $99 special could be added to a larger job (the stairwell). One of the owners, Tony, came out to estimate the job and said his wife (Diana) would call me that night and give me a price for the job. We agreed on a price of $560 in addition to the $99 I had already spent for a total of $660. I had reviewed their website and liked the pictures I saw and read the reviews given. Above are the job specifics. Here I would like to state that when I told Diana about the incomplete job she was apologetic and agreed to send them back to finish the job for which I already paid. Even after the return, it was not a 100% job(see above). Because I was having work done to one of the apartments, this was a way for me to decide which group would do the other apartment. I asked Tony what paint they would use to paint the hall and he said it was Benjamin Moore Regal. To me this was too expensive for a hall. Bottom line, I used the other people to finish the stairwell. They finished the plaster job and painted it also. I did end up using Behr which I had used in the apartment. I did email Diana again and she again offered to send people out. I did have the hall done by the other people and am definitely happier with their work. Since I am paying I want to get the best job for my money. The reason I am disappointed is after talking to both owners and reviewing their website, the work did not come up to their standards. Note: My error was to give the check before I saw the completed job. If you give a check, do not give a bank check cause it can cost to stop the check. A brokerage house may not charge you (mine would not).
Description of Work: The front stairwell of my 2 flat building needed work. There were cracks in the plaster throughout. Some walls were 14 feet high. There is 3 inches of wood work on each side of the walls about 4' up separating the plaster. Tony (one of the owners) estimated a 2 day job. Day 1 = One worker came the 1st day and Tony came later that day. All necessary equipment was brought. Day 2 = Two workers worked the second day. I had an appointment at 12:45 that afternoon and notified Diana, the owner, I was leaving early and would give the workers the check for the amount agreed upon ($560.00) not including the $99 special coupon bought a few months earlier. Returned later that afternoon after they were gone and reviewed the job. To my surprise the job was incomplete. I say this for the following reasons: 1) There were areas that were not plastered. I do not know how to plaster but I could see areas that were not touched. 2) The powder residue from sanding the walls was still on the wood wall molding. 3) On the 2nd day, they ran out of a box of dry plastering material. They asked the people working in my apartment if they had an extra box. They offered to pay them for the material but the others said no. If I was there, I would have said yes to paying because the material is about $20.00 and the $660 was now $680. I had already given the check. Told Diana about the above and she said there would be a followup to complete the job. The same 2 people came the following week and asked what needed to be done. Showed them what was not done. After about 2 hours they said they were done. I reviewed the work and said ok. Later I looked harder and noticed 3 small plaster blotches. I should have noticed this before telling them 'ok'.

We did considerably more work than we had originally been asked to do, or contracted for. The walls were literally crumbling and had not been attended to for years. The cracks that we came back to do the second time were not part of the original job. Because we strive for 100% satisfaction we did this work at no additional cost. Yes, we will come back to do additional work even if we have already been paid! That is the mark of a true professional so I am not sure what the complaint is. The fact that this person is stating that he had already paid us and that we happily came back to do additional work (even though it was not part of the original work) speaks volumes about our professionalism. We recommend Benjamin Moore paint and feel that it is the best value. However, if a customer does not want to spend the small additional cost for a superior paint product, we are happy to use the paint that they choose. When we sand plaster, small particles of dust can remain in the air for hours after the sanding is completed. We thoroughly cleaned the wood work before we left. The dust that he was complaining about fell from the air after we left. Even so, we gladly came back to clean the wood work again. This customer got more than he paid for and we did additional work at no charge. We strive for 100% satisfaction, but some people will never be happy no matter what you do.

My project started with a consultation with Diana to select colors for the master bath and bedroom. We decided on two colors for each room (one to accent the sofits, and the other as the primary wall color). The project started the following week as promised. Diana's team of painters came on-time every morning, setup plenty of drop clothes and plastic to cover my belongings, and performed their service with a high level of detail. I appreciated the level of experience of the painters, and could clearly see they do a great job both with preparation, painting and clean up. I would definitely use them in the future.
Description of Work: For my master bathroom and bedroom, they made minor wall repairs, primed the walls, and painted both the ceiling (white) and walls (two colors for each room).

