I am very impressed with Bob King for following reasons: 1) coming over to work on Sunday for his customer 2) very thorough and meticulous way he went about diagnosing the problem 3) honesty and integrity 4) taking time to answer my questions. I will highly recommend his services to any of my friends.

Work went well. Bob and crew were pleasant, tried to make it so at least one air conditioner was working at any given point in time (useful in the heat of this summer), and (so far) units are working very well. Work appears to have been well done.

Great. We called him and he was able to come to our house the next day. He did say that it may not be until have 7 p.m., but we were desperate to have fixed. He called later that day and told us he would be out around 8:30-9:00 p.m. He showed up on time and fixed our A/C in 10 minutes.

Overall it went very well.

. Bob went above and beyond to be sure that we got the best possible solution to the problem - not an easy fix as the system is 40 years old and as stated above, no parts can be ordered. He is also very professional, personable and easy to work with. We would higly recommend him for any heating repairs

My AC was having problems, I called Great Degrees and Bob came out the next day and was right on time. He spent several hours going over the problem, putting in a new blower motor, repeatedly checking the temperature of the cooled air to make sure it was working. It wasn't cooling enough so he checked the Freon and it was low so he added a couple of pounds of it. He offered to clean it for an additional cost and considering I'd never had the AC serviced in the last decade plus, went for that option. He checked it after all this and everything was working well and will hopefully for awhile longer. My AC is 22 yrs old and I really didn't want to buy a new unit right now so I'm glad I had him service it. I'll definitely call him again for all my AC and Heating needs.

I have a gas leak in the line that services my fireplace. He was so cool about it. He said to call up the gas company and have them tag it and then he'll do the repair. That way, "We can make sure it's taken care of, and I'll feel a lot better about it." Very cool that he decided not to charge me for work that I could get for free and perhaps more safely - especially if he feels the gas company will be able to better assess the nature of the problem.

Found them through Angie's List. They were very professional and capable. The work was good, the worker was friendly and knowledgeable, and the price was fair. I recommend them.

Bob has been maintaining our heating and cooling equipment for several years. This time, as has always been the case, he took meticulous care to inspect the entire system and keep it in good condition.

Bob King was outstanding. I first engaged him last spring (2009) when I was considering geothermal to replace my aging furnace and a/c. While the government tax credit was attractive, installation costs in the Chicago area put the payback from lower operating costs over higher installation costs closer to 10 years instead of the 4 to 7 I kept seeing touted online. I had engaged several different companies offering a variety of solutions. This digresses some, but it speaks volumes for Bob who helped me with designing an Earthlinked DX system. He was very straightforward that while these systems were good, they were pricy. His recommendation was that a high efficiency gas furnace/ac was the better value. In fall of 2009, I decided to wait it out til spring to see if prices would come down. Since they didn't, I immediately engaged Bob at Great Degrees to put in a conventional system. He prepared a menu of choices of two different manufacturers and varying efficiency levels. I selected toward the higher end for both for the tax credit and because I am on real-time pricing with Com-Ed. The installation was very smooth and occurred over three days. He consulted me on questions regarding where to place the new slab for my AC (same tonage, but bigger footprint than my previous unit) so I could mimimize landscaping changes. The same was done for routing of the exhaust pipes along the ceiling and out the back of the house. My wife unexpectedly had some friends over on the second day and Bob was very accommodating and cleaned up the common areas early even though he was still working in the utility room. He came back on the third day for tuning of the system to make sure it was running at peak efficiency. I would use Bob again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend him. On other note- I was unaware there was a special Nicor rebate for equipment installed during May. Bob brought it to my attention and printed out all the forms I would need to apply. It's just one more example of Bob looking out for his customers.

The quote seemed to me to be a little bit expensive. He seemed very knowledgeable and nice. I will probably get a couple of other quotes from a few other outfits before I hire anyone.

Bob discovered the blower motor was bad right away. He told me how much it would cost to replace it and install it. I agreed so he found the item and went to pick it up. He returned promptly and installed it. After do that he kept checking to see if the furnace was running smoothly. It was making some unusual noise and kept restarting. He discovered that a switch was staying open instead of closing at the proper time. He told me how much it would cost to repair it and I told him to go ahea. He also cleaned the pilot flue incase that was dirty. It was not the problem but it was dirty. He did a nice job, did not make a mess and was very nice.

Bob assessed the working condition of my very old direct vent wall furnace; he first attempted to find a replacement fan motor; he recommended replacement of old unit once it was apparent that it could not be repaired; he then presented a number of options to me so I could choose the appropriate new model for my needs and budget; he gave me a very clear estimate of the costs depending upon my decision; he ordered the unit I selected and then he installed it in a timely manner; he also removed the old unit and took it away. The bottom line cost was exactly what his original estimate was. He also made sure I understood how to operate/program the new unit. He maintained professionalism at all times and answered all of my questions. The approximate cost quoted above includes labor and the cost of the new unit.

Bob King was wonderful! He arrived on time for our estimate appointment, and thoroughly walked the house with my husband. They discussed any issues we had with the current system in our house, then he mailed an estimate in a timely manner. We had three people bidding, and it took some time, but Bob kept checking in to see how we liked his quote. While he was not the cheapest (a "big" provider was cheap, but they only spent 2 minutes in my house), he was in line with the third bid we received. We selected Bob, and he worked his installation around our busy schedule. He showed up promptly on the day of installation, and he and his crew (one other gentleman) were very professional. He stayed 12 hours to get it all done in one day, as opposed to taking two days. I couldn't believe how much better our circulation was on our upper floor. Bob explained it was how he positioned the coil (he lost me, frankly, but he sure seemed to know what he was doing, and why). Overall, I would recommend this company. Bob seems to really know his stuff, and he left my house clean and tidy. His pricing was reasonable, he was courteous and professional.

I can't tell you the feeling you get when you meet someone who actually knows what they're doing, seems more interested in fixing a problem than ripping you off, and performs the work quickly, honestly and efficiently. "Euphoria" seems like a pretty good descriptor. Bob charged less than the hourly rate of the Yahoos who basically wanted to sell me an unnecessary new heating system and he didn't seem motivated by the "highest profit/least amount of work formula" I find in so many suppliers. He took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He came back for a second visit and worked on our second rooftop unit. His rates were reasonable, he performed all the work himself and he seemed genuinely curious about the best way to heat and cool our house. Amazing. I can't recommend him highly enough.
