They often relied on subcontractors for the work they do and they are not usually aware of company policies/procedures and promises that are made. On one occasion I had to call Comcast and request a Comcast technician (not a subcontractor). Once the Comcast tech came out the problem was immediately resolved. Comcast promised me a certain type of installation and once the techs came out they said it couldn't happen. I recognize the city of Chicago makes competition difficult for specific areas but their service needs to improve. The city of needs to allow multiple cable companies to service a single neighborhood or street.

The actual cable service is okay and they did come on time when I had power problems. Their charges however tend to go up without any warning and the bills are not usually correct therefore I won't be using their services any longer.

The young man on the Phone stuck with me until The Computer and Phone were working. We Pay approximately $140.00 Month for all three services.

I was in the process of moving into a town-home I rented. I setup the Comcast appointment for 4pm on Saturday, July 15, 2006. The tech called me early Saturday morning asking if he could arrive early - he wanted to be there at 10am! I was not living there at the time so I had to stop packing, get ready, and race over to my future home because he was there waiting for me. Once inside my home, I showed him exactly where I wanted everything, however, he did not follow any of my instructions. He did not leave me enough length on the cable wires in either of the three rooms to setup my furniture properly. Instead of "installing" a new outlet he ran a long cable under the carpet from the master bedroom to the spare bedroom, I could have done that!). I am VERY disappointed in Comcast's customer service.
Description of Work: Activate cable television in the living room and master bedroom, install a new outlet in the spare bedroom and setup Internet access.

WE ORDERED THE DIGITAL CLASSIC AND PREMIER CHANNELS AS WELL AS INTERNET. SOON AFTER INSTALLATION AND SETUP, OUR PREMIER CHANNELS BECAME UNAUTHORIZED. WE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY RESET OUR ACCOUNT AND WE HAD CHANNELS. SOON AFTER, WE LOST OUR PREMIER CHANNELS AGAIN. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED 8 TIMES WITH 3 TECHNICIANS TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. THEY CANNOT FIND AN ISSUE AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE OUR CHANNELS. THEY DO NOT HAVE APPROPRIATE MEASURES TO RESOLVE ISSUES AND EVERY TIME A TECHNICIAN COMES OUT, THEY SAY IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM. WHEN WE CALL CUSTOMER SVC., THEY TELL US IT'S THE TECHNICIANS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, NO ONE AT COMCAST WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

I HAD AN 8AM - 12 NOON APPT SLOT. THE TECHNICIAN NEVER SHOWED OR CALLED DURING THAT TIME. I HAD TO BE IN THE NORTHERN SUBURBS AT 12:45 AND SO I HAD TO LEAVE AT NOON. CAME HOME TO A VOICEMAIL MESSAGE COMPLAINING THAT I WASN'T THERE TO ANSWER THE PHONE.

ONCE THE INTERNET ACCESS IS SET UP, IT WORKS FINE, AND THEY HAVE NO REAL COMPETITORS WHERE WE LIVE. HOWEVER, COMCAST SHOWED UP LATE, GOT OUR ORDER WRONG, OVERCHARGED US, MESSED UP OUR TV RECEPTION FOR A FEW DAYS, JUMPED OUR FENCE TO DO WORK ON THE BACKYARD WITHOUT WARNING, COMPLETELY FREAKING US OUT, LEFT THEIR JOB UNFINISHED 3 TIMES, AND TOOK 2 WEEKS TO FINALLY BURY THE CABLE. IT'S NOT QUITE AS BAD AS HAVING A ROOT CANAL, BUT NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE EITHER. ANYWAY, AS I SAID, ONCE IT'S SET UP YOU DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM ANYMORE. EXPECT HAVING TO MAKE SEVERAL CALLS TO CUSTOMER SUPPORT BEFORE YOU'RE DONE. I'M VOTING 'D' ON PROFESSIONALISM BECAUSE OF THE FENCE JUMPING INCIDENT.

SINCE THEIR BOX WAS INSTALLED I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE MY VCR FOR TIMED RECORDINGS OR TAPING A SHOW WHILE WATCHING ANOTHER. THE LAST TIME A SERVICE MAN CAME OUT ON 8/19 AS SCHEDULED BUT WITHOUT TRUCK OR TOOLS OR THE 'AB' BOX THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. HE DIDN'T THINK THEY WORKED ANYWAY BUT WOULD BE BACK ON 8/21. HE RETURNED BUT STILL DIDN'T INSTALL THE BOX BECAUSE IT WASN'T ON THE WORK ORDER. I'VE GOTTEN DIFFERENT STORIES FROM EACH PERSON I'VE DEALT WITH WHETHER CUSTOMER SERVICE, INSTALLER, OR SERVICE REP. THEY DO NOT HAVE INSTRUCTION BOOKS WITH THEIR EQUIPMENT.
