Custom Built Fence & Deck

Well let me start by saying that all my interactions with Mr.Tomassone have been pleasant. I just haven't been able to get his company to finish some details on a deck that"custom built"did for us.Deck was finished late April I believe, and after COUNTLESS REQUESTS ( last one sent in late July) we just can't seem to get his crew back to resolve them.Not sure what's going on since he promised resolution but stopped responding to my emails.So as of last week I emailed him to let him know Im done and I will attempt repairs on my own.No response as of 8/31/23.Attached please view photos of unresolved details.The top rail which is a focal point of deck is very poorly finished.Job was fully paid for and I expected better from Mr.Tommasone and his company. I requested a written proposal on June 13, 2017 for installation of the arbor swing in late summer. I've never received a proposal nor a reply to my email.

Spoke to them about a month ago. They said they would come out to give me an estimate, after about two weeks passed I called back and left a message. I never heard from them.

Didn't get past the phone call. I sent an email via your site and told them what I wanted and if they did work in the N//W side of Chicago.. They responded with a number to call and a person to talk with. (Karen). I called and spoke to Karen and asked if some would come out and look at the job and give me Ann estimate. She responded that I should send her a drawing of what I wanted and pictures of the type of fence I wanted. She also wanted pictures of the existing fence. I asked again if someone could come out and give me an estimate. She said no, we don't want to go that far and "be shocked by our price" She stated that they don't use fencing from big box companies and it costs more. Being she was unwilling to give me an estimate on this project, I ended the call. The reason I went through angies list was because I was reminded today that my $35 subscription was due for angies list. I really haven't used the service much in the past so I thought I would try it again. I am very disappointed on my first try. All I wanted to know if they did work in my area and to give me an estimate. I contacted other companies thru google and they simply complied. I believe I have made up my mind about angies list

Rating a business on how well they do, under perfect conditions, is a no-brainer. The true test of a company's value, is how well they perform when faced with complications on the job. First off, we had a week of extremely bad rain and flooding, which caused a backlog and huge logistic problems for them. We also had trouble locating the property markers, avoiding a storm sewer line and some dead trees, which were in the way, had to be removed. So, the 2 day job lasted several days beyond what we had hoped for. But, in the end, we were delighted with the results. Even as we pressed them on time constraints, they were professional and accommodating. In fact, we were shocked to find the crew, rather than going home, after finishing other jobs, showing up at 5 PM and working tirelessly, until after dark, to ease our anxieties. Karen and John came out and listened to all of our concerns, prior to beginning work. Our garden was not trampled, our neighbors were not inconvenienced and our fence is absolutely beautiful. I contacted 4 companies with my specific needs. Custom's bid was very competitive and that would have been enough for me. But, I selected Custom, because I like people that I can work with and Karen and John are great people to deal with. So, yeah, how can you lose? Good owners/managers, skilled crews, good pricing and a good response to adverse weather conditions and time constraints. Bottom line, Custom Built Fence & Deck was my selection and they are your best choice.

We had a great experience with Custom Built Fence and would highly recommend them! I had received 4 different estimates for our deck and John was extremely thorough, worked within our budget and our time frame. The home we purchased was a foreclosure and unfortunately they had let the deck go for many years. My husband demoed the deck and Custom Built rebuilt and made improvements along the way. John answered his phone every time I called and explained everything in detail, there were no surprises. I did have to check out the work each day to make sure things were exactly what we wanted and each time we had a change, they were happy to oblige. Our deck is gorgeous and it turned out better than expected.
