Bart was very helpful from start to finish of our project. He worked closely with us to figure out a design that worked for the space and had great ideas that we hadn't thought of...and also was very flexible is working with us when we had new ideas. We were also pleased when Bart pointed out a couple of safety issues that needed to be addressed once work had begun, and addressed those for a reasonable cost. All of the work was done with a great attention to detail and his crews were always on time and professional. The end result is a basement that will work very well for our family for a long time. We will definitely use Bart and his team for any future needs!

Barts recently remodeled my basement and did an excellent job from start to finish. Bart, the owner, came to the house and we discussed my rough plan to partition a portion of the basement as a finished recreation room and leave the unfinished area as laundry room and storage. He provided many good suggestions and within several days sent a proposal with a breakdown of the work and cost estimate. Within a couple of weeks, the work started and progressed quickly through demolition, rough framing, electrical and HVAC, drywall, painting, flooring installation, and trim. The same competent crew performed a majority of the work with Bart often being on site to make sure the work was done properly. The crew arrived early each morning, were very thorough, good craftsmen, and very pleasant to work with. The work was done in about 3 weeks and on budget. There were no surprise expenses. At the end of each day, the crew swept and removed all debris, and at the end of the project, they performed a very thorough cleanup. Bart was easily reachable by phone or email and responded quickly whenever we had questions. At the end, the basement came out better than we had imagined. Overall, the project was a very good experience and I would highly recommend Barts for anyone planning a remodeling project.

Bart's team was amazing! We were very adamant about them being as 'unnoticed' as possible by our neighbors and community...and they did a great job with it. From the beginning when Bart kind of 'planned' the entire layout, we were very impressed. We had a hard time envisioning where everything would go, but he knew exactly what he was doing! His two main crew members were great to work with and were extremely respectful of our family and home. The were quick, yet didn't cut corners with anything. Communication with Bart was continuous throughout the process. We were overall very pleased and will hopefully be using them in the future!

This is the second large job we have done with Bart and could not be more pleased. We upgraded an older home in Edison Park and were so pleased with the outcome we used Bart for our own house. Bart is a perfect partner. He holds to his quotes, not afraid to speak his mind if he disagrees with our suggestion but also is flexible to our requests. He and his team show up when scheduled, do the job in workmanship manner, are polite and friendly and clean up at the end of each day. He and his team were on site for about 6 weeks and while the house was up for grabs it was always a pleasure to see them. As Andy (the on-site from Bart's team) said many times "Don't you worry", you know he is right!

Bart is the best contractor I have ever worked with. He had great design ideas. He listened to our suggestions and incorporated everything seamlessly. He was very responsive. More than once he stopped by on a Saturday or Sunday to answer questions for us. He was easy to contact via e-mail as well. The quality of the work was excellent. It went exceptionally well. From the beginning, Bart was responsive and fairly priced during the quote process as I had two other providers walk through the house and provide estimates. He was also very consultative in his approach, as I had numerous questions on suggested materials and design, He was flexible with me as we worked out a construction schedule that worked well for both of us. As work began, his crews were extremely professional and diligent, taking care to ask questions if the spec was unclear as well as cleaning up at the end of each day. Bart routinely stopped by to check on the progress of the project and he was easy to reach if I had on the spot questions. With the project complete, I'm very happy with the entire experience and the quality of the work. I would certainly use Bart again and would recommend him to others for similar projects.

Bart was great. He advised us about what the best option for our project would be. We decided to go with radiant floor heating and a brand new 95% efficient condensing boiler (instead of repairing the existing the baseboard radiators). We are thrilled with the work his guys did, all the neighbors want to stop by and see how much healthier and more efficient this form of heating is. Bart's plumber was also excellent, he showed up when Bart said he would and he took care of the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry and water connections outside. Bart made sure all this work was done on time. He is definitely not the cheapest but you will know for sure how your project is going and if there are any delays you will also know about ahead of time. Unfortunately the electrician was late a couple of times but we were aware of it because but had warned us. Bart also gave us a great warranty for the labor his guys performed which put our mind at ease.

We always have lots of questions. He responded right away to those by phone and email. When there was a problem with the vinyl coating on the floor, he had it completely redone. When there had been a misunderstanding with who was responsible for paying for an item, he took the cost. His workers are clean, quiet and friendly. He was willing to work with us to use a product that he had not used before, and did the ordering to be sure the measurements would be accurate. If our items had come when they were supposed to, the project would have been done within his projected timeline.

