I am very happy with my experience with Excel Electronics. After leaving a message on Tuesday mid-morning, I received a call from Omar Muhammad just after noon. I described the problem -- at a property in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, a tenant's breaker was repeatedly flipping, shutting off all power to the unit -- and Omar scheduled an appointment for the next morning (my preferred time), between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. On Wednesday, at 8:40 AM, the technician, Israel, arrived. I apologized as I led him to the breaker box, in the back of a dark basement that sort of looks like a horror film set, but he was not fazed. He spent a few minutes at the box, then asked me to go up to the unit. He then called me from the basement suggesting various ideas for drawing power that he then measured. Israel diagnosed the problem, installed a new breaker, and patiently explained his findings regarding the electrical issues that I had noted. While he remained at the breaker box in the basement, I plugged in appliances and tried different combinations to test the fix. Everything worked great. The entire process took about an hour, the fix was comparatively cheap, and service from beginning to end was excellent. I will definitely call Excel Electronics if and when I have electrical issues in the future.

Omar and his other electricians from Excel Electric were beyond awesome!!! The intercom system in our building had not worked for almost a year. We had hired two other electrians to fix the problem but both tried simple remedies that never successfully worked and neither were willing to analyze and fix the problem from start to finish. They would come for a few hours then say they had to leave for another job. When I called Excel Electric & talked to Omar he asked me very detailed questions about our intercom system, the problems we were having and what work had been done on the system in the past. He seemed very knowledgeable on the phone but I could also tell that if he didn't understand something he would be honest enough to admit it, a quality many contractors don't have. He also was very upfront on what it would initially cost for his services and gave me a detailed estimate. Omar arrived the first day on time and immediately began addressing the issues with our intercom. He then had another electrician from his firm come to our building and the two spent the entire day diagnosing the problem, replacing the broken parts, and reconfiguring the wiring to make sure it was all in working order. At the end of the day they had two aspects of the intercom working and came back the next day to finish the work. By the time they were finished the intercom sounded better, talk, listen and doorbell functions, than it ever had in the 10 years when it was working. We also had some light fixtures on the back porches of our building that never worked very well. They replaced all of the fixtures and then calked around the fixtures so that water could not get in. In the end given the amount of time they had spent fixing our problems they had spent far more time than originally estimated but were still willing to negotiate a fair price for all their work. From my experience if you ever need any intercom or electrical work in your home or condo the first call I would make would be to Excel Electric!

I had just recently purchased a bank owned property and ALL of the copper wires had been stolen among other things thus the house needed to be completely rewired. Omar came out and gave me an estimate and approximately time frame to complete the job. I have known Omar and his family for more than 25 years and he was extremely knowledgeable, patient and friendly. Not to mention honest! Omar gave me a discount off the original quoted price because the area that I wanted to be wired had to be drywalled and framed first. His men (Abdullah and Ismael) were punctual and knowledgeable as well. They also were very patient as I had a lot of questions regarding the job. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the service and will not only use Excel Electrical for all my electrical work but I will also refer him to all of my colleagues and friends. THANK YOU SO MUCH EXCEL!!!

They did an excellent job, did a good job protecting furniture and floors and did their work in a quiet and professional manner. They arrived on time, were tidy and completed the job on schedule. I would not hesitate to recommend them nor hire them again.

Omar responded very promptly to my request for quote. When I was ready to go he brought his team and they performed the first part of the work in 2 days. I was having additional work done on my unit, so they came back later to finish the ceiling fan installation. Couldn't be happier with the work they did. They were very respectful and cleaned up where they had to cut out drywall to install the new fixtures. They really know what they are doing.

Omar is extremely knowledgeable and proficient. And, I feel that he charges a reasonable price. We will continue to call on him for our electrical needs.

I heard a pop and saw a puff of smoke, and then the lights in my kitchen stopped working. I replaced the dimmer switch and the power still didn't work, so I was concerned it was a wiring issue. Omar came and checked it out and told me it wasn't the wiring, but the wrong dimmer. He swapped it out and I had power again. Took all of about a half-hour, and that included his trip to the hardware store for a new dimmer switch.

Omar was very responsive to our phone call to set up his visit. And he was very gracious and accommodating when we had to re-schedule his visit due to a medical emergency in our family. He was on time for the visit and conducted himself in a very professional manner. He provided us with a detailed estimate before actually doing the work. Omar answered all our questions about how to maintain the new light fixtures and was extremely pleasant to work with. He did an excellent job on all three projects and charged us what we felt was a reasonable price. He even did an extra light fixture for us that was not in his original work list or estimate and did not charge us anything extra. We also appreciated the 5% Angie's discount he gave us. We would definitely have Omar do work for us in the future and would highly recommend this company to others!

