Nyberg Exteriors

My sister referred Andy Nyberg to me. He was extremely responsive; came out the next day and provided a written proposal in less than 24 hours. Andy was very accurate in estimating when the shingles would be available and how long the job would take. There were no 'surprises'; no additional costs; no delays. The crew was very courteous and did an excellent job of cleaning up every day (this was a 2 day project). Andy also helped me with a claim (paperwork and photos) submitted to the manufacturer of the shingles being replaced, which were defective and discontinued. It was a pleasure working with Andy Nyberg. He is honest, knowledgeable and very professional.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in regards to home repair. Due to certain issues, I was not able to give Andy a date for when I needed the work done, but I was going to need it done quickly once I had the outstanding issue taken care of. Andy was very patient with me, letting me know what days he had open, which ones may be at risk, and even "held" a spot for me a few times while I was waiting. He never once got frustrated. As for the work, it was amazing. The roof was competely finished in one day, with all but a couple of nails that were hidden cleaned up beautifully. We did have one issue where, due to a miscommunication, our satelite was left hanging from our roof (we told them not to connect it back, miscommunicated how to leave it). This was close to hitting our window, so I called Andy. He immediately got a guy out there without thinking about it, and never once got upset with me or implied that this was my fault. The guy was out quickly and fixed the problem without concern or without bothering us. In addition to this, we had two vents replaced on our siding and these were also done above our expectations. I would without a doubt and without hesitation recommend Andy and his crew for any roofing (or vent/siding issues) projects.

Andy called me back promptly when I left a message (within 24 hours) and we talked about the work I wanted done. Someone came out to survey the situation and left a quote. The recommendations seemed reasonable and a deposit was made. I needed to follow up to see when service would be done, but they came out quickly and very professionally completed the work as agreed upon. Great job!

They were responsive to our request for an appraisal and began work within a couple days after acceptance of the proposal. They repaired a damaged roof of the building and nearly rebuilt the front porch which was in desperate need of repair. Their completed job is better than what was there originally.

Andy and Arthur were professional, prompt & knowledgeable. We are happy with the outcome of both projects that they completed for us. We've had them quote other projects and will continue to use them as the need arises and would recommend them to neighbors. They are flexible also as we called them last minute for a small side project and they went out their way to help out. Thanks to you both.

Andy was on-time and very professional. Said he would have the estimate to us that evening and he did. The only reason we are not going with them is we found out from another roofing company that we had some mold issues on the underside of the second floor roof. Andy did not find this because he did not ask for access to the attic area to check the wood. I would say if you have Nyberg come out it may be best to check your attic area yourself to see if there are any problems that you need to alert them to since it appears they do not do those type of checks.

He came promptly to give us an estimate. He wasn't the cheapest but he wasn't the most expensive. I like the materials that he used. They came when they said they're gonna come and they did a good job. There were couple of things I had them come out and take a look at just because I had questions of it and wasn't sure. He answered my questions and reassured me that everything was fine. I would recommend them highly.

They are terrific. They are very good. They were on time. They did the work. They were patient. It was a reasonable price because I had compared prices. Their prices are competitive. They come when they said they were going to come. They do the work quickly and sufficiently. I would use them again.

Everything went very well. The house was not compromised from the storm so schedule to have the work done was not a problem. All concerns that we had were addressed. The roof was done first while it still had a chance to seal from the heat of the sun. Several weeks later the siding was done. Each time we had a question, we emailed Andy and got a very quick response. The workmen were very good about cleaning up after themselves and with the exception of picking up about a 1/2 cup of nails/screws, there was nothing we had to do after they were finished. The job consisted of taking off the existing roof while taking care of the lightning rods and wiring that ran around the house, replacing it with new shingles and vents and installing 2 new vents so that the bathrooms could be vented out the roof instead of just running the vent pipe across the attic and having the end point toward a soffit vent. This had been a problem previously so we wanted to get it fixed while they were tearing the roof apart. One place on the east side of the roof looked like the shingles were bent up a little and not laying flat but when we contacted Andy, he assured us that would flatten and they'd check it when they came back for the siding and rectify any problem. It does appear less obvious now so we think that is happening. The siding was all taken off and a 1/4 inch of insulation was placed under the new siding. Since that raised the thickness of the wall past the trim boards, they put additional plywood on all of the trim areas in order to maintain the appropriate reveal. Then new vinyl siding was installed. In order to get to all of the siding, a large shed had to be moved. It was sandwiched in on the back and right side with less than a foot clearance between the sides of the shed and the house. On the left side was the air conditioning compressor with less than 3 inches distance between the compressor hoses and the shed. We discussed during the estimate about how that would be done and Andy and Arthur were certain they could move the shed and replace it. We (homeowner) ultimately decided to spend the money to move the compressor over about 4 feet rather than risk a problem. Nyberg did move the shed and put it back where it belonged with no problem. Aluminum was applied to all of the trim, new fascia and soffits were put on so that no painting would be needed going forward. There was one hiccup. When they completed the fascia and soffit on the three peaks at the front of the house, they left the 3 corbels (decorative scrolls made of wood). We had discussed these things specifically and they were supposed to be removed and aluminum would cover the place where they had been. We definitely didn't want these 3 painted (wrong color for current siding as well) items left to be maintained. When we contacted Arthur he came out to the house to discuss and agreed to bring the team back for a half day to correct. That was done and it looks great! Part of the cost was borne by the insurance company but about 20% was the homeowner's upgrades and responsibility. Nyberg knew exactly what the insurance company needed and provided a good estimate that was approved immediately. Mistakes can happen but the mark of a superior company is the effort and ability to fix any problems. Nyberg did a great job on the house. It looks fantastic. The one problem that we had was promptly fixed and that is the most anyone could ask. We'll definitely be calling on them again when another home in our family needs their skills.

