Robert's General Masonry Repair

All the work went smoothly. Robert's initial estimate was fair. He came when promised and work was completed just as he said. He was able to explain why we had some of the issues we did, and how to correct them. We were skeptical about being able to match our existing bricks with replacements. Robert was able to find a set that worked so well, you can't even tell where the repairs were done.

We hired Robert to rebuild our chimney that was falling apart in the fall of 2014. unfortunately the weather turned for the worst and the job had to be done in the spring of 2015. True to his word Robert and his crew came as soon as the weather broke in March of 2015. The work Robert and his crew did was clean and professional we highly recommend them to anyone that needs masonary work done.

Robert was great, on time plenty of contact. He did an excellent job. We would highly recommend him.

Robert was 100% punctual and neat. He even found a crack on the opposite side of the house that we were unaware of. We would definitely use him for any future needs.

My chimney was deteriorating and Robert explained to me in detail what work he would need to perform in order to make the chimney safe again. He told me what materials were needed and exactly what the job would cost. We agreed upon a start date, which he cautioned should be soon based on the poor condition of my chimney, and also informed me when he would complete the job. He finished ahead of schedule and the chimney looks like new. I can't believe it is the same crumbling chimney it once was. Robert is also the neatest contractor I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I could really see the effort he puts into and the pride he takes in his work. Robert is a true craftsman. Aside from the impeccable work Robert performed, he has to be the most personable and professional businessman out there. I would recommend him to anyone. I know they will be as pleased as I am with their experience.

I called and talked to Robert himself on his website it states he does business in South West Chicago and Suburbs. He made it quite clear that he does not do business in South Holland or any area around there. This would not bother me, but his business is located on Orland Park, IL just about 3 miles away.

Robert did an excellent job. He was prompt in providing s proposal and scheduling the work. He came himself to do the repair. Which other shop will give you a professional mason yo do the work? Not many! His work quality is way above the big companies. And his price was the best.

Robert was professional and punctual. I had thought there was only one crack above the garage, but Robert pointed out other cracks at the back of the house that I hadn't seen. He did the work beautifully, making the new mortar blend well. Wish I had hired him for a tuckpointing job at my house! I would definitely use his services again.

Robert was a pleasure to work with. I sent him pictures of what I needed done. He sent me an estimate very quickly. Him and one other person came to do the work. Both of them were very meticulous and did a great job. They did one window for me and made sure I liked the way it looked and the color before they did the rest. I would strongly recommend!

Robert was very responsive. He came out promptly to give us an assessment of our problems along with an estimate on the spot. We were anxious to get the work done this year, so he fit us in on a weekend. He and his team showed up as scheduled and did exactly what he said would be done. We've had a couple of rains since then and our basement is completely dry. He had also pointed out issues that we didn't even realize needed to be addressed (like the fact that our chimney cap had blown off and needed to be replaced). We could not be more satisfied with the work and the value for the money. I highly recommend Robert and should the need arise would use him again!

Robert was great! I had been trying to get a mason/fireplace repair person to come out for 4 weeks with no luck. I sent a message to Robert and he came out the next day repaired several things. I highly highly recommend Robert.

Home is almost entirely limestone. Mortar joints in some areas, including the chimney, needed to be ground out and replaced/repaired with matching mortar color. With so many fly-by-night, scammers and devious "services" out there, for your own protection it is important to do your research when hiring prospective tradesmen/services. Because we like to support local businesses, we started our search by calling local area advertisers. Two never returned our calls. A third one finally did come out, but would not acknowledge bonding or insurance coverage. We then consulted Angie's List to solicit bids. First one finally showed up after two weeks of phone tag but his bid seemed too low, and vague, and he never gave us references to confirm the quality of his work. Then, impressed with his AL reviews, we called Robert, who was prompt, professional and thorough with his assessment of the work needed and cost of repairs. We scheduled repairs and he arrived as promised and completed the work showing great attention to detail. Even thought we did not originally ask to have it done, we were pleased to see that he also went ahead and caulked other areas where there might be a chance of water penetration, with color-matching material. If need be, we would use him again, and highly recommend him. If Angie's rating allowed it, we would give him an A+.

