Quote process went as usual. Their quote was right in line with all the other quotes I got. Their quote did include a bottom tension line which was a nice extra. Once I ok'd the quote it took them a while to get back to me but once they did they were there the very next day. Good installation crew that was very professional. Job well done.
Description of Work: Installed approximately 100 feet of chain link fence and 2 gates.

Horrible! I would never use Home Depot in South Elgin for anything again. I went in and set up an appointment to someone come out and measure for blinds in my new home. The kid was so busy trying to flirt with me that I later found out after not being called by the measuring company that when he input the order, he entered it as completed instead of new. I found this out after I waited 2 days (initial visit to HD was on Saturday) called HD, they were fixing it, and then I finally went into the store when I hadn't heard back and spoke to an actual adult. After that the company came out and measured. 2 days later I went back to HD to pick out my blinds. The same kid was working and unfortunately assisted me. I chose all my blinds (17 sets). He asked when I needed them, and I said as soon as possible, he said he would have to cut them all himself and he had a weird schedule this week. He said they would be done on Wednesday. On Wednesday I called HD, and low and behold, the kid never even entered the blinds that I chose, let alone pulled them or started cutting them. After speaking to the store manager (who sounded like another kid) I was transfered to a girl Christine who had corrected the original problem of the incorrectly inputted order. She took my blind order over the phone and then began pulling them and cutting. I went to HD on Friday afternoon to pick up the blinds. I was assisted by an arrogant man who was more of a hinderance than a help in loading the blinds in my truck and asked if I could put the other side of my backseat down; I told him that I didnt think my 3 year old son who was sitting in his carseat at the time would appreciate that very much. He then told me that he hoped I had someone at home to help me unload (because apparently he had been such a HUGE help in loading them...NOT!). HD sent me home with no paperwork, nothing showing what I had picked up. When I got home...I found that HD had given me the WRONG vertical blinds, they hadnt even been cut. I called HD again, spoke with the kid manager again....then got to talk to an adult in blinds who took down the correct blinds that I should have received and said he would call back. I got a call back that evening from the very same kid who had caused all the previous trouble who started the phone conversation with "This is ___ from HD, please dont yell at me". Very professional! He said they didnt have the blinds that I had picked out and he would have to go pick them up at another HD and they would be in the next morning (Saturday) at 10:30. Then when my kids started screaming in the background he insisted on telling me how much fun he would have playing with them...creepy! The next day, I received 3 calls from HD with no messages. Finally on the 4th call I answered, it was the same kid from HD telling me the blinds were in, ever heard of leaving a message?? I sent my husband in to HD that day to pick up the blinds and give them back the incorrect ones. I was told I would hear from the installation company on Saturday. That did not happen. I finally called HD on Tuesday (this morning) and was told that the company would call me today. They did, and of course cannot do the install for another week. So in total this process will have taken a month with using in-stock off the shelf blinds. I have had to go into HD 4 times, and call them I dont know how many times. It was not worth the annoyance of dealing with kids at this type of store. It is like they have never done a blind install order before. Yes, it would have been a pain to install 17 windows worth of blinds, but I could have had it done by myself long ago and without all this extra stress of dealing with people who dont know how to do their jobs. Do not use HD for blinds installation...it isnt worth it and it will take far too long. I cant imagine how long this would have taken had I actually done special order blinds. HD is disorganized and the manager Mike at the South Elgin location is useless and sounds literally like he is a high school kid and that is his part time job. I will not be using that HD for anything further.
Description of Work: The South Elgin Home Depot set up the appointment for measurements for blinds in my new home, provided the blinds, and set up the install appointment.

Things were easy to find and the pricing was good. However, the customer service needs a little work. At the front area and cash register, the people were very friendly, but couple of customer service reps that were walking through the store weren't as friendly or weren't trying to understand my needs.

The equipment that we rented from Home Depot was in good working order. The person that waited on us was very prompt, he had a very good sense of humor which is a very fun thing, he explained to us how to run the machine and he also told us what not to do which in this case is very good information. It was a very good experience.

The things went very well. We are happy. The door that was delivered came from the manufacture and it had a problem. They are remedying it. Their installation was very good. The price wasn't the lowest, but it wasn't the cheapest. The sales person there is an interior designer. She was able to help us picture what it was going to look like because we had a very hard time making a choice between the wood and vinyl. She was very good about helping us make a choice. They were here when they said. They did what they said. They explained all the way through and they cleaned everything up very nicely. It was very nice. It was a good experience.

