It took a little longer to get the job started than I had wanted. Some of the delay was the weather affecting his other jobs and pushing ours back. Once the job was started everything went well. It might be a good idea to have a completion date in the contract.

It was a conversation & no work was performed. I appreciate the help DLS provided. I rate the help & honesty he provided an "A" because he followed up quickly & was very up front with what DLS was able to do / not do & then helped me with some suggestions of other services to try (honest ones). I recently purchased a house that has overgrown and tired landscaping and am looking to re-do the entire yard. Based on Angie List reviews, I called DLS on two separate occasions. Both times an answering machine and/or service answered and instructed me to leave a message for a return call. Each time, I indicated I was looking to re-do my entire landscape, was in need of a design consultation and bid, and left all my contact information. Three weeks later, I am still waiting for DLS to return my call. I am amazed that in this economic climate, or any economic climate for that matter, a company would simply not return the call of a potential client. Even if DLS has more business than it can schedule right now, my calls should have been returned. Not only is it common courtesy, it's good business. If DLS can't be bothered to return the calls of a potential client, what else can't they be bothered to do for their current clients?

I contacted Dave about 1 month before the project began. He came out, discussed the various drainage issues we were having, and drew up a plan and prepared a quote, all during the same visit. All of the work occurred over approximately 2 weeks; heavy rains caused some delays, but Dave and his crew did a great job working around the weather issues. No problems at all to speak of during the period of getting all of this work done; the DLS team did a great job minimizing damage and kept things as clean as possible. Given the scope of work (essentially a complete redo of the landscaping for > 1/2 of the lot), I was very impressed about how quickly everything got done. The results have been great: 1. our drainage problems appear to be solved, 2. the formerly run-down back yard now looks fantastic 3. all of the various flower and plant beds are cleaned up and have a fresh layer of mulch We're extremely happy with how this project turned out, and recommend DLS to anyone looking for landscaping services.

I requested work before his season began and a few days before the work was to begun, he asked if the work could be postponed a week since his regular crews would not yet be reporting to work that early in the season. He said that he would make sure I was happy ., but that he would accommodate me if I needed work done prior to his season beginning. I agreed to postpone the work a week and he lived up to the deal - 4 guys working 10 hours made a huge impact on my landscaping. They went way beyond the original agreement, probably because of the postponement, to include lawn cleanup: sweeping leaves off of my lawn, off of the beds, and fixing the bedding borders (aligning individual bricks). The patio which had settled considerably and looked bad, turned out beautiful after they finished. I'm very pleased with the results, and glad that I waited until his regular crew was available when his season officially began. I talked to Dave, and discovered that he has been a professional landscaper working with hired hands since he was a teenager, so although he's young, he's been in the business for many many years. He's committed to his business, which is reflected in the quality of the workmanship, his respect for his customers, and how he treats his crew.

Dave came out one evening and we discussed a few possibilities for the yard. His bid was very specific - with each job broken down in materials and labor, so I could choose what I wanted to get done and what I might decide to wait on. Dave emailed three or four bids before we finally settled on just what I wanted. He was very responsive. This was a really extensive "spring cleanup" - the yard was a disaster. In addition, the area to be resodded needed some pretty serious prep work and we had several large beds to be mulched. Dave and his crew did a fabulous job. My yard is almost unrecognizable. I initially thought the bid was high, but it was worth every penny - they did far more work than I expected. Thanks!

He sounds like he just doesn't need any more business. Despite his ad of weekly maintenance, he claimed he will only do that for his customers that also have hardscaping done through him.

They have done an excellent job and I have never had to deal with the snow myself. We have been very satisfied. We have had not one problem. We had one of the worst winters in 20 years, and we never had one problem throughout the rest of the year.

Great, competitive pricing, completed all aspects within agreed upon time frame and very helpful from start to finish.

Second time I've used this company this year and was completely satisfied with the quality and professionalism of Dave Swanson and DLS Landscaping. DLS came out and had the project completed within 2 hours. Great Job! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for what I believe is the best landscaping company out there.

Dave was great and we're confident he would've done a great job. He really knows his business and is dedicated to getting the job done right. However, we found another landscaper that we were also confident in that gave us a better deal.

Overall project was done very professionally. Work crew arrived on morning of specified day and worked till 6:00 PM. Job was finished by 3:00 PM the next day. The work crew did a thorough job in cleaning up. The new walls are 100% better than the old and enhance the property.

