I appreciate choosing us for your masonry project and a positive feedback!
Description of Work: I would HIGHLY recommend Robert to anyone anytime on any day. Robert was the third contractor we had come out and give us an estimate on our chimney crown. The thing you have to realize and appreciate about this man, first and foremost, is his honesty. You don’t find this level of integrity in business much anymore. He pointed out things that had been overlooked by the previous two companies and he told me that the other ‘repairs’ recommended by the other companies weren’t needed at all and that someone was trying to make a quick buck off of us. It would have been so easy for him to take us for a ride and rip us off but he didn’t. He explained what needed to be done and showed us pictures and explained how everything works with a chimney and why he needed to do what he did. He came out Saturday and we had his proposal on Sunday, which we accepted. He and his crew were there promptly the following Saturday and replaced the top 2ft of the flu and poured a solid one piece crown as well as replacing several bricks that were deteriorated. Three days later, he came out and took down the forms and caulked and sealed everything. His work is prompt and impeccable. His attention to detail is second to none. When I need to tuckpoint my house, I’ll only be making one phone call and it will be to Roberts Masonry.

Description of Work: Robert was very professional and explained everything that would need to be done, using pix of previous jobs as visual aids. My chimney looks great after the masonry rework and a new concrete cap was poured. He and his worker cleaned up after themselves, and he had the the best estimate out of the 3 I had got. I highly recommend Robert.

We had received several bids, but none of the companies seemed to be too interested in our project. Robert came out and quoted the job quite competitively and then to our astonishment offered, for a small fee, to coorect the work another company had done a few years ago incorrectly. They had tuckpointed a wall and our chminey and did not clean them properly with masonry acid. Robert was the only contractor who offered to do this. He also came up with a creative solution to fixing the top of our massive brick chimney. The solution cut his potential fee in half, but that enabled us to perform the job and correct a potentially dangerous situation. He came out three times measuring and quoting ideas. He always called and texted us as to wahen he was coming and was on time always. He provided his quotes in writing via email..instead of a scribble on a scrap of paper like one of his competitiors. When they did come out to perfom the work they were early and waited until the agreed upon start time before they began working. All the workers were very professional and courteous. Our chimney is two stories high and 6 feet or so wide. They had to remove a concrete cap that was over 15" thick of concrete and remove 8 or 9 courses of bricks that were falling apart. They set up their scaffolding and got to work. They kept the job neat and tidy. They cleaned up and the end of each of the two days so well you could not tell they were here. Their job site was kept safe for the workers and they had tarps everywhere to protect our property. There was so much debris to be hauled away on day one there was no room in the truck for their scaffolding. Robert asked if he might store this in our garage overnight...they thoroughly cleaned all the scaffolding and tools before they put anything in our garage!! The tuckpointing was done by two of his guys who you could tell were experienced and adept at their work. The next day he came back to remove the forms of the new massive custom cap and acid washed all his work including the work of a prior contractor. Again ontime and had texted me to let me know he was coming. He then again cleaned the job site spotless. I cannot begin to tell you how happy we are with his work and his price was very competitive! You won't go wrong having him work on your brick walls and chimney.
Description of Work: We had one enitre wall of our house tuckpointed which included replacing some 15 bricks. We also, had the top three feet + of our chimney demolished (it was falling apart) and a new custom chminey cap poured. We also had to two other walls washed properly with masonry acid that was not done correctly by a prior contractor.

Robert returned my original call the same day within an hour and came out to assess the problem later that very same day. He took a walk around the entire house and pointed out several possible problems and suggested several ways to go about resolving the problems on my own and even suggested materials that could be used to do so. He was very helpful in answering all of my questions and even pointed out a problem that I didn't even know existed on my fireplace chimney. He set up a time to commence the work on repairing the crack in the masonry wall and arrived on time to start the work. I was kept well informed of his progress on the job and he made sure that I was satisfied with the work that he had done before leaving and he made sure that everything was cleaned up. I felt that his price was very reasonable and I also made arrangements for him to come back and repair the two cracks that I have in the foundation of the house. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing any type of masonry work performed. It is refreshing to find someone who is so conscientious and hard working.
Description of Work: I needed to have several large cracks in my masonry wall repaired. Seven of the original bricks had cracked in half due to stress that had been placed on them from two cracks in the foundation. Robert replaced the broken bricks and patched the crack in the masonry which extended from the foundation in a zig zag fashion up to the soffit of my ranch style home.

Robert's General Masonry was a pleasure to work with....My 2 chimney's were crumbling... I had previously gotten another estimate from another company, and it was comprable in price. But the other estimate did not include acid wash or cleanup. So I went with Roberts. He did an excellent job. My brick is old, and no longer made... So matching the color was difficult. I didn't like the color on the first set he suggested, so he made another trip to get a better match. No complaining or whatever, even though it made for a second trip to the brick yard. And he then carefully preserved my old bricks, and mixed them in with the new, so that the repair blends in nicely.Lastly, he did the job quickly, professionally, and it looks great.I couldn't be more happy. I am going to use them again.
Description of Work: I had to have the top 3 rows of brick replaced on my 2 chimneys (they were crumbling), and get a new concrete top put on, with the hats for the flus. The house is old, and steep roof, with tall chimneys, but Robert was up to the job.

Just over priced. Choose another company.
Description of Work: Just wanted to drop a note about this company. They were very prompt and on time for their quote. Unfortunately his price was twice as much as three other quotes. It wasn't even funny how much more expensive his services were going to be. That even included the reduction in price for paying in cash.