Omar and team did an excellent job. Timely, cost effective, professional, clean. I couldn't have asked for more. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

I placed a call into Excel on Wednesday and on my schedule Omar was able to accommodate my schedule to come on Friday morning. He was prompt, personable and wholly knowledgable. He completed the repair. I would use Excel again and recommend them to others.

gAn old dimmer switch in our dining room was shorting out and tripping the circuit breaker. We also had failing florescent lights in the basement, and a failed lamppost at the junction of the sidewalk and our driveway. We selected Excel based on numerous outstanding reports on Angie's list. Omar Mohammed, Excel's owner, answered our call personally on Wed morning, 01/09, scouted the job the following morning, and scheduled the work for Mon 01/14. He arrived within a few minutes of the promised time frame and completed each project in the job, thoroughly the repairs when he was completed. His price was fair and included all materiel. We will definitely hire Excel again for any electrical contracting projects.

They came out quickly for the estimate and they completed the job quickly. Their price was fair and Omar is good to work with. I would definitely recommend Excel.

Omar was able to come out the same day. He was very professional, punctual and honest. He informed me of my options, gave his professional opinion and I did not try to talk to me into spending more money than I needed to. I would recommend Excel Electrical.

I called Excel who came out same day and made the repairs. A week later, one of the lights that was repaired again was not working. I called Excel and they came back out the next day and fixed the problem - no questions asked. I would definitely use them again

He always provides me with information on why the problems occurred. For instance, he gave me information on my back-up generator that the company who installed it didn't even provide. He always comes at the exact time he promises. When he is unable to come out, he has his assistant come out and let's me know. He is very business-like, yet kind. He comes in and works swiftly. He's replaced things, installed ceiling fans, installed new appliances.

Once again, Omar did a great job. He is prompt, personable and very skilled/knowledgeable.

The whole process from responding to the voice mail (responded within 24 hours) to the date of installation (within 48 hours) was very professional. He was finished within a couple of hours which included cleaning up the work area. And, he reminded us about the 5% discount because we located him via Angie's List. We are 2 for 2 for excellent results using vendors from Angie's List.

Omar and Israel arrived at the stated start time and did an excellent job.

Called and talked to Omar and he came out the next day and did a wonderful job. Told him about the light over my sink and he was able to fix it... called him the following week after I had purchased a light fixture for my bathroom and he was able to install it perfectly.

Very good service, got a quick call-back, fixed the problem in record time. Very professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant.

We had a gfci in our bathroom that has been giving us problems for a couple years. We had another electrician out a couple times to fix it and each time it was not fixed. Omar Muhammad from Excel came out, right away found the problem was incorrect wiring from the beginning. He put in a new gfci unit, explained the issue to us and tested it multiple times to show us he had fixed the problem.

Omar gave me a 1 hour window and was on time. He was extremely courteous and very informative. He knew right away what was wrong with the GFCI, alleviating my concerns that my house might burn down if it popped again. As for the under cabinet lighting, he first told me that while florescent is nice, what had happened previously (the prongs holding the lights in broke) could happen again and that with LED, I would never need replacement lights. He then told me that he could pick them out or I could. I thought maybe I should and proceeded to get on Home Depot?s website. After seeing way too much info, I thought maybe I should leave it to the pro. He purchased exactly what I would have and in a nice price range. The original florescent lights were imbedded into the grout, so removing them and replacing with the new ones was not an easy task, and I knew some more grout work would have to be done, but he did an excellent job and I couldn?t be more pleased. I told him I was an Angie's List member so I received my 5% discount promissed. I told him I would recommend him highly here and to all my friends and would definitely use him again. The best part is, he lives right around the corner from me and I didn't even know it - excellent - a great electrician in my own neighborhood !!! :)

I called Exce and left a message. Mr. Omar called me back within an hour. I explained to him that half of my electricity was not working in some areas of my house. I felt something was wrong with the circuit breakers. He made an appointment to come out and give me an estimate. He arrived at my house at the scheduled time he said he would. It turned out that the problem was not with my circuit breaker but with a down wire, so it was a ComEd problem. He did not charge me for the estimate and he was very professional. If I ever do have an actual electrical problem, I will definitely call him again.

I had contacted several other electrical contractors in the area and Excel was by far the most prompt and responsive. They came out the day of my first call and provided a written estimate along with suggestions that decreased the overall job cost. Although their cost was not the lowest, they assured me there would be no additional charges for the job beyond the estimate. Once I awarded the job, they were out within a week to complete the installation. The day of installation, they arrived with a two man crew on time and finished the installation with minimal impact to our home. They fully tested the pieces I purchased and found a problem with the transfer switch - which they corrected at no additional charge to me. They cleaned up the entire job site and were extremely polite (on a very hot and humid day - working outside). I selected not to tell them I was an Angie's List member because so many of their reviews seemed too good to be true. You can trust all the reviews - this is a terrific company! I would not hesitate to call them again in the future.

They have been extraordinary because my insurance company has been a little bit challenging and they have been very patient. They have done their job I just have to wait on the parts to come from Florida. The insurance company insisted that they try to repair my system first, so they spent two hours trying to repair it but could not do it. Then they sent me a claim for a whole new system and the insurance company just approved it this week. They were very courteous, followed up emails and had good customer service. They came when they said they would come and I had good experience with them. They came out to do an initial estimate and did not charge for that.
