If you need heating or cooling, don't think twice. Use these guys.
Description of Work: These guys the real deal and are second to none. I've used them multiple times for projects big and small. Most recently they installed a new furnace and AC including all the duct work. I couldn't have asked for it to go any better. The dual zone system they put in works really well and the installers were total professionals. Dave the owner takes care to discuss the best options for the job in advance then communicates clearly with his team and takes the time to check in on progress regularly throughout the project. Frank headed up the install team. He is 100% amazing. Tons of experience, never gets flustered and always has creative solutions for the unexpected challenges that always arise.

The technician that responded (Howard) was extremely kind and very professional. He explained the proper annual maintenance of the system, conducted a VERY through cleaning of our boiler, and put everything, including a borrowed tool, back in place.
Description of Work: What started out as a suspected relay switch issue, turned out to be nothing. What they did find was that our boiler had not been cleaned since it was installed, probably 15-20 years prior.

I will use nobody but them. They stand by their work. They do a good job. They're the only people I'll go with.
Description of Work: I've used House of Heat. I saw them a couple of months ago. I had a new radiator put in and some changing of older radiator and adjustment and movement. I had bought one, two new radiators and I bought a valve that changed one. I have another room, quite a large room and the basement radiator can't start, they needed to be jiggled and raised up a little bit. They weren't as close to the carpet on the floor. They did all of that.

They had to put a new zone on the radiator so they would go to the basement, great, fine. Then, later on, one of the zone thing, died and it died about a week after the warranty was over. I called them. They came over, no problem, replaced it for free. I love that guy.

My 28-year-old boiler sprang a leak one evening - I called House of Heat around 10pm, and the person on the phone listened to details and we decided that it wasn't an emergency. They came the next morning, and offered to either fix or replace - because the boiler was so old, and the repair wasn't cheap, I decided to replace. They came the following day, old boiler out and the new one in in about 7 hours - the guy said that sometimes it's longer, sometimes shorter, it just depends on the system they have to hook in to. Price seems fair, and the new boiler works great.

even though Our central A/C was still blowing air but it was no longer cool. The fan in the exterior unit was no longer moving. HoH came out to take a look and determined that the fan motor was shot, and there potentially were issues with the condenser itself also. We paid the standard service call fee of ~$100 as expected. HoH then gave us a very detailed, helpful quote that listed out a variety of repair/replacement options. It included repair of the existing unit, replacement of the existing unit, replacement of both A/C and furnace (which was functioning but old and had been repaired several times in recent years), and replacement of both units with other upgraded features. The tiered quote was appreciated and gave us better means of comparison with the quotes given by other companies. Ultimately HoH's costs were higher than the other companies' and we went with a different service provider. We have had HoH do repairs for us in the past and have been satisfied with the work, and although this time was just a diagnostic service call and follow up quoting, it was still a good experience. We would consider HoH for future work.

The motor on the AC wore out, and I needed the unit moved so another company could address some foundation problems. They gave me estimates for the cost of repairing the unit vs replacing it - it's 8 years old, so I decided to repair and hopefully I'll get another 5-8 years out of it. No issues, and the day's work came in a bit less than the estimate.

It cost me $3.01 to fix the blower motor on my furnace. I didn?t need to replace the blower motor for an estimated $1,000. I didn?t need to replace my furnace for $3,800. I spent $3.01 to fix the blower motor on my furnace. On July 18th, my blower motor stopped working. As I was trying to diagnose the problem, I found a service sticker on the side of my furnace from the House of Heat. (We?ve only owned the house for 2 years and haven?t had a need to call for service on the HVAC system.) I spoke to the answering service and arranged for a service call first thing Sunday morning. The service technician called before arriving to make certain that I was willing to pay for the emergency weekend call before showing up. I assured him that I was so willing. The service technician showed up and was very courteous. I escorted him to the utility room where he examined my furnace. A short time later, he joined me in the kitchen where he informed me that I would need a new blower motor which would cost $1,000. He went on to tell me that since my furnace was approximately 10 years old, I should consider replacing it entirely which would cost $3,800 because if something else on the furnace broke after spending $1,000 on the blower I would be angry with him. I thanked him for his help and advice, wrote a check for $175.76 and he was on his way. I started doing some research. What I found is that the variable speed blower motor is a little more expensive than the norm. I found pricing around $400 so I guess that labor on a blower fan replacement is $600. I also found that my furnace carried a 20 year warranty on certain parts like the heat exchanger. So, why is it necessary in the service technician?s opinion to replace a 10 year old furnace? For $3,800? I did some more research. And I found that sometimes, this blower motor issue is caused by the failure of a part call a thermistor (which costs $3.01). The thermistor is found on the control unit which is attached to the back of the blower motor. So, I removed the control unit and found that, in fact, the thermistor showed signs of failure. A little careful soldering including the replacement of the part which failed on the board and I had the blower up and running?for $3.01 plus $175.76. I can?t exactly explain all of this. I?m not trained in HVAC or running an HVAC service business which makes it difficult for me to judge. Maybe the service technician wasn?t trained well. Or maybe he was unfamiliar with my furnace brand. What I do know is that I knew nothing more after the service technician left than before he showed up. I also know that I had to solve my own problem in the most cost effective manner. I guess I would likely be a poor HVAC service business owner. After all, what is the margin on a $3.01 repair? So, caveat emptor. Be willing to move deliberately when faced with a potentially large repair and ask questions and do the research.

During an annual inspection I was informed that my old (30 plus years) forced air gas unit was leaking and dangerous to continue operating. A technician came out within a few days and I received a new estimate. I decided to install AC at the same time since there were cost savings involved. The workmen were professional, polite and worked extremely hard to install the new unit, including climbing onto the roof to put in a needed chimney liner. They cleaned up the work site completely and answered my questions. Will count on House of Heat for HVAC in the future.
