Andy Sjostrom Handyman Services

Called Andy Sjostrom to provide an estimate to replace wood trim on my exterior windows. They easily accomodated me with an appointment, but then didn't show up. When I called 30 minutes after the appointment, 2 people were there within a few minutes, so I felt that it was a forgivable mistake with the scheduling. However, it's been two weeks since then and I haven't recieved an estimate or any follow-up. The work I requested is in conjuction with other work to be done on our house, so I can't use someone that doesn't keep to a promised schedule and put the other contractors schedules at risk. The frustrating part of this is that I'm trying to plan a lot of work, thought I had a reliable contractor based on comments on Angies List, and now I'm having to start the search for this portion of the job over again.

Andy Sjostrom is a joy to work with from start to finish! He is a magician handy man - I love it that all I've had to do is point at something that's broken in my home and he CAN fix it! I'm having him back for more of those handyman type repairs I've been putting off. Andy also contracted with a highly skilled floor specialist who installed a breathtakingly beautiful ceramic tile floor in my kitchen and the grout job is impeccable too! Andy is personable, courteous and clearly takes pride in his work. I will definitely work with Andy again - I'm hanging on to this gem of a guy!!!

I contacted Andy via email about trim and carpentry services, even thou he did not service the area we live in, he responded within few hours. He recommended someone who does service our area and I will be meeting with him later this week for an estimate. Form this short interaction I can tell that Andy provides great customer service.

He came for the estimate and was very friendly and professional. He didn't get back to me right away on the schedule of when the job would be completed, but once I called to check, he said he could come the next day. He arrived promptly and was very conscious about keeping the area clean while he was working. He was nearly done in a couple hours, and decided to make a special trip to get a larger, more appropriate face plate for our light switch, and did not charge us for the time to go get it. He completed the work on time, and asked where we had gotten his name- when I told him Angie's List, he offered up his 5% discount for AL customers- I didn't have to ask for it. Overall, he was courteous, respectful, and did a great job, even offering up some suggestions for other work we may need to do in the future. I would definitely hire Andy again!

Andy came out on March 13 to give me an estimate for some simple jobs: fix doorknob, replace ceiling fan, and plane a wooden window. He told me he was engaged in a large project but could fit me in and told me how many hours work would be involved. That was the last I heard from him. His website states that he will respond to emails within 24 hours so after 10 days of no contact, I emailed him. Still no response. If he didn't want the job, I wish he would have told me--there are plenty of others who do want the work listed here on Angie's list.

Installed smoke/carbon monoxide alarm. Very efficient & neat. Consulted about other projects. UPDATE On 1/31 Andy Sjostrom sent an email to apologize,explain problem, and offered to do one hour of free service.

The whole thing was great from start to finish. Every contact was followed up with a confirmation email. Tony came and spoke to us first--he was very professional. We were subsequently given a prompt and fair estimate. They arrived on time and were done quickly and cleanly; they also explained what they were doing and why. We are very impressed and will definitely call on them to perform the other tasks we discussed later this year. It is such a relief to have found them.

Andy removed the fixtures and then removed and replaced all the subflooring and flooring. He laid a new ceramic floor on top of the replaced floor and did everything in a timely manner. He and his crew were punctual, professional and kept the area clean. I would definitely use his services again. He was approachable, always willing and able to answer questions in a professional, polite and friendly manner.

The estimate was done at the time arranged, and the workmen showed up promptly on the date agreed. They arrived at the job site with all the materials (which were included in the price). The work proceeded as planned, no surprises, no delays, no mistakes. Overall, an excellent result on a job that was varied and fairly complicated. They also had a good suggestion about modifying the original plan, which worked out better than the original idea.

Andy Sjostrom Handyman Services has worked on three projects for me and I?ve been very happy with the results. The company representatives (Andy or Tony) who visited to do estimates and check on how things were progressing, were both very pleasant and professional. They and their workers were cooperative, easy to work with, flexible when I had to make schedule changes, and were good problem solvers. They were also easy to reach by email or phone and responded promptly when I contacted them. They went out of their way to make the projects a success and I was pleased with the quality of their work. I would certainly recommend them to others who want a quality job and a company with a ?can-do? attitude.

Andy was great! Easy to schedule the appointment. Arrived on time. Explained what he planned to do, what he did and asked if I wanted him to follow-up to see if everything was okay.

My old mirror broke and I needed the new one hung. I e-mailed Andy and received a prompt response. His associate, Tony, was prompt in scheduling the work, although their company is always busy. It is a medium-sized mirror and was hung just where I wanted, level and properly centered in the space. The project was challenging, because my house is 100 years old, and this wall is not completely flat. I can always count on Andy and Tony to do an excellent job, whether it be large or small.

I have an old air conditioner in the basement that I wanted installed in a bedroom window. Tony told me it was too powerful for the size of the room and would cause condensation problems. I do not have a car and had house guests coming. Tony took it upon himself to go to the home improvement store that same day and purchase the proper size unit for me. He returned in a couple of hours and installed it. Installation was complicated by the fact that the unit is small and the window is nearly 3' wide. Tony created a wood panel to fill the space between the unit's accordion panel and the side of the window frame. He was able to use odd pieces of wood that I already had in my basement and garage, thereby reducing costs. The installation looks attractive, and the air conditioner works well for the size of the room. The price listed above includes shopping time and the cost of the new air conditioner.

