This was my first experience with them. They found that the roof had been poorly constructed by the first guy. They sent someone out the next day to cover up the particle board to prevent further damage. A few days later, they sent someone out to do the full repair. He took a day and basically re-did the problem section of the roof. I have been happy with the work since then. They did fantastic work.
Description of Work: I had damage on the roof that caused some water in the attic. They assessed the damage to the roof.

Terrific!! Fast service call, work was done in a very timely fashion, etc. Would absolutely use him again, and would HIGHLY recommend Stuart and Nyberg.
Description of Work: Stuart came out to look at a possible roof repair, which he determined was NOT necessary at this time (reason enough to love him, as most contractors would say you need something done--especially when you already think you have a problem!). We started talking about an ongoing gutter/downspout problem we have had. He told me what he thought the problem was, and why the 2 prior attempts to fix it hadn't worked. He thought he could fix it for very little money, which he did! Problem solved! Next time, I will call him first!!

The work form the ground is perfect, they were good at matching the colors. They were extremely reasonable on their rates. They were under the three others I got and estimate from. One other said $500 when they did the work for $180.

I consulted Angie's List for reputable contractors after I noticed that my roof shingles were severely deteriorating and that areas of the roof were spongy from wood decay. Also, I saw that the old gutters were not draining to downspouts, and were almost daily clogging with leaves during the fall season. Nyberg Exteriors e-mailed me the same day as my INTERNET request for an estimate whereas their competitors (also recommended on Angie's List) took a couple of days to call me and subsequently never came out to give me an estimate. When Andy and Stuart Nyberg came by to estimate the work, they showed me how improper installation of flashing by the previous roofer led to water penetration around and under the flashing and causing rotting of the plywood in the roof and soffit near the chimney. After looking at the roof and gutters, I showed them some deteriorated stucco on the front facade of the house. They got out a caulking gun on the spot and they sealed the larger cracks to prevent water from entering and doing worse damage. I was so impressed with them and trusted the positive feedback that I saw on Angie's List that I decided not to wait for the other contractor to give me an estimate (they never showed up). So I accepted the Nyberg proposal. The work was scheduled to start within a couple of weeks and the crew showed up on-time. Everything was completed in less than one week. While working on the roof, the vibrations caused two large suspended fluorescent light fixtures in the kitchen to fall and crashed to the floor. The crew came inside and cleaned up the mess. Andy and Stuart had me select and purchase a new light fixture which they installed for me and they deducted the cost of the fixture from my final bill. I realize that this was done as a courtesy to me as the contract stated that they were not responsible for incidental damages which were possible during roof installation. The final bill was marginally higher than estimated as the extent of the plywood replacement was not known until the old shingles were removed. I was actually surprised that the final cost was not significantly higher as I expected much more water damage after learning about the improper installation of the original flashing.
Description of Work: Removed two layers of old shingles, replaced plywood where rotted, installed new architectural shingles and flashing, replaced gutters, soffits and fascia. Installed leaf guards on new gutters. Re-located and resized downspouts to divert drainage away from house.

I wasn t impressed with their professionalism. When I called to set up an estimate, the receptionist told me that I needed to go to the website for that. I was a little turned off by that. I didn t like that experience. They came out to our home and gave us an estimate. Their punctuality and communication were fine.

When they came out, they priced the job using good, oversize gutters & downspout, with everything screwed, not nailed, in place. That showed me that the would do the job with the right materials. The quote seemed reasonable. The job is completed and I am satisfied. However, communication was not great. Here's a note I included with my payment to them: "Your man did a very good job." After he left, I went onto the roof over the back porch and looked over everything very carefully. Everything looks good. Then I brought a garden hose up there and ran water through it. Everything is leveled correctly and there are no leaks. The roof patch on the front of the house looks very good, also. From the street, it is very difficult to see that anything was repaired. I am very satisfied with the work. Thank you. I must say, however, that the communication between us was not too good. When you first came to the house, I remember asking you who was going to do the actual job. I recall you replied that you and the other fellow you were with, would do the work. Then, when you came on the day of the job, you brought a third man who I had not met. When I asked if you would do the work as you had originally told me, I did not totally understand the answer you gave me. Finally, I think you said that the third man would start the work and that you would be back in about an hour. None of this ever happened. The third man did all the work, and as I said before, he did an excellent job. So why didn't you just tell me from the beginning that you would be using a sub-contractor? I just wanted to know who would be working on my house. I also felt somewhat strange that I didn't hear back from you when I faxed you the signed contract. Then, just the night before the job, you called and said you'd be here the next morning. You were here exactly as you said, but it would have been nice to know more than just 12 hours ahead of time that you were coming. I would think that some homeowners would like to be home the day the work is done, and with such short notice I imagine that would be impossible for many people." A month after I sent this, I noticed the gutter leaking in one spot. I left a message on their answering machine Sunday night at 9:30PM and by 9AM on Monday morning, there were here, looking it over. Within the next 2 days, the gutter was fixed. Now it's two months after that, and there has not been a single leak, and the roofing shingles are fine, even after some very windy weather. Overall, I feel the work was done well and I would use them again. I suspect they were just very busy with Autumn on the way, and perhaps that accounted for some of the communications issues.