Very happy with the measuring and installation company Home Depot contracts out to. Not as happy with the Home Depot end of things due to careless mistakes made when quoting price and slowness. While still in Home Depots hands, the whole process takes longer than they lead you to believe that it will take. We started the process Sept 4th and the soonest they planned to have the carpet in was Sept 15th, and that was with us doing everything on our end asap; we were trying to get it installed before new tenants moved in. Based on our initial conversation with the Home Depot carpet guy, we thought it would be installed in a matter of days, given that the carpet was in stock in the store. They didn't tell us that it takes several days to get a measuring appointment, then a couple days to get the official quote based on the official measurement, and then several days to get an installation appointment once you pay for the carpet. Also, both quotes we got from the Home Depot employess were wrong (one in online chat and one in the store), to low by a few hundred dollars, due to errors on their end such as not including old carpet rip out in the quote even though they asked if we wanted it and we said yes. Noticed later that it actually says something on the intial pre-measurement Home Depot quote paperwork like,"this isn't a real quote, this is just to give you a ballpark of price". Had they used the right information and the exact room dimensions I gave them there was no reason why they couldn't have come up with the actual price; I have to wonder if they normally "forget" things so you go with them thinking they are the lowest price, and then find out the real price once you've got $35 and several days in by paying for measuring (which you have to do) and then finding out the real price. The initial HD quotes are not itemized so you can't see if they "forgot" to include something. However, the measuring company was on time, the installation company was on time and they were even able to move up our installation by a day from the initial plan so that it could be done before the tenants were moving in, the installers were good, cleaned up after themselves, professional, and on time.

They brought their contractors who were superior vendor to come in and they brought extra people to double check the floor. They put in a beautiful floating hardwood floor. They brought in their own vendors. Their vendors were excellent. They did and left in two days. I was able to move on time because of them. I highly recommend them. They were brilliant.

They were okay except for the people that they send out to do the actual bid and for measuring it up and so forth. I did not feel comfortable going with them. They were just not in line with the price. When you go to home depot they work up some information that turns it over to a third party as well. The third party came out and I just didn't feel comfortable with them. When you want to have your kitchen done you look for price and quality. Home Depot is okay but they were contracting out for the work to be done which I felt uncomfortable with them.

The sales process was horrible. We wanted to replace our patio doors and one set of windows that were directly above one of the sets of doors. This made the entire process difficult because Home Depot has two different sets of installers. They have their standard installers who are contracted for a particular job. They also have their At Home Services team. I've always had good experiences with their contractors, but the At Home Services team is more worried about selling than doing anything else. In this case, the contractors can do the Patio Doors, but not the windows, so they tried pushing me to the At Home Services team. To make a very long story short, I ended up throwing the At Home Services sales person out of my house when I caught him lying about the warranty that Home Depot would provide. Frankly, I probably would have walked away from Home Depot all together after that disaster, but I had gift cards that were going to cover half the price of the project, so I wanted to use them. So, after messing around trying to get to a formal quote with the two different install teams at Home Depot (a process that took about 3 months), I ended up just getting the patio doors and decided to wait on the windows. Since we were then back to a standard install for Home Depot's external contractors, everything went well. The team they sent out was very nice, did a very good job on the installation and did a great job on the clean up.

They sent someone out to do all of the measurements. I had soffits pulled out and cabinets installed. I had a pantry pulled out so they would double my storage space. They went with me to pick out what kind of handles and nobs I wanted. I found it a very easy process. They sent me a finalized plan and layout. I had to check them to approve. The company that did the work as a subcontractor was Kitchen Works of Aurora. It all turned out very fine. I am still very happy with my kitchen. Every time my friends come over they tell me how much they like it.

This was a nightmare. After telling the salesman it was a rush, I was not told that my choice was a special order. I told him I would need some furniture moved. Two days after the measurements were taken, I was told they hadn't received them-though I had watched them electronically sent 2 days earlier. It took 2 weeks for the carpeting to arrive. We moved all the furniture out of the living room, on Saturday. Monday night, (one week after they received it)they told me the carpeting was 9 feet short. I demanded that they install 3 rooms. Tuesday, the installers went to the wrong address (42 miles away), said they couldn't move furniture as I hadn't asked for it. Though I had, the extra furniture movement was their fault, as they couldn't install the living room that I had emptied and everything had to be moved again. The second installers were unfriendly, cut the threshold an inch short (until I complained), had to sew it in and didn't vacuum. Total ''Rush'' time 4 full weeks.
Description of Work: They installed 4 rooms of the same carpeting (79 square yards).
