Very easy to work with, fast quality work

CertaPro Painters of Chicago did an excellent job painting the exterior of our home. TL’s team was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. We’ve received multiple compliments on their work by friends and family. Highly recommend them for all your painting needs!

Based on previous reviews, this contractor may do great work. However, his lack of professionalism and the heated way in which he spoke to me after a technology-related miscommunication left me uncomfortable pursuing a working relationship with him.

I contacted them through the messaging center on Angie's List on April 19, 2018 and never received a response. I did find someone else who was responsive. This company obviously does not want my business.

The team of painter assigned to our project were not the best painters. Communication between them and the general contractor was not the best. If it wasn't for total vigilance on our part they would have done a horrible job. The job did get done to our satisfaction, but it should have not been so stressful. Get everything in writing and always pay in installments, it's the consumers main leverage.

Someone was supposed to call me to set up a day and time to come out for a quote. Guy had two initials for a first name and I had to call twice and he still never called me.

They did great. I have used them multiple times. They had to redo some of the work they initially did, but they did come back and redo it.

The team was amazing!!!! They did such a great job and were so polite and professional. I was available to be home during the process, but they made sure to keep me in the loop if there were any questions about my color choices. They were so detailed and did such a great job. I really enjoyed working with them and most of all, felt very comfortable with them being in my home when I wasn't even there. The paint looks amazing and made such a big different to the look of our home.

They started the work and did it really good for the first two days, but the third and fourth day it seems to me that they were running out of time and were working in a rush, so the work in the third floor was not the same quality than the first and second floor the first two days: a clean, careful and nice painting. I can not say the same about the painting in the third floor: too many details, a lamp hanging in the bathroom, power and light switches painted (which means they did not take them out), my wood floor splattered with paint. Maybe they estimated wrongly the time they needed to have all the house painting. Other than that, they did a good job.

Jay Finnegan and the CertaPro team have been extremely professional and efficient since we first contacted them in August of 2014. After several months of house projects, we were finally able to have CertaPro finish the final touches in our 2 bathrooms. Not only was the team punctual; they took extra measures to make sure our floors were properly covered to avoid any damage prior to beginning the work. They were able to finish some major blemishes on the walls and ceilings of the bathrooms, and still complete the painting job near perfect in less than 7 hours. Needless to say, we highly recommend CertaPro - and will continue to use their services for future painting projects.

Exceptional and professional service. It is refreshing to experience someone deliver the service and quality they promised. The Cedar siding was in dire need of attention. The task of restoring the appearance of the building was completed only when I was completely satisfied. No questions asked. From the first inquiry Jay was prompt with responses and solutions to the concerns/questions I raised. Although the cost was a little bit higher than some prior bids, it was Jay who gave me the confidence that I had the right people for the job. And they did not disappoint. Crew was attentive to detail, prompt, courteous, and careful to remove debris. Plus, they stand behind their work! Recent high wind activity caused a repair to come undone...and they returned to fix it! CertaPro Painters of Chicago are truly a good investment for your decorating needs.

The service was fine. The work that they did was good, but the communication was not so good. The actual painters were outstanding, and showed up, but the representatives were not the best communicators.

It was alright. It wasn't as good as I would have liked it. The painting was perfect but they were a little sloppy. There was paint on the floor and spots on hardwood, paint on a new chair, and paint on a bedspread.

It was excellent. I would hire them again.

TL Ryan is customer oriented. Mixed reviews on the subcontractors hired to do the painting. I hired this company for two separate jobs that totaled 9K. Big investment - mixed results. Main rooms (living, dining, first floor bedroom) turned out nicer than closets and upstairs bedrooms which showed sloppier work. On the last day, during the walk through, one closet was overlooked and the painter rushed through it, resulting in a closet that was not primed properly so the original blue can be seen through the white. Several closet shelves were also missed and again the rush job shows - poor brushwork, no priming. They also did one coat of semi-gloss on the door trims (a second coat would have cost more money), and the quality of that job varies greatly. First floor - neatly done; second floor, sloppy brushwork (I have to re-do myself and with carpal tunnel, that will not be fun). They also left the house a mess - nails everywhere, wall plates on the floor, curtains in a pile on the sofa. TL did most of the cleanup himself and replaced some missing wall plates at no cost. For the second job (same house), I hired them to paint interior doors - they charge for each side of the door (so one door is actually two doors for pricing purposes) - and paint drywall, and to repaint and re-tread steps. Work was fine (a different subcontracting crew was used this time). There were two incomplete areas: I asked that the hinge footprint on the trim of a door that had been removed to be painted - this was not done. In addition, they replaced treads on basement steps but did not tack them as they were directed (supposed to be eight tacks total - four across the top; four across the bottom - they only put four in the overall tread). Interestingly, once I paid the final price, the normally responsive TL did not respond to my request to have these two final items fixed. So again, I had to fix what was missed. Both projects in the same home were to prepare for sale - so I hope to recoup these costs. I would not use this company for the home where I live. I think they are a little pricey because of the use of subcontractors and on balance a little too sloppy in areas that I would not want to look at every day (or have to re-do myself).

