Description of Work: I was not happy with the garage door opener that was installed and the installers did not take the time to explain how to lock the door.

Description of Work: AR-BE Garage Doors Ins. installed a garage door for me approximately 15 years ago and it worked well. So we called them again to replace the system. Unfortunately, the newer system they installed was nothing but trouble from start to finish. The owner unapologetically refused to ever come out or even acknowledge the mistakes his men had done. The men had installed the system in record time. The door only raised part way and would stop. We had to manually pull the door down. When the men returned they 'toyed' with the switch and did not have a clue as to how to connect electrical wires or how to solve the problems that they had caused. |I had to hire an electrician (from Angie's list) to undo the total damage that was done. The Electrician did an outstanding job. But we had to pay AR-BE and the Electrician for a garage door opener and 3 remotes. Not worth the trouble. |I also filed a complaint with the BBB, serving Chicago & Northern Illinois. They were unable to make AR-BE take responsibility for their workmanship.

Description of Work: My garage door came off it's track. I called this company because their sticker was on the door. They came out (15 minutes after the 2 hour time window they'd given me). The tech looked at the door from the OUTSIDE (never came into the garage to see the problem) and told me that I needed a new door and that it would cost $780. I told him to leave. Another company came out and put it back on its track and serviced it in 15 minutes; $75. Unprofessional bordering on criminal.

Description of Work: The garage door had a busted spring which cause the door to fail to open. I have used AR BE in the past because of their excellent workmanship, cost and attention to detail. They were one of the lower repair quotes and offered to do the job within the next day. The repairman showed up on time and completed the repair within the time frame quoted. Upon completion the area was clean and broken parts removed.

Although the company had my home and work phone numbers, as well as my email address, it has been over 24 hours and I have not heard a peep from them. I contacted three companies through Angie's List; of the three, I have only heard from THE ONE who is out of town and not able to provide an estimate until Sunday. He's got the job -- by default!

Description of Work: The service tech was on time and showed me what was wrong. The two eyes for the automatic garage door were not lined up. He showed me how to lubricate the track every few months. HE WROTE DOWN THE INFORMATION I WOULD NEED TO TELL ANOTHER SERVICE ON THE PHONE TO MAKE SURE THEY HANDLED THAT BRAND OF DOOR. CHUCK WAS COURTEOUS, APOLOGETIC, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR THE SERVICE CALL.
