Job proposal never received from provider.

The job was done perfectly by the installer. The job was overpriced. I had been given a proposal that indicated it would cost $4,200 and take two men 2-3 days. It ended up taking one man 2.5 days. First I gave them a deposit of $1,200. Then they sent me the bill which was less than the proposal. So, I thought good they paid attention to the fact that the labor was less and they changed. So, I paid the bill right away and later I got a frantic phone call from the lady that worked in the office. She said she sent me the wrong invoice. She said she didn't know that I had made a deposit already. So then her boss called me (the one who gave the proposal) and said I have got to be out of my mind to think I don't have to pay that bill. They sent me a final bill and I paid the final bill. He said I have no idea what it costs to pay the installer. I know exactly what it costs to pay carpenters. If you look at the scale and all the benefits that go along with the $75/hour you've got a little profit in their. I said I'm a CPA and I work with this stuff all the time and I know exactly what this costs. The guy was only here 2.5 days. Not two guys, one guy. He said I'm not going to put up with this. I said that well I think you have to. You sent me the final invoice and I paid it. Eventually I just settled and agreed to pay $800 more, which was $400 less than what they were asking. He was acting like I was a big scalper, which wasn't true at all. I paid attention to everything the installer had done. I knew what the tile cost retail and they were buying the tile wholesale. They made money in all facets of the job. They made money on labor, tile and charging me for the truck they used to bring the tile and move my appliances. So, even though their individual installer was wonderful and did a perfect job I would not deal with these people again. They ripped me off and I think that's what they do to people. I don't think they like home jobs - they like bigger jobs. It was very unfortunate. I did write a complaint letter and I've never heard back from them. I have not done any business with them since, and I won't.
