It was a pleasure to work with Bart! His team was prompt, professional and got the jobs done according to the budget and timeline laid out at the beginning of the project. We have a house that was built in 1888, and the bathrooms were at least 20yrs old. The upstairs was completely redone with a new layout, a stand-alone shower was installed, a free-standing tub and a new double vanity and toilet. The plumbing and HVAC had to be completely rerouted, and new lights were installed as well. The downstairs bathroom was more cosmetic, and the layout for fixtures did not have to be completely changed. Bart was able to translate our vision for how we wanted the design and aesthetic for the bathrooms into reality, and we couldn't imaging a better outcome. We had a lot of fun picking out our fixtures, and Bart gave us just the right about of guidance for tile choices and layout, paint, and other design elements. They have exceeded our expectations, overall we couldn't be happier!

Bart remodeled both of our bathrooms a few years ago, so when the time came to finish our basement, we were very happy he was available for this project too. We could not be happier with the results! The basement is comfortable, functional and seems to have been always part of our living space. Bart worked with us to install a new staircase from the kitchen to the basement that efficiently used the area, (prior access had only been from the mudroom at the back), and to put a large bedroom, a playroom/family room, a bathroom and a mechanical room downstairs, which includes generous storage. They installed a Murphy Bed for us too, which was a nice touch. In addition to the quality of work, we appreciated Bart himself stopping by to check on progress and the ease of communication via text, phone or email. If there ever was a delay with permits, inclement weather, we oftentimes heard from Bart directly which was very nice. We will certainly use Barts Remodeling in the future, he has our highest recommendation!

My opinion is very positive of both the end result as well as the process (equally as important when taking on home renovation projects since by nature they tend to add stress to one's life). Bart's involvement is constant and his attention to detail was more than appreciated. His team in the office kept things moving forward and on track while the guys at the house were respectful, clean and efficient. I refer Bart as often as possible to friends and will definitely use him again in the future.

Bart was very professional in all his dealings with us. He came out to see our basement and gave us a prompt estimate. He worked with us to keep the project within our budget. We contacted Bart in May about waterproofing and refinishing the basement. He asked when we wanted to start and we said by August. His crew was able to do all of the work except stain the concrete floor--we contracted separately for that. Bart's crew was professional, on time, and clean, and the work progressed smoothly. It took 6-8 weeks and looked great when finished. A couple of months after the work was completed, we thought that water was seeping in the wall behind the furnace and called Bart; his plumber came immediately and showed us the source of the water, which had nothing to do with Bart's work. Bart is very professional, charming and responsive; we would definitely use him again!

Overall, Bart and his team demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism, punctuality, responsiveness and integrity. Finishing our basement with them was an excellent experience that we will never forget. You feel that you work with friends not just a company. I will definitely recommend them for anyone. We are very very pleased with our new living space!

In the spring of 2016, my husband and I fell in love with a Lincoln Park two-flat that we wanted to convert to a single family home. Our only experience with home remodeling was watching HGTV, so we were definitely scared to take on a gut rehab. After receiving a referral from our realtor, we contacted Bart’s Remodeling. Bart came out the very next day (on a Sunday!) to walk the house and give us a ballpark estimate of the renovation costs. From the moment we met Bart, we could tell he was very knowledgeable about the City of Chicago permit process as well as current design trends in Lincoln Park. As unusual as it sounds, we had a great feeling about Bart and trusted him from the beginning. Somehow we just knew that he would take care of our home and renovation like it was his own. Bart told us our renovation would cost approximately $225K and take 6+months to complete. While this timeline was much longer than anything we had seen on HGTV’s Property Brothers, he explained that the major milestones in the project were dependent on the City of Chicago permit process. As a salesperson, I respected his “under promise/over deliver” mentality. Overall, the construction process went smoother than expected. Our original budget remained intact except for some upgrades we chose to add on. Bart and his crew were friendly and considerate to us and our neighbors throughout the process. The very best part about working with Bart is his responsiveness and honesty. He is always available by phone, text, or email and is willing to meet in person to discuss details when needed. He lets you make the design choices, but is always available to provide a “gut check” and will definitely let you know if he questions your design decisions. As he told us multiple times “your home is a billboard for my business,” so he wanted everything to look perfect! We moved into our Dream Home four and a half months after our closing date, and have Bart and his crew to thank. We would recommend Bart’s Remodeling to anyone looking to get high quality renovations from a contractor and crew you can trust.

