Dave and his crew did a great job. The work was completed on time and the crew cleaned up everyday at the end of the day, including sweeping dirt/mud away from side doorways to prevent it being tracked into the house. The stone landscaping in the front is beautiful, and the back patio is perfect. The neighbors have already hired Noland's to create a backyard patio/steps landscaping design for them.
Description of Work: Removed old deck and replaced with brick pavers and large flagstone steps to back door. Landscaped around new brick paver patio with viburnum, perennials and mulch. Removed concrete steps to front door, wrought iron railings, front walk and large evergreen. Replaced with flagstone walk and large half circle flagstone steps to front door. Sodded bare spots created by new work and seeded front approach between sidewalk and road.

We had Dave Noland come out in the Spring because we thought we needed regrading in the back yard. He saw the amount of vegetation that needed to be removed from near the house. He suggested that we remove the bushes and plants on our own and have him come back in summer when their schedule was more open and it would be easier to determine the work to be done minus all the clutter. When he came back in July, he saw what we needed to do, and quickly drew up an estimate. There were a couple small things that we had discussed that did not appear in the estimate (moving the two small bushes and removing a small tree stump); he agreed to take care of them and did not add any cost to the estimate. He was pretty flexible on the start date (due to work on our street). They started when they said they would, and worked very quickly. It looks great. We are very happy with the work they did.
Description of Work: Installed 250 sq ft pavers in back yard to extend patio space; removed two small apple trees; moved 2 small bushes/trees; installed 75 yds total of side on either side of house; built timber box around on window well; installed short flagstone path from fence to patio; regraded soil in back yard and put down grass seed; installed soil to raise grade against foundation; installed hardwood mulch in 3 areas for decoration.

It went very smoothly. They did an excellent job! The patio and walkway are beautiful. The way they replanted in the front added to the curb appeal around the walkway and the backyard feels so spacious with the patio and the plants moved away from the house. The entire yard will be much easier to maintain and is much more kid-friendly now. We love it!

We had this work done in August, 2006. We waited toward the end of the season for the installation and received a small discount (7-8%). The installation went very well. We asked for some changes during the installation of the brick pavers (curving of edges) and they were very accommodating at no additional cost. The following spring we had some plants that didn't take or were eaten by animals in the winter. Dave came out personally and replaced the plants. We knew for a perennial garden you wouldn't see the full blooming for about two to three years. This first season we have been very happy with the perennials and how they have progressed. The burning bushes that were relocated are all doing well. The brick paver patio is beautiful and as a result we spend a lot more time in our backyard. Dave and his people did a great job, we would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: When we called for an appointment, Dave Noland called us back promptly and followed through with all of his time lines. We had very little landscaping around our house and a small concrete patio in the backyard and no sidewalk from the front to the back. We had Noland install perennials as well as relocate some excising burning bushes, install a large brick paver patio and sidewalk in the backyard, and he installed a bubbler spout for the sump pump line. Dave also came up with better positioning for our shed and built a better floor base for the shed. We had one other estimate done, Dave's pricing was much better. The other landscape company said the burning bushes could not be relocated and Dave said they could. We did make sure that on the initial visit, when we received the landscape design, and after the installation, we walked around the house with Dave and talked about each planting to make sure we all agreed with the work to be done and confirm it was done as agreed.

Dave Noland came to give an estimate. We told him we wanted our front yard landscaped with easy care plants and we didn't want to spend a bundle. He came up with a plan which we mostly liked, but the things we wanted changed he did so happily without charge as some landscaping companies do. There was a longer wait for installation (about 2 months) than we expected or were told about so that was frustrating and we actually called to cancel, but when Dave called back he informed us they were coming out in a couple days. The installation went very quickly and we were overall pleased. The plants really complimented our architecture. Some of the flowers died quickly and Dave came out and replaced them no charge or gripe. The placement of some of the bushes wasn't quite as even or full as I would have liked so I actually ended up repositioning them and adding one more. Overall a good experience. I would just have wished for a bit better communication and careful installation.
Description of Work: We hired Noland's to landscape our front yard after we had pulled all the old plantings out ourselves. We had about 10 boxwoods, a hydrangea, 2 emerald gaiety bushes, another white flowering bush, a bunch of coral belles, about 6 tall decorative grass plants and enough hardwood mulch to cover all the planting beds.

They came in the morning and worked without breaks until the work was done. They cleaned everything up and even hooked up the sprinkler and put it on to water everything. We were not disturbed at all, and they did a fantastic job. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: They cut out our front lawn and evened the whole front yard. They then laid sod down and removed 2 large bushes. Then they cut out a planting bed and planted 15 shrubs and flowers and laid mulch down. It looks great!

