Nyberg Exteriors

We have used Nyberg Exteriors several times to troubleshoot and diagnose roof leaks and leaks around a skylight. Mr. Nyberg responded promptly by phone and came to talk about our problem, a leaky seam in the flat roof and a leak around an older skylight (Neither was installed by them. He provided a written estimate for repair and the crew came within a week and did the repair, which has lasted. We have his company come every two years to look over these problem areas. The company is honest and trustworthy and does a great job.

Never called back and never showed up.

I have used Nyberg in the past and was extremely happy with the service and response. This time, I called 3 times and left messages and not even a response to let me know their schedule was full or something - just silence.

Everything turned just fine with this company. We were recommended this company by our neighbors and overall I was very happy with the experience.

Nyberg gave me an estimate on replacing two sections of gutter and a downspout. They were prompt wih their appointment. Their representative explained the servises in a professional manner. Their quote seemed a little high.

They were very professional. The supervisor came to check on the work and to check in with me every day they were here. The actual people that did the work were fast and very receptive to address anything that I saw.

He was very professional. He was prompt and he knew what he was talking about.

Our overall experience was very good. We called Nyberg Exteriors in early May after researching a number of contractors. Reports on Angie's List of responsiveness & quality along with their mission statement were the reasons we picked up the phone and made the call. Andy was prompt in responding to us with an estimate appointment on May 4th. He was thorough in his assessment of the problem, even suggesting improvements we hadn't thought of (They installed a working vent to the attic where a decorative one existed). We signed the proposal and deposited $1000.00. Then waited until July 18th for the work to begin. An unexpected long time, but agreeably valid reasons were: Andy's vacation; special order for the cement board; our vacation; subcontractor needing to repair own home after a severe storm that knocked out electricity in 100's of thousands of area homes. However, communication was good and we were kept informed. Nonetheless, a cause for concern for the actual work getting done was there. But they didn't disappoint & showed up within a reasonable time frame from what we were given. The workmen were friendly, efficient, and knew their stuff, asking questions about our preferences where design made a difference. They kept the site clean & picked up at the end of the day. And even though they had planned on leaving the trim white to blend with the stucco, they agreed to paint it if we supplied the paint. They even secured a couple of loose gutters. Thanks guys! Andy came by after the work was completed and checked things out. We would use Nyberg again and would certainly recommend the company to neighbors. Good job!

Nyberg does a quality job at a decent, competitive price. There were some issues with the start date and finishing up the job, but overall, another excellent job done! (We had them do our siding a couple years ago.)

I called them out and I didn’t actually have anything done. I just thought that they were very honest and a good roofing company. By just dealing with them initially, I thought that they were very nice. They didn’t up sell me anything. They were not willing to do more work than other people who told us various things could be done. I did not pay them anything for the estimate. I will use their services again in the future.

This project went extremely well. I called Andy to take a look at my building roof after a leak had developed in one of the apartment ceilings. Andy was the most responsive of any contractor I called and came out during Christmas week. He thoroughly inspected the roof and gave me several suggestions and options for temporarily fixing the leak until the roof could be replaced. The roof was not well-ventilated which had caused a deterioration of the roof over time. In addition, the exhaust fans from six apartment bathrooms were venting into the attic instead of through roof vents. The plywood had become wet and had deteriorated to the point that replacement was required. Andy clearly had a wealth of experience in roofing and his reviews on Angie's List were outstanding. I selected Nyberg Exteriors for the project and they did not disappoint. Andy provided me with shingle samples so that I could make an informed decision about which shingle to install. They started shortly after 7:00 AM on the day I had selected and completed the entire job by sunset. They took extra precautions to avoid damaging the building or windows during the tear-off by placing a tarp from the roof to the dump truck. Andy kept me informed of the progress while I was at work. I was very pleased with the finished product and would highly recommend Nyberg Exteriors to others considering roofing work.

We had birds entering the attic via a small opening under the soffit. Nyberg Exteriors opened up the soffit, waited for the birds to fly out, and then sealed up the area.

They were pretty honest and I respect that. I will keep them in mind in the future when I need the work done. I have recommended them to others.

