Allied Van Lines

Initially, Nicole, came to our house to give us an estimate. She estimated it at $1400. We told here that was more than we wanted to spend. She informed us that since we were doing most of the packing and that there were only bigger items it would not be the full amount. She said it would depend on the hours they spent moving. So we figured approximately 5 hours. At $150.00 per hour, total cost might be $750, max $1000. She guaranteed that it would not be as high as $1400 and insisted that we needed to sign the contract anyway. The movers showed up on time. There were four men. We packed everything that we could possible put in boxes. The only thing they had to move were bedroom furniture, kitchen table, buffet, etc. They told us in the morning that since we had so much packed, it would not take them too much time. They worked very slow, taking several breaks, and ensured that they would max out the time, so we therefore had to pay the $1400 fee. They also broke, scratched and nicked some of our furniture. The washer had to be moved up the steps, which were solid wood. They could not assure us that the wood would not be scratched and we should just buy touch up. We tried several to contact the owner and never received a call back. I would not recommend this company and will not use them for future moves!

I thought the packing crew was great. They worked quickly and efficiently and had the whole house (2 story, 3 bedroom, and full basement) packed up in 1 day. They were very courteous and answered all my questions. On day 2 they arrived and loaded the truck (twice) and took my things to their warehouse. They worked quickly and were done by 1pm on day 2. I had sprained my ankle in a fall the night before packing had begun and they were gracious enough to leave my comfortable chair and ottoman until the very last minute to load so I could elevate my foot. After that my experience went downhill. I had a contracted date range my things were to arrive in my new location (moved from Ohio to Oklahoma). I was told I had to be available easily during those days for arrival. I was available but they didn't arrive. They didn't contact me at all about an arrival time so I finally had to call (getting hold of my agent was not easy). She gave me an arrival date that was several days past my contracted date and also a date I could not be available since I was starting my new job. I had to tell them that was not acceptable and they had to make the driver work on a weekend to get it to me on my last available day. There was no explanation except they didn't have enough drivers. The crew that unloaded my truck to storage did a great job, were very careful with my belongings and packed them well in the storage units. Overall I feel like the crews they hire are very good and very competent. Communication and cooperation with the company itself could certainly improve. My only other complaint is that all small parts that result from taking apart beds etc. (bolts, screws, etc.) are put in a box and labeled "parts". I was told I would be given this box or know where it was on arrival at destination. That didn't happen and the driver just said "it's in there" - meaning somewhere in my storage units or in a bigger box. This was a problem as I wanted to use my twin bed at the location I am staying temporarily - expect I can't put the bed together without the parts. Problem! Also I had asked if my mattresses (3) would be wrapped and I was told yes. I didn't notice but "wrapping" 2 of them meant counting my very expensive bedbug covers would suffice and they were not re-wrapped. Those expensive covers are now torn and useless and my mattresses have been exposed to heavens knows what. Problem!

It went well it was hard to trust anyone but were were happy. We searched for a 2 week period for a mover. We felt we could trust them we were correct!!!

My experience with them went very well. They were very professional and very quick. They made my move very easy.

I didn't like the customer service. They were avoiding my phone. I was calling to check when they were gonna come to take out my stuff and approximately when we could be coming in to Texas to drop my stuff off. I noticed that I couldn't get anybody to let me know what day they will actually be here and when they were daily outside of their contract. It's very inconvenient for me because I have to pay another starting work. They lost and broke a couple of my things. I just wasn't very pleased. There was lot of money and they wouldn't do anything to work with me a far as compensate for being late.

Packing went well and moving was slow but that was due to the time of year.

It turned out pretty well. We didn't have any problems. It took a little longer than they said it would but that ended up working out in our favor.

The people were fine but they displaced several things and we are still dealing with it. The set of people that moved us were fine but they haven’t responded to our enquiries yet. Their pricing was fair.

The experience went very well. There was one exception- the crew leader, whom I have to interact with did not speak english, so I had a very difficult time communicating with him.

Their pricing was competitive and that was the main reason for me to choose them. They were fine, I have had better and I have had worse. I would recommend them, they did what they were supposed to do, they addressed all the issue that I wanted them to. Everything arrived in one piece and they were careful about putting everything in the house and so it was good. They were prompt, courteous and they have good communication skills.

I needed a quote to move my two bedroom house (with some belongings in a storage facility) for a state to state move. Sheryl, the representative, contacted me promptly, arrived on time, and provided a thorough proposal. Though I chose another provider, I would not hesitate to recommend Coleman American to anyone needing state to state moving services.

The selected mover performed well.

