AR-BE Garage Doors

Chuck came right on time (after the office called to let me know an ETA) and assessed what was wrong quickly, saying that it was just a regular service visit and shouldn't need any additional parts. He finished the work in 1/2 hour and checked to make sure everything functioned properly, which it didn't. He quickly figured out that the sensor was out of line and fixed it easily. He also oiled the tracks, so no more awful squeaking. The $67 was with the Angie's List discount.

I called AR-BE Thursday A.M and received a call back from Dave Burns soon after. We scheduled for his sales rep to come by Friday P.M to provide estimate. Friday A.M, I called back to reschedule the appointment to Monday A.M. The sales rep showed up on time as scheduled, discussed the various options for the garage door replacement, took a look at the door and components from inside the garage and, within less than 1/2 hour, provided a written estimate. The price was reasonable, so I signed the contract on the spot. The sales rep then called Dave Burns and within minutes, scheduled an installer to come the next day, Tuesday, to remove the old door and components and install the new door and components. The installer did the job in less than 2 hours and cleaned up very well after himself, including sweeping out the dirt and dust in the garage that was already there.

Was very flexible about installation time. Essentially allowed us to chose. Installers were polite and friendly and very efficient. Left worksite clean. Replace not only door but spring and other hardware with heavier duty versions at no extra cost. Higher quality door than the previous one.

Reluctantly, we will not even try to use this company again and will tell our friends to avoid it. I know there are lots of good reviews here for this company (that's why we called in the first place), but with three instances of poor customer service (two failed appointments and no callback) they really need to clean up their act.

They gave us an estimate on Thursday afternoon (they were the lowest, though all were pretty close) and installed it Friday morning. When their truck had a flat tire and was going to be late Friday, we received a prompt call to that effect. Overall, an easy process.

Excellent. The price was great for what they did. They replaced the door and the opener. The estimator came out as scheduled and told me what I needed to have done. The work was done in two hours and it works and looks better than ever. I would recommend this company for other work.

The service person was very prompt. It turned out that the beam wasn't lined up and I didn't realize it could easily be moved by loosening a wing nut (I had been using cardboard to try to adjust the angle). He oiled the joints. He also told me about an opener that is much quieter when I asked him about new options.

He was fabulous and a very nice guy.

Our garage door was buckling and wasn't able to close properly. Jim was right on time to evaluate the problem. They weren't able to repair the door. The automatic opener was still OK, so they replaced the door and associated hardware. The workers arrived in the agreed time window and did a good job. The door looks great and operates smoothly. There was some light debris left behind, including nails/bolts. They offered the Angie's List discount without having to be prompted.

Not good... because my garage door had a small tear in it they would not perform the work without replacing the entire garage door, what would have cost a little over $200 would have cost me $600. I decided to go with another company because I couldn't afford to replace the entire door and the cost of 2 springs was much less then what they had quoted me!!

It went very well, the two guys that did the work were friendly and very professional.

They are very responsive. We had to change appointment dates, and they did with no problem. They called to let us know they were coming. The service person was very nice. I will definitely use them again.

I had an Ar-be garage door that was working fine. That is, until someone set a car on fire in the alley behind my garage. This IS Chicago and stuff happens. The heat buckled the panels and melted the interior insulation and all the rubber molding. I called Ar-be again because of my past good experience with them. Jim Rutt came out the day after I called and gave me a quote. The installation was done the day after that. I was surprised to see only one installer come out, but he did a fine job all by himself. The door looks better than the old door. I will have to wait and see how it performs. My only peeve is that I told Jim I was an Angie's List member and was entitled to a discount. He said the price he quoted ($869) already included Angie's discount. I checked the proposal later and saw a $30 discount, which was not the full 5%. When the installer came, I asked to speak with someone at the office and was able to get an additional $15 discount before I signed the credit card charge.

Jim was very polite and knowledgeable. He came out on a Monday, and the doors were installed on Tuesday. My only gripe is the workers left cigarette butts on the driveway and in the garage. Jim was a bit late for our first meeting. The install crew was over an hour and a half late. Overall, however, the experience was great, and the new doors are wonderful.

Chuck came out to repair our door and could not do so because the cables were frayed. The old door was wood and Ar-Be does not repair the cables on wood doors. He told us who to call to complete the repair and gave us an estimate for a new door. There was absolutely no pressure to buy from Ar-Be. We've used Ar-Be several times before and liked them SO much that we decided to replace the door rather than pay another company to come and repair the old door. The installation crew was prompt and efficient. Clean up was nearly perfect. Ar-Be doors could teach some other companies a few things about Customer Service. You will NOT be disappointed.

Really fast. Installers removed and installed two car garage door in 1.5 hours. Left message Monday night. Received return call Tuesday; estimator came out Wednesday. Installation was completed on Thursday.

Very professional. The estimate was extremely reasonable and they performed the work in excellent fashion. They were always on time and followed through; on top of that, they were less expensive than the other quotes I got.

I called in the morning for an estimate, mentioning that I was an Angie's List member. Bruce Hruby arrived on time the same afternoon and gave me the estimate (allowing the 5% Angie's discount off the usual $899 price). Installation was scheduled for the next day. The installers showed up on time and had the door installed within 2 hours. They cleaned up the area before leaving (tho they did miss a couple of nails in the driveway which I found before any tires got pierced). The door looks great and is working perfectly. Bruce Hruby and the rest of the AR-BE crew really impressed me with their prompt, courteous and professional manner.

Excellent. The installer was a little late, but since it was a Saturday it was not a problem. Installer was friendly and knowledgeable. The new door works great.

I called. I'm so sorry I didn't get the name of the woman who answered because she deserves 5 stars for customer service. She explained that I should clean the cobwebs off the safety sensors that prevent the door from cosing on a person. Then she told me how to re-aim the sensors if I accidentally moved them. Then she told me the trick for reconnecting the coor to the opener. When I expressed skepticism about being able to do it, she encouraged me. Then, she alerted me that if I still needed them to come out, I should check to make sure the opener was a brand they serviced, because I wouldn't want to have to pay for a service call in vain. I just fixed it myself. I love this company! I will buy my next garage door opener from them!

He came within the time and called before he came. He was done in a hour. There was no mess. The price did not seem unreasonable.

The estimator arrived on time and was very nice. He apologized that they could not do the work and gave me several suggestions for companies that could perform the task. I really appreciate the honest estimate about the project and this company's limitations. Since they could not do the job, we never discussed price.

Chuck arrived on time to give the estimate. He was knowledgeable, quick, provided a written proposal. Not as thorough or descriptive about their products / installation services as other companies from the list, but very professional and kind. We opted for another company, but Ar-Be does a lot of work in our area and we would contact them again for further work/estimates.

AR-BE came first to give an estimate for fixing/replacing my old garage door (spring had snapped). They were friendly and not pushy. After getting other quotes and doing some research, I went with AR-BE. They came on time and installed the new door quickly and efficiently. They also removed the old door and cleaned up the area. It is also worth noting that they called as they were on their way. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. I am happy with the product AND their service.

The work crew and salesman were very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. The door looks great and works smoothly. The only minor problem with this company was that the work crew was scheduled for 10 AM, but did not arrive until noon. Otherwise, however, the company was very prompt and responsive. We were able to schedule the work, for example, for the day after the first meeting. We have no real complaints and are VERY VERY PLEASED!!!
