Dave and his crew came out and started digging up the rocks, dirt sand, and bricks. They repaired the wall using cement and roofing materials, fixed the drainage that was clogged and broken underneath the stone stairs, and repaired the paver above the retaining wall so now sand and dirt will not wash though the retaining wall and clog the drain down the stair. I waited over a year to make this report to make sure there's no problem with the work and there is none.Very professional and detailed . Great work .

My neighbor also wanted them to remove some of the sod in her backyard and mix in compost to make a flower bed. We asked Dave to coordinate the two jobs on the same day. My neighbor sent in the signed proposal but I didn't get a chance to do so. One morning both my neighbor and I were surprised by phone messages saying they were coming after noon. I quickly faxed them my signed proposal. The crew arrived at my place about 1:15pm. I showed them where they could pile the compost. Dave arrived 15 minutes later and went through it with them again. They then walked over to my neighbor's. The work started around 2pm and ended around 4pm. The compost was shoveled into wheel barrels and dumped where I told them to. After the delivery, they cleaned up the dust and fallen chunks.

We didn?t use them but they did a great job. In retrospect, I think they were more responsive than the company I used when I called them. They were very professional, the guy showed up on time, and I thought he was very thorough when he showed us what he wanted to do.

Great results, and Dave is a great guy to work with. Should have gotten this work done sooner. He and his crew worked until sundown every night, until they got the job done.

Dave and his team are wonderful. Dave went out of his way on this project. He was very attentive to the needs of the project. His team showed up on time and worked very professionally and did a great job.

I was very impressed with the time Dave took and his professionalism in planning the work. None of the other landscapers who bid on the job gave as much thought to proper grading and drainage, or to the advantage of putting shade flower beds in areas that get very little sun. Also, Dave uses heavy-duty grading machinery that none of the others mentioned. None of the others thought to suggest a watering system either. Although his estimate was appx $500 higher than the others, it included more work and I felt the work would be well done. Dave's professionalism was evident throughout the installation -- on-time arrival, prompt call-backs to my phone calls, clean-up afterwards. He had a crew of two who were very competent. About a week after the sod was installed, two large sections of it turned brown. I called Dave and he was back two days later, replacing the sod with no questions asked. A month later, the lawn looks great, and the watering system continues to save me a lot of time.

Dave was very professional but he is very busy. He came to look at our property and recommended that we have a landscape designer make a plan for us before he did a lot of the work, which seemed like a good idea. We had a plan done, then Dave came and removed the existing junk shrubbery and sod and replaced the topsoil.

The owner was friendly and professional. He scheduled and completed the job within a few weeks of booking it. I would use this company again. My only complaint is that they didn't use landscaping fabric around the new plants and re-used the existing dirt, which was full of weeds. Now the weeds are back again with a vengeance.

Our experience with them was all very good. They got back to us quickly, came out within a day to give an estimate, and performed the work the following day.

They came out last year and they are coming out again to do some work for me. I cannot remember the cost. I would use them again.

Overall, they did a great job. They were very careful and did real well. They are probably not the least expensive, but they definitely seemed to know what they were doing.

DLS was a pleasure to work with. Before he even gave me a quote, Dave did a lot of preliminary legwork with the City of Evanston to determine what would be the best approach for the project. It was this highly personal touch that sold me on using DLS. It took a while to actually get all the work done because of the amount of rain we had during the spring, but I am really pleased with the end result.

Sent the Company an email thru their "Quick Quote" link on their website inquiring about landscaping maintenance on Feb 11. Never heard back from anyone. Business must be good. This lack of response is the reason I'm in the market for a new landscape company. I guess I'll be spending my $1500 annual landscaping budget with someone else.

We contacted DLS in May and work was done over a period of several weeks to accommodate work being done by other contractors during that time. The owner, Dave Swanson, was polite, prompt and professional. He made several excellent recommendations as to landscaping and followed through with the ones we decided upon. The yard looks terrific. We plan on having him return next year to perform additional work on our back yard.

I like working with them quite a bit. They do a good job and show up promptly. They will come back to plow more than once a day if needed. They also shovel the sidewalks. They just do a really good and clean job overall. They are efficient and reliable. This is our second year using them.

They have not finished the work yet but they have been good so far.

Dave came out for an estimate first and took a lot of time discussing our issues of trying to reduce water coming into the basement and also redoing the landscaping in the front of the house. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with and was confident about the underground drainage to be installed and the grading of the soil. His estimate came in much more reasonable than other estimates. He gave us an honest response as to when he could do the work and came promptly to the date he had given for work to begin. His three workers worked extremely hard and were very efficient. They cleaned up afterwards and left no mess behind. Dave came to check on their progress each day and did some work himself. He came up with a more cost effective way of fixing our sidewalk which saved us hundreds of dollars. He also noticed some other small problems, such as placement of our window wells, which he repaired as he felt this may help with our water problem as well. Dave had good suggestions about plantings for our front bed and took a lot of time discussing design ideas. He was also available to discuss any questions I had about the plants after he finished the job. He checked in recently to see how our new system was working. We have had a lot of rain this month and so far, no water in our basement. I will definately consider using this company again for further work in the future.

Despite the work having to stop several times due to Spring rains, the various parts of the job went well and I am pleased with the results. Dave knew I was on a budget and tried to stay within it; the final cost was close to the original estimate. Two months after the job was completed, I noticed a capstone was loose and left a message. It was fixed the next day.

They planted 14 ardisia along the property line, installed a drain tunnel, removed a tree stump and planted a tree in our front yard. It was a good experience with them and they did a great job.

We had a terrible water drainage problem ever since we moved into our home 15 years ago. We had another company install french drains several years ago, but the problem was only partially taken care of; and after a just a few years, the drainage deteriorated to the point where we were right back where we started--pools of standing water in the yard...a family of mallard ducks moved in every spring (I'm not kidding). Dave, who has taken care of our lawn for years, suggested a different way to address the problem: digging several deep pits to hold water, using solid pipe instead of the flexible pipe used by the other company, etc. We quickly decided to give it a try and could not be happier. Even with the heavy rains that have occurred since, cause area flooding, we have no standing water and our yard is dry within hours of the rain stopping. We had honestly decided to get flood insurance to cover the possibility of the water pouring into the basement window wells, but it was very expensive. Dave gave us a permanent solution for a very reasonable price.

Fabulous! Patio is perfect--flows with beautiful curves. Especially like rounded back step.

Dave Swanson of DLS was very polite and is very detailed; he wants the job done right and has the equipment to achieve this. His workers were polite and were knowledgeable. Dave stayed in contact with me at all times and gave me his personal cell number. The PATIO turned out better than my expectations; he suggested different solutions to my drainage problem. It is now repaired. Now I don't mind when it rains. Dave has everything sloping away from the house. He dealt closely with the village inspectors, and they approved his work upon examination. My thought is, you get what you pay for. It might have been a little more expensive than what I anticipated; however, I don't have to hire another company to correct a mistake. Dave knows what he is doing. Also, he's honest. There were some things on the job I didn't notice; for example, Dave said we are going to change that one brick; "I don't like how it matches." That impressed me. Most workers would have ignored it. GOOD JOB DAVE! By the way, Dave encouraged us to look at other jobs he was working on; this helped very much.

We went through about 10 landscape estimates and chose DLS based on reviews from Angie's List that talked about his quality of work. His estimate was in the middle. Although our work was pushed back due to rain and other projects he was working on, DLS is worth the wait. Dave (the owner) promised everything that he said he would. The workers are very dilligent. DLS is a trustworthy company.
