They were promt in returning my call and started the job on time. The work was done on time and there were no debris left. They cleaned up with rakes and power blowers. You could not tell that any work was done. There was nothing left behind. There were no surprises, hidden cost or extra cost to the estimate that was given. They were honest and professional workers. They even did a walk through at the end to make sure that I was satisified.

Our roof includes a turret, which each of the roofing work estimators we talked to said would be a problem to repair and replace. Stuart was aware of the difficulty and unique problems our roof presented, and had his workers take extra care in replacing the turret. The workers came on time, were pleasant and efficient clean, and did a beautiful job. Since the installation, we have had 3 or 4 rainstorms and NO LEAKS! Stuart was at the site to check on the work more that once. We have used Nyberg roofing many years ago and when problems arose, Stuart and his brother Andy were always quick to respond. I can assure anyone thinking of using Nyberg that they are extremely honest and concerned with making their clients happy. Stuart will tell you what he can and can't do. He is also very, very professional and a pleasure to talk to.
Description of Work: Complete tear off of roof and installing new roof shingles. They do not do carpentry work to replace cedar siding, which our roof needed. They told us that up-front and suggested we hire a carpenter on our own, which we did. Other roofing estimates had similar limitations, so I think this is not unusual. Our carpentry cost was $1,800.00, which would make the real cost of our roof replacement $8,000 which was very fair and about similar to other estimates, if not a little lower.

Professional work done by skilled, responsible workmen. There were two communication problems early on, but the company backed up their written quote and fixed both issues immediately with no hassle. We were impressed by the quality of work done. The windows were installed 3 years ago. I thought that a strong wind had blown pelting rain in through one of the windows, so called to ask they come and fix things. Company owner returned my email via phone promptly, and a date was set for workmen to come out. The two men were professional, courteous, and discovered there was nothing wrong with the window installation. Rather than just leaving then, they took the opportunity to check the other windows to make sure the caulking/etc was still good (they were) and to caulk the nail hole in the flashing that had actually been the water entry point. What fantastic customer service! We are extremely pleased with this company, and definitely recommend them.

Nyberg Exteriors is the best! Andy kept great communication lines throughout the estimate process and the job. Quality workmanship. Aim to please. My neighbors still talk about my roof job and the amazing system the crew had in getting the job done and well done! No problems with the roof so far. It survived our crazy snow filled witnter with no problems.

I used Angie's list to focus on roofers that were well rated and had skylight experience. Nyberg Exteriors was the third bid in and while they were not the lowest bid by a few dollars, I was very impressed with Andy's knowledge and the professional manner in which the bid was written. Andy brought the skylights out the Thursday before the Friday install. Gave me a 4:30 PM arrival time and was right on the money, as was every contact with Nyberg from bid to billing. Not used to such punctual tradesmen so I was very impressed. Friday install started right at 8:30 AM as planned and ran til almost 6PM due to an out of square opening for one of the skylights. The installer had a lot of experience with Velux and did a great job of both installation and clean up. I had the city out for inspection of the work the next week and the inspector also commented on the high quality installation. Really great experience and I'd use them for any roofing or siding project.
Description of Work: We had two skylights replaced. Required removing the shingles around the old ones, removal and replacement of the builder installed skylights with Velux FS106 fixed skylights, ice shield, Velux flashing and replacement of shingles. All debris to be removed from job site. 10 year guarantee on the workmanship which matches the skylight warranty.

The job went just as planned. Nyberg installed all new siding on my second floor for me last year. Just like last year, Nyberg did an excellent job. Andy & Stuart are great to work with. They are punctual, very polite and are very knowledgeable (as well as the installlers, in my case Eugene). I will continue to hire them for all my exterior work (next year a roof replacement with them).
Description of Work: I bought an older house 2 years ago. The gutters and roof soffit were not originally installed properly. I hired Nyberg to take down the existing gutters and soffit. They also installed a watershield under the existing roof shingles.