Diana came out for a quote. She encouraged me to have decorative painting on our built-in dressers and to go beyond my basic white walls. Diana offered design advice on paint colors, furniture, room layout, window treatment, and provided vendor references. She stopped by on several occasions with poster boards of paint samples so I could visualize the colors in the rooms. The crew, including her husband Tony, started the day after the blizzard (which presented several logistical challenges). Tony and Andrew were a pleasure to work with. I could tell that Tony takes great pride in his work. Creative Walls and Spaces is the type of company that goes a giant step beyond your basic painting company.

Diana was very responsive and overall I was very happy with the end result. I appreciated the large color swatches she prepared and was able to make a decision based on these. I marked the price as "B" b/c the total charge including the supplies was $1200 for 3 days of work - I understand the supplies were more costly because it was special paint, but still was expensive - although happy with end result.

I am very glad that you are happy with the finished results. Faux painting is a lot of work, but it is less expensive and more durable than wall paper. It was three days work for 2 people plus 2 days work for an additional person plus hours and hours of preliminary work developing the techniques on color boards. When you add up all of that it really is not expensive for what you get. The most important part is that you end up with a custom finish for you walls that is developed exclusively for you.

I am a repeat customer of Creative Walls and Spaces. Diana was great to work with as we explored color choices and options. The painting crew was wonderful. Good natured, professional and always punctual and respectful of my home. They were great with my big dog Karma too. If you are looking for a painting company this is the one to choose. You won't be disappointed.

When Diana 1st came out I immediately felt that she was someone I could do business with ? as opposed to other painting resources I have contacted and/or used in the past, both at my home and that of my Mother-in-Law. She was clear that the core competency of her business was painting, but that she was pleased to offer other services such as Wallpaper Removal and Decorating Consultation as a bridge to painting contracts. I originally contacted Creative Walls & Spaces based upon Angie?s List standings, to quote a Wallpaper Removal job at my home. Her quote was competitive with others I received but I went with an alternate company at that time, which could do the work much sooner. I again called Diana and requested her color selection services, being clear at that time that I intended to do the painting myself (a decision primarily based again upon schedule). Talk about money well spent! My wife and I can usually work through any problem together with the notable exception of picking colors ? this usually results in us coming to loggerheads and all forward motion on the project coming to a halt. Not only did Diane pick colors we would have never thought of, but her direction for future decorating was just as enlightening. She returned with large sample of the recommended colors prepared on poster board, which could be taped to the walls and viewed in various lighting conditions and combinations. As the colors she selected were from a ?normal? Benjamin Moore pallet, I went and got the paint myself and did the job in the week that followed. We are elated with the colors selected, and have gotten rave reviews from friends and family who have visited since. We were extremely happy with Diana?s services and demeanor, and will call upon here again to do the complete job (as long as her quotes are close to competitive). We plan to use her soon at my Mother-in-Laws house. If the quality of the painters craftsmanship is anywhere near that of her own (and have reason to believe it will be), I am fully expecting it to be another delightful experience.

We used Diana's services about 3 years ago. I was going to paint the family room myself, but the job expanded greatly with a kitchen re-do. We liked Diana's recommendations on the last job so much that we called her for a quote to do this job. Once again she came up with fantastic color recommendations. Before they begin the work, Diana provides large color samples to hang on each wall so that you have a very good idea as to what the color will look like in different lighting. The work went amazingly well and fast. During the process of taking down the wallpaper in the kitchen, they discovered some moldy drywall. Instead of just priming over it, they went ahead and repaired the drywall. The complete job was done in about 2 1/2 days. Everyone at Creative Walls & Spaces is professional and true pleasure to do business with. All 3 rooms look great. If we have more painting to do in the future, Diana would be the first person I would call.

Diana came out to give me estimate and talk about colors. She was great and very responsive to my needs with any questions that I had. we had to wait about 4 weeks to have painting done. Worth the wait. 1st day was to remove wallpaper, 2nd day sand paper walls and spackle various areas. 3rd day paint They left the house in great shape after all the work. Nice guys and very good at what they do.
Description of Work: We had our living room and dining room repainted. First they had to remove wallpaper and then go from there. Had an estimate with another company and no comparison with service. This company is great.

