I was satisfied with their service and I did not have any problems with our air conditioning system yet.

Bill provided us an estimate for replacing our furnace and air conditioning units that cost the same as other companies but included a more efficient furnace and air conditioner. We had 3 friends who also recommended Five Star for quality and responsiveness. On the day of the replacement 2 technicians arrived at 8am removed the furnace and AC units by 10am and were working to prepare the space until about 1pm. they broke for lunch until 2pm. the AC unit went in quickly followed by the new chimney and one of the technicians left at that point. the furnace was installed at about 4pm and the 2nd technician spent until 4:30 cleaning up. through the whole process they were very careful to keep the mess to a minimum. They worked cleanly and efficiently. They were very considerate of our cat and dog. They cleaned up the outside areas where they worked as well. Our furnace has worked well through the winter which has been unusually harsh this year and we have seen a reduction in our gas bills despite the extra cold compared to last year.

Five Star replaced our furnace and AC units late last year. They offered to upgrade the ducts serving the master bedroom as it is the coldest room in the house (on the NE side in the shade with lots of old windows) but recommended we try having the new furnace and AC and see if that would help and if it wasn't enough they would come back and upgrade the ducts for the same price. While the new furnace and AC improved, we decided we wanted them to upgrade the ducts. A technician came out at 1pm replaced a 6 inch duct with an 8 inch duct and increased the size of the ducts servicing 3 registers in the master bedroom. He was done by 3:30. We saw an improvement in the temperature of the master nedroom from the first night.

I was very impressed with their punctuality! Rare in the trades. The installer was very personable and the clean up was spotless. I would refer them and totally use them again!

They were very professional and prompt. Bill came to measure and collect house details and then provided an estimate for AC and different filter options. He was honest and told me about the cooling problems/ options in my living room. I decided to install the filters, the install needed them to move some ductwork and it was all done flawlessly and looks like very professional work.

They could have charged me double to come out on Sunday, but he suggested that we wait until Monday and call Wooten electrical company to come out. He asked if the condo was still cool. It was, so he said we should wait until Monday to save money.

We love this company. When we replaced our HVAC they took the time to go through the options with us. We felt very comfortable that they wanted to do right by us and not sell us things we didn't need. Their install was awesome. Done in one day and the routing of the lines etc was very clean - nothing like the hodge podge that we were dealing with for the previous install done by another company. Everyone we have met from this company has been top notch/professional and friendly.

The proposal face was efficient, receiving very detailed proposal. A date for installation was agreed to and service technicians arrived on time, worked all day, leaving the area spotless. All the old equipment was removed about an hour or so after it was taken out. Dave and John were very professional educationing us on the equipment. We will definitely use Five Star to service the equipment. We were very impressed with the service.

Everything went great. Marty, the tech, called to see if he could come earlier than the given window of time which worked out great. He was here for a little over an hour and seemed to do a thorough job.

We got quotes from six different companies before choosing 5 Star. They were very professional, explained the Trane products and had the best price overall. They also had a good rating with the BBB and Angie's List. From the time we ordered, everything went smoothy. The order came in when expected and workman arrived on time. We're very pleased with the efficient 2 stage furnace that we bought. There are no more drafty areas and it's very quiet, just as the salesman said it would be. I don't have to check the themostat anymore for see what the temperature is set at - it's always comfortable.

Bill Stuhr came to do the estimate. He is professional and a nice person. He told me about his background and the company. They represent Trane products which is very good product from the research I did. He took measurements of the house, checked the existing furnace, calculated the size of furnace needed and suggested a couple of heater options based upon my desires and the home. He answered all my questions and gave me a printed quote. (One note on sizing, I had read an article about how older heating systems many years ago were over sized for homes. That was the case with my 35 year old furnace. Bill quoted a smaller, more appropriate sized system for my home...... In comparison, I had three other companies come in to give me a quote. They looked at the size of my furnace and quoted me the exact same size as what I currently had.) I also asked for a quote on the air conditioner. The air conditioner was fine, but maybe only had another 5 years left on it. If I replaced the a/c with the heater, it would save me about $800 and would eliminate the need for a modification if I waited. After thinking about for a few days, I decided I would replace both the heater and air conditioner. I checked three references which all were excellent. The installers arrived on time. They were very professional, neat and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves, programmed my thermostat for me and explained some of the basic things I would need to know about the equipment. These are the reasons that I chose Five Star. The price was competitive. The references were excellent. I felt like Bill really cared to get me the right system and right size for my home. I felt good about the decision I made when I chose Five Star. Five Star Heating and Air is an excellent company. The employees are well educated on HVAC systems. The employees I have spoke with are very nice. They care about their customers and are trustworthy. I know without a doubt that I made the right choice by going with Five Star Heating and Air. I am happy to recommend them.

