Anix, Inc. is a General Contractor and a family owned, operated, designed and built company for Illinois. We pride ourselves in High Quality Craftsmanship from New Construction to Remodeling to Handyman services. When we come out to your home to give you an estimate, we will speak to You regarding your thoughts and ideas and then design a custom layout for You. I will not tolerate anything, but quallity from the people, who work for my company. We use just licensed subcontractors. Since we are a small company you will pay less with us. We don't have any large overheads. You will receive high quality craftsmanship at a lower cost to you. On a typical job, you can save up to 30% the same work at a more affordable cost. And because we are a small company, you may have to wait a week or two for a construction starting date. The sooner you schedule your free estimates and make your decision, the sooner we can begin working. We're located in a Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. We're Licensed, Bonded and Insured. Your satisfaction is my goal and your happy smile, when you see the finished project, is what I strive for. The construction of the deck went great. Anix and the owner Joe Roller are top quality builders that were always on time, cleaned up after themselves and did a great job. The deck came out beautiful! I will definelty use Anix again, and I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I had a deck built in my yard by Anix Inc.
Joe and his team did a great job on our bathroom remodel project. It was a total gut rehab job, which included replacing some of our old galvanized steel plumbing. It looks beautiful now! Everyone arrived timely, and they were professional. Pricing was fair - what we were expecting to pay. Communication with Joe was great - I've already recommended him to several other people.

Joe and his team did an outstanding job, going above and beyond for this challenging project. The stairwell looks fantastic, and functions as expected, both for drainage and for safety in using the steps. The door is a significant upgrade - unlike the past 7 years, we actually now use the door. And the drain system appears to be working as expected, as of this writing, no issues since work was completed. I will add that Joe really cares about serving the customer, and getting the work done correctly. One anecdote - in the middle of the project, while the stairs were under construction and the drain work not yet completed, we were hit with a major, unexpected rain storm. Joe came to our house, on his own initiative, after 900pm, to check the tarps and such to ensure they were secure, and also installed quickly a temporary spout to carry any excess water away from the house. All was well, and we were quite pleased. We have used Joe now for several projects around our home - some small, one quite large (this one) and some in between - all have turned out terrific. We will continue to use Anix for our home improvement projects.
Description of Work: Multiple projects wrapped into one major project - issue was water getting into basement through basement door area - due to poor quality of door, drain and base being level to door outside, and drain running toward, rather than away from house. So - existing stairway down to basement door needed to be demolished and replaced, base lowered below level of bottom of entry door, water drainage line added from drain to go away from house, and replacement of the back door.

I would highly recommend Joe and Anix! From the initial meeting I could tell he was knowledgeable, honest, and thorough! Joe made sure things were done right and has an eye for asethics. For example he used an appropriate dry wall for the lower half in case we got seepage (without us even asking) and advised me to do oak instead of carpeted stairs to match our upstairs hardwood and avoid 3 disjointed finishes. I was so thankful they made sure I had laundry while the work was being done and that we now have another space for entertainment, play, and working out!
Anix builders and Joe Roller have helped us remodel several homes and the results have always been oustanding! Joe and his team are professional, skilled , honest and punctual. We have worked with many contractors on various projects but Joe and his team are a big step above the rest. Their quality and craftmanship is top notch and backed by excellent service. Our home gets compliments like "model home - whoa - WOW - picture perfect" just to name a few. If you have a home remodeling project I would highly recommend that you hire Joe Roller with Anix Buidlers , you will be very happy with the results. Thank you Joe!

Anix was recommended to us by friends after we had met with several other contractors. Right away we were impressed that the representatives from Anix brought 3D mock-ups of the proposed renovations to our initial meetings. Additionally, Anix brought to our attention several potential issues (that later turned out to be true) that were not raised by other contractors. Despite this, Anix's estimate was competitive with the other estimates we received. We were very pleased with the quality of work performed by the Anix team as well as their responsiveness and ability to manage expectations. As this was our first major remodel, we were very appreciative of the additional time the Anix team took to work with us. While there are always surprises in large projects like these, the Anix team did an excellent job of keeping to budget. We intend to use Anix again on future renovations.

Contacted Anix through Angie’s List and they were prompt and punctual. Came to the house to look around to replace all interior doors and trim, slight basement remodeling plus building a small basement office. He left and said it would be a few days for a quote and now it’s been over a month and nothing. I contacted them to make sure they had the correct email to send the quote and no response.