Overall, it was a good service and they were punctual. However, the strange thing about them is we had a single level home in Texas and they had four men come to load the truck. However, up here they only had two men to unload the truck and we have a four-level house here. The two workers were excellent, but they struggled to do the work.

The packing crew was exceptional good; they worked fast and very professional. The people who loaded/unloaded and drove the truck were a little challenged with communication - they did not arrive at the promised day; the delivery was performed on day later. The company provided a check to compensate for the inconvenience of waiting in vain.

The packers arrived on time but based on our examination, as we opened boxes in Denver did a horrible job. We had numerous items broken apparently due to poor packing. We also found things like dirty toilet brushes packed with a box of clean linnens. Items were simply thrown into a metal container...no wrappng at all..and they were all damaged. Many items from the garage were not boxed at all but simply put into the truck. All furniture was not disassembled for shipment as we had been told. As a result there was damage to endtables an amoire and several pieces of lawn furniture. The few pieces that were partially disassembled were not reassembled at our house in Denver. (As they said they would be.) They had promised a delivery date of 2/29 or 2/20. We called the driver on 2/19. he said he was in southern california and there was no way he would be there on time. His paperwork said the delivery was scheduled for 2/21 or 2/22. When we called the manager at All American he said it wasn't his problem or fault. He offered to give us the number for Allied Van Lines customer satisfaction department. He said I wouldn't bother if I were you. All they'll do is say they are sorry and you'll still have to deal with a late delivery.

Overall, the process went very smoothly. My only complaint is that when moving our things from our apartment in STL to the warehouse (before the cross-country move), some of our furniture was broken. Granted, the furniture quality wasn't great (IKEA), but we had personally moved these pieces numerous times before without incident. The monetary value of damage, though, was small, and all of our boxes arrived in CO. The driver who delivered our things to CO was fantastic -- he was helpful, and he and his colleague were very careful with our things.

A few weeks before our move, a guy came in to estimate the cost of the move. And they gave us a good price for it, so we decided to go with them. As the negotiations went by no one would pick up the phone and we would have to voice messages, but they would call back 1-2 days after. The day before the move, they called in and mentioned that they would come in around noon to pick up the stuff. The next day they came in 2 hours early, and they couldn't fit the truck inside the gate, and were trying to charge us $400 because of the labor (of getting a new truck that would actually fit). But we insisted that this wasn't our fault that the truck would not fit. The guy who did the estimate said their truck will fit. So, after a while they were able to bring the truck in. The truck driver was cranky, and the guy that was with him was okay but was having doubts with the stuff that we had (We had a large HDTV that we just bought 2 months ago, we put it back in its original box), saying it may not be a TV inside the box. The truck driver would always say that it's our problem if the stuff would not fit inside his truck because he's the only one who can move our stuff to Texas. He was very rude and would not even allow us to change our minds. After we gave the movers some lunch money they were a bit nicer. They came in to Texas after nine days, as mentioned in the contract. The truck driver was the same one who picked up the stuff from Florida. He was not as rude as nine days ago. They are very prompt and all the stuff was accounted for and in good condition. Overall, I would say that the value for the service itself is good. The rudeness may be just for this driver alone, however, it is unacceptable.

They arrived on time and were friendly. They were very slow moving. They took seven hours to pack and load the truck. There was also a lot of confusion about how much it cost. The original estimate was $1,570. When all was said and done, our total came to $2,154. They wanted to charge us an additional $150 to take our boxes away. No thanks....I'll take them to a Hamilton County recycling drop off site. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I wish I had stayed away from Allied Coleman (Richmond Hill, GA).Our furniture was handled very badly. We had a one month storage. A lot of our furniture came dirty, even with stains. it's obviously nothing approaching a white glove moving, better say a greasy, dirty hands even though their sales rep sold the contrary.Several of our antique, real antique furniture came broken or wrecked. We had a long list of claims to the insurance.Last but not least, the movers who came for the delivery started damaging our brand new house. So we had to fire the supervisor and wait for a replacement. Very, totally unprofessional from the beginning to the end. When I called to ask for some kind of explanation, there was a total lack of reaction or concern.So far we have moved 12 times, all around the world, and it turns out to be the worst, by far.

They had to go by a list of things I wanted and didn't want. Everything was delivered on time. Delicate things survived really well only one thing was broken and it wasn't their fault. The movers were really nice, very professional and willing to help. Good people. They gave me a complete checklist and all the stuff was there.

The move went great and the staff was very professional.

They moved me out of an apartment into another apartment. It was from Cincinnati to Buffalo. They were great.

The overall experience was good. Their punctuality, responsiveness, and professionalism were good. I would use this company again.
