+ -1 moreFirst off I want to say I am extremely happy with this Company! Bill and Leo came out to my house in Subzero temps to fix a problem with a Short cycling furnace that I purchased from Polar a couple of years ago and has worked great until after I had some drywall repair in my basement right before winter. With that said, I spoke to Bill on the phone and he talked to me about possible solution to fix it. But already had done all the basics and didn’t correct the issue. So when Bill and Leo arrived they went straight to work and was able to get to the coil where they removed a blanket of dust with a hi powered vac and brush even went above and cleaned a couple of other parts in the system they noticed were dirty. Thanks again to Polar and Bill and Leo for doing what they do and doing it well and they didn’t try and over charge me like some of the company's would do when you’re in a desperate weather situation like I was. Last night our furnace worked great no more short cycling we were warm and at one point too warm which is hard to believe in -30 wind chills! I am definitely going to continue to use Polar and in the summer I am going to contact them to purchase a new AC from them.

+ -1 moreArrived exactly on time, explained what he was going to do, thoroughly cleaned the furnace, vacuuming, etc. He found some oil on the floor below the motor and came to me asked me if'/when any work had been done to the motor. He was concerned that it was failing. Turns out, the previous guy (from another repair service) last winter failed to clean up the mess from a fan motor issue we had last winter. The amount of oil was substantial and the last guy couldn't possibly have missed it!! He checked everything out and found all in working order. He checked the humidifier and answered all my questions no matter how trivial they may have been but were important to me at the time and didn't bat an eye. At the apartment, this man cleaned the 2 units like I've never seen before. Took both fronts off completely, cleaned the fans and vacuumed the entire inside. He even took apart the gas jet, blew it out physically to clean it and then put it all back together. Both units have worked like never before, quiet and efficient. The result of this visit was peace of mind I've never had before and a lower heating bill!!

+ -1 moreAfter the Polar installer took apart my A/C to inspect it, he recommended that I replace the whole A/C unit for a cost of $2,400 -- after I had already told him that the unit still had a warranty and was only about 4 or 5 years old. The repairman still recommended that I replace the unit even after we discussed the warranty in more detail. I declined the recommendation and paid about $80.00 for the Polar repairman's time to troubleshoot and dissemble the parts that he judged to be non-functioning. I hired another A/C repairman out of the phone book. The other repair company fixed the A/C using warranty parts for a total repair cost of about $500 which included the cost of re-installing the parts that the previous repairman removed but did not replace (he said that the parts were no good). Months later, the A/C now works the best it ever has.

There were four men doing the work all were very polite and finished the job in one day. They cleaned put after they were done you would have never known they were here. I would recommend Polar Heating to anyone who needs heating and air conditioning work done . Price was good and are the service was excellent.

We contacted them about something and they didn't put a big effort into it giving us a good quote. They weren't too interested in coming out 'cause we're really pretty far away from their home office so they didn't try really hard. They were punctual.

(Another company I called promised no earlier than 2:00 PM) They quickly diognosed the issue and had the part on hand to make an immediate repair.

Description of Work: I called for an AC maintenance for the upcoming summer months. I was told that if I applied both the AC and furnace that it would cost $139.00 and if I did it before May 13, 2013 I would get 10.00 off. Well, I set up the service call, the tech (Dennis) came out and service both AC and Furnace for such a low price. Now I don't have to call them back to do the furnace in September. Both were cleaned and all other necessary work was done for the preventive maintenance order. The tech (Dennis) was in and out promptly after he finished, he cleaned up after his work.

+ 1 moreMy furnace was from late 1980's central air and water heater from 2000 all were slowly going and with the rebates being offered by gas co. Decided to do them all. Jerry from polar came out on time and explained all options and pricing from lowest to best. We went with 95%efficient furnace 14 sear 21/2ton AC and a tankless hot water heater after doing research and talking to people who owned them and getting advice. I also have a buddie who used to do heating and air and plumbing. And he had also worked on my furnace several times when it went out while I was gone and my family was home in the dead of winter. He recommended getting new furnace and air. He looked at price and the warranty and was impressed with both. He didn't want to do the job since we're both in different field of work. They showed up with a five man crew and worked all day. They were polite and professional and did a great job. Later in evening smelled some gas ( I'm a firefighter and know all about dangers and what to do) called company and left message. They called me back in 10 minutes and showed up in 35 minutes. Thayer put a few holes in basement ceiling and finally found leak. A pipe in middle of basement came loose at a union. Not really there fault but they fixed it free. And then a week later patched and painted holes in drywall ceiling in basement. No charge I highly recommend them and will be a customer for life. I have worked in construction And have lots of friends who do( I try not to mix friends and large amounts of money it can create problems) they are impressed with them and I recommended them to my in-laws.

