ALLIED WASTE

They do come twice a week and pick up our garbage but their costs for this service is too high for a small condo association.

My organization contracted with Allied (now called Republic) in 1995. We signed an 3-year auto-renewing contract in which rates were to be indexed to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The monthly rate on the 1995 contract was $64. In Sept 2010 we switched from weekly to bi-weekly pickup, which dropped our rate from $204 to $106. From then to now, the rate has increased by an average of 24%/year: Allied, bi-weekly, 1 yard: Sept 2010: $106 Sept 2014: $250 We obtained these other quotes, which come with fixed rates for a time and then increase at a capped rate of 4-5%/year: Waste Management, weekly, 1 yard: $65 Flood Brothers, weekly, 1 yard: $60 Allied's counteroffer: $180! I have written to cancel service, and they claim they are "not able" to terminate service at this time. I believe they are going to claim we are bound by contract until some future year. At a minimum I believe they have violated the contract by increasing prices faster than the CPI. I fear I may need legal advice to deal with this. They are already an F, and things may still get worse.
