I emailed Ken a couple of times before finally picking up the phone. When I called and left a message, his response was immediate. So maybe he doesn't check email as often as I do! We scheduled an appt to look at the problems, he agreed he could handle them, and was punctual and on time to fix them. His advice was invaluable and he finished promptly. Will continue to use Ken Whitelaw for many future projects!

Kenny was a very nice guy, but he wasn't able to do the ceiling fan install, because of the electrical work that would be involved. For the other, minor repair work we wanted done, I thought his price estimate was too high, so I just ended up doing the work myself. If you aren't able to do something, I think he'd do a good job and was very nice, but just a touch pricey.

Our schedules never corresponded. The quote he gave me was by the hour and not by the job as advertised. The quote was higher than the other quotes I received. The job is small and he is exaggerating the time it will take.

Great. Kenny was so wonderful. I am happy the projects were completed quickly. Kenny was very detailed and cleaned up.

He is very professional, prompt and knowledgeable. We have used him before and have always been satisfied with his work. He also was able to regrout glass block windows for us, leaving them fresh looking again.

It went well. Kenny was quite busy, but after finding time to check out the job, he quickly quoted us a price and did the work the next day, for he had a last minute cancellation on another job he was scheduled to do. We asked him to match the existing fence as close as possible and he came through for us! The new section of fence is as strong as ever. The site looked clean after his work was done, so we're happy.

This guy is amazing - great at what he does explains things so they can be understood and is very professional. Orginally I had given him a poor rating due non-responsiveness but now it appears to have been some sort of filtering of email.

Mr. Whitelaw came to the house within days of contacting him. He did a comprehensive walk through to assess the various problems and was able to come up with creative solutions for a variety of jobs. Mr. Whitelaw pointed out problem areas that we hadn't noticed before and gave a concise and honest assessment of what, and by whom, these areas needed to be addressed. He was able to suggest other reputable contractors for any work that couldn't be done, and follow up with them for us on our behalf. He gave a thorough and accurate estimate and scheduled a time to come out. He showed up on time, completed all work quickly and professionally and regularly checked in to insure that all was going to my liking. Mr. Whitelaw left our home clean and are problems expertly fixed. We would definitely hire him for any other work that needed to be done and enthusiastically recommend him.

No problems, everything went well. Ken also gave me advice on some other questions I had - replace or not replace door to garage, etc.

It went well. He'd come to look at the fence and then gave me some ideas. He arrived on time for the job and had all of the materials needed to do the job on the spot. He explained things to me, clearly, and was thorough. I even noticed him checking the lawn at the end for left over screws etc. I liked that he used special screws that were just for this type of job.

He arrived on time, was polite and easy to talk to had great advice.

He was very nice. We have this door knob that keeps coming off. We have had other people look at it but he was the only one who has ever really been able to fix it. When he fixed our sink, he figured out that the legs under the sink just weren't in the right spot. He's very good.

He responded quickly and was on time. He did his job and did not stop until it was completed. We communicated will with each other and he was able to understand my needs.

Great! We are planning to use him again to hang new light fixtures/paintings/mirrors. He was extremely professional from start to finish. He returned our call promptly and was able to tell us what he could or couldn't do on our wish list. Called the day before to confirm our appointment and showed up right on time. I also thought his rate was reasonable. He'll be the handyman we use until we move out of the area!

He was prompt, courteous, and provided high quality work.

When he came and looked at the things that needed to be fixed, he was able to help me with only a few items. For the faucet, he said it needed a specific part that needed to come from the manufacturer so couldn't do it. He looked at the icemaker on the fridge and said I needed to call an appliance repairman, and it was the same thing with the stove. He did have good recommendations on the tile in front of the fireplace and said he'd refer me to someone that could custom fit a wood molding between the tile and the wood floor. After 3.5 hours the only thing we did get done was installation of the solar powered flood lights outside, which, to my dismay, stopped working after a few days. I felt that he was honest in giving me the assessment but I was frustrated nevertheless and wondered if I should have just called a plumber, an appliance repairman, and an electrician separately to handle each of the problems.

Excellent. Called Kenny and he promptly called back and scheduled the job for set time/date two weeks out. Kenny arrived exactly on time, reviewed the tasks to be done and estimated at that time that the work would take about 1/2 day. He charges $55/hr. He immediately started work, including trip to store on his own to purchase downspout material and selection/purchase of toilet-paper holder. The cost above includes the parts etc. that he bought. Kenny worked zealously throughout the time he was at the house. He is organized, skilled, smart, courteous, and very articulate. Overall, we thought he handled all the tasks very well and will call him again if ever the need for a handyman occurs.

It went very well. I sent a to-do-list with misc tasks. It was agreed to bill by the hour and work on projects by my priorities. He was comfortable saying that he did not have skills to do one job but gave recommendations and insights about the project and skill set needed. He was meticulous and neat with his work and easy to have in your home.

I have used him for other jobs and I am quite happy with his work. He was very professional and came out very quickly after I called to request his help. I should note that he asks for a two-hour minimum and charges by the hour.

Ken's work is as excellent as ever, and very pleasant to work with. My biggest concern was that window and he cleaned it up with Windex and did a thorough check to figure out the possible leaking spots. My two ceiling fans were both flush mounting, and so even the ones that just need a new control has to be completely disassembled and reassembled; he was pretty quick and he made very certain that all the screws for the fans were tightly screwed in. He installed the shower curtain rod in amazingly short amount of time and did not crake any of the wall tiles (which was my biggest concern). Overall, I am very very happy with his work again. He is also very reasonably price per the hour, particularly in comparison to some of the handyman I have called on the Angie's List. Also, he will fit you into his schedule pretty fast and good on his work regarding the scheduling, very punctual to the schedule work day appointment, too. He is also very neat and tidy and cleaned up after himself.

Ken rocked! He was excellent, completely professional, punctual, efficient, and honest. He certainly is a jack of all trades. He performed all the work I mentioned above with the highest quality. He was always pleasant and positive, and kept me informed of progress and issues. He even gave me a follow-up call to tell me where I could find a product that he knew I was looking for. He exceeded our expectations and we hope to use him for any work of this type in the future.

Kenny was a pleasure to work with. He is reliable and professional. The finished project is very similar to what I envisioned. He preferred to communicate by e-mail. His response time was generally a day or two between e-mails, but his responses were reliable and the work was scheduled and completed in a timely fashion.