Bart and his crew were amazing!! They had to take over an unfinished remodel. I had to fire my previous contractor because of sub Standard performance. Bart was straightforward, professional, and empathetic towards my needs. His follow-up skills are impeccable. When he says he's going to do something he does it. He has a high level of integrity. His crew met the deadline that was originally laid out, bravo!That was a breath of fresh air based on my experience with my previous contractor. His crew work efficiently and exceeded my expectations. Bart save the day and put my faith back into contractors based on my previous horrible experience! Now I've got my house back with a beautiful new master bathroom and gorgeous tiled floors in my lower level. working with Bart was a very positive experience. We got bids with four different contractors that received excellent reviews on Angie's List (like Bart). Glad we decided on Bart. Bart was not the cheapest, but certainly in the ballpark and extremely fair. Quality of work was excellent. We were very happy with the results. Bart is very attentive. He showed up on site almost everyday and responded to e-mails in a very timely basis. Bart also was very helpful with suggestions for paint color, tile and carpet. Bart was very helpful along the way, making sure we knew what to expect from timing and cost. Bart's workers were courteous and cleaned up at the end of each day. Bart was very professional when it came to dealing with the billing and contract process. In summary, we are very happy with the result of our basement and would recommend Bart to anyone in the future.

Overall, our experience working with Bart was excellent, and we could not have liked the work done any better. We are 100% satisfied, and will unreservedly recommend Bart's Remodeling to anyone looking for basement work -- or other rehab work -- done on their home (and have already referred him 5 times)! First, you need to know that the quote you get from Bart's will probably not be the lowest bid you get. If that is what you are looking for, stop reading now and look elsewhere. You will, however, get what you pay for with Bart: excellent work/craftsmanship at a reasonable price, and a good crew to work with, all managed expertly by Bart. We originally contacted Bart in late August 2014, and he worked with us to craft a rehab plan to our liking and within our budget. The project began on Oct 20, and finished right on schedule in December, and then segued right into work on the main bathroom, which was completed in late January. Bart bent over backwards to make sure that our project stayed on schedule, and the only delays were on our side (e.g. waiting for materials). A bulleted list of the positives we experienced working with Bart's: We got a solid, accurate work estimate, which included allowances for decent (mid-grade) materials, which we could -- and did -- upgrade at our pleasure. Proposal /contract was very detailed, with a breakout of the cost for each phase of the project. Bart made good recommendations to us regarding design and materials, and did not push anything on us that we did not want. Bart also really understood what layouts would and would not work in our basement space. He will think of things you never would have, and keep you from pitfalls you do not see. The project stayed on schedule and on budget, and change orders were made when we made special requests. Bart stayed close to the project, visiting our house frequently (almost daily). Bart and his work crews always showed up in a timely manner, and some days they stayed a little later to finish up work. The work crews acted professionally at all times, were respectful of our house and yard, and cleaned up after themselves every day. Crews made sure to put up sheeting (as "dust curtains") and cloth on the floors to help protect the house interior. All work was done strictly to code. Bart made sure that we were completely satisfied with every phase of the project, and even accommodated special requests -- e.g., we had a block-glass window and a special split shower which required special installation. My wife was never treated in a condescending / patronizing manner (not a given with construction crews). Invoices clearly stated all work that had been done. The only negative experience during the entire project was an issue with the new shower in the main bathroom, which dripped/leaked when first installed. However, this was a minor inconvenience, and Bart's crew fixed this the next time they came to the house. Finally, I cannot say enough good things about how well this project went. We heard so many horror stories from friends about their basement and/or bathroom rehab experiences that we got gun-shy and waited well over a year to pull the trigger on doing this. And, wow, am I ever glad we wound up going with Bart's.

We liked Bart. He knew his schedule so there was no BS about doing it this day and then not showing up. In fact they did our basement in the exact time frame he said he would at the beginning. I think that is the biggest thing about contractors that always go wrong, even good ones, they can't manage their time and that didn't happen with Bart. These guys asked me how early they could start. I love that. Yeah sure you can start at 730am! Of course quality work matters and I think we had quality work too. Bart had thoughts about how to do it and suggested to me (us) to include when we working through our decisions. If we came across something that needed and additional amount of work (like insulation in the ceiling or raising the wall off the floor, or adding ductwork) then those were talked about and addressed. I can make decisions fast and Bart was able to implement them the next day. I would beware if you are on the fence about something and have to stew over it before deciding because his team wanted to keep working and a decision unmade slowed them down. Also on the positive side Bart would switch out products quickly if we didn't like what we were seeing (we changed paint, doors, and a slight design issue) it was not a big problem. I don't have any strong negatives and people tend to hone on the negative but if there is any I would say that one was communication. Bart's English is good but there is a missed meaning or intention in there from time to time. I chose to communicate via email most of the time to alleviate this. I'd hire them again.