We needed a complete remodel of a master bathroom which only had a single sink, a large soaking bathtub and no shower. Our old bathroom had a difficult layout but Bart immediately had good ideas on how to make it better. He installed a double sink, moved the toilet to a better location, installed a shower and a new bathtub. We could not be more pleased with the work performed. From the start, Bart is great to work with, always available to answer any questions and his pricing is very sharp. His crew shows up on time every day, they are very professional, tidy and fun to work with. Overall the work performed looks great, we are very happy and would recommend Bart to anyone looking to do a remodel.

Fantastic! They did an amazing job and we are enjoying our new basement everyday. We had 5 contractors come out. Bart's team was straight to the point and did not attempt overcharge us like some of the other companies out there. Their price was fair and their work was great!

Bart came by, listened to what I was thinking regarding my kitchen remodel. He then informed me that the offer I purchased didn't apply. He however continued to discuss ideas, even recommended a different option to help open up my first floor even more. I found him very helpful, willing to work with me on what I was looking to do, seemed very knowledgeable with regards to what was 'feasible' given my current home's layout. the next day his team contacted me regarding the refund of my previously purchased offer which I received from Angie's list super quickly.

All phases of project went very well and in a timely manner. Bart and Andy were great about providing suggestions and advising on improvements of my vision. Communication with me and providing information to make decisions was very, very good. I must say it was the best possible clear communication and guidance that I could have possibly imagined. It was like working with friends and not a company. Bart made visits every 3-4 days and arrived within hours when there was an issue to resolve. The workmanship was second to none, All walls are squared and even and smooth. Edges are perfect. Painting was excellent with multiple coats on the trim so it pops. If there were any issues that I discovered were not as hoped, Bart and his team made the changes to my satisfaction. I knew the project would work well as Andy would tell me whatever you want is what we want because we want you to be happy. Now just so you do not think I am a friend or relative of Bart after this glowing review, I am not. I found him by searching for A grade contractors and awarded him the job after his visit and detailed proposal. He was very professional and responsive to my questions and concerns which I was looking for. I did not want to have to hope my expectations were met because they were outlined and easily monitored via the detail proposal. Even when I had second thoughts on a vanity or light fixture as the project progressed, Andy and Bart would give me time to rethink and change my mind or a plumbing fixture if necessary. Lastly, I would also like to compliment the office coordinator, Adrian, for his clear and courteous communication. I procrastinated to start this project but would do another one without even hesitating with Bart and his Team.

Bart and his team did a great job with our project. Bart was personally involved throughout making sure that our project stayed on schedule, that we always knew when we had to make a decision, and that we were happy with the progress every step of the way. Bart delivered the quality materials specified in his quote, did not pressure us for any upgrades or add-ons, and happily and professionally accommodated the changes and add-ons we requested at a reasonable cost with little or no impact to the schedule. His crew was on time every day, kept us informed of their schedule, was easy to work with even when changes and refinements were being requested, and produced high quality results that they were obviously proud of. The project was completed on time with minimal punch list items that were addressed quickly. We are so thrilled with the results and our experience working with Bart's Remodeling & Construction from beginning to end that he will be the first call we make when it comes time to do our next remodeling project!

They did a great job! The deck looks excellent, the new windows, doors and insulation should really help prevent drafts and we're very happy with the results. We did have a few unexpected runs to the paint store and hardware store that we would have gotten out of the way earlier if we'd known about them ahead of time, but the job was fast and the quality is great.

