HOUSE OF HEAT

Provider arrived as scheduled and I explained to him as many details as I could and he went right to it. I was expecting him to tell me the electronic board was shot and need to be replaced (over $300). I was so relieved when he told me that it was a loose wire connection and needed to be tightened. The furnace works just fine!

My Boiler has not had a "tune-up" for a couple of years. I contacted House of Heat to schedule an appointment.The tech (Marty) arrived on time.He cleaned the burners,combustion area and the pilot orifice. Checked boiler pressure,adjusted boiler pressure,drained expansion tank.Checked the electrode,gas valve,limit control He explained everything he did and answered all my questions. He also gave me tips for upkeep of the boiler.I was very satisfied and would use them again.

Marty was very friendly and efficient. He explained his diagnosis of the malfunction and what he was going to do to fix it. Overall, I am really pleased with the service and how quick he got the job done.

My air conditioning went out on a Sunday & I called House of Heat first thing Monday morning. They were out by 10 a.m. that same day and had us cool again in about an hour. The technician who came out could not have been nicer and was right on time. He was both courteous and knowledgeable. I have used House of Heat for my heating & cooling needs since I moved to Oak Park in the 1980's and I would recommend them to anyone. They are a quality shop.

House of Heat serviced the AC/heating units in my condo. Everything went very well. Making the initial appointment was easy and I was able to order a replacement humidifier pad at that time. My technician, Pat, was excellent. He was competent and answered all of my questions and cleaned up. I selected this company based on AngiesList reviews instead of one I used for a number of years. I will definitely recommend House of Heat to others.

The work was well done although it took a little longer to get everything quoted and scheduled than expected based upon the first service call but once the job was completed, we were happy with the work.

aTotally fine from start to finish. We got proposals from 4 companies and House of Heat was best tuned to our needs and also came in with an aggressive price. The owner, David King, was efficient in estimating the job, including recommending a more moderately priced unit since we are away for much of the summer. That saved over $500 as A/C unit could be passed up through the trap door of our condo, and we avoided the expense of a separate crane. The crew arrived on time, and completed the task in a day., cleanup was super and they were quiet and polite as they went about their business.

It went very, very well. They provided us with several options. Once we settled on the option that best suited our needs, they immediately scheduled the work. It all progressed on time. The crew came when they said and finished at a predictable time. Clean-up was spotless and the system works better than the original system. We have used House of Heat for several years and have never, ever been disappointed. This is one of Oak Park's premier service providers.

We had some water dripping from our boiler blow off valve, so we did some research on Angie's list and found the House of Heat. They received great reviews, so we called them to check out our boiler. Marty came out. He is very personable and knowledgeable. He troubleshot and fixed the problem quickly at a good price. We moved to Brookfield recently, and were looking for a good heating company. We plan to use Marty and the House of Heat again for our future heating needs.

Boiler would heat to temperature and shut off, pilot would go out. After relighting pilot several times to restart I made the call. Pat from House of Heat arrived early and eliminated the "weekend overtime" charge. His assessment of my symptoms called for a new thermocoupling. When I told him that it was replaced less than a year ago, he showed me the crack in it and said it needed replacing. He also said maybe the pilot kept going out because the flame was small and the backdraft smothered it. He understood I was skeptical having done this before. He explained this seems like the appropriate action to take, "let's see how it does and if it doesn't work, call me and I'll come back, no charge." Pat also said, let's not change anything else until we determine it is necessary. I was pleased with his reasoning and my savings.

I was impressed with the thoroughness and time spent on our fall furnace checkup by the House of Heat rep. He did not just rush through, like some other providers have. He also made some helpful suggestions.

Great. House of Heat has been keeping our old furnace running for 15 years now. We mostly call to have routine maintenance done (cleaning the ignition, pilot burner, etc), but they've also had to replace thermocouples and the condensation pump for the A/C unit. Way back in 1998 we purchased a new A/C unit. We're happy with House of Heat and recommend them without reservations. They show up at the scheduled time, explain how they'll fix the issue (if there is one) and report on general condition of furnace when they're done. We plan to purchase a new furnace from them shortly and are confident we'll get a good deal.

