Description of Work: I requested a free quote for Asbestos Removal. Tom responded quickly and agreed to meet me the next morning. He arrived on time, surveyed the area, took measurements and photos and explained the process they would use to remove the asbestos from old pipes and an old furnace in a building built over 100 years ago. Tom indicated he’d email a quote by the next day. I received the quote which was slightly lower than the other quotes I had obtained. He was very responsive to my questions. A two man crew performed the work. They explained how they accomplished the removal by safely encapsulating the pipes in plastic and breaking up the asbestos into the plastic wrapping. After the asbestos was removed and the air was cleaned, a third party air testing consultant tested the air and provided a written report that showed there was no asbestos in the air. The crew cleaned up well and the basement was cleaner than it was before they started. I was very satisfied with their work and asked whether they fixed efflorescence. Tom indicated they did so I asked for a quote. Tom said he found some evidence of black mold. I asked for a quote and got a couple of quotes from other companies. KEM’s quote was competitive and I decided to have them do that work as well. Tom was very accommodating in scheduling the job as soon as possible which was the day after I signed the contract. Daniel and Juan worked hard and did a fantastic job cleaning and sealing the exterior walls and they cleaned some interior walls as well. I was very impressed by how clean everything was when they were finished. I highly recommend KEM. They really care about customer satisfaction.

Description of Work: I had asbestos removed from my basement pipes in order to have a water meter installed. Mr. Flynn & his team arrived on time, professional, friendly, and did an amazing job. Upon completion, I was asked to come and review their work, and not one speckle of dust on the pipes, floors, appliances, no where to be found. Please use this company!

+ -1 moreWe needed to have the asbestos shingles removed from our garage. I called Tom Flynn, and within a few working days he had looked at garage and gave me an estimate over the phone. I got one slightly lower estimate, but because of the nature of the work and the good recommendations KEM had on this website and the company's BBB membership I decided to go with KEM. They came out about two weeks later (it takes 10 days to even get a permit to remove asbestos in cook county) and finished the job in half a day. Unfortunately, the crew removed a very small evergreen tree that my neighbor had planted close to our garage. When I called Tom and told him about this he said his crew needed to lay down plastic 4 feet out from the garage, so they had to pull it, and he offered to pay for the tree ($20). The check came quickly. I would definitely hire Tom and KEM again, though I hope I never have to.

+ -1 moreTom was wonderful. I called him at 4:30 pm to see when he could come out. He was there at 8:30 am the next morning. Tom is very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all of my questions, explained the procedure for removing the tile properly and disposing of it, as per all of the rules and regulations. He is a nice guy who really knows his business. I felt confident the job would be done right. We don't know yet if we are doing the work, or if he purchasers are going to ask for a credit. If we are going to do the work, we will DEFINITELY use Tom.

+ -1 moreTom and his team were very professional and did a great job!! They were on time, courteous and very cautious about removing the tile given its a hazardous material. I'd definitely recommend them. As for price their quote was comparable to others. It's just expensive to do this type of work due to all the regulations.