Andy Nyberg came out to give an estimate. He explained the repair that needed doing and did not try to up-sell me (very important, in my opinion). He complimented my make-shift repair of the downspout, which had come apart from the gutter over the winter (and I think he was sincere in his compliment). He sent an electronic copy of the estimate and scheduled the work around my calendar. The person who did the repair was less professional than Andy but seemed to know what he was doing and got everything done quickly and so far the repairs are holding. Andy sent an invoice via e-mail and I was able to pay in full after the repair was completed. I know with a roof repair it can be hard to tell if subsequent leaking is a result of a new problem or a bad fix on the old problem. Replacing our roof is in our near future (with in a couple of years) and the technician was able to explain how the roof should have been assembled compared to how it is assembled. I would hire them again.

Overall, I was very, very happy with Nyberg and I would highly recommend them for anyone needing roof work. The story starts in the fall of 2008, when during a heavy rainstorm a small stream of water rushed through a can light in the kitchen ceiling of one of our top units. Over the next year and a half or so, we had 2 roofers try to do repair work without any success. Neither roofer was Nyberg and neither was found using Angie's List. The final straw was January 2010, when melting snow was getting in and damaging the kitchen cabinets in the same unit. In addition, some water had gotten into our other top unit in a completely different area. At this point, we agreed as an association to stop spending thousands of dollars on uncertain repairs and instead get a new roof with a new warranty. As a small condo association, getting for a new roof is probably the largest/most expensive single project we could undertake. In addition, we did not have enough reserves to cover the roof, and so a special assessment was necessary. Therefore, it was imperative that we be as thorough and as prudent as possible. We spoke with a total of 10 roofing contractors, with a wide variety of experiences. Some appeared untrustworthy; others submitted initial bids so high it felt like they were not interested in the work, but did not want to say so. Nyberg was one of four roofers that we considered worthwhile. After follow-up calls with all four to compare bids (what was included vs.what would cost extra), we selected Nyberg based on several winning points: -the bid included 1-inch of new insulation; most bids included only 0.5 inches, if any at all -15 year warranty; most were 10-12 years -pricing and payment flexibility--to help the association, since we had to do a special assessment We dealt with Andy and Art from Nyberg, who were very responsive over email (our preferred method of contact) to answer our questions and to finalize the contract. We sent in our initial deposit amount in mid-February and waited for the weather to break. Unlike some other roofers, Nyberg insisted on favorable conditions (mostly related to minimum temperatures, since it was still winter). With melting snow a continuous problem in the unit while we waited, it did get frustrating. However, in the long run, we understood that it was better to have the job done right the first time, even if it meant waiting a little longer. The project finally started on a clear, sunny Wednesday. Andy and Art were again there with the team of actual roofers to oversee the start of the job, which included a crane lifting all our new roofing materials from a flatbed truck all the way up to the roof of our three-story building. The project went very smoothly and took about 5 days to complete. There was only one small issue that came up--our flat roof was literally flat, with pitch (necessary for drainage) created by having more layers of insulation at the edges and fewer at the middle drain. Andy called the morning of the first day, as soon as they encountered it, proposed a workable solution that would neither compromise our new roof nor cost any more. Following completion of the job, Andy and Art came back for a final walk through, and the completed roof looked fantastic--who knew roofs could look so great?!? They also pointed out some problem areas where some wood decking had to be replaced and other minor problems they took care of at no additional cost. We've had some rain since they finished and no issues inside. Based on the obvious quality and care the Nyberg team put into the job, we are not worried about the rain at all. Overall, from start to finish, the Nyberg team delivered on every expectation. Our new roof looks great and costs were exactly what they were supposed to be--no hidden "extras" or other funny business. Andy and Art are highly trustworthy and I would recommend them to anyone dealing with a roof leak.

