PALKA CONSTRUCTION

We hired Bob Palka to completely remodel our bathroom and were so happy with his work, we had him come back to replace the bathtub in a second bathroom with a walk-in shower. For the first bathroom, Bob removed all old fixtures, flooring, ceiling, tiles and wallboard, taking the room down to the studs. He repaired some areas that had been water-damaged. He rewired all electrical to meet current codes, adding a venting fan and additional ceiling fixtures. He also installed new plumbing for the toilet, sink, tub and shower. He repaired some joists in our basement that had been compromised by previous home-repair do-it-yourselfers. Once the mechanicals had been installed, he finished the bathroom from ceiling to floor - including tiling, installing all fixtures and lighting, wallboard, and beadboard. The only thing Bob didn't do was paint the walls and trim. For the second bathroom, Bob removed the old bathtub, tiling and walls surrounding the tub. He updated the plumbing and installed a light fixture. He then installed a walk-in shower and tiled the entire area. He added some additional light fixtures around our sink area and updated our fan. Additionally, he moved the access panel to our attic from its original awkward location above the toilet to a much easier-to-access location. Bob was meticulously clean, making sure that all work areas were swept and tidied before he left at the end of each day. He took all of the construction debris with him to discard. He was very punctual and kept me informed of his schedule through the entire process. He had a good knowledge of all aspects of the remodeling project and offered sage advice. He and I worked together to procure all materials needed. The price was very reasonable and I would have him do more projects in our home without hesitation.

Owner returned my call promptly and came out within the week to give me an estimate. Arrived promptly, discussed the job & my requirements & his recommendations. I received a fully typed quote & contract within the week. He previously advised he was not available to do the work until 2007, which is fine. I am still in the process of making a decision.