Nyberg sealed the area around the vent and told us to look in the attic during the next rainfall to ensure that the seal was holding. During the next rainfall, we examine the attic and found that the leak had been repaired. Unfortunately, we noticed another leak coming from the area surrounding our attic fan. Nyberg returned and sealed that leak as well. They did not charge us for either repair!

Very prompt with estimate. Scheduled repairs for the upcoming week-end but workman never showed that day nor did he call. When I called to inquire why, it appears he had to do an emergency repair to a friend's roof. He did show up on the next scheduled day, completed the job and cleaned up everything prior to leaving the site. The firm has been very fair in working out a payment plan since they do not have a provision to pay for the work with credit cards. Unfortunately, that fact is not stated anywhere in either their advertising or on the contract or estimate papers.

Nyberg gave us the most competitive price estimate. Often the lowest price leads to poor quality work, but Nyberg's sizeable crew showed on time and did a fantastic job. Since he had such a large group, the job was done in a single day. Further, the prior owners of the house had not replaced several cracked concrete tiles from the front portion of the roof, and Nyberg sourced them and replaced them for us as well. We did have one small leak that went unnoticed until 2009, after the back-to-back hurricane remnant storms dumped so much water on the the Chicago area. We had a small leak, and Nyberg came out promptly, found the problem, and fixed it at no cost to us. We intend to use them for when we need to replace the roof next time.

Overall, it was a good experience. They were prompt, courteous and friendly. They gave us two quotes: one for a small repair job, and another for a new roof. On the day they gave us the estimates, I asked if we would get the Angie's List discount, and he (Andrew) asked, "Oh, you're on Angie's List?". I responded that, yes, that's how we had found him. He replied that yes, we would receive a 5% discount for being an Angie's List member. Well, when they returned to do the small repair job for $150 (vs. the $4,800+ for a new roof), I asked if I should take the 5% off of my $150 check, and was told that the discount only applied to the new roof estimate, not to the repair estimate. At the time, I was put off, and thought that even though it was only $7.50, he should have honored the Angie's List discount, since I had made him well-aware that THAT's how we found him, and why I had called him in the first place. The day he told me about the 5% discount, he did NOT explain that it was applicable to one estimate, but not the other. I was surprised that he did not give us the discount for the repair... It's a small thing -- I know it's only 5% of $150 -- but that $7.50 made me not trust him, or want to deal with his company again. If they'd do that for a small item, then what will they do when more money is involved? It's the principle of the thing to me, and that $7.50 cost them a $4,800 roof replacement job next summer. It just wasn't right. I wasn't about the argue with him regarding $7.50 (I should have had to), but it left a bad taste in my mouth for Nyberg Exteriors.

We were very pleased with them. They actually repaired my mother-in-law's house due to hail damage recently and they did a great job as well. He solved a problem with our roof by researching and determining what was best for us. He figured out how they needed to space everything out to give the shingles and roof more support. He did a great job.

It went very well. They were very professional and got the job done relatively quickly for the price they agreed to.

I worked with Andy and he was able to diagnosis the problem in my attic and garage effectively. They were very prompt. They got me my new roof and fan right away. I haven't had any problem since. I would absolutely use them again.

Andy and Art were excellent (again), prompt, professional and responsive. They immediately found out that the skylight leak was not due to the roofing, but a gap in the window and frame which they caulked. They reattached the baffle to the gutter (no problem). Their inspection revealed that some of the cedar shake shingles were starting to curl on the roof facing south (very common) and that we should continue to watch and replace them as needed.

They started on time and completed the work at the agreed to price. It took 4 days which was a little longer than anticipated but they did a good job. When replacing the trim/flashing around the garage door, they found some rotted wood and replaced it at no extra charge. All communications were through e-mail, professional and prompt. I would definately hire them again if I had the chance.

From start to finish the job went smoothly. Andy was very responsive to our request for an estimate and the work was scheduled in a timely manner. Andy brought samples of shingles and gutters and we were able to choose the colors we wanted. The workmen were pleasant to have around, polite and friendly. The work area was cleaned at the end of each day. After the job was completed, Andy came to check everything. The roofers came back to repair something they noticed was amiss - we didn't see anything wrong! We would definitely use Nyberg Exteriors for any future work and have already recommended them to several neighbors who were impressed with the quality of our job.