My overall experience with them was great. I would highly recommend them. They were on time and professional.

We were very happy with this company and our new roof. Andy was very nice, easy to deal with and knowledgeable. Martin was also very nice and threw in a little extra for us. I wasn't available when the actual roof was installed, but the crew did a great job and I couldn't find anything to clean up after the job was completed. If I had to pick on one small thing about the company it would be that they don't accept credit cards. Would definitely recommend though.

They were great. No work was needed yet but if I do need to repairs or a replacement I would consider them.

Stuart Nyberg was very responsive to my needs and came in under the original estimate. I can give him and his team the highest recommendation. The work was fast and well done.

Professional and well done work from the storm. The last visit we thought some work may need to be done and they were honest in saying we didn't. I really appreicated this and was shocked. The company does good work and is professional and honest. I would not hesitate to call them again to work on my home.

We recently purchased a house, the home inspector found no issues with the roof, said it wasn't new but should be good for another 5-10 years. Within a month we had 3 leaks show up from the roof and ruin drywall ceilings. Called Andy @ Nyberg to come out and assess. Knowing very little about roofing, I was pleased to hear him confirm the inspector's assessment that the roof was in good service. He said there were some leaks that were caused by some poor work on the part of the roof installer. They would be easily sealed and the roof should be fine for about the same life as suggested by the inspector. He came out and inspected on Friday, had the quote to me on Saturday, and had the repairs performed, completed, and invoiced on the following Monday.

We couldn't be happier with the work Nyberg did. Andy and his team were very professional and performed the work as detailed in the proposal and final contract. They were patient with our naive questions about various aspects of the job. We had four estimates for the job. Nyberg's cost was roughly in the middle. We ultimately went with them based on Angie's List reviews and our comfort level with their proposal. Andy helped us select the best products for our needs, taking into account functionality, aesthetics and cost. They kept us informed about timing for each aspect of the project. The finished work looks great. They also ensured that debris was cleared. So, no complaints from our neighbors either.

I can't say how happy I am to have hired Nyberg. Andy and his team did a great job and were very honest in telling me their schedule. I had to wait over 10 weeks because of their schedule being backed up with weather issues and how much work they had. I had 2 issues - the first was some of the boards in the back of my house had warped and I needed new plywood put in, the second was leakage in one of part of my garage. During the time I had another issue pop up where I was having an issue with water in another part of my garage and I hadn't gotten any quotes for that. When they came out to fix the garage issue I showed them the secondary issue and because they were fixing the original garage issue they were able to fix this one at no additional cost. Overall I thought I got a great deal for my money, they went above and beyond to fix not only my first 2 issues but the third one that popped up as well. I would highly recommend them to any friends or Angie list members.

I would highly recommend Nyberg Exteriors. They did an excellent job replacing our roof and neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. My husband and I will have Nyberg Exteriors replace our siding next year. Andy and Arthur Nyberg are very professional and are very nice men to work with.

Nyberg Exteriors threatens legal action against their customers. Members thinking of hiring Nyberg Exteriors should read this review because what happened to me could happen to you. Nyberg Exteriors came to our home on October 25 to install an ice and water shield. They did not install it correctly as part of it hung over the side of the roof. The took the part that hung over and pushed it up against the siding of the house and used at least 4 screws to nail it in. This is an area where water can come into our house, so creating holes in the siding created damage to our property. I complained to Nyberg Exteriors about the poor work and the ice and water shield being improperly installed. The first response was that they could paint the part hanging over to match the siding (they were actually serious). Then, I was told they weren’t finished. Finally, I was informed there would be no charge but I would need to find a different vendor to fix their mistake (considering it is one month before winter in Chicago leaving me in a lurch to find a different vendor to modify their mistake is very unprofessional). On October 27, Nyberg Exteriors sent me a bill for the project. Considering they told me that they were not finished and that I would not be charged, I was surprised. During this time, I filed a dispute through Angie’s List. On October 29, I received an email from Nyberg Exteriors stating that if I did not pay within 30 days they would put a lien on my house. I contacted Angie’s List and asked if they had responded to the dispute, and I was informed they had not. Therefore, Nyberg Exteriors threatened me with legal action without following the dispute process outlined by Angie’s List. I also want to make members aware that in addition to trying to bully me by threatening legal action, Nyberg Exteriors was extremely demeaning as they stated I had “erratic behavior”. So my experience with Nyberg Exteriors has been: poor and incomplete work, unwillingness to follow Angie’s List’s dispute process, a bullying and demeaning attitude towards its customers, and threatening legal action rather than solving the situation amicably.