Excellent. Arrives on time, discusses project thoroughly with all options noted. Work quality is terrific - new overhead light installation done primarily through the ceiling from the attic, so very little impact to our ceiling, nothing visible, and the light looks terrific. Joe even installed a dimmer, which brings more to this light project. Light looks great, ceiling looks untouched - just great work. Drywall downstairs in great shape as well - ready for painting. Also does a great job cleaning up after work is complete, nary a sign of anything left behind. Highly recommend Anix for your home projects. We have other projects upcoming, and will be using Anix for those as well.
Description of Work: We have used Anix previously for other projects, with great results. Joe is terrific. This time, 2 different projects - one is drywall repair, the other installation of an overhead decorative light in our dining room.

Overall the job went great. They were able to start right away and finished a week ahead of schedule. I would hire Anix again for other projects.
Description of Work: Refinish a bathroom, hardwood floors and replace baseboard heaters
He installed a egress window and a full dug out of the perimeter of the basement. re plumbed it to go out to the back yard so there no more flooding. He also trimmed the entire basement. Installed flooring and a sink in the bathroom. They even had to replace asphalt by the neighbors for the plumbing and replaced it when done. They also replaced a fence they had to move while working. They left everything looking better then when they started. His prices are reasonable and his quotes better then others. He will take a job from beginning to end. He took the time so it looked like a custom builder did the work. Many days my son would just leave them the keys. They were great to work with, super polite. Really really good people to work with. You could leave your kids with them, not that you would but they were trustworthy people. Never worried about any issues. I have referred them to people. We worked with him very well.

Terrific. Joe was great to work with on all fronts - prompt on first meeting, quickly provided an estimate, and again prompt for both days of the scheduled work. The backsplash looks amazing - kitchen looks like an entirely new kitchen. Joe took care of everything from set up to clean up, and every step in between. Extremely friendly, offered great suggestions, and did a terrific job. We will absolutely seek out Anix for other future projects.

Joe did come out at the scheduled time and spent an hour or so understanding what my goals were, discussing options, and taking measurements. I was feeling pretty good about Anix being a serious option at that point. I recognized later that night that the location Joe had envisioned for my new shower was not going to work due to the location of overhead HVAC ducts, so I emailed him to mention that we'd need to re-think that, and that I already had an alternative I'd like to discuss (and factor into his proposal). It's now been 4 weeks and several attempted contacts later, and Anix has not responded to my calls or email, and I still have no proposal in hand. I would have appreciated a simple "after thinking further we're not interested in submitting a proposal" type response so I could have kept on my time line.
Description of Work: I requested a quote/proposal to convert an upper level walk in closet to a laundry room, then expand and completely remodel a lower level bathroom that (1) currently houses the laundry area, and (2) had sustained some water damage due to a roofing leak and plumbing issue.