Bart is really great to work with! At the beginning of our project, he brought in an architect to make drawings required by the village and they were able to carve out more usable space for us by way of a slightly wider hallway and a much larger closet. What a difference! We are also really happy all the awful paneling, drop ceiling and the red, white and blue kitchen that was in the basement when we bought the house and never used are gone! He replaced the water pipes original to the house and we have seen a huge improvement in the water pressure throughout. He upgraded the electrical box, insulated the walls and modernized the windows so now the basement feels warm and bright. Bart is very experienced and sensitive to working in an older home and worked us through the one or two unexpected conditions to make sure we were happy. We definitely hope to work with him again on some future projects.

Barts was recommended to us by a family friend and we also found his profile on Angie's List. Bart wasn't the cheapest, but his price was competitive. Throughout the entire process Bart was very professional. I was taken aback by how available he made himself and he afforded us a lot of flexibility with the project. We had some minor changes in plans and opted to keep our old stairs, and towards the end we had some problems with finding the right finishes, but Bart was more than happy to accommodate any changes. Since we were living in our home the duration of the remodeling I was very worried that the project would upset our daily lives, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Bart was very understanding, The workers he brought in were courteous and cleaned up daily. I never had any reservation about my staying home alone with the contractors. Having Bart and his team do the work gave me a lot of peace of mind.

I have never been through any project like this before, so I don?t have any baseline for comparison, but I have to say that Bart was outstanding by any objective measure. First, Bart was right-on for timeline to completion (3 months) ? he was a task master and organized ? there was not one gap of time in the work. Second, Bart stayed right on his quoted budget (which was right in the middle compared to others, btw), even though our project presented several complications. Third, Bart is committed to your satisfaction. As one will expect, we had several challenges with our project, and each step of the way, Bart offered his guidance and even when we had to struggle with tough decisions, he would do everything he could to do it right. A couple of examples of Bart going ?above and beyond? ? (1) early in the project, we mentioned to Bart that his workers going through our home to use the bathroom was disruptive for our nanny and kids ? the very next day, he had a porta-potty delivered to our home that remained for the next 3 months of the project; (2) shortly after the project was completed, we had a major rain storm and our electricity went out ? I had some trouble getting our back-up generator to power the sump pump ? Bart was at our house in 20 minutes helping fix the issue; (3) because our home is old and settled, the first floor plaster walls cracked a good bit from all of the foundation work ? at the end of the project, Bart?s team came through and repaired and repainted all the cracks, good as new. The list is long, believe me ? we worked with Bart all summer ? my little kids have asked us if he can come to babysit. Doing a project this large and significant is a huge investment and requires a lot of trust in the person you are hiring ? I can say that I am comfortable recommending Bart to anyone as being worthy of your trust when you?re undertaking a major home renovation project. We have a few more significant projects in our future, and I most certainly plan to use Bart again, which is really the best recommendation I can give.

Bart and his team are absolutely fantastic! I've worked with contractors in the past on various projects and NEVER have I worked with a GC that was so responsive to questions or concerns. Their work is impeccable which is a rarity in today's remodeling business. The people he brought in to do the foundation repairs, electrical and plumbing were highly skilled craftsmen in their respective fields. They all took everything to the next level. There were no shortcuts taken and I'm very picky and have a good working knowledge of how things should be done. I was 100% impressed with their eye for detail and not cutting corners to do it the "easy" way. They spent 7 weeks in our home. My wife and I had full trust in his employees to leave them alone in our house. I even gave them a remote control to our garage so they could come and go as necessary. They were 100% respectful, clean and fun to interact with. They cleaned up every single night before going home. I was billed in 4 installments with the last one due upon completion and a walk through of the finished basement. Bart has earned my business for future projects next year (new porch and a bathroom gut remodel). I might add that I chose Bart not because of his bid (not the lowest and not the highest) but because of his eye for detail and some of the suggestions he made during the bidding process.

Very smooth process from start to finish. Bart accommodated our preference to complete the work with a city-required permit, despite the added hassles it entailed. Work was completed to my satisfaction down to the last details and the cost was reasonable, and as stated in the estimate. Would recommend highly.