They were excellent. They came promptly. They checked my home and confirmed that I didn’t have a leaking problem. They didn’t charge me anything. My daughter has used them as well. I trust them very much and would use them again too.

In April 14 I contacted Nyberg va E mail and Andy responded in a couple of hours and an appointment was arranged for him to view the project. He arrived promptly, took initial measurements, and provided an E mail bid within 48 hours. Shortly I accepted the bid (mid range of 3) , and scheduled the final measurement for the windows. Master carpenter arrived on time, made measurements and the windows were ordered. They were delivered upon my request in late July and after I'd completed painting and staining in late September, I contacted Andy to schedule the installation. Crew of 3 arrived on-time, covered all furniture & outdoor plantings with plastic, and "work-proofed" the job site. A complete woodworking shop was set up in the garage and the installation was completed by day's end. The windows were tightly caulked, and all the interior/exterior trim was expertly installed. The job site was thoroughly cleaned inside and out-couldn't tell they had even been here. Shortly after they left, the curtains were hung, the furniture replaced. Guests the next evening were unaware a major project had been completed. The installation crew was courteous and appeared to be very skillful carpenters. I found Andy to be very easy to work with. He met all deadlines and expectations and patiently waited for me to complete my painting. If I had any more windows to replace, I'd have him return. Good experience.

I chose Nyberg Exteriors based on the wonderful reviews on Angies List. In fact, they are they only company I called for an estimate! Work began within a week of their promised start date and proceeded quickly. The aluminum looked fine to me. Clean-up was hit or miss. I overlooked the broken branches on my bushes. Two years later I had problems with my roof. The roofer said that the gutters look like they are angled toward the house wall rather than directing water away from it. I called Nyberg. Andy came out to check. He said that everything looked fine to him but Nyberg had no record of performing the work on my house! My bank printed a copy of my check for $1,900.00 made out and endorsed by Nyberg Exteriors which I mailed to Nyberg. They continue to deny having a record of any work being done to my house. Nyberg also refuses to issue the guarantee and other paperwork which I was never given. They cannot explain why they cashed my check for $1,900.00.

Great experience with Stuart Nyberg. The roof over our sun room was leaking, causing yellow stains on the ceiling. I noticed the problem and called on a Saturday. Stuart called me back that weekend, and we arranged that he would come out that Thursday. He came out as scheduled, looked at the roof, as well as some other gutter issues I had elsewhere on the house. He did not try to over-sell me at all. He explained why I didn't need any gutter work and even got up on his ladder and removed some debris that was creating problems with my gutters. A few days later he provided a quote to replace the roof and install and ice and water shield. The quote was reasonable in my mind, and he committed to getting the job done quickly. They then came out about a week after I accepted the estimate. At all times throughout the process, Stuart was super-responsive via email. The work appears to have been done very well (it was done while I was not at home). A small glitch arose that showed the excellent level of service that Nyberg provides - I had a satellite dish on my roof that I wasn't using any more. I had requested that they remove the old satellite dish, but apparently they forgot and reinstalled it into the new roof. I let Stuart know about this the next day, and he had someone come out and remove it the next day (even though I had already paid for the job). Overall, I was very very happy with the quality and service provided by Nyberg, and will definitely be calling them for any similar needs that arise in the future. Really excellent service and responsiveness.

Andy and Arthur both came out, and they were great - very professional, and very warm. My wife noticed a rattling sound outside one of our bedrooms after one of the recent bad storms and we found out that some of our vinyl siding had come loose/bent. We researched and called Nyberg due to all of the positive reviews on Angie's List. When they got on our roof, they noticed it was an easy fix and were able to pop the siding back in without a problem. They walked our entire roof and confirmed there was no additional damage. Andy also pointed out we had a missing vent cap on our roof for our furnace that we should address, and he also popped in and fixed some roof shingles that had come loose near this vent. And they would not take any money for helping us out - no charge!! Who does this any more?? We so appreciate Nyberg, and will most definitely use them and recommend them to others in the future. My parents have an upcoming scheduled job for complete siding replacement already through Nyberg (I didn't tell Andy) - and I now have the utmost confidence that their job will be done right.