Joe came for a quote. He was very polite (not at all condescending, which has been my experience in the past with contractors) and straight-forward. His quote was reasonable, and he started the job with a 50% deposit. He and an assistant came and completed the job quickly and well over 3 days. He was patient with our requests. Joe does seem busy, and sometimes e-mails get lost. But, I would definitely use Anix again, and I plan to!
Description of Work: We needed our IKEA kitchen installed, as well as baseboards, windows and door trim, and a few small jobs around the house.
This job started out as a quote for a kitchen renovation on a home that our son purchased. He was busy at work so he gifted me the liberty to choose colors and the trims for the kitchen, bath and bedrooms. The kitchen was pretty antiquated with some 80's oak cabinets and old grungy floor and appliances. He originally budgeted to have this work done before he actually took ownership so that he would have a decent kitchen that he could begin using and update the living room, bath and bedrooms at a later date. He had planned to use another company (I found) to restore the original hardwood floors that were hidden under the old carpet. He would paint the living room and bedrooms and any other updates when he had time. That was the plan. Honest! So when Joe came to give an estimate (he was one of three), we pointed out what our sons needs and wants were and we walked Joe through the first floor to show him what we were working with. We agreed to him taking measurements of the other rooms other than just the kitchen, for possible future work on these areas. When we received the estimate, He had quoted the kitchen renovation with the new cabinets we chose, granite cost was blank because this would be and additional cost based on our choice, other costs included of removal of soffits and updating all electric and plumbing, installing all cabinets, sink, installing and hook up appliances, a new island with cabinet and granite, backsplash, flooring, lighting, painting and trim. In addition, Joe added in the costs for his people to remove carpet, sand and stain hardwood floors, trim and paint the other rooms, add crown moulding/trim and paint to the living room, hall and three bedrooms. He also threw in a very attractive price to tile the bathroom, the tub area, new vanity, lighting, etc. We realized that after putting a pencil to it, that his quote made so much more sense for a few different reasons. 1) While they would be in the empty home demolishing the kitchen and creating a mess, we would have to figure when to have the hardwood floor guy come in between his people. This would have delayed one of these jobs 2) His people do hardwood floors and they were going to do the kitchen floors anyway during renovation. They could transition the wood in the floors between kitchen and living room if necessary and then repair, sand and stain it within their schedule, rather than having someone else do it. The bathroom was a no brainer. The price was good and we jumped on that. So this renovation was for a small ranch home total kitchen, living room, bath and 3 bedrooms. A couple other things: He quoted to install insulation in the attic and replace broken attic fan. I think the quote included a solar vent. We also had him replace two exterior doors and paint them. I'll try to keep this part brief: Joe gave us an estimated start date. After getting permits pulled, his guys started very close to the estimated date. Keep in mind that we were not living in the house during the renovation, so that may have something to do with us having a less stressful in house renovation. During renovation, they realized that some of the walls they were tearing into were plaster and not drywall, it was messy and more time consuming and added a few extra demo days to the schedule. They did it with good humor and no complaints. Joe kept us on board with work updates with daily emails. If we called, he answered his phone. He always got back to us with any changes or questions usually at the end of his day, but always the same day. He was incredibly easy to work with as were his people. They were hard workers, honest, kind and had a work ethic you don't see much anymore. We have had contractors in the past and I have to say, this project gave us very little headache. Maybe it was the communication or the personalities of Joe and his crew, but they were incredibly easy to work with. If there was anything that Joe needed, we tried to get it to him. If we had questions about changing something, his response usually was "whatever you want". If something came up and he needed an answer, we tried to give him one immediately so not to hold up the job. We went out to pick out the granite at his supplier. He emailed us the prices of the our 5 original choices soon after. When we realized our favorite choice was the most expensive, we tried to pick something else that was more cost effective and it turned out to be pretty ugly in person. Joe was very patient (I would have slapped me) while we tried to find something in a color that wasn't on the high end. If he was annoyed, he didn't show it. I'm a bargain shopper and I try to get tile and lighting fixtures at good prices, too. So, we'd drop off the tile and lights and Joe never question choices or quality of anything. His people would put it all together and made it look great! The kitchen and bathroom look really nice. They are as nice, mostly better that all the updated houses we saw while looking at homes with our son to purchase. I will try to upload pictures of before and after on this site. I need to transfer them to this computer first. Joe and his crew can do anything you need done. I was amazed and he's fairly humble in regards to that. He doesn't up charge things and he will give you a quote on anything you need done and it will be your best price, but he doesn't throw jobs in your face. He gives you the best price and best work you'll find. His finishing work is beautiful and his attention to detail is as good as it gets! As for he and his work crew, I would trust them alone with my pets or young children! We will be using him again!!
Description of Work: Full kitchen renovation -- we had other rooms quoted and work done on them; the original plan was for kitchen only.

I contacted Anix for a plumbing situation at my Mom's house while she was out of town. She was getting a lot of water in her finished basement. I had contacted 3 other plumbers along with Joe from Anix, all 3 plumbers wanted to tear up the basement and install new drain tile. All 3 estimates were around the same amount $8,000.00. When Joe from Anix came over he said he didn't think it was the tiles at all, and said I should contact the Village. He walked around the property and looked at everything, he was there for quite a while, but the entire time he was sure the issue wasn't drain tiles. When he left he contacted me later on and ask me to send a video of the water coming in, so he could review it further. The following Monday I contacted the Village and they assisted with the issue and we've never had another drop of water in the Basement. Joe had gone completely above and beyond offering his knowledge and assistance. He was the only one that told me truth! He saved my Mother who is on a fixed income several thousands of dollars! I wouldn't hesitate contacting Joe again if I ever need his assistance in the future.

Joe and his team from Anix were great to work with. Joe met with us to plan out our kitchen redesign and we felt he asked all the right questions to get as much detail about the project up front to get us a good estimate. The estimate was very competitive, fair, and definitely worth the end result! His team was always on time and Joe was very responsive. The communication throughout the project was great. During the project the team found a couple of roadbumps along the way, but Joe was always very fair and up front about any additional work needed to be done. In a big project like this, we knew that finding unexpected obstacles along the way was inevitable, but we were very happy with the way Joe and team adjusted and communicated these with us. Long story short, the kitchen looks great, all members of the team were very nice and professional, and we wouldn't hesitate to give Anix a call with any other projects we have in our future.

