PHS Locksmith

I called PHS because of reviews on Angie's List and the woman who answered the call was very helpful. When I described the problem, she asked about the lock brand and immediately knew the problem. She was able to send someone out within the hour (on a Saturday) and he was able to replace the plastic cylinder with a much more durable metal one. The work itself took less than 15 minutes and the lock is working perfectly.

The locksmith arrived on time on a saturday. He evaluated the situation after we told him our needs. He gave us choices that he carefully explained. He was very thorough and was able to meet our needs . While he had to order some materials for us, he returned in a timely way and installed them. He cleaned up after himself . He was a very knowlegable craftsman . As we have an older home it was important that we had someone with sufficent experience to deal with our situation. We would use them again

Al and his assistant did excellent work on a big job. All the locks are operating as they should.

I called PHS based upon the many good reviews here and elsewhere, expecting to be met with the same kind service described. And though I never actually made it through the phone call, I feel I must comment for the sake of those reading these reviews who may also expect kind and courteous service. I called to see if PHS would be able to take a look at my vintage lockset and see if it could be make to work, or if it could be replaced. I bought a salvaged door that I'd really like to use. Who better to call than a locksmith, right? Wrong. I couldn't even finish my sentence -- it was met with "we don't do it", "we don't work on garbage." Seriously? I would by a new mortise set, happily, in order to use this gorgeous door. Not to mention that I need all of the exterior locks in my home reworked following a recent remodel, and was hoping that this business could do all of the work. I'm disappointed.

From the moment the technician walked into my home I knew this was going to be a good experience. He listened well and then checked out the problems areas. He showed me what needed to be done to fix the back door and made several great suggestions. His entire attitude and work ethic were top-notch! The work was completed within a reasonable amount of time, he cleaned up after himself and he went over the results with me to make sure everything was fine. I was greatly imipressed with this service!

PHS was very prompt, efficient and affordable. I will use them again for any locksmith needs.

Over Columbus Day weekend someone broke into our garage, broke a car window, and took our car stereo and GPS. We called PHS based on their excellent reports on Angie's list and the recommendation from a contractor. They were very responsive. Al came to our house within an hour, determined what we needed, got what he needed from the shop, and installed a new deadbolt and changed the cylinder in the other lock. From start to finish the job took about 2 hours. He was very friendly and professional. He explained everything he was going to do, explained how the thief was able to gain access (easier than I thought!), and gave me prices on average- and better-quality locks. I chose the higher-quality!. I was very pleased with all aspects of the work, including the price. I have had less than positive experiences with other locksmiths so I was a bit apprehensive but there was no need to worry. I will call them again when we decide to rekey our house locks. I would strongly recommend them.

We just bought a new house and needed to have our locks changed. The locksmith was able to come the same day that we called and was very knowledgeable. He kept costs down by using some of the hardware that we had on other doors in the house. Overall, we were very pleased and will recommend to others.

I called PHS and the lady who answered the phone told me about a few things to try that I hadn't tried and said if I couldn't get the door open to call back. It was just a door to the basement which has another entrance anyway so it wasn't an emergency that had to be done right away. By the time that I called back, it was too late to get someone the same day and Phil suggested another locksmith who was located closer as he wouldn't be able to come out that same day. I told him that since I had another way in by going outside the house that I could wait until the following day. Phil came out came out the next day and got the door opened at a lower price than the estimate thanks to the discount given to Angie's List members. I highly recomend Phil and PHS Locksmiths. Fast service. Excellent price. Excellent quality of work. Professionalism above and beyond. This is a good example of why I use Angie's Last!

He was not able to revise the old home made plates because the other company we used did some shady work. He gave me a lot of options that I could do, so I went with one of those options. He was very thorough about all the option and what each of them would cost and what he recommended. We got him off the list, so we got a discount. The total cost was$193.93 and we got a 10% off. I would tell others that he is honest, thorough and he does good work.

They were flexible with scheduling and showed up on time. The locksmith was professional and courteous and very helpful in explaining what he was doing as well as advice for how to maintain/repair it myself in the future. I would use them again.

Arrived as promised. Price was as expected. Very neat and took only a few minutes. I'd highly recommend them to family and friends.

I called in the morning and they sent someone within 3 hours. Phil was very professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem as more of a door hanging problem than lock problem. He corrected the door problem and also replaced a strikeplate and reconditioned the cylinder.

I scheduled a visit, and they came out exactly on time. They found that there was merely something stuck within the knob, and they fixed it. We offered to pay for it, and to our surprise, they refused payment. I have used them on several occasions, and I have always found them incredibly professional. I highly recommend them.

The service couldn't have been better.

The person who came responsive and punctual. The first day he came was to check and he did not charge me anything for that. He came again the next day and spent 5 hours replacing 2 locks and re keyed 3 locks. He was very thorough, explained what he was doing and was very helpful.

We had an excellent experience. The locksmith arrived right on time and completed the job quickly. We were completely satisfied. The amount charged seemed fair for the work done and materials used.

Very accommodating with dates and times to perform the service. Serviceman arrived on time and provided a number of solutions to a 100+ year old front door lock and a 50+ year old garage lock, which were not conducive to most modern lock systems. Security benefits with various price ranges for each option where well explained. In addition to putting in a more secure lock on the garage, PHS made suggestions on how to improve security to the garage and prevent break-ins. PHS went above and beyond and showed a true interest in the safety and security of my family.

I called PHS late in the day on a Friday & happened to get Al, who I believe is an owner & their head locksmith & usually isn't the one to anser the phone. I had a lot of questions about various types of locks and Al was patient & knowledgeable in discussing bump-proof locks, deadbolts, older mortise style locks, etc. We arranged for him to come out & do a free estimate the following week, and he was prompt, courteous, and willing to give advice when asked, but without any type of hard sell or pushiness. Al gave me a written quote that provided several different deadbolt options so that I could discuss them with my husband before choosing one. I stopped by the PHS retail store with some follow-up questions and key work, and the counter staff there was helpful as well, and they had Al call me to arrange acceptance of his bid. Al would have been able to do this work within a couple of days, but there was a part I wanted (a particular color for purely aesthetic reasons) that they don't keep in stock, so he said they would order it & call me in a couple of weeks when the part came in. 12 days later, on a Monday, I got a call from Kathy (I believe she's the other owner, also friendly & professional) to let me know the part was in & to schedule the work. Al came out two days after that (exactly two weeks after we'd agreed on the terms of the job) and all went smoothly & quickly on the job itself, which took a couple of hours. I received around a $20 Angies List discount.

Overall, it couldn't have gone any better, I don't think. They finished the job in 2.75 hours which wasn't bad considering the amount of keys and locks they had to "re-key" (approx. 8). Super happy with the overall experience.
