At first I found them easy to work with but as the date to perform the work got close it was a true challenge. They moved the date several times, did not communicate well, and 100% of the time I had to call them to find out the plan. We took off work to be there and the work date changed even on the scheduled day so we wasted days off. On the removal portion they told me I have a soft spot of clay and charged me an extra $450 to remove and replace otherwise it would crack quickly. Then upon replacement the date again moved. I had to ask them to re-level the drive due to settling and driving on it between removal and replacement. The guys that actually put the driveway in did an awesome job. They kept me informed, seemed to take pride in their work, and were super friendly. I don't know how long it will last since I just had it done so time will tell.

Contractor performed high quality work, as scheduled. Also, they offered $100 off for being an Angie's list member. I would use them again.

Good very good. They refilled the driveway and a sink hole in the drive way. Their price was comparable, and they did good quality work. They did get a little bit of the filling on the garage doors and they did rectify the situation but it did take some time for us to go and debate with them about getting that fixed.

Great service, including the office. Incredibly responsive, and even accompanied me to the city building department when my permit was rejected the first time. Always polite and patient with my questions. And the driveway looks great!

They reviewed a number of different options, steering us to the best tradeoff in cost and materials given our needs. We went of a blacktop driveway with brick edging. The finished product looked great, and the brick edging really gave it a special touch. They completed the work in only three days, including getting the village inspectors out to survey the work. I would recommend them to anyone. (Edited to add: the bricks began to separate after 6 months, but they came out and relaid them at no cost to us. Excellent service!)

I found Total Paving to be professional and responsive. They kept me informed of the progress and what to expect in the upcoming steps. Even when we ran into a little issue (which was not their fault) which required an adjustment before the base was approved, they took action the very next day and accomplished the fix and kept the project on schedule. Each person I spoke with was polite and helpful. During the estimate process they made recommendation that I had not thought of which made the finished project nicer.

Communication could have been better. Total Paving likes to email a lot instead of calling the customer. I was surprised via email when I found out they were moving the pour date of the asphalt up a couple of days as originally scheduled. I would have appreciated a phone call if they were changing the schedule. On the tear out of the original driveway, the salesperson called me to tell me the job was going to cost an additional $600 due to having to excavate more than expected because the existing base wasn't deep enough. The salesperson said they had to dig out 20 yards of old material and replace with 20 yards of new material. $300 per truckload to haul away and he said they'd need 2 truckloads. Due to this unexpected expense, I had to cancel the pavers from the street to my walkway as originally planned. Very disappointing. Overall, I would recommend Total Paving because the work they did was excellent. Just beware that there might be extra charges along the way if they find something that isn't quite right. I understand that happens with any type of construction or remodeling types of jobs, but I think the price for this add-on was very expensive.

Flawless... Total Paving was outstanding throughout the entire process from the initial estimate to the completion of the job. They were very professional and efficient in the execution of the job which spanned over 4 days. The first team arrived on day 1 on time to excavate and prep the base of the driveway. Day 2 was the base inspection from my Village. On day 3, another team arrived on time and laid the cement. And the next morning, a third team removed the wood forms, cleaned up any cement remnants, back-filled the excavated areas with seed and dirt and then applied the sealer. Could not be more pleased with the outcome and how smoothly it went.

Total paving gave me a very competitive price and completed the project ahead of schedule. Both the brickwork and driveway were very professional done and exceeded my expectations. I recommend this company.

Fantastic experience right from the start. Starting with a phone call, very knowledgeable and polite. Answered my questions and set up an estimate appointment. Oscar came, was also kind, and explained very easily ( I got a few quotes and explanations, believe me, not all easy to follow ) what needed to be done and gave me options. Quote was comparable, but with an added inch of asphalt. walked me through the process of permits and a timeline of what to expect, (not all done on the same day). Work was on time, so well done. My husband and I literally remark on the driveway driving in, and driving out. Smooth. They have a customer for life.

I received three or four quotes and I thought they were all astronomical. Their quote was about $500 higher than other estimates. They were nice people though; the bottom line is you get what you pay for sometimes. Truthfully, they seemed like really nice people. I know we went back to them and even told them the other companies we had gotten quotes from and that they were out of the ballpark and there was not much that was offered thereafter, which surprised me. They were pretty quick to get back to us (with a quote). I am pretty sure they were on time.

Communication was excellent. We were informed as to what to expect and when. They coordinated well with the Village of Gurnee for the inspections, one of which was after the new base layer was placed, so that there were no delays. The finished result is excellent. They responded promptly to emails. No surprises.

Quality of work was excellent. Every representative was professional; from sales, to demolition, to concrete to asphalt installation. They worked with the township because my street was being repaved at the same time, and it was well coordinated and provided a seamless drive. There were some issues between communication with the crews and the office, but that was cleared up quickly and easily. Lots of rain, but job was done as soon as appropriate. Price may have been little higher than other quotes, but I felt confident with the responsiveness of the company, their previous reviews, and their desire to understand and provide what I wanted. I would definitely rehire, and have recommended to my neighbors that are inquiring about the same services.

Weather and other jobs caused delays in getting started. Job was completed in 3 days including additional requirements that were not taken into account in the initial bid. Very happy with end results and have recommended co. to neighbors.

I only got a quote for resurfacing the driveway for $2,400 from Oscar. However this was about the same price I was getting for a full replacement from other vendors. When I asked about this, he told me their minimum was $2,400, but to do a replacement, the total would be $2,500 (without apron) - still the highest of the bunch, but just a poor way of doing business. If replacement was the same price, why quote resurfacing other than to be a shady business.
