Handyman Pros

We were extremely pleased with Handyman Pros. They were polite, professional, and accurate. We really appreciated that, after looking at our list of items, they honestly removed tasks that they deemed as unnecessary. For instance, we thought that we needed a fan replaced and they showed us that it was still in working order. We were really impressed and would recommend them to others.

It was not great. He was too slow. They took an entire day to change 20 switch outlets. First hour was $95, from second hour onwards it was $69. I hired them to change the kitchen sink motor and then I extended them for electrical outlets. I paid around $1000 plus. It was not the best price. I was not able to get them right away and they did not respond immediately. He was late by one hour. He was professional.

Great. There were surprises, but Gary & I got handled them well & in a timely fashion. Excellent job!

We were very happy with the service. The owner came out and gave us an estimate, and then we scheduled the repairs for the following week. Our work was done by Brian. Although it took 2 days, it was done very efficiently and with a minimum of fuss or inconvenience. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be scheduling more service soon!

Igor was on time. I’ve never written a negative review but my experience was very disappointing! He didn’t follow instruction lost bolt, didn’t cleanup. Smoked a cigarette I had to do everything with and for him. Task could not have been done w/o me!

Igor was great! On tome, great job! Also loved that I was able to text a picture and get an estimate.

Igor did a very nice paint job. He was neat and courteous.

Not well. We did not know that they had no licensed plumbers or licensed electricians available for our job. We had to hire them and it was high costs for the licensed plumber. Our village requires a permit, and licensed people. Shoddy painting, did not even remove the trim before painting the corners! Then when I showed him anything, he would just say, "What you want me to do?" I would say, "Well, I would like it to be done right". Then he would say "OK, I fix." But later, after the "fix", it looked the same. FORGOT to install the mosaic tiles accent strip inside the shower! We were lenient, and found another place for them on the side walls outside the shower flanking the shower door. What a lousy job! Refusal to fulfill items on contract, like installing the top of the vanity, holes drilled in shower for shower wand, etc. Surly attitude, complaining a lot about how hard the work was, and constant snide references to the "licensed plumber". Plumber had to drill the holes, two 18 x 24" porcelain tiles cracked, several tiles must be removed, along with the bullnose tiles on the side by the shower door, and the shower door needs to be UNinstalled. Then new tiles (we have tiles and grout) must be installed and 3 holes drilled for shower head/wand. New bullnose must be installed, shower door to be re-installed. Meanwhile, we need our bathroom back! We have NO faith in Handyman Pros. Nick, the boss, was nasty and beligerant the next day when he came to see the problem. No interest in satisfying the customer, and if his other workers are as sloppy and uncaring as Igor, we would not want them in our home.

Very well. Everything went well and done to my satisfaction. Brian was very nice and knew how to do all tasks required.

The job was nicely done and in a timely manner.

We had previously had another contractor come in to re grout the tub surround. During that process, tiles started to fall out of out of the tub surround due to old water damage on the drywall behind (we had original drywall and tile from the 80s). That contractor disappeared after that work. We had several bath remodeling companies quote us triple what Handyman Pros quoted for similar work. We hired Handyman Pros because their price was extremely competitive and they seemed like a trustworthy company. Gary arrive exactly on time both days he was here. He was personable and friendly and worked within the construction parameters set by our condominium HOA. He was efficient and thorough and really proved that he knew what he was doing. He reworked all the piping behind the shower wall to fit for new fixtures. While we still have an old cast iron tub and only replaced the surround with a store-bought fiberglass insert, it looks like a brand new shower and he did a fantastic job! We will definitely be hiring Handyman Pros for several more projects on our to-do list in the near future. Thanks for the great work!

Brian installed two safety bars in the bathroom of my parent's condo. Brian was prompt and polite. He cleaned up afterwards and made sure the safety bars were placed correctly and where it they would most assist my parents. I will request Brian again for future work from Handyman Pros

Thomas arrived on time, and we showed him the 5 coach lights we had purchased and wanted him to install. They were replacing old existing coach lights - 3 on the garage, 1 at front door, 1 at back door. The 2 lights installed on the front and back doors are 2 level motion sensor, the other 3 are plain on / off. Thomas removed the old lights, and then installed the new ones. He also showed us how to adjust the sensor switches, which had to be done later in the evening when it was dark. He did a good job; no problems whatsoever. We have used Handyman Pros' services in the past, which is why we called them again. They stand by their work.

The agreed upon work was completed to my satisfaction. The awareness I would like to bring to potential customer's attention when dealing with Handyman Pro's (Mundelein location) is around Scheduling, Communication and Professionalism by Nick and Donna. Scheduling - Nick was on time for the appointment to provide the initial quote for the work. When trying to schedule the actual repair, I was asked to reply by noon to secure an appointment. After providing a reply before noon, I learned later that day the appointment was no longer available. The excuse provided, the resource was scheduled by another office. Only after mentioning another vendor, did "a cancellation" create a opening in the schedule. I was added to the calendar, but Nick cautioned of rain, the alternate date was more than two weeks out. Weather cooperated and the repair was completed on the agreed upon date. Communication - The work to be performed was outside, I asked Nick if anyone needed to be home, the response I received was no. Any repairs required beyond the quote would be addressed over the phone. No communication the night before about start time or reschedule due to the weather forecast. Around 830a, I started receiving phone calls from Donna telling me I needed to be home for the repair. In order for the repairs to proceed, I needed to provide a credit card. Professionalism - After the repair was completed, the individual that performed the work left an invoice with the repair total including materials. The exact amount on the invoice was paid in full via bank check that evening. After 6 days, I received an email from Donna indicating there was still a balance due, stating I short paid by $20. After providing photographic evidence of the invoice collaborating the amount paid, matched the invoice total, I received an email from Nick accusing me of scratching off the total on the invoice. All hand writing (including the total) on the invoice was from the representative of Handyman Pro's. Nick and I exchanged email on the topic, when I mentioned providing feedback via Angie's List on our exchange, he apologized, said the balance was zero, but continued to cite an adding error by his technician on the invoice. There is no adding error on the invoice.

I was interested in services offered through Angie's list by this provider that I have never used before. Reviews offered little insight so I called them to ask about the company and get some background. The woman on the phone would not talk to me, would not discuss anything about Handyman Pros and rudely dismissed me saying to go look at Angie's list, insisting "I'd find everything I needed there". What kind of company has employees that aren't interested in promoting the company they work for?