They were fantastic and did a fantastic job. They gave me a very good quote and were very responsive. Anything that I asked them to do, they did. They went above and beyond anything I could ask for. This man was outstanding. I highly recommend them. They cleaned up everything.
Description of Work: He tore off my roof and put in a new roof on my home that is over 3000 square feet. I needed the roof put on to get a mortgage, and I was in serious trouble. There was a little window of about 4 days in amidst the snowy spring where it got a little warm and the snow melted. He came out with 10-12 workers and finished the job in a 4 day period. He came as soon as the weather broke, and really helped us out. My roof is complicated with dormers, and the roof is not low quality. He took the time to install rubber in the eaves to make sure there was no leakage.

Remove all the siding, gutters ,facia and soffit. They looked for any wear that was hidden and replaced some rotted wood and insulated where neccesary. Put new insulation and siding, gutters and spouts. they took time to do a good tight job Overall we were very happy. Took a little longer than expected. The roof started leaking immediately after the completion of the work at the first rain within a week. I called Stuart Nybery and he had his inspector Martin to come out to inspect the problem. He added some chalking to areas that he thought might have been the problem that we visuably left open. Upon the next rain which was about a week after Martin's visit the roof was still leaking. I called and asked Stuart Nyberg to come out and check the work cause I had a contract with him and not Martin. He came out and said he think that the roof was probably not pitched properly and would have Martin come out and add more rubber roofing to pitch the run-off. Even after that was done the roof still continued to leak and has continued to leak to this day. I would also like to mention that I paid he immediately upon completion of the work in April. As of today, January 28, 2010 my roof is still leaking seriously. I finally asked Stuart Nyberg to refund my money so that I could get someone else to fix the roof because his 3 year warranty has not lasted 30 days. After many phone calls he finally sent me a check for $350. I asked him how did he come up with this amount as a refund. He had no answer and later within a week sent me another check for $450 and said that I would not get the rest of my money until he is able to come out an inspect the new roofing company's work to see if what they did is different from what he did. I told him he did not have a right to inspect another company's work cause they had nothing to do with the warranty that he gave me which was suppose to last 3 years. There was no clause in the warranty saying that if his work didn't last 3 years that I would get a refund after a new company fix the problem and he inspect their work to see what they did. To this date I am still trying to get the balance of my refund ($1385.00). I still need to get a "Professional" to fix my roof. I would also like to mention that I had to wait until he finished the roof before the interior company could come and replace the new ceiling to my kitchen where the damage took place. I now also have to get that work redone because the leaking has totally damage the ceiling. I have pictures of all this damage from then to now (April 2009 - January 2010). As recently as Monday, January 25, 2010 he has not refund my balance and he even hung up on my husband during this conversation. Please help me get my money and change his rating on your list. He is an "F" all day long. Do NOT recommend him or his company to anyone.

Response from Nyberg Exteriors
We believe the leak is caused by water penetration to adjacent siding and/or the upper roof of the building, areas outside of the scope of our contract with the member. If the roof that we installed is at fault and if the member establishes to us that she has corrected our fault using an alternate contractor, then upon substantiating such claim, we will return the $1, 385 to her. Overall, the day the work that was done went as described by Andy of Nyberg Exteriors. The crew arrived at 8:15 am and were working by 8:30 am as they informed me 2 days before. The effort was completed by 12 noon. There was an odor in the 2 rooms due to the drying caulk. We had to leave the 2 rooms windows open the rest of the day to help dissipate the smell. We were quite pleased with the 3 new double pane windows and requested an estimate on 2 additional 1st floor windows. This company has also given us an estimate on the siding of our house with aluminum insulated siding and some gutter work. Our only disappointment was in the moderate delay of the installation. We paid our deposit in mid December and the windows were installed on 1/20/10. The contractor indicated they might be able to install them the week of December 27, 2009. But the weather probably was a factor (snowy and cold for many days).
Description of Work: The contractor replaced 3 2nd story windows - one in bathroom and 2 in bedroom with double pane windows. Excalibur from Alside is the make of windows the contractor used. The current windows were about 30 years old and leaked cold air. They badly needed to be replaced. The old windows were removed with minimal damage. (In the bathroom the bullnose tiles immediately around the windows will have to be regrouted, but this is a small job.) The few tiles that were displaced were reglued by the workers. The exterior wood window frames were repaired if needed and all were sided with new aluminum coil. Cleanup by the 3 man crew was handled well. One additional 1st floor window with some rotten woodwork was covered by a temporary aluminum coil until the homeowners can repair it later in the year. This was a nice surprise since it wasn't in the work order.