Shopped for a new furnace/AC for my home. I had 4 companies provide me quotes covering products from Lennox, Carrier and Trane. My criteria was weighted about 25% product, 25% price and 50% installer. I forced 'apples to apples' pricing the best I could and Internet researching put emphasis on installation. All brands were well rated but I took a liking to Trane products, from a technical standpoint and also that they had a stable and sensible product offering. I picked Five Star as the installer because they provided a comprehensive quote (Bill the salesman also does installations so he knows first hand what he is selling), they have been in business for 30 years, they were responsive to some follow up quote questions I had and they had clean ratings on Angies list and BBB.The installation is now complete and my experience was excellent. Five Star didn't have the best price but at the end of the day I had the good feeling a getting high value for what I paid. They arrived on time. Trucks and equipment looked first rate. Three guys did the install and all three were very well mannered, knowledgeable and throughout the install they took time to answer questions I had (which was a fair number!). They maintained and left my home and yard clean. Took one full day for the installation. Five Star took the responsibility to get rebates/refunds, I just paid one final price at the end of the day. They also registered my new products with Trane for the warranty. They pretty much took care of everything. Internet research was right, installation is critical. As my questions were answered and/or work explained during the installation I could easily see how others could cut corners, miss installation tricks based on years of service experience and/or re-use old components. I also noted how careful they were and how easy it would for a inconsiderate installer to cause damage to one's home.It is now August 2012 and weather is mild so I'm not yet using my new system therefore I cannot comment on performance or reliability. The system was of course run and checked out during final install and my initial observation was how significantly quiet the new systems are as compared to my 27 yr old system. I guess it should be but it was impressive. My install day was filled with a lot of positive attributes to the Five Star crew. I can highly recommend Five Star Heating and AC.

I have found them to be efficient. They work with the times you need them to come. They are really honest; they don’t sell you what you don’t need. I tend to always have the same guy that comes out, which I appreciate.

Very happy with the service provided. We lost our 20+ year old air conditioner in a bad storm that knocked out power in much of the Chicagoland area. Five Star was able to get a new Trane unit in the within two days. Since our system was so old, we decided to replace the furnace as well, including adding the Trane CleanEffects air filtration system and a Honeywell whole-house humidifier. We liked that they really listened to our needs/wants and didn't try to upsell products we didn't need. They were careful in measuring our house to ensure we had the appropriate-sized units and walked us through the rebates and required documentation we would need to claim them. In addition, they identified the need for an additional intake duct in the basement which was included as part of the installation. We were so happy with the sales call that we decided to also have them replace our 20+ year old water heater as well. We had a 75 gallon tank, but they set us up with a newer, smaller, more efficient tank that actually produces more hot water over a shorter period of time. The installation crew was extremely polite and friendly. They did an incredible job in the removal of the old system and clean-up of the work areas. The crew also did a very thorough walk-through of the system and all its features and how to use them. We felt very comfortable using the system once they left. Five Star schedules a follow-up appointment several weeks after the installation and, once again, we were very impressed with the quality of service. The technician identified that a larger breaker was needed in the circuit box which was quickly changed out. You're never happy when you have to replace a furnace, A/C and water heater, but Five Star provided excellent service and were true professionals in every aspect of the job. I look forward to using them to service our equipment for many years to come.

The water heater stopped working. I called Five Star because they installed my HVAC system and had serviced it since then. The normal service charge is $90 during the week, but they charge $125 for coming on a Saturday. I had them come out anyway, because I needed the system fixed. The technician comes out and immediately started the water heater. He said there was dirt in the bottom of the water heater and said it would be an additional $50 to clean it. I had them clean it and then the water heater wouldn't turn on. The technician said that a wire needed to be replaced and had one in the van. He replaced the wire and gave me the bill. It was $375 for the part and labor and he was in my home for less than an hour. I paid the technician and spoke with the owner of Five Star. I was credited back a portion of the charges, but this was the second time this company had charged outrageous prices for minor repairs.

This was the first time we used Five Star. I'm always a little apprehensive about the AC tune up since our unit is 20 years old. Dave showed up right on time and completed the service in about 40 minutes. fortunately everything check out ok. I could have gotten the service elsewhere for a few dollars less, but I appreciated the fact that he didn't try and sell me a new unit like has happened in the past. Will continue to use Five Star for our heating & AC service.

Excellent! We wanted to take advantage of the $1500 tax credit for high efficiency furnaces. We did our research and had six (6) heating contractors provide estimates. Five Star provided the best value for the money and product. They even beat ABT's price on the Trane furnaces. Bill was our salesman and was by far the most thorough of the bunch. The installer was also excellent -- very into the job! We have had a lot of work done on our new home so we know good experiences from bad. This was a terrific experience. Thanks!