It went well. I have had the problem before. It is a design issue within the building drain system, not a House of Heat issue. I have used this company for many, many years and have found them to be very professional , thorough, and responsible.

Howard was very knowledgable and polite. He did a lot of work in a little time and saved us some money. We will definitely use him again.

We recently moved into a house where the furnace and AC were very old - likely installed in the 80s. We thought we might be able to squeeze another year out of them. I had someone from House of Heat come and check on the AC earlier this summer, and while he was at our place he gave the furnace a once over and discovered that the exchanger was cracked and that carbon monoxide could leak out. So, we decided to replace right away and and figured it was better to do both the furnace and AC at once and be done with it. I couldn't wait to replace those old pieces of junk with new, more efficient models. We got an estimate from House of Heat and also another local company and the prices were similar. The reviews for the other place were very mixed and it seemed like the experience (good or terrible) depended on the service person you happen to get, and I had the feeling that I'd be taking less of a chance with House of Heat. A couple months passed from when we got the estimate and when they actually did the work (complications on our end), but all of my questions during that time were answered promptly. Then we had to scramble to get a permit at the last minute after scheduling the work. Both Roger and Dave were helpful and accommodating throughout the process. The men who installed the units were friendly and worked quickly. There was a miscommunication about whether or not they were installing a humidifier, but that was rectified easily. Overall, we are happy with our experience and will continue to call House of Heat for future maintenance and repairs. It's also very helpful that they send the rebate packet with clear instructions - very easy to fill out.

The serviceman arrived at 7:30 as scheduled. The work was completed within 45 min so I could leave for work on time. I have worked with this company for over 30 years. They are great.

House of Heat was great! One other contractor had come out, took one look at our ancient furnace, and was instantly overwhelmed. We wanted a contractor that had experience with older homes and upgrading old equipment. House of Heat came out and gave us the quote quickly and scheduled the work soon after we signed the contract. Dave saw our furnace and was familiar with it and seemed confident with the job. Their quote was comprehensive and they gathered information on all the possible rebates we might be eligible for so that we could compare final prices for the many different options we had. This allowed us to get better equipment for a lower cost. They even prepared all of the rebate information for us upon completion so that all we had to do was sign and mail in one of the forms. Their work was thorough and efficient. Since it was summer, they made sure to get the AC working first and came back a few days later to finish the work on the furnace. We had a couple minor issues, which were not really House of Heat's fault, and they were so responsive and accommodating. They took responsibility for their work and made sure everything was done to our satisfaction, even small things that were over and above. We will be using them for maintenance as well and like the fact that they have emergency weekend services if needed. They are easy to get ahold of via phone or email and very responsive and professional.

The first service call was to inspect AC system (barely blowing cold air). The tech found a frozen line resulting from a pinhole freon leak. We had to turn the system (at least the cooling) off for a day to allow the ice to melt. The tech then came back and added freon and a stop-leak substance. So far so good. The charge for the first visit was $89. and the repair visit came to roughly $320. House of Heat is a solid contractor and has always done good work. Be aware that they do not accept credit cards.

I have been using them for 23 years and I am happy with their service.

This is my second review of House of heat. Once again they surpassed my expectations. AC went out in the midst of a heat wave. I called and someone came out the next day. As I suspected the most economical repair was a replacment. The owner came out to quote us the next day. I had researched prices and units and knew what I wanted and had an idea of the cost. His recommendation matched my choice and his pricing was spot on. He also recommended I replace my very aged furnance to achieve maximum efficiency from my new AC. That also matched what I had learned from my research. Two days later they were installing my new equipment. They worked a solid 12 hours that day so that we had AC up and working. Our sick baby and my mom were very appreciative! They also took great care around the plants in the garden. Overall they were courteous, friendly and professional. I am glad to have them in the neighborhood.

all is good now....easy problem, but good service..do not know if gave angies labor discount..

Fine but expensive for the little that needed to be done.