Dave, the owner, answered the phone when I called, he was polite and promptly made an appointment to come see my yard and to give an estimate. I am trying to sell my house and seems my yard/backyard view is not something easily overlooked in a buyers market- hard layout and a horrible view of a neighbors yard, that looks like a junk yard with run down sheds. So, presented with the difficult task to help solve this, Dave thought of the landscape plan described in the estimate. But, he also came up with another alternative non-landscaping way that we could do instead, that would be cheaper for us, since we are doing this just to help sell our house. I thought that really showed a guy that is trying to do a decent job for people, not just out to make as much $ as he can. Although we really like the alternative idea, I really wanted to do the trees, we might be here for a while in this housing market, and I would like to change the view for me! Besides, I like seeing green outside year round! So, we had plans to go ahead with landscaping, until something critical on our home broke, forcing us to reallocate the landscape money toward fixing that problem. But, if we decide in the future to go ahead with the landscape, we won't hesitate to give DLS a call to do the work.

Quite well. The estimate was reasonable and the proposed plan was fine.

I received calls about the approximate time the work would be done depending on the weather. When the day came for the work to be done, I was told what time they would come and how long they would stay. They had to return a second day and again I was given the work time and what would be done that day. They cleaned up after themselves. Dave called me after to see if I was pleased. What really impressed me, was that he called several weeks later after a big storm, to see if I had any water seepage, which I did not.

They only sent one man and it took him all day but he did a very good job. Everything was cleaned up beautifully.

From the start Dave was honest and helpful. Dave helped us with design and recommendations for our new brick patio, sitting wall and fire pit. Once we had our design his crew arrived and I have never seen a crew who worked so well together. They had a level of detail that is second to none. I have to admit that there were points during the installation that I thought that my yard would never get put back together. But after 4 days the patio, sitting wall and fire pit were completed, and it looks better than either me or my wife could ever have imagined. I would highly recommend Dave for any landscaping work.

I originally called DLS when we planned on attempting to install a yard drainage system ourselves and needed gravel delivery. Dave discussed the project with me and made some recommendations. Soon afterward, my husband and I decided not to attempt the project ourselves and several weeks passed. Dave actually called me back soon after to see how it had gone. I was surprised and pleased by his follow-up, so we decided to have him come and estimate the project himself. He came to our house and thoroughly checked out our yard and discussed our problems. He offered several alternatives in different price ranges and made some additional recommendations that we hadn't considered. He seemed knowledgeable about drainage solutions as well as city codes. We chose to have DLS install three drainage wells in our yard and a catch box and drain from the corner of our house. The project took two days to complete and Dave did check out his crew's work carefully. At the end of the project, we expressed concern that one drain did not sit flush with the ground (posing a tripping hazard for our children). Dave returned the next business day to fix the problem. We've had two rain storms since and the solutions have significantly improved our drainage. Dave and his crew were friendly and polite and I would hire them again.

I needed a large flowerbed removed on the side of my home, needed new topsoil, grading, new sod, a tree stump removed and 15 arborvitae trees planted. I spoke to Dave Swanson and received an estimate the next day. Dave was professional, kind and courteous. I could tell right away that he really knew what he was doing. He knew exactly the work that I wanted done and knew the best way to do it. Dave answered all the questions I had about the project very clearly and honestly. A week after receiving my estimate, they were at my house doing the work. When Dave and his crew showed up, they were completely organized. COMPLETELY! Dave and his crew had all the necessary tools. Everyone in the neighborhood was so impressed with the final outcome as well as the way they were so organized, professional and friendly. They did a fantastic job and the work they did looks beautiful. Several weeks later my neighbor asked me for Dave's contact information. DLS did some drainage work them. This company was top of the line! This was the best company I ever hired and I recommend them to everyone! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH OTHER LANDSCAPERS! HIRE THE BEST! HIRE DLS LANDSCAPING!

Contacted DLS via email, and Dave was very quick to call me and answer questions. Aeration was performed on schedule and done well. However, it was my understanding that an invoice would be left on the door, and it wasn't. Never received an invoice in the mail.

We knew the approximate time the company was to come. We waited at home, the company came when they were supposed to. (Even though it was the 3rd of July). They did their job with little time wasted. Our yard was cleared with no mess left, and nothing for the garbage man to clean up later.

It looks great! We were operating within a budget, and owner Dave Swanson gave us some options to incorporate some of the existing stone to save money. His staff was very polite and professional.

DLS Landscaping exceeded our expectations in all areas. Not only did owner Dave Swanson give us good ideas to improve our landscaping within our budget, his staff was very polite and professional. Dave and his staff went out of their way to meet a time line we had established based on a daughter's baptism party... rain delays pushed the project back until the day before our targeted completion date... Dave's staff worked until it was dark out to complete most of the project. When the foreman said they'd have to come back to finish the final few hours of work at a later date on account of darkness, I had no idea I'd awaken the next day to find their trucks in front of our house with his team putting the final touches on the job the morning before our party. I would definitely recommend this firm to anyone.

I got an estimate. It was about 1500 dollars or so, and we went ahead with it. They severed a cable line. We're still trying to get that fixed. They did a good job for the cleanup. They also put in some plants and mulch, but it was mostly maintenance work.
