AR-BE Garage Doors

Jim knows his garage doors! We have an older garage with an even older door. The job required several boards to be replaced. The two gentlemen that did the work were polite and cleaned up afterwards. The finished product is fantastic!

Jim Rutt was very pleasant and helpful during the initial estimate process - including suggesting changing the door to an out-swing and from a left hinge to a right hinge. Now the entire concrete entry pad/step to the garage is usable, and it is much easier to move around the car with the entry door open. It took about 2 weeks before the door could be installed. The work was completed quickly, and the work area left mainly tidy - except for a small pile of sawdust. I had been pleased with AR-BE's work replacing the garage door and door opener earlier in the summer, so chose them for the entry door replacement as well. Their price was comparable to/less than other quotes. Note: this work was done in October 2005.

I originally contacted AR-BE to just replace my faulty door-opener, but the installer indicated that the door itself was also a problem; the replacement door had to be special-ordered because of size. The project was a challenge because my garage is a really old wooden single-car structure which had even been lengthened by a prior owner to fit current cars. The installers and service techs arrived as scheduled, and completed the work quickly. They cleaned up after themselves. Interestingly, I had the receipts & manuals from my old garage door & opener from the 80s, and AR-BE's pricing for this work was very close to that for the original opener (same brand) and door. For this reason I didn't get any other quotes for the work.

They were on time, called back right away, put new opener on the same day. It was a fabulous experience.

I would never use this company nor recommend them to anyone and it's a shame they have such a high rating on this list. Their service today was typical of a bait and switch con. Or was it that my tenant was a senior citizen who was there to handle the repair while I was at work? One of the reasons I joined this list was to not have to deal with this type of company ever again and I am disappointed that they are included in Angie's list - as I thought it was better than searching through the Yellow Pages, but after today I am very disappointed.

Great! I would recommend AR-BE to others-especially with the good price. This company installed our original door and opener 20 years ago and we never had any problems with the opener until now..hope this one lasts as long!

Everyone I spoke to at ARE-BE was very courteous. The repairman who came to my house worked fast and explained what was wrong before doing the work. I had a coupon from angie's list and he honored. The work took about 1/2 hour. I am very satisfied with the work and would call them again.

The spring broke on our old door, and we weren't sure if we should replace just the spring or the entire door. Several different companies gave us a recommendation to replace the door, including Ar-Be. We chose them because they had the lowest price, although the price quoted over the phone was lower than what we ended up paying. Ar-Be was prompt and fast. We had a new garage door in one-day. Installers were polite, and cleaned up everything. The B rating on price is due to the fact that the salesman did not give us the full Angie's List discount. He gave us a price break on raw materials, but not enough to equal the amount we we have received for the full discount.

Very friendly and nice--was able to come out the first day we were available--it broke on a Sunday, we called on a Monday, and they came on Tuesday morning. They gave us an estimate over the phone before coming and we felt their price was very reasonable. Would hire again!

I had an emergency with my garage. Since AR-BE was hired several years ago by the contractors who built my house I decided to call them first. My situation is that my garage is "Michigan" style. I use remotes to open the front and back of my garage to pull and park cars in and thru. No other entrances or windows, just the garage doors. My problem was that I locked my remotes in my car (dumb) and my car was garage was closed (very dumb.) When I called AR-BE I explained my situation to the woman who answered the phone. After we talked for a while, she said that there was nothing they could do. I was shocked and dejected. But then I called around and was reassured by another company (Crystal Door) that all was not lost. Not only did they send someone out in a few hours, but they did the work without even damaging my doors. I wanted to use AR-BE, especially based on the comments here, but I can't recommend them.

He arrived pretty close to on time, was very pleasant.

THEY CAME OUT THE SAME DAY I CALLED. THEY INITIALLY GAVE ME A WINDOW OF 1-3 PM, THEN CALLED AT 2:50 TO SAY THEY'D ARRIVE WITHIN 45 MINUTES. THEY ARRIVED AT 3:30 AND QUICKLY DIAGNOSED AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. I WAS VERY SATISFIED AND RELIEVED. OUR GARAGE DOOR IS A BIT DECREPIT (OUR GARAGE ITSELF, EVEN MORE SO), SO I WAS CONCERNED THIS WOULD TURN INTO A LARGER ISSUE. THANKFULLY IT DID NOT. REPAIRMAN WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND OFFICE STAFF WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. I'D DEFINITELY USE AR-BE AGAIN.