We weren't looking for design assistance in this project and would have been happy with the one neutral color we had in our home. From the first moment Diana (the owner) stepped into our house she made her views clear that she would paint it that way if we wanted but she thought it was pretty boring and could show us some ways to make it pop while still keeping it to the more neutral colors we liked. We ended up selecting them based on her willingness to give us advice, their pricing and their references both individual ones that I called and the ones on Angie's List. The Good: * Pricing was 2nd best of all the 5 vendors who responded. Mainly driven by her proposal to give us an additional discount beyond Angie's List pricing for doing all the work consecutively. * Design expertise. She convinced us to put multiple colors in the house from the original off-white we had. She led us gradually away from neutral in the main rooms and got us to have some real color in the kids rooms, the powder rooms, some of the bathrooms and my office. The whole house looks vibrant after all the new color. * Willingness to accomodate: Tony (Diana's husband) and the painting crew supervisor was committed to making us happy - working around some guests we had visiting and identifying other things to do at no cost (e.g we had an exterior vent cover which had fallen off and he found it and suggested fixing it). * Deposit - Diana had initially put down a 50% deposit on start of work which I thought was excessive especially as most others were telling me that deposits had to be paid up front once we agreed on bid. Diana changed her deposit to be only 50% of each level prior to their start and I found out that their deposit isn't actually due until they actually start work. Areas to Improve on. * Cleanliness - We ran into problems with paint dripping into furniture and onto carpets and then ceiling plates and wall plates having paint on them. A lot of that was due to some inconsistency in their crew on appropriately protecting all the furniture and masking everything properly prior to painting. In addition, to above which they were able to clean promptly after I pointed it out, they had some problems with black marks getting on some of our drapes and painting dripping out of their trash bags onto our carpets. For the drapes, Diana had first indicated they would not be responsible for taking them up and down and after my request she had said okay but said they would not be responsible for damage. However once discovering black marks on the my daughter's drapes (appears to have come from the curtain rod), they took the drapes in to dry clean and fixed without my asking for. In the second situation where the paint had soaked into the berber carpet, they paid for a professional rug cleaning company to come in and fix everything. However if they have one area they should work on improving it is this - from protecting the furniture and masking all areas to vacuuming all the dust away every day. * Insurance - while they carried Business Insurance they didn't carry workman's comp which I was concerned about until they offered to sign a waiver indemnifying me for any claims made by their workers. We are very happy with the painting job now that they have been away from the job for a couple of months. Initially I was wondering if I had made a mistake because of the initial cleanliness issues (we were going away for 6 days and I was worried about leaving the house after the experience of the first few days of cleaning including that they had left the door unlocked when leaving during the 2nd day.). However after expressing my concern Diana and Tony did everything they could to keep us happy and unconcerned. The work took a lot longer than I had thought - they were painting in our house almost continously for almost 4 weeks. The whole job was more intrusive than I had thought and given it was summer we had to do something out of the house all the time. However this was not their fault and when we paint the whole house again, we will likely paint it during the school year so we won't be home most of the time. The price ended up being about $1200 higher than initially bid mainly because of additional paint costs coming from all the colors that Diana had convinced us to pick. An additional $400 was from repairing damage to the walls which were more extensive than could be seen initially. I would definitely pick them again though I would probably not have the whole house done simultaneously as we did this time.
Description of Work: I asked for a detailed proposal to paint our 3 story house both the interior and exterior. The exterior mainly consisted of a wrought iron fence, several metal and stone staircases and exterior doors. The interior was to do the walls, trim, windows, closets and ceilings. I had developed a request for proposal that put all the specifications on it in detail as several sites had suggested I do on the internet. I asked 4 bidders from Angie's List to bid plus a neighbor's recommendation and a selection from Costco. I asked for separate bids for the main level, the upper level, the lower level and the exterior as I wasn't sure I would do all the work continously. My RFP tried to break out the labor and material cost by level and tried to identify the hours required to do the prep work and hours required to do painting for primer, first coat and 2nd coat.