Nyberg provided an estimate via e-mail, came in with the lowest price, and worked with us to schedule it at a time that would work for us. Their workers were quick but thorough. In the process they had to replace a few roof boards for which their additional charge was quite reasonable. We had a minor billing "glitch" in that we were inadvertently charged twice for a building permit, but they readily acknowledged the problem and promptly sent a new bill.

Well, we sure wish we had used Nyberg! We received 2 estimates for patching our flat roof - both estimates came in at the same price. We used the other contractor because they are located in Arlington Heights & we like to support local businesses. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with them, and when we replace the entire flat roof in 2009, the contractor we did use will NOT be on the list, but Nyberg will. I believe it was Andy who came out - he was very professional and offered up tips of advice, which was appreciated. He also gave us a ballpark estimate for replacing the roof so we could start budgeting.

He said that since it was a patch job he could do it later on for me and I had to put him off becuase we were also having electric work done. He was very nice and I'll call him as soon as I get the electric work done. Estimated cost for the patch job was $286.
Description of Work: He came over and we have a flat roof and it was leaking that we didn't know if it had new roofing put on it. He looked at it and told us that the roof itself was fine and it just needs a patch job.

Andy came out within 24 hours of my call to give me an estimate. We had received an estimate from another roofer that was a far more extensive job (and much more money). Andy explained that the extra work was not necessary and we would be paying so much more for no reason. When do you hear of a company saying that they don't want you to do the more expensive work with them? Andy and another gentleman arrived promptly at the designated time of the repair. They explained exactly what they were doing and why they were doing it. This was a small job, but they treated me as if I was a more profitable customer. They were very thorough in each stage of the job and when they were done, explained to me what to do over the next decade to keep the area water tight. I would use them again whenever I have a roofing issue.
Description of Work: We had a leak in the bay area of our roof. It is a copper roof that extends out from the brick. Andy had to clean out the very old caulk and re-caulk the flashing and seal the limestone that was not properly sealed by the builder.

I recently purchased my property and the inspection revealed that some repair work needed to be done on the roof. The inspector told me that a tear off would be in my future, but that this one was in fair condition and I should get at least a few more years out of it. I had four roofers come out to assess the work and give quotes. The first roofer told me it would take $4,500 to make repairs and then told me to compare this against the cost of doing a tear off in a few years and decide which to do. The second roofer climbed to the roof, was up there a few seconds, came down and told me I needed a tear off, and nothing could be repaired. The third roofer was more on par with what the inspector had stated and quoted me a reasonable price. Then Stuart from Nyberg came by. He looked at the roof and asked me if I was handy. When I told him "yes," he then told me how to do the repairs myself! All I need to buy is some roof tar. He even took out a trowel and demonstrated how to get it on the trowel and apply. Then he gave me his trowel to keep! He quoted me on the shingle roof, which is in line with other quotes, and said it will be best to have it done in the spring. I will without a doubt be using Nyberg come spring time and when I need a tear off. Stuart was extremely friendly and took the time to explain everything I needed to know about my current roof. I wish more contractors were as honest and knew how to build relationships with customers.

The job went well, although not as planned. The estimate mentioned possible additional repairs and expense, that ended up being necessary. Four 4X 8s were ruined and two others, while not rotting, WERE soaked through. All had to be replaced and the job still came in very close to the original estimate.

Overall experience was good. Our salesman, Ted, was very responsive and courteous. The roof workers were fast, clean and professional. The siding guy was meticulous and much better than the initial installer. The only "issue" was that the job was underestimated by $1300 due to a measurement error. I gladly paid the agreed upon price as an honest mistake was made.

I have a rehabbed house that needed a lot of work and didn t know the first thing about roofing or siding and how to pick a contractor, but I do after this project. I compared 5 contractors, which was very helpful in understand the construction lingo. Ted came out from Nyberg for the estimate, explained products, answered questions, with no pressure. I picked Nyberg was because the estimated was detailed, broken out w/ a fair costs, and felt quality work would be completed. Other companies mostly gave me low balling chicken scratch quotes or jacked up the price by added additional options. Nyberg finished on time and all unforeseeable problems during the project were photographed and communicated to me. (we had some rotten wood, very little window insulation). Nyberg did not overcharge or cut any corners. Both staff members for the quote (Ted) and completing the work (John) were honest and knowledge. Everything was cleaned up after the job and our house looks brand new. I would recommend their services to others looking for solid quality work, reasonable/explained prices, good follow-up, and a peace of mind guarantee after completion.

The overall experience was great. I used Nyberg for my siding job two years ago. We didn't have the money then to do roofing and siding, so we just had the siding done first. You are supposed to have the roof replaced first, but the folks at Nyberg were able to put the roof in after the siding and still make it look good. There were no gaps between the siding and roof shingles. Flashing and J-Channels were replaced. The house looks great. My salesman, Ted, was very accommodating. He can be easily reached by phone or e-mail. He answered all my questions.