Very satisfied! Bart is a professional who aims to please. For every meeting Bart was either on time or early. His men were very professional and caring. They were not only on time every day, but took care to protect the floors of the house and cleaned up carefully before they left. Bart's team did the ruffing, sheetrock, tape/spackle and paint. The electrician was well coordinated as well. They installed in-wall speakers and the TV as well. They also installed the flooring professionally. Everything done was neat and clean by the time the crew left every day. Bart made some design recommendations in the planning phase; it was clear he wanted to complete the job to the customer's needs. I would definitely use his services again.

It went great, Bart took care of everything from delivery of all the fixtures to repair of plumbing issues and building new bathroom for us. We love it :)

I couldn't be happier with my new basement and the work Bart provided. We interviewed about 5 or 6 contractors before choosing a contractor, and liked Bart's estimate the best, as well as his ideas and general demeanor. He was VERY easy to work with - we didn't have to deal with buying any of the supplies (some other contractors would have required this) and was flexible about whether we got a permit or not (we did want to get one - although I see now why people avoid it). Plus he worked very hard to save us money where we could - he fought our village to keep us from having to make silly adjustments that would have cost us a lot of money. His initial timeframe was 2 weeks from signing the contract and 3-4 weeks from that point to finish. It ended up being almost exactly that timeframe, with just a couple of days lost due to inspections and slow drying walls. His initial estimate was $27,000, and it was only slightly over that. All of the sub-contractors were punctual and polite - no issues with any of them. And they worked long hours to get the job done - some nights staying until after 7pm. Bart was here every day, and ran everything very efficiently. He had a great eye for what looked good and always gave great advice. I had an idea of what I wanted, but not always the exact details, but he helped me make many decisions and I love how it turned out. The one time something wasn't as I expected based on our discussions, he had it fixed the next business day with no extra charge to me. I would recommend Bart to anyone. I had never worked with a contractor but it greatly exceeded my expectations. You would not regret it.

We recently purchased new house and we were looking to update basement that involved electrical, drywall, plumbing, tile and flooring. We first hired Bart's Remodeling and Construction after interviewing over 20 contractors. Our decision was based on reviewing their previous work completed, our interactions and meetings with Bart, and price of project. We hired Bart's Remodeling for a 2nd story addition; we wanted to add a 2nd story to our ranch style house with 3 new bedrooms and additional bathroom as well as new flooring and walls on our lower level. We had never done a remodeling project previously, and Bart helped us through every step of the process from helping us choose materials to showing us what all of our options were for the project. Bart was very responsive and we were in constant contact about every decision. Bart helped us to stay within our budget, and the entire project was completed within the time frame we had discussed. The quality of work was exceptional and we are extremely happy with the finished project. All of our neighbors have positive comments and ask who our contractor was. We were so happy with the outcome of the project and home owner - contractor relationship that we used Bart's Remodeling for our next project which was converting our sunroom to a dining room, as well as a kitchen remodel that we just completed. Our 2nd and 3rd remodel projects went just as great as the first and we plan to work with Bart on all future remodel projects as well. The service was scheduled 2 weeks prior start date and I liked the transparency of it. There were no hidden costs or additional services charged during the project I am mentioning that because I have experienced some issues with other companies providing home services. Bart has a great management skill although he seem to be busy on daily basis. I guess that they have lots of polish emplyoees ,The workers came with all the tools and equipment (some of it I didn't know how to use). He did some brilliant work around our basement and we were very satisfied.

Bart come over to our house and he was able to provide a ball park project cost on the first meeting Bart the general manager and his team were very professional, efficient, performed all the task required and finished the job as planned. I was impressed, they started working in the am and did not stop until job was completed, they did a thought job of clean up and explained in detail what the job entailed as we went through the process. We would recommend this company based on this team of workers.

I cannot recommend Barts Remodeling highly enough. They are, without fail in my experience, courteous, knowledgeable reasonably priced (not the cheapest but you always get what you pay for) and incredibly capable. I first came across google and then i checked all the reviews on angies list website and they came and did a very professional job of servicing the ancient (25+ years old basement we had inherited from the previous owners of our house. Since then I have used Bart's service to remove a all the walls, electrical, structural part , as well as remove the old bathroom and fit our new bathroom and wet bar. . Their standard of work is incredibly high, they work efficiently to correctly diagnose problems and provide workable solutions, and they are a pleasure to work with.