We had a new porch constructed to replace an old one. Then we hired CertaPro painters to do the paint work. T.L. came out promptly and wrote up an estimate that was submitted to me that evening. Out of 4 bidders they had the best price. It took me about a month to make up my mind, during which time they were the only ones who checked in with me to follow up. We had let the new cedar deck dry out for about a month and half before painting. Once I pulled the trigger, they had a team come out and pressure wash the porch to clean up any accumulated grime and dirt. Then a few days later their crew began the prep & paint work. They did a nice professional job all around, and were responsive to my feedback on some tiny details. In addition to the new wood, they repainted some old beams, door & window frames, and aluminum siding to make sure everything on the porch looked nice and new. The crew cleaned up after each day's work, and were polite and friendly. After the job T.L. came back for a final review and inspection of the work. I was happy with their performance on the job, and feel they gave me a good value for the money.

Really happy with the work. TL responded promptly throughout the entire process from estimate to service. He was out the same week as the initial call to take a look at the job and gave a proposal same day. Also appreciated was advisory comments on what to ask other providers on in terms of service and prep work. This helped us realize that some competitor bids were low because they were taking shortcuts. Once we chose Certapro, they were onsite within 2 weeks. The actual job was done in one day (faster than anticipated) and the painters and job quality were both very professional. Overall - a great experience.

TL was very friendly and professional. He came out for an estimate for the painting of our house, garage, and porch. He was very knowledgeable, made recommendations of work to be done but wasn't pushy, and answered all my questions. He emailed us an estimate the same day, and it was right in line with the others we ended up receiving. He made it clear also that he was willing to negotiate if needed in order to earn our business. He also followed up on two occasions while we were making our decision, but again, he wasn't pushy. In the end, we ended up deciding on a different contractor, but that in no way detracts from the professionalism and friendliness of the TL or the company. I would definitely call him again for other painting work to be done.

Overall a very positive experience. Timely quote, responsive follow up, aware of weather and our scheduling needs, neat and good work and good price. Well done.

They were good about getting me an estimate quickly, scheduling (and even rescheduling due to my work schedule), getting the job done quickly and thoroughly, and with minimal disruption for us.

Excellent job. Cracks in the walls have disappeared. They completed the task in one week as they had promised. Did not damage any furniture or artwork. Cleaned up after they left. Paint job was professional. Even added doorstops where needed to prevent door handles from chipping the paint off the walls. Where I found a minor deficiency in the painting, they gladly corrected it. The price they quoted at the beginning of the job was not changed. They were prompt and punctual in coming to the apartment to provide an estimate. Work began promptly after I notified them that their proposal was accepted.

Everything was so easy. They came in and estimated the entire job and did everything they said they were going to do and a few extras that we did not expect...without the original estimated amount changing. They really went above and beyond as far as professionalism, service, and quality of workmanship go. I would HIGHLY recommend Jay and TL and their team to anyone who needs any painting done. We have had so many compliments on the job since they finished that we lost count.

They did a fantastic job. They used a baby friendly zero-VOC paint that didn?t overwhelm the house with paint fumes. The painting itself was way better than if we had tried to do it ourselves ? straight lines, even coverage, no paint on the floor, etc. We were nervous about having people in our house during the day working without us being there to supervise, but each night when we got home, we were amazed at the amount of progress that had been made. They also cleaned up after themselves each day, which didn?t have to be done since we weren?t living in the house yet. T.L.was great. He gave us suggestions for how to save some money when he came out to do the estimate, called to ask questions to make sure he knew what we wanted during the job, and came back after to fix a couple of things we things we thought needed a touch up. It was more expensive than the other estimate we got, but you get what you pay for. It was worth every penny. They will be back when we are ready to paint the exterior.