Robert was one of three potential providers I contacted for our situation. One provided repeated excuses for delays in coming over and ultimately never submitted an estimate; one was competitive in price but much too long-winded and off-topic in his explanations (uncomfortably so), and the third was Robert. I have read many of the positive reviews of Robert's services and could wrap this up by simply saying "The same!" However, Robert is such a professional, positive and accomplished guy that it is worth my writing (and you reading) another thumbs-up experience. Simply put, Robert is the type of tradesman that every single homeowner on Angie's would want to do business with. If there is an electrician, plumber, etc. out there with the same skills and customer service in their fields that Robert has in his field, I'd sure like to meet them. Robert was over within hours of my initial inquiry. I have a 60-year-old home I purchased less than a year ago and it has a beautiful fireplace of colorful, rough-hewn stones that extends to a very large chimney outside During certain rains and snows, however, random stones above the firebox were showing moisture. The stone chimney extends well outside the house and it isn't hard to imagine that there could be innumerable places where water could infiltrate. Sure enough, upon inspection Robert found numerous examples of cracks and missing mortar well above the roofline which he documented with his camera and showed me. It was also apparent that the previous tuckpoint job at an unknown time in the past was hastily-applied, probably just a patch-up job. In fact, it wasn't even proper tuckpointing material, but ordinary gray cement. See my detailed list of the work performed in the previous field called "What did the provider do."

Robert was punctual, professional, yet friendly. So easy to communicate with. My husband and I are more than satisfied with the outcome of the job. Robert could not locate the exact bricks that our home was built with, but he brought us several similar samples. The brick we decided on looks great. You would never know that these were not the exact bricks that our home was built with. The job was done in a timely fashion, all debris was cleaned up very well. I would recommend Robert to not only my friends, but to neighbors and members of Angie's list.

Robert was prompt in returning my call, emailing the estimate and scheduling the work. He answered all my questions and explained how he would repair the wall and the materials that would be used. He arrived promptly on the scheduled day and completed the job the same day with amazing results. I couldn't be more satisfied with the finished work. I definitely would use him again and would highly recommend him for his excellent masonry work. He is a true professional.

If you need masonry work to be done, Robert IS the professional you should call! Our chimney was a hot mess - even more of a mess than we really knew. We made a few phone calls and then decided it was time to enlist Angie's list for some "help." As we searched, we came across Robert's Masonry Repair...read the reviews and called him. He answered immediately - even though he was on a job he took a moment to speak with me. We set up a time for an estimate. He was on time, took before photos (we were shocked...ugh!). Robert explained EXACTLY what needed to be done. Quoted a price verbally and in writing. We accepted the next day and he was out just a few days later, as we agreed upon. He just completed the work and again, showed us the"after" photos...very impressed! He also emphazised that if we had any questions or problems that he was only a phone call away. Robert exceeded our expectations with his level of professionalism, level of skill and backing of his work. If and when we need masonry services again - we will only need to make one phone call - to Robert!

He showed up for both estimate and services quite promptly and as promised. They did all the repairs in a timely fashion. Robert is the owner not only stayed with the crew he worked with them and when they completed they cleaned up very well. We were very pleased and grateful he kept every promise made. There were NO hidden extras or surprises. Robert and his crew were fabulous and professional. I highly recommend.

Robert fit us in on a saturday. He was prompt, and performed the repairs in a professional manner. We will definitely use him again when we need further work.

We would highly recommend Robert and his services. He is very knowledgeable, explains everything very thoroughly, extremely competitive in pricing, very easy to understand, very prompt and responsive and you can simply tell that he takes his work and suggestions and YOUR HOME to heart. He wants the best for you and your home. This is something I have never come across with a contractor. We plan to use him for any future needs.

It was completed in a timely manner. It took him only one day to complete the work and he came to look at it and give an estimate right away. The area had a lot of storms and the power was out for 3-4 days so given the circumstances he was very professional and did a great job. He is truly an artisan. He gave a great explanation of what services he was to perform both before and after he did the work.

When we called, Robert answered the phone himself (no machine). Robert came out to inspect the chimney the day after we had called. He explained the problem with the chimney in detail. Robert also explained in clear terms of what would be done to correct and repair the problem. During repair he explained what material he was using and how it would correct and repair the chimney. He provided us with an appointment for work within three days of estimate for work. After Robert was done with repairs, he offered to inspect our second chimney which he indcated was in good shape and did not need any maintenance.. Afterward, Robert said to call him with any further questions or additional issues that may occur after he was gone. Initial contact was done by email and phone which I appreciate as I live 31 miles from my rental property. Robert came by the property, checked it out, and gave me an estimate without my having to be there. He really understood my need to keep the cost down and only repair what was needed. On the scheduled day he arrived early and started right in. His tuckpointing is a work of art and blends in beautifully. The repair work on the faux stone was better than expected and now the house is water tight again. Very nice man. Would hire again in a heartbeat.

Robert arrived early with his crew and was done by noon. They were quiet (if it can be quiet work) and very professional. I never daw them sitting around altho it was terribly hot and humid. About 11:30 he called me out to show me what they had done and it was beautiful work. He had also tilted a lintel so that it no longer angles toward the house, causing water to gather behind the bricks inside the wall. He replaced several bricks that he noticed were coming loose. All in all a great job.

Robert was very good about explaining everything and educating me. He is very down to earth and takes the time to answer your concerns. His work seems flawless. He takes pride in what he does so that shows in the result we got!