+ -1 moreAt both the inspection of the new home we just moved into and the final walk through, we observed that there was no heat coming out of the radiators on the 2nd floor, so we asked the sellers to please have a professional inspect and make corrections. Polar were the professionals they selected. Polar made first visit where they replaced a thermocouple, per the invoice provided by the seller. When there was still no heat on the second floor during the final walkthrough, they returned while we were at closing and provided an other work order that stated that the system was in "PERFECT WORKING CONDITION". Upon taking ownership of the property, the same issue remained... no heat at all to the 2nd floor. I called polar and they came out again, this time under my supervision, and told me it was going to be a minimum of $541 to replace what the suspected was a seized circulator pump and that would not guarantee a fix. They also refused to take any responsibility for their CERTIFICATION that the system was in "Perfect Working Order". If a company's word is no good, then the quality of their work isn't even something worth considering.
Description of Work: Cleaned, inspected, replaced thermocouple, certified that system was in "perfect working condition" prior to closing. Immediately following closing, returned when system still wasn't working on 2nd floor and refused to give any credence to their prior certification.

+ -1 moreMy overall experience with them was excellent. The person who gave me the estimate was very professional. The two workers that came out to do the work were easy to talk to and work with. They were pleasant. After two weeks, my furnace was leaking and I called them back. The person who spoke to me over the phone was very apologetic and he offered to give me one year servicing additional on my furnace and also cleaning of my air conditioning. He also sent somebody else to fix the problem.

+ -1 moreI had an excellent experience with Polar. Every person I was in contact with was extremely friendly and professional. Bill (technician / sales) arrived at our house on time for thorough review of our current boiler and estimate. He was very professional and easy to talk to about options and recommendations. Two days later, I called to schedule an appointment and talked to the owner. He, too, was very nice and accommodating with schedules. Two technicians arrived with support from some other Polar technicians for delivery. They were on time and very nice. They spend 11 hours at our home disassembling our old unit and installing the new one. Because of our tight entrance, they had to disassemble the parts of the new unit to fit it into our basement. They did not seem bothered by this. Throughout the day, we talked to the technicians and they were very willing to talk about the technical aspects / answer questions. I was surprised by how resilient they were at the end of the night. They left the work area very clean. I highly recommend Polar. They are very consumer-centric and know their stuff. We will be using them for our annual cleaning, as they offer a nice service.

They arrive at about or around 1000 hours and left at or about 1830-1845 hours. I fed the 3 of them lunch- a spicy beef sausage on grill toast with cheese and mayo sandwich, a fruit cup and a pitcher of ice water with 3 cups. One of them was coughing a lot so I gave him some halls, some time release vitamin C and made him a cup of peppermint and echina tea and by the end of the day he was sounding much better and coughing very little if at all. I also fix a cup of tea for another team member. They worked with much patience. They cleaned up and out after themselves and put the crawl space furnace in my garage as I asked them to, after checking that each supply and return vent was supplying and returning appropriately testing both heat and air. They displayed total professionalism. Let me not forget the Salesman Billy, who came out to my house and made the assessment on Saturday. OH! Billy was great, professional, knowledgeable and very kind. He came out while the team was working to make sure they knew exactly what to do, they decided to do what he had previously told me, differently and he explained that to me. WOW! He worked with them just for a little while and left. I thought the price was too high. The Rheem 80% gas furnace-Model RGPS runs less than $900.00. Oh, well, the service I received was worth more in Gold, I highly recommend this company and this team. On a scale of 0-10 they deserve a 20.
Description of Work: Well, the team (Jose, Jesus and Demetrius) came out and had to remove 2 furnaces to replaced them with one, They install a new up-flow furnace, new sheet metal box with a filter a new coil , new trunk line to connect to 2 supplies, they removed the furnace from the crawl space and added a new thermostat that was easy to program. They cut and made the new ducts right there on the property. They worked with diligence and as close to perfection as they possibly could. I like the fact that they did not remove the 2 old thermostats because they said that it would leave a hole in the wall. + -1 moreFrom the first phone call to Polar, to my conversation with the guy who came out to evaluate, to the crew that came out to do the work, it was an outstanding experience. They were professional, on time, communicated every detail of what they were doing, and got the job done quickly. I can't say enough about a company willing to come out and repair someone else's horrible work, and just get the job done right. The price was good, the communication was excellent, and the workmanship was top-notch. Polar had the technical expertise to figure out what was wrong, and come up with a quick plan to fix it. I would hire them again anytime.
Description of Work: Polar came out to evaluate our existing (new) 2nd floor HVAC system installed as part of a 2nd floor remodelling contract with a different contractor. The original contractor had installed an extremely poorly designed 2nd floor heating and whole house A/C system, and then abandoned the entire project. I had originally thought it might be a simple fix, but Polar was very clear with me about what was wrong, and what needed to be done to fix it. They proposed to yank out the existing system in the attic, preserving the ductwork and coolant lines to the outside, and then install a proper furnace and A/C coil along with a new compressor outside.

+ 0 morePolar completed a furnace cleaning and duct cleaning for me. When setting up the work order, I had told Polar that I did not want the air ducts to be cleaned because this is handled through my condo association dues. To be fair, I did misspeak in saying that the ducts had already been cleaned when in fact it was only the dryer vent that had been cleaned recently. The air duct cleanings through the condo are upcoming. I was angry that the company performed work I had requested they not complete because it would have been an unnecessary expense. The company's initial Angie's List was less than fair and accurate. However, I have since received a call from the owner who apologized and made things right. The initial misunderstanding appears to have been a fluke. The punctuality, professionalism, friendliness, and work quality of the Polar technicians has been beyond reproach. I would recommend Polar Heating and Cooling without reservation.