AR-BE IS THE PLACE TO CALL IF YOU NEED HELP ON YOUR AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR. I HAVE USED THEM FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS WHEN I NEEDED A NEW LIFTMASTER UNIT, OR WHEN THE DOOR NEEDED ADJUSTING OR REPAIR. (MY DOOR IS 19 YEARS OLD BUT STILL VERY SERVICEABLE.) MY CALLS ARE ANSWERED PROMPTLY, THEY COME WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL, & THEY ARE REASONABLE & PROFESSIONAL. I RECOMMENDED AR-BE TO A NEIGHBOR WHO REPORTED SIMILARLY GREAT SERVICE.

CALLED TO LET ME KNOW WHEN REPAIR PERSON WOULD BE ARRIVING. REPAIR PERSON ADJUSTED SENSORS AND PERFORMED BASIC MAINTENANCE. EXPLAINED WHAT HE WAS DOING AND SHOWED ME WHAT TO CHECK IF PROBLEM RECURRED. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE

EFFICIENT SERVICE AND COMPETITIVE PRICING. THEY ARRIVED AT THE TAIL-END OF THE TIME FRAME FOR ARRIVAL, REMOVED THE OLD OPENER, INSTALLED THE NEW OPENER, TOOK ALL THE DEBRIS AWAY WITH THEM, AND SENT ME AN OFFICIAL RECEIPT FOR MY CREDIT CARD PAYMENT RIGHT AWAY.

CHUCK CAME OUT FOR THE ESTIMATE. HE WAS EXTREMELY POLITE AND VERY HELPFUL. NO PRESSURE AT ALL. JUST LEFT A WRITTEN ESTIMATE AND WE CALLED BACK A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER TO ACCEPT IT. 3 WORKERS CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY AND INSTALLED EVERYTHING MUCH TO OUR SATISFACTION.

ON TIME, BUT FEEL I WAS OVERCHARGED FOR SERVICE THAT TOOK ONLY A MINUTE.

THE SALESMAN ARRIVED ON TIME. HE WAS PERSONABLE, INFORMATIVE, AND HELPFUL. HE GAVE US CREDIT FOR THE ANGIE'S LIST COUPON BUT COULD NOT ALSO GIVE US THE SENIOR DISCOUNT STATING THAT THE FORMER WOULD SAVE US MORE. THE WORKERS ARRIVED EXACTLY ON TIME AND DID A PROFESSIONAL JOB. THEY WERE FAST, EFFICIENT, AND POLITE. THEY CLEANED UP WELL. BEFORE LEAVING THEY GAVE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SENSORS, CODES, AND COMPLETE OPERATION THE DOOR AND OPENER.

THE SALES MAN WHO CAME OUT FOR THE FREE QUOTE WAS VERY PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL, AND INFORMATIVE. THE INSTALLERS WERE NOT. THEY WERE NEARLY AN HOUR LATE, SAID THAT THEY WERE 2 MINUTES AWAY WHEN THEY WERE 30 MINUTES AWAY. IN ADDITION, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY OPENER (VS. NEW GARAGE DOOR) WHEN THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY AFTER THEIR INSTALLATION. IT TOOK SEVERAL CALLS WITH HEADQUARTERS AND THEN A SECOND VISIT FROM A SERVICE MAN WHO IDENTIFIED AND FIXED THEIR ERROR IN UNDER 5 MINUTES.

PUNCTUAL AND GREAT PEOPLE. DID A NICE JOB AND PRICE WAS FAIR.

I'M VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE SERVICE. MY GARAGE DOOR SPRINGS BROKE LAST NIGHT AT 12:30 AM, I CALLED THEM AT 8:50 AM AND THE JOB WAS COMPLETED BY 12:30 THIS AFTERNOON. THEY ARE VERY PROMPT, AND KEPT TO THE TIME SCHEDULE THEY GAVE ME. AFTER MY INITIAL CALL, THEY CALL WHEN THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY AND AGAIN WHEN PULLING UP. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

AR-BE GAVE US THE BEST PRICE AND THE BEST SCHEDULING. THEY ALSO EXPLAINED WHAT MIGHT BE PROBLEMS (THEY HAD TO CUT AWAY DRY-WALL). THE INSTALLER CAME WHEN SCHEDULED, INSTALLED BOTH DOORS, CLEANED UP THE AREA AND HAULED AWAY THE OLD DOORS AND PARTS. HE EXPLAINED WHAT HE HAD DONE AND THE OPERATION OF THE DOORS.