Response from NOLAND'S LANDSCAPING INC
NOLAND'S LANDSCAPING, INC., DID EMAIL YOU BACK A QUOTE THE FOLLOWING WEEK STATING WHAT WORK WOULD BE DONE AND THE COST. WE ARE SORRY YOU DID NOT RECEIVE IT.
Noland's Landscaping was on time, polite, and reasonable in price. The yards look so different. The property looks open and clean. We have gotten several compliments on the brickwork. My regret is that, I didn't convey enough, that the usable shrubs and plants should be reused. I had three rose bushes, several iris plants, and a few bushes from the front yard, that could have been replanted. Instead they were taken away. Noland's used sod in areas where shrubs had been removed. They used seed in the areas where the Bobcat had made tracks. If more money were needed for sod, they should have asked. We didn't feel responsible for the Bobcat tracks. The sand in many places has been washed away. Being on a slope, different sand should have been used. I give them an A for quality of work. The way the house looked before, compared to now is 100%. However, I give them a C, because of the complaints above. Noland did give us another estimate for more sod, when we asked. We declined the estimate
Description of Work: There was more than just lawn work. We had a french drain put in on the side of the house. A new paver driveway, and two sidewalks. The side of the house was a jungle, all the shrubs, a tree and over growth were taken out. Most of the shrubs in the front of the house were taken out. In the back, the shrubs were taken from around the patio and placed further back in a newly made plant bed. The back yard was sodded, the front yard had a mix of sod and seed. It was a huge job, the old owners let everything grow over.

I called Noland's for lawn maintenance service. Dave Noland called the next day, to set up an appointment to give an estimate for the work. I agreed to his proposal on a Friday. He scheduled the crew for the following Tuesday. The work was done thoroughly. One of the crew even hand-pulled grass, in a bed of ground-cover where the trimmer could not be used. I was very pleased with the work and have scheduled them for my weekly lawn maintenance. Dave called the next day, to follow-up and see that the job was done to my satisfaction. I appreciate the prompt service and follow-up. I was particularly pleased with the company, because I can schedule fall clean-up, shrub trimming and other projects without signing a contract for the entire year. Everything is scheduled and billed separately. This was not true of other companies I contacted. I look forward not being controlled by the need to mow the lawn. I can spend more time doing the fun gardening stuff.
Description of Work: Lawn was mowed and edges were trimmed.

I did speak to David - and he did send me a quote for lawn service. But this included so many additional items including edging flower beds (mine are all edged in stone and don't need to be edged). David said "it was included in the standard package". In other words, take it or leave it. The cost was quite high in my estimation and included services I didn't need. So I took a pass. I would consider them for landscaping type work though. New trees and the like. I thought David quite nice to deal with.

David came out to my father's house and we discussed what was needed. He was very professional and polite, and we hired him on the spot. His men were all very polite and hard working. They did most of the work in fall, but didn't finish cutting back the bushes until this January.
Description of Work: Cut back lots of bushes, removed huge pine tree, cleaned up flower beds in back yard, removed timber planter boxes and fencing in garden, and then leveled the area and put down a dormant seed with straw blanket. They disposed of all debris.

WE MET WITH 6-8 DIFFERENT LANDSCAPERS ABOUT OUR FRONT LAWN, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REGRADED TO ADDRESS SOME WATER PROBLEMS THAT HAD CAUSED OUR FRONT PORCH TO SINK. MOST OF THE LANDSCAPERS WE TALKED TO WERE GREAT, BUT MOST ALSO WERE PROPOSING $8000-$12,000 SOLUTIONS TO OUR PROBLEM THAT INVOLVED NEW, EXPENSIVE PAVERS TO FIX THE PORCH AND WALK. WE CONTINUALLY TOLD THEM THAT WE JUST WANTED TO FIX THE YARD SO THAT IT WOULD WORK, AND DID NOT WANT THE MERCEDES BENZ SOLUTION, AS WE HAVE A NUMBER OF OTHER PROJECTS GOING ON. DAVE NOLAND WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT SEEMED TO LISTEN TO OUR NEEDS, AND PROVIDE A SOLUTION THAT FIT OUR BUDGET. HE WAS VERY PLEASANT TO WORK WITH, DID EVERYTHING WE ASKED HIM TO DO, AND GOT IT DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER. IT WAS AN OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE, AND WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR NEW FRONT YARD, AND LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH DAVE IN THE FUTURE.