A quick search of Angie's list showed that there were a number of contractors to select. After a review of comments, I added Robert to my own list to solicit for proposals. He quickly responded for a site inspection, worked up a quote, and most notably, kept interested and followed up with periodic (but not bothersome) courtesy calls to let me know he was still interested. When it came down to actually doing the work once the insurance check was processed, he continued to coordinate with me to get the work done quickly and efficiently. Seriously, I have no complaints with his demeanor or professionalism or quality of work. Call him for your own needs - you won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: This was a little job - the aftermath of an inexperienced driver making a huge mistake and running into the front brickwork of a residence. It was hard to attract interest from a lot of contractors, but I was able to secure three competing quotes. I had no such problems with Robert. His professionalism, punctuality and ESPECIALLY his follow-ups should be a lesson to other contractors on how to attract and build a list of clients. His work was also excellent, so he clearly has the skills to support his business and build his reputation. I highly recommend you give him a call for your masonry needs.

Robert was extremely professional on the phone, during the estimation process, and during and after the actual work. He took the time to educate me on why the stonework was failing, and more importantly, what he could do to reverse the process. Throughout the day, he walked me around the yard to ensure I was happy with the progress and the color of the mortar and caulk used for the repairs. Upon completion of the job, Robert again showed me all his work and left only after he was sure I was satisfied with the quality of his craftsmanship. My wife and I are extremely happy with the price and quality of the work Robert performed and will highly recommend him to anyone needing professional masonry repair.
Description of Work: Robert performed repairs outside my home; damaged stone terraces were repaired with mortar, loose stone stairs were reset and mortared, and transitions from cement to stone and brick were caulked.

I called Robert to come out and investigate a water leak in the basement of a rental property I owned. My tenant was starting to get irritated. I opted to go with a company that could address the foundation crack and do the tuck pointing I needed done. A lot of companies only did one or the other. Robert did a thorough review of the house, & explained to me the things I needed done to address the problem. He didn't try to convince to get a lot of unnecessary work done. He fully explained how the foundation crack would be sealed and when he did the work he explained each step of the way, and showed us how the crack was now sealed. I was very impressed with his work, he was on time and gave a fair price. In half a day, the foundation crack was fixed, the chimney repaired and the tuckpointing done on the sections that needed it. My tenant is happy and I don't have to worry every time it rains. Thanks Robert!

Robert called me immediately and showed up at scheduled time. He was the only person of the companies that came out that actually went under my deck to look at support columns to see the extent of damage. His quote was by far the best and his work was beautiful. He matching my existing mortar wonderfully and went above and beyond finding small areas in need of repair and fixing them. Very personable and fast. I highly recommend him and would use him again no question.

I found this company on Angie's List, and gave them a call to estimate new tuckpointing for our home. Robert returned my call a couple of days later. He stated he would stop by and work up an estimate within a few days. His estimate was a far greater value than the other estimate we received. Robert and his assistant arrived Saturday morning and worked steadily all day grinding out the old mortar from the brickwork. Early Sunday morning they arrived to tuckpoint, and completed the job and their cleanup by noon. The tuckpointing looks fabulous; they did a marvelous job!

Robert came out to my house the same day that I called and requested a quote. He told me exactly what work should be done and was very helpful in not letting me do additional work that was not really needed. He came back as promised - arrived at the designated time and completed the work in a professional manner. Very nice, friendly and left everything looking very clean and neat. Robert returned my estimate call quickly, said he'd stop by later in the week. He examined what needed to be done, explained the process, and allowed us to the pick the color of industrial caulk needed (to best match the color of our bricks, with his help). We set the appointment for the following week, and he showed up on time. Did the work quickly, end result is great. The caulk is holding up very well (2+ months later) and the patch work was the best I've seen (much better than our previous masonry company). Additionally, he offered a cash discount when the work was complete. Robert also offered a future suggestion for a permanent fix to our crumbling front cement stairs, and we may consider that project in the future. For great masonry repair, I would definitely recommend Robert & will use again for our future needs.
Description of Work: We had some sidewalk repair done (by another company) that left sizeable gaps between our home and the sidewalk, plus a few large patch areas. Robert came and patched both areas, followed by caulking the entire length of the house along the sidewalk and front walk.

I had received an email from Angie's list to fix cracks in the foundation. I purchased the "BIG DEAL" to do the work. The man came out and discovered mold and recommended another Angie'slist company. I gave both companies the job of fixing the problem. Read those deals very carefully! I thought all the cracks woud be fixed, but only one was actually covered. He charged me more to fix two cracks. Once the cracks were fixed it started raining again. I still had water in the basement. The man came back and told me it wasn't his fault. I had to call a masonry company. I called Robert. This time I was not so trusting about the quality of Angie's list providers. Robert told me that he had to dig out the other job, and fill in the cracks with the proper materials. He did fix my problem, and so far no water in the basement. The mold company destroyed my basement and left with half the walls gone and rooms torn apart. They charged a fortune and I still have the problem. They destroyed interior walls that did not have mold. They left me with a big mess. Robert was the only one who knew what he was doing, and did the work that was promised. He has called to make sure the bonding has held. He was the only one of the three companies with integrity.
Description of Work: I had three cracks in the basement walls. Every time it rained there was a river of water in the basement.

Tuck pointer - Robert from General Masonry Repairs - Phone: 708 906-1528. He is terrific!!!!! I am a very detail oriented interior designer. Robert exceeded my expectations by far. I look for and expect very good work. His workmanship is truly amazing. To see the restoration work that he did for my home (Michelle) contact him for the address. I was dreading changing the tuck pointing because I have seen so many improper tuck pointing jobs in my town and others that have vintage homes. The color match is absolute perfection. The workmanship looks original to the house. Robert and another coworker are the ones that actually do the work. I view this to be very important because otherwise how do you know that the guy you get is the best worker at a company. I really have never had such a great result (except my upholsterer) in any trade doing any type of work for me. He is GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!