We needed to build an 8' kitchen island with a sink, dishwasher and IKEA cabinets. I already framed some of it out and put together the cabinets. Many carpenters refuse to work with IKEA cabs so we were happy Joe said there wouldn't be a problem. However, Mike said it wasn't right and rebuilt it the right way and roughed in the plumbing. Joe worked with us very hard to choose and install our granite. However, Joe was much more expensive than a granite guy we've used before. So, we went with our former granite guy. Mike installed an IKEA countertop, sink and rough plumbing for the guest bath. Looks great. Mike was always polite and hard working. Since I was using IKEA plumbing fixtures with old pipes and an IKEA sink cabinet with drawers, Mike struggled. He probably spent too much time working on it, used up hours quickly and went way over budget on the guest bath. Our usual plumber was more familiar with the IKEA system was able to do the master bath in only 1 1/2 hours connecting the IKEA pipes with the old pipes. I don't fault Mike. He really tried to get it hooked up right in the guest bath but ultimately couldn't work with it and the cabinet. I will have to call our regular plumber to redo it. I should have stepped in sooner. Sadly, he couldn't install the dishwasher either because he said he would have needed a special tool. It remains unistalled inside the kitchen island. Mike couldn't finish the job because the electric for the island needed to be done by my electrician and the range hood I wanted him to install needed different electric connectors again, I had to call my electrician for that which is understandable because I had to make sure everything is code. I still have some more work for him to do and will not hesitate on second on calling Joe again and asking for Mike. Joe and Mike were great. Very honest, responsive and Joe went out of his way to please even if some of the work remains unfinished. We've had 2 contractors highly rated on Angie's List who turned out to be dishonest or awful. Not Anix. They are the real deal!
Description of Work: Joe Roller and his assistant Mike were a great help building our kitchen island with building kitchen island (rough) so granite countertops could be installed and installing the guest bathroom counter, sink and rough plumbing. He also did some basic window framing.

This is the fourth time that we have used Joe and his construction company Anix. I called Joe because we had no water coming out of the shower. Joe came over on his way home from another job, found the problem, and sent his workers to fix the problem the next morning. While fixing the shower, Anix installed a new bathroom fan with humidity sensor and repaired the bathroom ceiling and repainted it as well. What can I say, another job well done by Joe and his crew from Anix! Thanks Joe for the great and super fast work! I look forward to seeing you in the spring so we can get started on the fence project! Keep up the great work!
Description of Work: Find the cause of no water to shower, fix problem, install new bathroom humidity fan, humidity sensor switch, repair bathroom ceiling and repainted bathroom ceiling.
We initially purchased their contractor for a week special (40 workman hours). Before we did that, however, we called and they came out to the house to provide an estimate. Joe suggested that we purchase the deal and that the remainder of the work would cost approximately $1500. This cost included supplies and labor (minus the cost of the countertop, sink, and faucet, which I purchased), which I found helpful because we knew what our total cost would be. The work we had done included installation of new laminate countertops, new stainless steel sink, new sink faucet, new kitchen backsplash, repair and paint of ceiling drywall, painting of staircase walls, and new tile in our full bathroom. Joe asked if he could have two men working at the same time; in this way, the work would get done in 3-4 workdays instead of a week or more. They were fantastic- neat, respectful, punctual. They communicated their progress and any challenges along the way. It was a good price for the work and if I had work like this to have done again, Joe and his team would be first on my list. Thanks!

This was our third project using Anix, Inc., which indicates how extremely pleased we are with their work. Can you imagine handing the contractor the key to your house, leaving town, and just saying, "Make it pretty!" Trust in their abilities, workmen, and work ethics topped our list. We came home to a beautiful kitchen...actually, it is stunning! The little extras were evident everywhere and greatly appreciated. Neighbors seeing this recreation cannot believe how much bigger the kitchen looks and how enticing the updates made our home. Thank you, Joe and crew, for your dedication. We look forward to working with you again!
Description of Work: Our previous kitchen was gutted and re-installed with IKEA cabinets & countertops, which we paid for separately. Anix did the demolition, reworked the lighting to put in new cans, reworked the existing pantry to make it more usable, installed the new cabinets, painted, put the backsplash tiles in place and re-grouted tiles on the floor to blend. A new kitchen dream was created!