I had suspected some raccoon damage which Andy confirmed. Also had been having some peeling paint issues. Andy was extremly helpful & knowledgeable. Once I made my decision to replace the roof & got permission from my association I sent in my deposit & work began about 10 days later. Everything was spotless after they were finished. The Association required 2 of the replaced boards to be painted [which I supplied] & Andy was more than happy to paint them. My estimate was reasonable & right on when the final bill came. I'm extremly happy & wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

Work was done in October, but I waited till January to do my review. We were constantly getting leaks after a heavy rain in the summer or a big snow in the winter. Since they re did my roof, we've had both, and so far, not a drop! Couldn't be happier. The price they quoted was fair, they did the work on time, cleanup was thorough. The roof looks great, and most importantly, IT DOESN'T LEAK! We will be redoing the shingled part of our roof, soon, and Nyberg willl be my first and only call.

They were fabulous and the work turned out to be perfect. It was a family run business and they could not have been more courteous, fast and neater. They started the work on the morning of the day I had a party in my house and I was worried about the debris. They were fast and they cleaned up by evening as they promised me. I am very happy with everything they did. Some nail pop came through and they responded by coming within two days to fix it. I cannot say enough great things about them. They were excellent from start to finish. They gave an extremely competitive warranty and the price was good. I will definitely hire them in the future if I need them.

Not so good in the beginning. Actually bad. The original guy quoted on a downspout that was aluminum and too small for the size of the home. In the winter the 3 story high down spout froze completely and the entire back of the house was one big ice fall. Pretty, but not what I was really looking for. I called Stuart, sent him some digital pictures online, and he came out. He gave me the here is what we're going to do. In the spring when everything thaws I am going to replace this aluminum gutter system with a steel gutter system that will handle the house drainage more effectively. I am not going to charge you for the re-installation because it is our responsibility to quote correctly. They were true to their word and now that I am back on Angies list a year or more later I thought I would share my experience. I found Stuart to be knowledgable, prompt and he kept his promise so I am now keeping mine. I told him I would share my experience with others and now I have.

Outstanding! Nyberg was prompt and professional, and they sought out the root cause of the problem, rather than just going where we directed. All the other contractors recommended tearing off the roof and/or replacing the siding. Andy's team was the only one that did not try to sell us more than we needed. Andy and his team at Nyberg have our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Last year we noticed that the paint on the front of the house was bubbling. We hired a contractor to come and fix the problem. They repainted, but the bubbles came back. After six months of phone calls and visits they were unable to fix the problem. This summer, we called several companies to provide estimates for troubleshooting and repair of the paint bubbling. Nyberg Exteriors gave the lowest estimate, and was the only company that believed we should start with the most minimally invasive repairs, then escalate to more invasive work only if required. Andy Kopka and Arthur ??? of Nyberg came within two days of being called, climbed up onto the roof, troubleshot the problem to some leaks in the flashing at the roofline, and caulked several gaps in the flashing and in the false chimney. We mentioned that we were also having leaking problems into the addition on the back of the house. They found several gaps in the flashing and caulked them as well. After several months, the addition has not leaked. The siding drips on the front of the house, however, had not gone away. We called Nyberg again, and within a few days they came out and used a thermal imager to pinpoint the source of the leak to the window. They caulked the window, and we haven't noticed leaking since.