A rod broke in one of our closets, and I was having a hard time fixing it for multiple reasons--it was quite long and anchored in a difficult to remove way, plus the walls supporting it were very difficult to use in order to support the rod. We were in a rush to fix this because our clothes were piled in the nursery and we're expecting a baby soon--Andy couldn't do the work himself because he taking a vacation soon and was booked up until then, but he nonetheless gave great advice on the best way to set up the closet, get the material, and who to contact to get it installed quickly. Considering that he was this helpful and we couldn't even hire him, we'll definitely be sure to use him in the future!

Andy was on time, cleaned up after he finished each day, and was able to suggest alternative solutions for the problem with the wooden steps. Overall, I was very impressed and plan to use him again on a variety of tasks.

Excellent. Easy online job submission and called promptly. Set up an apppointment for an evaluation and then the repair and was extremely punctual. Very knowledgeable about the issue and fixed it without any problems, including showing me what was wrong and how I could fix it myself if necessary. Very friendly and professional.

Andy was very professional, showed up on time to give us an estimate. Was open to all the "little" asks we had. Made recommendations on how best to address each ask. Returned an estimate in a reasonable amount of time. Once we confirmed his work, he gave us exact dates that he would work and the order in which he would do the jobs. Was extremely respectful of our home and left everything clean and complete the first time. We would absolutely hire him again for any/all jobs.

Everything went great. Not only did Andy do a great job in the price range I expected, but he also set and managed my expectations and cleaned everything up before he left. I strongly recommend Andy.

Overall, he did a great job. His service is well worth the cost and I consider it to be very fair for the level of work he does. I will definitely utilize him again. My first impression was this is a bit pricey! On the day of service he arrived promptly at 8:23a (was scheduled for 8:30a), he had a friendly, polite disposition and immediately began to work. He had to leave out to get some additional supplies during the job. He came and informed me where he was going and approximately when to expect him back ( he came back well before the time frame he stated he would return). He did the bathrooms, pantries and mirror installations ( the window hardware installation is priced as blind installation and was too costly for the number of windows). At each point of his task he asked me to review, made sure I understood what he had done and cleaned up after himself. At the end of service I made mention of several other items I would be contacting him back for. Andy asked what each was and walked through the building attempting to resolve what he could and/or giving me suggestions on how he would resolve them or how I could do them myself. He also advised me on how to book the next service call to get the most for my money. It was all good. During his visit other workmen were in the building. Specifically an exterminator due to some millipedes because of basement work being done. Andy opened windows on the enclosed rear porch and suggested we open the windows and doors in the unit to make sure the air circulated with the pesticide present. The mirrors are beautifully hung and secure. One of the same workmen who told me it couldn't be done looked at them and said (embarassed) "Oh yeah well it's because he..." Andy got'er done! Great job.

After a bedroom ceiling started leaking water -a week before Xmas-we called Andy for help. He not only diagnosed the issue but referred us to a great HVAC specialist to fix the source of the leak. Then, Andy and his teammate fixed the ceiling w/dry wall so it looks brand new. Andy also completed some other small fix it projects we haven't been able to get to - repairing bathroom tiles, leaky faucets and patching up kitchen drywall our puppy chewed into. Overall, Andy listened very carefully to our requests, was thoughtful about recommendations/repairs and very professional (timely, communicated well, work completed as stated).

Loved the tact that I could make an estimate appointment online and before work, and that Andy was so easy to contact via email. Punctual, professional, and did quality work. Good experience.

It was a very positive experience all around. I booked an appoint for an estimate through Andy's answering service. I received an email confirmation of the appointment. Andy arrived for the estimate on time, was very professional and consultative, and emailed me the proposal within 24 hours. He came out to do the work within a week or so, and completed the project in 2 days as he estimated. Andy emailed me after the first day of work with a status update. My wife and I were very happy with Andy's work. The new deck boards were solid, and he did some additional work beyond the scope of the proposal to reinforce the stability of the deck railings since they needed it. He informed me ahead of time that as he removed some of the deck framing that it was possible that he might find a few small additional things that we couldn't see at the outset. Since we have kids playing on the back deck, I was on board with doing whatever was necessary to make sure the deck railings were strong. He didn't charge for the additional labor, and the $75 charge for the additional materials was more than reasonable. The back entry door was very nicely done, and it feels solid. We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of Andy's work, his responsiveness, and his professionalism.

Andy arrived promptly and got to work. He started with the shutters and then installed the mailbox. He was so efficient, in fact, that the price I was quoted dropped considerably. Andy is honest and does quality work. I highly recommend him!

I called Andy to estimate repairing the seal around my toilet. He explained that since my toilet was old and had problems beyond just leaking around the seal (the flapper didn't fit well anymore) it may be worth my while to replace it. There was no pressure. He emphasized that his cost would be almost the same to remove/replace the toilet to replace the seal as it would to install a new one. He offered to pick up my toilet at Home Depot and haul the old one away. That is what we ended up doing. He brought an associate to help him this morning and they got the work done on schedule and on budget. I would not hesitate to call Andy again for plumbing or electrical issues.