Although the estimate for work was not the lowest, we chose to work with Bart because of his professionalism and care for our project. We do not have a garage, so we needed to maximize the storage space in the basement. Bart provided ideas and suggestions to make our space most efficient. The work was done with excellent care. Before they left for the day, the tools were zipped back into their bags, the floor was swept, and trash was taken out. Our space was kept extremely clean throughout the process. When we had a concern or question, Bart was available to talk through it with us immediately and even came before the work started in the morning to check in with us. He was very attentive. We also appreciated how Bart spelled out the allowances for materials from the beginning. From that, we were able to get the entire price for the work up front (other companies did not specify the approximate cost of the sink, toilet, fixtures, etc. in the initial estimate). The office kept careful track of invoices and receipts to keep us updated on the costs. The work was finished ahead of schedule and it looks great! When we were given the list to note any corrections or places we would like fixed before the project was officially complete, we only had one minor issue that was solved that same day. The detail in the tile, the painting, the fixtures, the carpet were all perfect! He gave us a budget for materials and we were able to shop within that budget to select the finishes we wanted. What we really appreciated was how Bart set this budget within our total estimate so we were able to get the entire scope of the cost right away (other companies did not give us a budget estimate from the start for tile, toilet, etc). Since we do not have a garage, we truly needed to maximize the storage space in our basement. Bart had great ideas for adding closets and making the small space functional for us. When the work started, the crew was punctual and cleaned up each day after work. Their tools were back in the zipped bags, the floor was swept, trash was taken out, and materials were neatly stacked when they left for the day. As it progressed, the questions we had were immediately addressed. Bart even came personally before the work started to meet with us and clarify an issue. He was extremely open to our ideas and truly did want to make sure we were satisfied. The old construction that was previously in the space was updated and cleaned up to be up to code. Tile patterns were even drawn on the wall in the shower to be sure it was placed where we wanted. The project was finished about 2 weeks ahead of their original timeline and it looks incredible!! Everything from the shower to the paint is done with nothing but excellence. We were able to submit a list of things we wanted fixed and only had one very minor item in the entire basement that was fixed immediately. We spend so much time now in our basement and can't believe we have lived so long without it finished. Trusting Bart with this big investment in our home was a wonderful decision. We knew that Bart's team had our best interests in mind and wanted the basement to be as wonderful as we did! We will be using Bart's Remodeling & Construction for future projects in our home and highly recommend this team to anyone.

Bart and his team were very reliable and professional throughout the process. We encountered a few delays with local permits, especially internal sprinkler work, but it worked out. We are very happy with the end product!

If you want a quality job at a fair price along with courteous and dependable service, then Bart is your guy. We originally found Bart on Angie's list while in the process of house hunting, knowing that we may need to do upgrades. Once we found the house, we were fortunate to get a positive referral of Bart from a work colleague. Before any agreement was signed, Bart reviewed the building inspector?s notes and gave us an estimate which we used to negotiate the purchase price. We closed on the house in late June and even though Bart had multiple jobs in process, he fit us into his schedule. The only schedule disruptions and delays were due to all the Village inspections and permit requirements. Bart is very responsive to any and all questions. He answers both his emails and phone messages in a very timely fashion. When issues came up, he always worked with us to resolve them. Bart also instructed his vendors to allow us to buy material and fixtures (which he picked up and delivered) at his contractor discount. He is very committed to getting things right. It?s rare to find someone that is so trustworthy. Absolutely would work with Bart again and highly recommend him.

It went really, really well...so well that we have already referred multiple other people to Bart's company! Bart had come over to our house two years ago when we initially looked into renovating our basement. At the time, we had three contractors in and Bart stood out primarily because 1) of his price and 2) while we had some ideas about what we wanted to do, he wasn't afraid to offer his suggestions. My wife and I both liked him and while we put the project on hold at the time, we said to ourselves that we would absolutely circle back with him when the time was right. Fast forward to this past summer (2015), we decided that we wanted to get a lot of work done. We ended up renovating the basement (down to the studs) and we also ended up re-doing our kitchen (down to the studs, but no major plumbing/piping changes) as well as a small reconfiguration in our master bedroom and bathroom. Bart and his partner, Adrian, were very easy to work with and did an awesome job of explaining everything that would need to take place and when they would take place. This was very important for my wife and I because we had just come off of a terrible experience with another general contractor that we used for another project on the house. Bart was very clear about the scope of the projects and the timelines. My wife and I both thought the timelines would be tough to stick to, but Bart and his team did it! They were very open and communicated everything to us as things were progressing. Specifically, one his teammates, Andrew, was a pleasure to work with. He is very talented in multiple facets and was in a great mood just about every day. When issues did come up, Andrew kept his cool and figured out solutions for any change the project threw at him. We can't say enough good things about Bart's Remodeling! My basement flooded in early July. We had a flood restoration company that gutted the walls and dried out the basement. With insurance money for repairs I decided it was a great time to update my basement. I found Barts Remodeling on Angie's List. I exchanged emails with his office manager and he arranged a meeting with Bart. Bart came out to my house and did a quick survey of the work. Bart suggested to make sure to pull all necessary permits for the repair and updates to the basements. I learned that my city was very particular and picky when it comes to work. Bart arranged for an architect to make plans and Bart's team applied for all the permits. Within a few weeks I received a call saying that he had the permits in his office and that we would be able to begin work soon. Each day we had workers at my home working to make the plans a reality. Work progressed quickly and I was surprised by how much was done in relatively little time. The inspections delayed the project by a few days, but everything was still done in a timely manner and I know that Bart was working hard to ensure that the city would expedite the inspections. Overall, I am very satisfied and I have no worries to recommend Bart and his team to friends.