I had five estimates by a variety of HVAC providers with a price range for the same basic work between $7700 and $9500. I chose Five Star because one of my basic philosophies of large residential purchases like this is "you get what you pay for" and I rarely go with the low bidder. Five Star's feedback on this list was very positive and they also came well recommended by a business associate. My trust in the list was well placed. The estimator who showed up was Bill and he did a nice job of listening to MY questions, answering MY questions and then offering his suggestions of how to solve the issues I had with the heat and AC in my home. He offered suggestions of things I hadn't considered and I ended up using several of his suggestions in the final project. He did a very thorough analysis of the size of my home to determine what size units to install. The installation was done by two other employees of Five Star. The guys were friendly and efficient and very respectful of my home and furnishings. They had runners down from the front door to the furnace room and kept them in place all through the work. I am not an HVAC professional but I am reasonably handy myself and by my estimation the installation and duct work was done very professionally and I have been pleased with the result so far. There were a couple of minor glitches and to me this is where Five Star stood out. How problems are handled speaks volumes to me about how an outfit is run. The wrong furnace was delivered in the morning and due to a family emergency of a five star employee earlier in the week, the village permit for the work was not pulled. I discovered the problem with the furnace and the permit in the first hour. A few phone calls to Ken at the shop confirmed the mistake with the furnace and Ken brought the correct one over within 1/2 hour - long before the guys were ready to install it. After talking over with Ken the permit issue I elected to run over to city hall and pull the permit myself although Ken offered to do it. At this point my radar was up for problems because we had discovered two problems early on in the installation and I didn't want any more hiccups in the permit process. I was paying for the permit one way or the other and pulling the permit myself only took 1/2 hour. The rest of the installation went off without a hitch and by late afternoon the installation crew was gone. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves and giving me a thorough introduction to the system. There were a few minor issues in the city inspection of the work but nothing that I considered to be a problem. Apparently the city had changed the code on a few minor things and none of the HVAC contractors were doing things exactly according to code because the village didn't let them know about the changes until after they took effect (this from the village inspector). The inspection issues were taken care of on the two week follow-up visit by five star. A service tech shows up two weeks after the install to inspect all of the installation work (and it was a thorough work up) and he spent a fair amount of time giving me more insight into all the features of the system and thermostat and how to best utilize them. I felt this was a nice touch. I would use Five Star again and recommend them as well.

Bill was very professional, punctual, and easy to work with. I had a lot of questions and he was very patient with me which I really appreciated. He was also very thorough and honest in his load calculations. (5 Star was the only company to bid the job that did any calculations.) The installers were punctual and finished the job in one long day (13 hours). They had quite a few holes to drill thru concrete block and brick in order to accompany the high efficiency requirements of venting out the side of the house along with relocating the A/C. Overall we were very satisfied with the sales and installation. We were a little disappointed in the follow through. Bill had told us that they would send another certified installer to check over the installation. I inquired of this when I had to call them to say that there were a few items on the village inspector's list that needed attention. They promptly set an appointment but I was under the impression that they were going to call me within the week of install to do so. We were also a bit disappointed over how things were handled with the warranty. The manufacturer states on their website that the units need to be registered within the first sixty days of install. I asked Bill if they do this or if we need to. He said 5 Star would handle it. After not hearing from the manufacture for 45 days I called to see if they had record of our registration and they did not. Now, whether 5 Star was working on it or going to work on it I have no idea but a phone call letting us know the status would have been appropriate. When the village inspector came he was impressed by the quality of the outdoor vent they chose as well as the outdoor disconnect for the A/C. He said other companies often chose the cheaper route for these items. Despite some minor complaints we were very satisfied.

Five Star gave us the best advice, the best price, and were professional throughout the sales and installation process. We had technical issues with several of the elements installed (a controller for the water heater and a home vaporizer) and they quickly remedied / switched out the defective parts with absolutely no haggling. We continue to have 5-star perform periodic maintenance on our system and recommend them to our friends in search of their services.

It went great - John did the installation. Arrived on time, answered our questions, etc. The used 5 year old unit runs great, and hopefully will last a while.

Bill took the time to talk with us and inspected our old system, then gave us an estimate and recommended the system we eventually purchased. He answered all our questions and was very professional and friendly. Within a week of giving the OK, the new systems were ready to be installed. John and Dave were extremely friendly, courteous and professional installers. They put down cloths to protect our floors, worked practically non-stop in less than ideal conditons and managed to remove our old system and install the new one in less than 8 hours. They explained the entire system to us and took the time to answer all our questions. The entire staff at 5 Star are responsive and helpful. We were very impressed. If you need a new furnace or A/C, you can't go wrong with 5 Star

They were professional, courteous, and very helpful in making this grand decision. We are very pleased with their workmanship and will continue to call them for any service we need. They also replaced the duct work in our attic and the work was done quickly and professionally. Very pleased with their service! We had a Trane furnance and a Trane A/C installed.
